Obituary Preview: Christy Lynn Johnson, 50, Charlotte, N.C., went to be with the Lord on Monday after an extended illness at Pineville Hospital, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of Mike Johnson and Carol Vallei.
Surviving are three children: Zak Venturato, Ciera Venturato and Carlie Venturato; three grandchildren: Gulianna Venturato, Alaria Venturato and Santino Venturato-Miller; her mother and father; a brother, Mike Johnson; two sisters: Amber Hoff and Jina Costa; her grandmother, Ethel Vallei; and a longtime friend, Jamie Swiger.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, John Vallei.
Christy was a graduate from Altoona Area High School in 1987 and the Altoona School of Commerce. She was an industrial engineer for 20 years at the Danaher-Kavo Kerr Co., which includes Veeder-Root Co. and Pelton & Crane.
She enjoyed watching movies with her children, shopping, cooking, doing arts and crafts for the seasons, and her all-time favorite, bingo and lottery tickets. Most of all, Christy enjoyed being a loving mother and grandmother.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at Leslie E. Axe Funeral Home, 1520 Fourth St., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. She was born in Altoona, daughter of Theodore P. and Edith (Sellers) Geist. She married Jeffrey Stanchek on Oct. 14, 1985.
Surviving are her mother; her beloved husband; her three children, to whom she was a loving mother: Daniel Mainello and Sarah and Devin Stanchek; and two brothers: Jeffrey (Sharon) and Christopher Geist.
She was preceded in death by her father; and her grandmother, Estella Sellers.
Cynthia was a 1978 graduate of Altoona Area High School and graduated from the LPN program at Admiral Peary Vo-Tech School.
A member of the former Grace United Methodist Church, Cynthia enjoyed collecting dolls and fairies. She loved her dog, Gwennie.

Surviving are many nieces and nephews, and she will be greatly missed by two special nieces, Judy and Linda. She was the last of many siblings.
Amanda was a loving and caring person who loved going to church on Sundays.

Obituary Preview: Jordan A. Over, 25, of Altoona passed away on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016 at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona son of Terrence and Marjorie (Maier) Over.
Jordan was a 2009 graduate of Altoona Area High School. He attended St. Francis University where he was a semester away from earning his BA in Spanish with a minor in sign language and was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Through his studies Jordan was able to travel where he served as ambassador to the study abroad program in Cuernavaca and Yucatan, Mexico and in Ambialet, France. He also interned in Valencia, Spain. Jordan also pursued a degree in audio engineering where he attended the Musicians Institute of L.A. in California.
He touched many lives with his gifted talents and abilities while working for Outreach 360, where he traveled and taught children in third world countries. He also shared his talents at the UPMC Altoona hospital where he served as a Spanish interpreter and also served as interpreter for a group of physical therapists on a trip to the Dominican Republic. Frank was a graduate of Altoona High School. He retired from Pacifico Bakery. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

She is also survived by her cousin Jean Moyer and family of Homers Gap and special friends Pat and Carol Riley of Pittsburgh. She was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Hedderman Jr. Ronnie was a graduate of Wilkinsburg High School. She worked for 40 years as a Dental Assistant. She enjoyed traveling, and Native American history, culture and music. She also was a former member of St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church. Harold Maxwell Hill - April 19, 1921 - July 04, 2015

Obituary Preview: Harold Maxwell Hill, 94, Altoona, passed away Saturday at Amber Terrace at Altoona Center for Nursing Care.
He was born in Juniata, son of the late Charles and Nora (Ewing) Hill. He married Winifred Norris on Jan. 1, 1942, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 11, 2014.
Surviving are three daughters: Wanda Cramer of Charleston, S.C., and Maxine Ricker and Cathy Zeak, both of Altoona; a son, Edwin of Altoona; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Diana Mae.
Harold was a 1939 graduate of Altoona High School and served in the U.S. Army in Panama during WWII. He retired from the Pennsylvania Railroad, where he had been an electrician. He was the oldest member of Fairview United Methodist Church, and one of his last responsibilities had been to visit the church members living in nursing homes.
Harold was a former amateur radio operator and model railroad enthusiast. He loved cats and had several faithful feline companions in his lifetime; he was always teased about having catnip in his blood. He was a quiet man with a good sense of humor and quick wit. He had an appreciation and love for music that defeated even Alzheimer's disease. When he was losing his way with remembering people and places, he could remember song titles and what instruments were being played. His last days were spent surrounded with the music he loved best. Now his music is stilled forever, but his song will live in the hearts of those who loved him.

Surviving are his loving wife of 55 years; five daughters: Sherri Creighton, Yvonne Creighton, Lori Crownover, Wendi Cadle and Kelley Creighton; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Barbara McCormick and Sandra Detweiler; and a brother, Robert.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Judy.
Frank was a 1958 graduate of Morrison Cove High School and retired from the U.S. Army as a master sergeant with 20 years of service. He enjoyed collecting and selling antiques and refinishing old furniture.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing or service.

Michael was a graduate of Altoona Area High School and worked for Union Roofing Co. He enjoyed spending time with his children.
A private service was held at the convenience of the family.

As a child, he played baseball for the pony league of the Pennsylvania Railroad and later pitched softball for the Altoona Hospital in the City Softball League.Roy was a member of Jaggard First United Methodist Church, where he had previously served on the board and was an usher. He was very active for many years in the Boy Scouts of America, first in Cub Scouts and then as scoutmaster of Troop 1 for 25 years. He was a member of the Order of the Arrow and attained the degree of Brotherhood. He attended two National Jamborees as scoutmaster for local council troops. He also served as a crew leader on a trip to Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, N.M. He received the District Award of Merit and the Silver Beaver Award.Roy enjoyed camping, cooking, fishing and car races.
