His leadership skills, focusing on men and mission, exemplified his servant leadership style. He enjoyed guard trips for 2-week summer camps or army schooling, but his favorite trip was 3 weeks spent in South Korea. In his 50’s he had the opportunity to be the welding instructor at Iowa Central Community College, focusing on integrity and safety. Tim retired from being a prison guard at Fort Dodge Correctional Facility in 2010.During his teens, Tim met a young girl who visited Council Bluffs to help her aunt. Holly lived just two doors down from his family home. In 1969 Tim married Jean Casey. Throughout his life Tim lived the belief of ‘God - Family - Country’. He was a devoted family man. In the mid 1970’s Tim and Jean decided to raise their family in Lu Verne, near Jean’s parents. Although Tim was raised in the city, he became a fixture at the Casey farm assisting during the busy seasons of planting and harvest as well as helping maintain equipment. You knew Tim had been somewhere because everything was clean, meticulously organized and properly repaired and maintained.Tim served his church as usher and for a time a church elder. For years one of his favorite church service projects was organizing and handing out Christmas Eve gift bags to the church children.Tim had a number of hobbies but the most surprising to those who knew him well was overcoming his fear of heights by becoming a private pilot. Tim enjoyed spending time with grandkids, taking all of them to the Henry Doorly zoo, playing uno, teaching some to drive (grasshoppering), saving old coins, traveling with his kids, taking long walks, and fishing/camping. Tim’s travels took him many places included swimming in the ocean in FL, hiking in CO, camping/fishing/hunting with Robert, attending the Oshkosh Fly In with his grandson and even snorkeling in Mexico. He was a practical joker and wonderful storyteller with exciting stories about his early life, military service and ‘the fish’ that got away.Tim is survived by his wife Jean, three daughters Pam (Phil) Kacmarynski, Jenni (Kendall) Simmons and Andrea Wredt. Papa, as he was known to his family, is also survived by seven grandchildren Casey Simmons, Wyatt Kacmarynski, Beth Simmons, Rose Wredt, Ana Kacmarynski, John Kacmarynski, and Ryder Wredt. Tim exemplified being papa, qualities much needed in our world, always being present as a protector, provider, teacher, role model, with love, care, devotion and attention.
