Obituary Preview: Delores Leona Aldis, 97, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Wednesday, August 26, 2020. Funeral services will take place at 11 am on Monday, August 31, at Lemke Funeral Homes – North Chapel (2304 N. Second St). A visitation occurs 1-hour prior from 10 am until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial immediately follows at Evergreen Cemetery - Sabula. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Delores was born September 4, 1922 in Medford, Wisconsin the daughter of John and Minnie (Ortwig) Duesing. She was united in marriage to Clifford Aldis on April 18, 1941 in DeKalb, Illinois – Clifford passed away in 2001.
Delores worked in management at Nielsen Clearing House for 25 years.
Delores was a skilled and established baker. Her niche was baking specialty cakes and wedding cakes. She was affectionately known as “Cookie Grandma”. She also enjoyed being outdoors and tending to her flower garden. Above all, she loved her family very much and will be sadly missed.
Delores is survived by her sisters – Dorothy Slachetka of Medford, WI and Mable Aldrink of Minneapolis, MN; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clifford and three sons - Robert, Bill and Michael.
