In her retirement, Nancy had many hobbies which included fishing, jigsaw puzzles, raising orchids, BINGO, and attending church at Inskip Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee. In the 1960's and 70's, Nancy could be found at any given concession stand supporting the sports that helped shape her children and their friends. Nancy served as the Mother Advisor for The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, and served as a chaperone for many hayrides and early Saturday morning doughnut sales. Nancy was also a member of The Order of the Eastern Star, whose mission was to improve mankind through charitable works.
After moving to Legacy Village in Cleveland, Nancy was no longer able to attend her beloved Inskip Baptist Church, but she could often be found attending one of the many services offered at Legacy. The family would like to thank the Chaplains at Legacy who provided prayer and comfort to Nancy as she took her leave from those she loved. Nancy could also be found most often at the weekly BINGO games, giving love to animals for pet therapy day, and eating cake or ice cream as the residents celebrated each other’s birthdays. Legacy Village also has a table where residents can work on jigsaw puzzles and Nancy enjoyed the challenge of those puzzles quite often. Nancy had many friends who bought new jigsaw puzzles for all the residents to enjoy.
Nancy's family wishes to thank Windsor Gardens in Knoxville, Tennessee for caring for her during the pandemic of 2020, Legacy Village of Cleveland for their care since 2021, Hearth Hospice (in particular Scott) for the quality of life they provided to Nancy the past year, and certainly to Jenny and Ashley at Legacy for the words of encouragement and love right up to the end of her life.

The service will be held at 1:00 with Leach Family Funeral Home in Caryville serving Nancy's family. Although Nancy is no longer here to love on the puppies or to work a jigsaw puzzle, her family asks that you consider a charitable contribution to your local animal shelter or to your local Assisted Living facility.

Michael, known as Mike, was born to Doyle and Minnie Queener on March 1st, 1960 in Lake City, TN. He has always had a love for hunting, fishing, and wood working. He is preceded in death by his father Doyle Queener.

To his special hunting buddies: he loved you dearly, and at times probably shared more with you than he did his family. You were very special to him, and know who you are.
“Sometimes at the close of a long race, I find myself in a coma, standing alone in the trail with the chains in my hand. Suddenly I awaken. Yes, the last one of my old pals are gone! It can’t be, I say. They must have followed the hounds to the far edge of the big swamp. I’ll wait awhile and see if they don’t come back. These are sad thoughts, my eyes fill with tears as I slowly walk away. Soon I will be going where they are and together, as of old, we will be standing on the hilltop to catch the thrills as the pack breaks over the ridge and coming closer. Yes, it’s the same old pack we listened to while in the flesh. I can hear their voices now as the music fades and I watch them slip one by one over the Great Divide that leads to the Valley below. There will be NO CHECKS THIS TIME and THE RACE WILL NEVER END and THE MUSIC WILL NEVER DIE! And when at long last the sun, for me, goes down a flaming red and I close the kennel door for the last time, I will wave to you from the rim of the canyon, and if you will listen, you will hear me softly saying, ‘Bye now, my friends. It’s been nice to know you.’” — From Wilderness Patchwork by Willet Randall The family will receive friends at the Leach Family Funeral Home and Cremation on Wednesday May 15th, 2024 from 5-7pm with the funeral service to follow at 7pm with Reverend Justin Howard and Reverend Eddie Oxendine officiating.
