Obituary Preview: Lorraine Cummings of Bloomfield, New Jersey, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2024. She was 96 years old.
Beloved matriarch of her family, she married her late husband, William Frederick, in 1949 and was his devoted wife for 50 years. Prior to moving to Forked River, New Jersey, they resided in Bloomfield where they raised their three children: Stephen, Linda, and Paul.
Born in Orange, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Keenan. Loving sister of the late John Gough and Catherine Gough-Parks.

Growing up she attended Our Lady of the Valley High School and later worked at the Nevins-Church Press in Glen Ridge. For those who knew her well, she was the quiet Irish redhead who always had a kind word.
Her home was her pride and joy where she created a place of comfort and beauty for her family. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jennifer Cummings. She is survived by her children Stephen Cummings (Robin) of Bushkill, Pennsylvania, Linda Cummings of Bloomfield, New Jersey, and Paul Cummings (Amanda) of Sparta, New Jersey; grandchildren Jaclyn (Robert), Grant, Todd; and two great grandchildren, Jackson and Leo Scarfone of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.
Lorraine was a communicant at the Saint Valentine Church in Bloomfield. Interment will be held by the family in a private committal service at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown, New Jersey.

Obituary Preview: Teresa (Porco) Furelli passed away peacefully at 92 years old in the early-morning hours of Friday, May 10th, 2024. Born on October 18, 1931, in Amantea, Italy, Teresa had a storied life, enduring World War II as a teenager and shortly after venturing through Venezuela and America with her soulmate, Alberto Furelli. Together, they brought into the world two daughters, Luisa Guido and Franca Piperato who emulate their mother’s strength, warmth and love of family.
Teresa’s faith was also immovable and guided her seamless ability to embrace everyone she met. In reuniting with her parents, her brother, Vincenzo Porco, her husband and the many dear friends who have passed before her, Teresa is survived by her siblings, Ida, Francesco, Rosetta; her daughters and their husbands, Joe and Beniamino; three grandchildren, Antonio Guido, Dominique Pagan and Francesca Piperato; five great-grandchildren, Jayden, Mia, AJ, Genevieve and Mateo and all those who have grown to know her simply as “Nonna” or “Mamma T”. She will always be remembered by many for her warmth and hospitality.

Obituary Preview: Lillian Razzoli (nee Oliveira), 74, of North Arlington, NJ passed away peacefully in her sleep at home with her children on May 4, 2024 after a long courageous battle with cancer and kidney failure.
She was born to the late Carlos Oliveira and Amelia Oliveira (nee Bernardo) on February 15, 1950 in Newark NJ where she was raised and later moved to North Arlington, NJ. After graduating from East Side High School, Lillian attended college at William Paterson University later following Capri Cosmetology College where she obtained her license as a state certified beautician. In her lifetime she owned 2 businesses, first Lil’s Beauty Shop & most recently Razzoli’s Little Italy which both were located in North Arlington.
She was a beloved wife to the late Emil Razzoli. Devoted mother to her 3 children Alan, Ryan & Lisa Razzoli. Loving dog grandma to Ruby Razzoli. Dear sister to the late Marie Elena Hlatke (nee Oliveira), Charles Oliveira and survived by her youngest brother Michael Oliveira. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A few of Lillian’s favorite pass times were cooking, watching Hallmark Channel & Food Network, trying new restaurants and her absolute favorite thing in this world was going to Disney World every year with her children creating magical memories.

Obituary Preview: Anthony Rosado, affectionately known as "The Hulkster," passed away on April 16, 2024, at the age of 64, at University Hospital in Newark. Born in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico, to the late Antonio and Ramona Rosado, Anthony spent most of his life in Newark before settling in Belleville eight years ago.
Anthony had a deep love for music, especially freestyle, and had a knack for caring for and maintaining cars. He found joy in cheering for his beloved team, the Dallas Cowboys, and indulging in his passion for wrestling. Known for his outgoing and friendly nature, Anthony was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Marlene Rosado, and is survived by his daughters, Brittany Rosado and Angelina Rosado, along with his grandchildren, Antonio, Joshua, and Jaxon Rosado, as well as Josiah and Kehlani Galarza. He is also survived by his loving sister, Olga Rosado, and his nephews and their families, Moises Jr., Juan, and David Torres, in addition to numerous cousins and friends.
A viewing will be held on Monday, April 22, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Levandoski-Grillo Funeral Home, 44 Bay Ave., Bloomfield, NJ. A Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, April 23rd at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church, 155 William St., Belleville, NJ. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery, Kearny.
Anthony will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched.

Born in Trancoso, Guarda, Portugal on February 2, 1958, he lived most recently in Elizabeth. He was employed as a welder for High Tech Manufacturing of Irvington for many years. Cesar loved his social life. He enjoyed spending much of his leisure time at Valenca Restaurant in Elizabeth. There he would hang out with his friends, eating, drinking, and cheering on Benfica and keeping up with his favorite athlete Cristiano Ronaldo.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Maria E. Albuquerque (nee: Marques Moura Peis), his son, Hugo & wife Carolina & granddaughter Amy.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. A Catholic Prayer Service will take place at 8:45 p.m. to conclude the evening. Cremation will be held privately.

Tomasita Rivera - October 17, 1929 - March 26, 2024

Obituary Preview: Tomasita Rivera (nee: Tomasa Cruz Gonzalez), beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away from Cancer and Alzheimer's Disease on Tuesday March 26th, 2024 in Toms River, New Jersey comfortably in peace and surrounded by the love of her family.
Masin, or Bati as she was known to her 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico on October 17th 1929. Her parents were Basilisa Gonzalez and Rosendo Cruz and she was the 4th child of their 8 children. Growing up she was close to all her siblings and cared for them deeply. In her late 20’s she moved to New York City where she met her husband, Ramon Rivera. Together they settled in Newark, New Jersey and had 7 children, Hilda, Ramon,Jr., Ricardo, Marcos, Armando, Diana and Anibal. She was a devoted wife and mother, putting the care of her children above all. Tomasita was widowed in December of 1978 and proceeded to raise her 7 children on her own. She did this with grace and strength that inspired all she came in contact with. She went on to become a superintendent of an apartment building in Bloomfield, New Jersey with her son Armando. While there, she thrived in her independence and took great pride in her work. In the year 2000, she went on to retire and moved in with her eldest daughter Hilda and her family in West Orange, New Jersey. There, she continued to be a devoted grandmother and her journey took her to living in Ocala, Florida and then finally to Toms River, New Jersey.
Tomasita found great joy in being with her family, especially taking care of her grandchildren. She relished her Puerto Rican heritage and continued her cherished traditions with her family. She shared with them her love of sewing, fed their bodies and souls with her incredible cooking, and would easily dance anyone under the table. Dancing Salsa was her passion and how she coped with all that came her way. Tomasita was so full of love and music and laughter. Her smile never failed to light up the room and was truly always the life of the party. Or rather, made her life the party that everyone was privileged to attend. She never met a stranger and embraced everyone with genuine warmth. Her sense of humor was infectious and her wit was sharp as a tack. She was competitive especially when playing dominoes and cards. It didn’t matter if you were a kid just learning the game or an experienced player, she would beat you just the same.
She was a devout Catholic and her spirituality gave her solace. Her faith sustained her throughout her life. Bati’s courageous, strong, and joyful spirit will always be with her loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her husband Ramon Rivera (1925-1978) and her son Marcos Rivera (1961-2003).
She is survived by her adoring children (Hilda Rivera-Pravetz, Ramon Rivera, Jr., Ricardo Rivera, Armando Rivera, Diana Torsiello and Anibal Rivera), grandchildren (Lieanne Jimenez, Natalie Rivera, Christie Lynn Costanza, Diego Rivera, Ethan Pravetz, Gabriel Rivera, Emilio Rivera, Alyssa Pravetz-Balazs, Isaiah Rivera, Elise Plaza, Sofia Rivera, Bruno Pascale and Jared Pascale), and great-grandchildren (Caleb Jimenez, Nathaniel Jiminez, Isaac Jimenez, Eden Jimenez, Jeremiah Jimenez, Gabriel Rivera, Mason Rivera-Fredricks, Greyson Colleti, Emma Colleti, Leo Pascale, Oliver Pascale, and Luca Pascale), her sister Jenny Cruz, sons-in-law: Matthew Pravetz, Peter Torsiello, daughters-in-law; Evelyn Rivera and Magdalena Ponce de Leon and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Sebastian "Sebbie" Puleo - January 24, 1939 - March 06, 2024

Obituary Preview: Sebastian J. Puleo “Sebbie”, 85 of Forked River, entered into eternal rest on March 6, 2024. Born in Perth Amboy, he lived in Newark and Bloomfield, before moving to Forked River.
After he married his wife Patricia, he enlisted in the US Army and honorably served from 1963-1969, while in the reserves he joined the Newark Police Department. Sebbie retired as a detective in 2001 and was last working in the property room with the department. During retirement he still kept busy working part time security at Prudential & Lerners in Newark. He enjoyed collecting antiques and going to estate sales. He had a large collection of antique silver collector spoons from all over the world. He also enjoyed trips to Atlantic City at Resorts Casino.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (1995).
He is survived by his daughter, Christina Colaiacovo & Diana Puleo, his grandchildren; Christian Puleo & Devin Colaiacovo, his sister; Anne Polese, niece Monique Deluca, nephew Ciro Polese and great niece Nicole Deluca.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Levandoski-Grillo Funeral Home, 44 Bay Ave., Bloomfield, NJ.

Edward was a Senior Accountant at the Internal Revenue Service in NY. Beyond his long and distinguished career, he was a devoted hiker, climber, and cross-country skier, deeply connected to the mountains and woods of New Jersey, New York, and New England. He enjoyed leading and organizing hikes, climbs, camping trips, and cross-country ski excursions in these regions.
Known as “Don” to his family and close friends, he is survived by his brother Leonard Kress of Blackwood, NJ and his wife, Mania Dajnak, as well as his sister Elinor Kress Penn of Andover, Ct and her husband William Penn of Andover, Ct. He was preceded in death by his father, Bernard H. Kress, and his mother, Janet Shapiro Kress.
Edward attended Lafayette Consolidated Elementary School in Lafayette Hill, PA, and Plymouth-Whitemarsh H.S. in Plymouth Meeting, PA.
He graduated from Columbia University in New York with a B.S. in Biology, and he earned an M.S. in Biology from Washington University in Saint Louis. He also received his M.B.A. from the University of Rochester.

Obituary Preview: Emma M. (Sims) Lee of Orange, NJ, went home to her heavenly father on Thursday February 22, 2024, at the age of 68. She was born in Lincolnton, GA on November 25, 1955, to Myrtis (Hogan) Sims and the late Leonard Sims, Sr.
Emma had lived in Passaic, NJ, prior to moving to Orange in the 1980s.
She was a dedicated manager, better known as “The Boss”, at Semels Embroidery in Clifton, NJ, for 50 years. Growing up Emma was both artistic and athletic. She was a very talented artist. Emma loved to draw, paint and create clay sculptures. She was a pitcher for the softball and fastball teams in high school. She enjoyed playing basketball too. Emma was gifted with many talents, and the one she excelled at was cooking. Referred to as “Top Chef” by family, cooking for her loved ones was a passion of hers. She truly enjoyed feeding people. One of her most famous and most loved dishes was lasagna.
Emma was also a fashionista; she was known as the “diva with shades”. She had great style and an impressive shoe collection. Not only was she particular about her clothes, but her car of choice were Cadillacs. Emma of all her traits was best known to be generous. Gift giving was one of her love languages. She always gave from the heart expecting nothing in return.
Emma was the beloved wife for over 40 years to James W. Lee, Sr., devoted mother of James W. Lee, Jr. and Ondrea A. Lee, cherished grandmother of Aries A. Lee; loving daughter of Myrtis (Hogan) Sims and the late Leonard Sims, Sr., and dear sister of Leonard Sims, Jr., Diane Sims, Sylvia Sims and Ammie Sims, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Levandoski-Grillo Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 44 Bay Avenue, Bloomfield, NJ, (additional parking is available on Broughton Avenue) on Saturday morning March 2nd from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home at 12:00 p.m. by Bishop Jethro C. He was a proud Air Force Veteran and member of the American Legion – Mountain Top Post 781 and the Sons of Italy. He was an avid Yankees and Raiders fan and enjoyed his crossword puzzles in the morning while sipping on a cup of coffee. His greatest joy in life, however, was spending time with his friends, family, and grandchildren. He especially enjoyed cheering his children and grandchildren on at their sports games.
He is the cherished husband of Renata (nee: Doria), the beloved father of Melissa Pesce, Amanda Pesce, and Vincent Pesce, loving grandfather of John Lupcho, Wyatt Lupcho, Madelyn Frailey, and Theodore Glaser, and dearest uncle to many nephews and nieces. He is also survived by his aunt Joann Trezza, cousins Maria, Michael, Mark and Sara Trezza, Lesley and Paul Knight, Emma Schiller and family, Jennifer Fitzpatrick and family, and Anthony Scerbo and family, and sister-in-law Silvana and her husband Louis, and sister-in-law Antoinette Urban.  He is predeceased by his sister, Mary Jean Pesce.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, 344 Sixth Street, Jersey City, NJ. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.

Born January 13, 1947, he grew up in Kearny, NJ where he became a basketball standout, and was inducted into the Kearny Hall of Fame. After attending Kentucky Wesleyan University, he returned to Kearny where he had an illustrious career in education as a history teacher and guidance counselor. Throughout his 44-year career as an educator he touched countless lives, as his former students still recognize him as having a profound impact on them, inspiring their current careers.
Andrew is survived by his loving wife Alda, sons Jason and Michael, sisters Donna and Wendy, Daughter-in-law Casey, his nieces and nephews, Tara, Danielle, Kyle, Connor and beloved grandchildren Nolan and Saige, along with many other family and friends who loved him. Andrew was always there for the people he loved. He lived a wonderful life and will be sorely missed.

Obituary Preview: Louis Scerbo, 81 of Lyndhurst, formerly of Jersey City, entered peacefully into eternal life on February 6, 2024, at his home with his family by his side. Born in Marcellinara, Catanzaro, Italy on February 21, 1943, to the late Antonio Scerbo & Rosina Barberio, he lived in Jersey City since the age of 13. Mr. Scerbo was a retired driver for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
A devout Catholic, Mr. Scerbo was a proud parishioner of Holy Rosary Church, Jersey City. There he was an active member of the past Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus – Lyndhurst Council 2396 and was an avid Yankee’s fan. Mr. Scerbo enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, going out for a nice meal or just having a cup of coffee with his friends. However, his greatest enjoyment came from talking baseball with his grandson Rocco. He was always there to cheer him on at his games and if he could not make it, he made sure they would talk about it afterwards.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol (nee: Trezza).
Surviving to cherish his memory are his son, Anthony Scerbo & wife Catherine, his grandson, Rocco, his sister Maria Colacino & her husband Frank and nephew Fred Colacino & niece Rose Ann Schreiber. He is also survived by other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. While in Cape Cod, Mr. Ebling loved to sail and attend Cotuit Kettlers games with his brother David, sisters Laura and Susie, his cousins John, Judy and Barbara Murray, Jody, Terry, Bunker, Dake and Mary. Cotuit held a special place in Mr. Ebling’s legacy and memories. Mr. Ebling attended Hobart College from 1962-66. He would remember these days as the most fun that he had in his life. He was a humanitarian who lived his life spreading knowledge, wisdom, and love. During his twenties Mr. Ebling spent two years living in the “Truk District” of Micronesia where he “taught school and built a school to teach in. I also worked in a lot of community development projects and a health program, but mostly I fished.”
Following his experience in the Peace Corps, Mr. Ebling began his illustrious teaching career that spanned over four decades. Most notably, Mr. Ebling taught at Montclair Kimberley Academy where he was renowned for his academic rigor and high standards established for himself and students alike. He also coached soccer, basketball, and tennis. Mr. Ebling’s strong personality positively influenced countless students throughout his career.
In the latter years of his life, “Dubs'' immersed himself into serving the Essex County community, which he loved so much. He was secretary for the Montclair, Clifton, Bloomfield, and Glen Ridge Kiwanis Clubs. The Kiwanians provided fellowship and purpose for Mr. Ebling as he continued to spread positivity through initiatives such as food distribution, clothing drives, and preparing for the annual Memorial Day picnic. Mr. Ebling was awarded the George F. Hixon Fellowship, signifying the highest honor given in the Kiwanis Club. He was a special person who dedicated his life to service, teaching, and above all spreading values and lessons that will be cherished by those who were in his presence. Mr. Ebling was a passionate New York Giants fan and he was happy to see his beloved team beat the Eagles in his last game.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Mariana, Alfonso, Edyca, Andrea, Carlos, Luis Andres, and her inlaws, Alfonso, Edith, Romelia, and Inmaculada.
A trailblazer, Diana was the first female money market trader in Mexico for Citibank. During a work trip to NYC, Diana attempted to sell assets to an international officer, who would end up being her husband, Hector Gonzalez. Hector received the most valuable asset, Diana’s partnership in marriage for 42 years.
The couple brought into the world their two loving daughters, Sandra Lisset & Diana Lauren. Diana was an extremely dedicated mother and her home was always filled with laughter, love, and joy. As the girls grew older, Diana returned to the workforce as a successful realtor for Weichert Realtors in Upper Montclair for 20 years.
Diana will be remembered for her ingenious and disarming personality who easily made friends. Always elegant and graceful, she lived joyfully and enthusiastically. Known for her loving hugs and empathetic nature, she would take the shirt off her back for someone in need. Simply put, to know Diana is to love her.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the caregivers, friends, and loved ones who provided support and comfort during Diana’s journey.

Emma-Lou was an active member of Church of the Advent, Bloomfield and then at St. James Episcopal Church, Upper Montclair, serving on the vestry. Retirement allowed more time for travel to her second home on Hilton Head Island, SC with family and friends.
Never one to sit still, she was an active member of Bloomfield Branch of AAUW serving as president of the association in 1980 and worked tirelessly on their annual charity book sale. She was very passionate about singing with Chorus of Communities. She was also a member of the Bloomfield Historical Society and enjoyed working in her gardens.
Emma-Lou was preceded in death by her parents Dwight Marden Ingraham and Edith (Sewall) Ingraham and her beloved husband, Herman Czarnecki, Jr. She is survived by a son, Carl Thomas Czarnecki (Cornelia) of Bloomfield, NJ; a daughter, Janet Louise Jasinski (Nicholas) of Freehold, NJ; and two grandchildren, Gregory Brian Jasinski and Erica Louise Jasinski.

Born in Bedziemysl, Poland, on January 23, 1942 and immigrated to the United States in 1988 where he began working at a butcher shop in Newark. In 1990 he became a caretaker/maintenance worker at the Essex Manor in Bloomfield.
Predeceased by his parents Tomasz Zielinski and Paulina Zielinska and siblings Juzef Byk, Maria Byk, and Jan Zielinski. He is survived by his loving wife Alicja Zielinska and was a devoted father to his four daughters, Renata Wasik and her husband Mieczyslaw, Marta Kurzeja and her husband Bogdan, Malgorzata Krason and her husband Slawomir and Barbara Zielinska.
Also surviving are his brothers, Czeslaw, Mieczyslaw, Stanislaw, Andzej, Juzef and sisters, Machalina Blusza, Janina Migala, Grazyna Trojan and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Zielinski was the devoted grandfather to Piotr and Darek Wasik, Elzbieta Kania, Natalia Gac, Klaudia Zieba, Eliasz and Sandra Krason and Liam Reilly. Great grandchildren are Lena Gac, Luiza Kania and Cezary Zieba.
After his retirement in 2007, Mr. Zielinski became an avid gardener, and he took much pride in the vegetables and flowers he produced. Always hard working and a master of many trades he kept busy with projects around the house. He was also an excellent cook, not only for Polish cuisine but Italian cuisine as well. A favorite dish was his sausage and peppers.
Throughout his life, he worked hard to support and provide for his family and was very generous with his time and talent; he would offer a lending hand not only to his friends but to anyone in need. His most notable characteristic was his big, loving heart and the belief that everyone deserved a second chance.
The many happy memories of his life are his legacy, and he will always be remembered and missed by his wife, daughters, grandchildren/great grandchildren, nieces, siblings, nephews and friends.
