Richard "Ric" Sarrach - June 21, 1950 - May 21, 2024

Departed: 05/21/2024 (Macomb)
Obituary Preview: Richard “Ric” Sarrach, passed away on May 21, 2024, age 73. He was born on June 21, 1950, in Detroit, MI to Vincent and Helen Melcher Sarrach. Richard was a loving and devoted husband to his wife Lisa, a loving father to his two children Rick (Tamaki) Sarrach and Amy (Mick) Sirko and and a loving Papa to his two grandsons, Luke and Chase and step-grandson, Nash Arnoldink.
Ric graduated from Osborne High School in 1968. He played the tuba and trumpet in the marching band. In a note to a bygone Era, he could go home at lunch and bring his rifle back to school for target practice.
During his younger years Ric, an adrenaline junkie, raced his hydroplane, owned one fast car after another, played softball and hockey with reckless abandon and well beyond the age he should have. But as a final goodbye to recklessness for his 50th birthday he learned how to draft a race car and do 100 laps at Lowe’s International Speedway.
Ric spent his entire working career in the automotive industry, first as a Sheet Metal apprentice in 1968. He then went on to work for the same company as his father, Gallagher-Kaiser in Detroit. After approximately 15 years, Ric began his project management career first at Price-Westen, Inc. ending with Durr Industries in 2015.
After being brought out of retirement twice, he finally said no more and was ready to start traveling with Lisa which unhappily ended far too soon.
In retirement, Ric found numerous projects around the house to keep him busy and in trouble, with many trips inside to bandage the latest wound, put ice on an aching head or give his wife a heart attack with all the near misses falling into the canal.
Heading out on the boat for a ride, sitting on the front porch solving the world’s problems with his senior posse and a cold beer was a fine way of passing an afternoon. Summers spent on the back deck with friends, family, Lisa and their 3 rd child, Harley, a 10-year-old, 180 lb Great Dane looking out at the lake and the sun beating down on his face were a near perfect scenario for Ric; perfect would have been all those things 365 days a year.
Beloved husband to Lisa Sarrach; proud father to Richard Sarrach (Tamaki Uchikawa) and Amy (Mick) Sirko; proud Papa to Luke, Chase, and Nash.
Joined in Heaven by his loving parents, Vincent and Helen, and his brother Tom.

Irmgard was always happy to paint, color and do puzzles with her great- great nieces Sydney, Teeghan and Elliott.  She was always amazed how well they could draw, color and use a laptop! She was very proud of them! She has fond memories of Sydney as a little kid being able to use a tablet and play games and “keep herself occupied”! These three little dogs would sit on her lap and watch Hallmark Movies, try to steal her slippers and sit by her chair looking for any snacks that may fall. I recently heard Irmgard singing to one of them; and I knew “Sassy” was stealing her yarn when I heard her say “Leave it Sassy!” Irmgard especially laughed at “Sassy” licking her ankles dry after she took a shower!
Though we are saddened by her death we are comforted to know she is once again reunited with Jim, her family and is at peace.

Shirley Marie Hunter - August 19, 1934 - April 06, 2024

Departed: 04/06/2024 (Macomb)
Obituary Preview: Shirley Marie Hunter The world lost one of its kindest souls with the passing of Shirley Hunter on April 6, 2024. Shirley passed comfortably, surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born in Frostburg, Maryland in 1934 to Robert and Marjorie Duncan. After graduating high school, Shirley moved to Detroit and like many young adults began working at Chrysler. There she met her husband Mitchell (aka Mitch, Red or Coy) Hunter. They married soon thereafter and started a family, wherein Shirley became a full-time Mom (and if you know her sons, you know just how tough that job was!) Shirley and Mitch raised a beautiful family together. They were involved in a number of Masonic organizations and the Jefferson Chapter 489 of the Eastern Star. Through those organizations they made a legion of close friends, living and deceased, too numerous to mention. Shirley loved spending time with family in Frostburg, Maryland and Mitch’s hometown in Livingston, Tennessee. As the family grew, Shirley welcomed each new member, daughters-in-law, a son-in-law, grandkids, pets, and eventually great grandkids with the widest possible arms, a heart impossibly full of love and the absolute best baked goods any of them had ever eaten (Including the pets). She would teach her new daughters-in-law how to bake, cook and love to the point that the “in law” was removed, and they all became her daughters. She turned a shy little terrier into a lapdog after one dog sitting visit. She was adored by anyone and everyone who came into contact with her. Her smile and laugh lit up rooms and she loved a good joke, (especially dirty jokes, but she would have been a bit embarrassed to admit it.) Shirley had a giving spirit and heart to anyone in need and never went anywhere empty-handed. Even in her later years when her health was failing, it would have taken a small army to prevent her from bringing cookies, cheesecakes and other desserts to a family gathering. Shirley lived to make the people she loved happy and every single one of them is better because of their time with her. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell Hunter, her daughter Carolyn Hunter, her granddaughter Nicole Hunter, her brother Robert Duncan, sister Dolores Wummel and her dear neighbor and friend Veronica “Hunter”Myers. She was survived by her children, Ricky Hunter, Ken and Michelle DeBeaussaert, Perry Hunter, Ranee Naschak, Jerry and Sandra Hunter and Robert and Debby Hunter as well as 11 grandkids and nine great grandkids. Shirley’s life will be celebrated by her family at a private event. Donations can be made to Turning Point, where Shirley volunteered her time later in life at their Second Hand Rose Resale Shop. Arrangements were handled with care and compassion by the Lee-Ellena Funeral Home.
