James spent nearly a decade as a correctional officer, both with the state of Florida and Bay County. After leaving corrections, he enjoyed self employment; primarily in the amusement vending industry. James was quick witted, strong willed and opinionated. He was a die-hard Tampa Bay Buccaneer fan, traveling to several games each year. He was tough as nails, strong as an ox and often outspoken, but his soft spot was undoubtedly his two daughters, Bailey Renee Mainor (16) and Grace Kathleen Mainor (10). He loved spending time with his children, giving them their heart’s desires and everything he ever did, was in hopes of creating a better life for them. He was an excellent cook, hilariously funny and loved his girls more than anything else. He had a larger than life personality and a big heart under a tough exterior. He will never be forgotten by those that were privileged enough to know the real James.

Kenneth Charles Price Sr. - June 09, 1962 - December 10, 2023

Obituary Preview: Kenneth Charles Price Sr. was born on June 9, 1962, right up town in the little building by the red light. He was a lifelong Wewahitchka resident and sadly passed away at his home on December 10, 2023. He loved the outdoors, and hunting was high on his list of hobbies. He was pretty good on the dirt track in his younger days and could often be found at surrounding dirt tracks or our local go-cart track. When one of his grandkids had a game, you could always find him either in the stand or in the line, buying the others skittles and coke. He was a die-hard Gator fan, and no matter if it was win-or-lose, he wore that orange and blue. He was an extremely active and devoted member of Wewahitchka Search and Rescue and proudly served as vice president. Over the years, he devoted his time and energy to serving as a coach on multiple rec leagues in the community. When there was a need, he was always the first in line to help. His dedication and love for his family, community, and friends were unmeasurable.
He is preceded in death by his Granny Price, his father Charles Price, his mothers Minnie Price and Quida Roussel, and two precious grandchildren, Kyleigh and Joseph Price.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Michell Price and children Tracy Price, Jessica Price, Kenneth Price Jr (Elizabeth), Renee Nunery (Triston), and LeeAnn Bernal (Phoenix). Thirteen grandchildren: Jocelyn, Jarrot, Marcus, Michael, Triston, TJ, Hunter, JP, Korvin, Kolton, Kyle, Waylon, and Dexter. He also leaves behind three brothers: Tony Price (Susan), Max Wood (Patty), and Gary Holmes (Angie), and one sister, Faye Hysmith (Billy). As well as numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends in love.
His memory will live on in all the lives he has touched.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. Central Time with funeral services beginning at 12:00 P.M. Central Time on Friday, December 15, 2023 at Westside Baptist Church in Wewahitchka, Florida with Pastor Derrick Gerber officiating. Interment will follow at Buckhorn Cemetery.

Mark Kevin Palmer - June 25, 1967 - November 21, 2023

Obituary Preview: Mark Palmer of Winter Haven, Florida, age 56, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023. Mark loved to spend his free time casting a line into local waters and fishing. He also enjoyed circle track racing and spending time with his beloved brother. Though he spent most of his life in Winter Haven, he did spend time in Gulf County, and graduated from Wewahitchka High School in 1985.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mark is survived by his grandmother, Anna Wright of Riverview, Florida; brothers, Maylon Palmer (Joanna) of Wewahitchka, Florida and Carlton Palmer of Florala, Alabama. He is also survived by numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 10:30 A.M. Central Time at Buckhorn Cemetery in Wewahitchka, Florida. Graveside Services will follow at 11:00 A.M.

He was born and raised in Illinois until moving to Bay County in the 90’s where he worked as a roofer. Timothy enjoyed riding motorcycles, hanging out with friends around a bonfire, and spending time with his family. His children and grandson were the apple of his eye.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Paul Massey Sr. and one brother, Jeffery Brooks.
Timothy is survived by his mother, Shirley Marie Massey; three children, Sumer Massey, Blake Massey, and Zac Massey; five siblings, Jeannette, Lisa, Billy Massey (Lesley), Devon Hays (Ken), and Marianna; one grandson, Samoage Gibson two special nephews, Will Massey and Shane Massey. He is also survived by his brother from another mother, Tyrone “Pops” Bockmiller, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Memorialization will be by cremation.

Private family services will be held.

Carolyn worked for many years at St. Joe Telephone and Telegraph Company as an operator. She started working at Gulf County Schools in 1979 at Highland View Elementary School as an office secretary. She continued her 31-year career in GCSB transportation until retirement in 2010. Carolyn loved spending time with her family, participating in church activities, and eating ice cream. She was a faithful member and prayer warrior for Hope Fellowship and Worship Center in Port St. Joe.
She was born in Marianna, FL on December 16, 1947 to the late Carlos and Mary Whitfield. She met and married the love of her life, Jerry Peak, on January 21, 1967. After 56 years of marriage, Jerry went to be with the Lord on July 5, 2023.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Jerry Lamar Peak, Jr., and her siblings Jimmy, Wayne and Harmon Whitfield, Mozelle Gates, WillieMae Lollie, and Alton Curlee.
Carolyn is survived by daughters Tonya Plair (Mike Owens) of Mexico Beach, Joni White (David) of Port St. Joe. Grandchildren Jordon Plair (Tiffany), Lexie Plair (Jack), Heath Plair, Brooke and Averi White. One brother, James Whitfield of Altha, FL and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation and Funeral arrangements will be held at Long Avenue Baptist Church on Tuesday, July 18, 2023. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. and the service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Tim Bailey and Brother Glenn Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Cemetery.

Jerry was a 1964 graduate of Port St. Joe High School. At a young age, Jerry owned and operated Timco Gas Station in Highland View for many years. He continued his working career at Basic Magnesium and retired from the St. Joe Company Woodlands Division in 1998. Jerry enjoyed working in the yard, canning tomatoes, and spending time with his family, especially on the 4th of July. He was a member and faithfully attended Hope Fellowship and Worship Center in Port St. Joe.
He was born in Holmes County, FL on August 29,1944 to the late Leroy and Ethel Peak. He was also preceded in death by his son, Jerry Lamar Peak, Jr., and his siblings Oneal, Hosea, JR, Noah, Roy, Jake, Earl, Paul and Cora Peak.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Carolyn, daughters Tonya Plair (Mike Owens) of Mexico Beach, Joni White (David) of Port St. Joe. Grandchildren Jordon Plair (Tiffany), Lexie Plair (Jack), Heath Plair, Brooke and Averi White and a sister, Carolyn Williams of Port St. Joe and many nieces and nephews.

Walter B. Burnham - August 12, 1944 - May 10, 2023

Obituary Preview: Walter B. Burnham age 78 of Greenhead, Florida passed away in Panama City on Wednesday, May 10, 2023. He was born in Wewahitchka, Florida on August 12, 1944, to the late Sovereign Burnham and Margaret Loraine Thompson Burnham. Walter spent his life in Gulf County until he joined the United States Army serving in the Korean Conflict. After the military, Walter moved to Panama City, Florida and went to work at Tommy Thomas Chevrolet as a mechanic along with some other shops and dealerships. Walter eventually landed his career job at the Panama City Papermill as a millwright mechanic. He worked thirty – eight years before retiring and moving to Greenhead, Florida. Walter was a very talented craftsman and fabricator that could make something out of nothing. He enjoyed all sorts of woodworking which included cabinets, crafts, and what knots. Walter had a passion for bass fishing so much so that he was a founding member of the Miracle Strip Bass Club. He also participated in the many Bass Master Classic Bass Tournaments in the 1980’s and was even named the “Champion of Champions” by the Pensacola News Herald. Over the years, he won many awards, trophies, and was in quite a few newspaper/magazine articles celebrating his many bass fishing accomplishments. Walter will be remembered as a man with a kind heart that always took care of his fellow man. Walter had a heart of gold and grew fond of many people, spreading his friendship and love to everyone he met; he was never afraid to tell someone that he loved them. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Walter was a Master Mason and past member of the Ira Lindsey Sr. Lodge #365 of Hiland Park,
FL and a current member of the Wausau Lodge #39 in Wausau, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Billy Corbett.
Walter is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Mary Louise Young Burnham of Greenhead, Florida; two sons, Walter Burnham (Candi) of Greenhead, Florida, and Chris Burnham (Stormie) of Panama City, Florida; one brother, Sol Burnham (Cathy) of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi; one sister, Peggy Buckley of Syracuse, New York; five grandchildren, James Burnham, Jaxon Burnham, Devanie Burnham, Colby Burnham, and Rebecca Tumbleson.
Walter had many friends around the panhandle, from Wewa, Panama City, Greenhead, Chipley and beyond. He was like the legendary Will Rogers, “A stranger is just a friend I haven’t met yet”. With his love of classic western movies, classic cars, and bass fishing he had many stories to share about each topic and would make you laugh and smile as he told those stories he experienced with many of his friends. Walter leaves those stories of laughter and jokes to be remembered by to so many he touched. He will be missed by many of his friends and surely his family most of all.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 3:30 Central Time on Friday, June 2, 2023, at Roberts Cemetery in Wewahitchka, Florida with Brian Blalock officiating.
