Nancy L Myers - May 11, 1952 - April 12, 2024

Departed: 04/12/2024 (Bolivar)
Obituary Preview: Nancy L. Myers (Vandevort), 71 (soon to be 72), of Canton, went home to be in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, while surrounded by her family and friends at her bedside, on April 12, 2024, after an almost 3 year battle with breast cancer.  Born on May 11, 1952 at Union Hospital in Dover, OH, she was the daughter of Norman L. Vandevort and Mary K. Vandevort (Leggett).  She grew up with her siblings, in Zoar and Zoarville, Ohio, where she attended Tusky Valley High School, graduating with the class of 1970.  She married her husband of 43 years, Darius O. Myers of Magnolia, OH, on March 14, 1981 at the Magnolia Methodist Church.
Nancy worked in many different work environments over the years and was very quick to learn new skills needed to do her job.  She is retired from The Heinz Frozen Food Company in Massillon where she worked for more than 20 years. Nancy was the type of woman who knew no strangers and to those that she loved, she loved well!  She was the life of the party and was a giver by nature.  If she didn’t have it to give she would find a way to help. She loved her family and closest friends most of all and always had stories to share about good times had with all of them.  Her personality drew everyone to her and her laugh was contagious and unforgettable.  She was selfless and constantly worried about the welfare of others, especially the ones she loved the most.  She has been quoted as saying that her favorite person in the world was her only grandson and was beyond excited to find out that she would be a grandma for the first time, in spite of being like a grandma to many of her nieces and nephews as well.  Nancy is an unforgettable and remarkably kind and loving soul whose legacy will remain forever in the hearts of the many who have gotten to know her and love her over the years.  She will be greatly missed!
Nancy is survived by her only son Michael P. Vandevort and her only grandson Kanyon Vandevort-Moore, both of Canton; her husband of 43 years Darius O. Myers of Canton, her two sisters Barbara (Dean) Slutz of Magnolia, Terry R. Davidson of Canton, and her many nieces and nephews and other extended family and close friends.  Nancy is preceded in death by both her parents; her oldest brother John S. Vandevort (Punk); her older sister Kathy L Bordner; and her youngest brother William L. Vandevort.
A graveside service will be held Friday, April 19, 2024 at 1:30 PM at Zoar Cemetery with Pastor Noah Schumacher officiating.  The Lebold-Smith Funeral Home in Bolivar is handling the arrangements.  To share a memory, please visit the funeral home's web site.
