Departed: 05/14/2024 (Naples)
Obituary Preview: Mary Helen Fordham peacefully passed away on May 14 after a short illness, surrounded by her loving family. Her story began on December 1,1927 in Rodney, Ontario, Canada, where she was born to John and Barbara Messerschmid.
She went on to marry her high school sweetheart and had two sons before moving to the United States in 1952, where she welcomed the arrival of her two daughters.
Though caring for her young family, she was still very active in the community and volunteered at many social organizations and always cared about the welfare of others. She was known for her famous cookie recipe, and her quick wit and sense of humor brought joy to everyone she knew. Over the years, she lived in Connecticut, Ohio, Texas, and Tennessee before moving to Florida in 1990, where she spent her golden years in Naples. Her favorite pastime was playing Bridge and Bingo with friends, as well as cards with her family, even gloating a bit when she won---which was often!
Mary will be dearly missed by her four children: Larry (Vikki), Dale (Nancy), Janet (Tom), and Amy (David), and her seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life in her honor will be held Thursday May 16th at The Carlisle Naples (6945 Carlisle Ct, Naples 34109) from 3 to 5 PM.
