She was a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, and preceded in death by her Mother: Florence Kathy Hatcher Moses on Nov. 29, 1997, Maternal Grandparents: Billy Joe and Lena "Midge" Lingerfelt Hatcher, Paternal Grandparents: George and Connie Nelson Moses. She received her B.S. Degree from TWU and MBA at TUI University. She  served as a  human resource manager for two industrial plant., Hospice  Volunteer Coordinator for Caris Healthcare, and most recently employed as a CNA  at  Dominion Senior Living. She passed away of a broken heart due to separation for her precious Jade and complication of Diabetes and cancer. She loved and served our Lord as a mighty prayer warrior. McCARTER, age 80 of Athens, Tn. passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at Tennova Turkey Creek Medical Center in Knoxville, Tn.  He was a native of Knoxville, Tenn., resident most of his life of McMinn County, Tenn. a son of the late James and Myrtle Garner McCarter and preceded in death by his Brother: Danny McCarter.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Decatur. Dr. McCarter was called  to Preach at the age of 19 and served many churches in the Knoxville area, McMinn and Meigs County. He was Pastor Emeritus of Zion Hill Baptist Church. After retirement he served many churches as Interim Pastor. He was a native of Columbia, Tenn., resident of McMinn County, Tenn. for 44 years, a son of the late Raymond Owen and Mary Alice Moore Perry, and preceded in death by Sister: Mary Katherine Holland.  He was a Graduate of Muscle Shoals High School He was an Electrical QA/QC Engineer for more than 30 years in the nuclear power industry and was employed by TVA and several other companies. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was a member of I. B. E. W. and former member of Chilhowee Rod and Gun Club. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, serving during the Vietnam Conflict.  Survivors: Wife of 50 years: Suellen Corum Perry of Athens, Tenn.,  Son and Daughter-in-law: Christopher and Shelly Perry of Knoxville, Tenn., Two Daughters and sons-in-law: Jennifer and Matthew Ronne of Athens, Tenn., and Hannah and John  Kilpatrick of Knoxville, Tenn. D. Walden, and Hardin Walden.  Survivors: Nieces and Nephews Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Darrell Walden and Rev. Curtis Porter officiating. Oran and Virginia Bryant Creasman. He was a member of East Athens Baptist Church, and enjoyed working with his hands, helping others, and was a good handiman.  He loved dogs, collected many things, and really loved his nieces and nephews, Survivors; Two brothers and one sister and  spouses; Ronnie and Shannon Creasman of Athens, Missy and Rodney Ammons of Athens, Miles and Katy Creasman of Knoxville; Seven nieces and nephews, and four great-nieces and nephews. A native and lifelong resident of  McMinn County, she was the daughter of the late Frank Uriah "U.R." and Mary Ethel Graves Payne.  She and her husband built their own successful trucking company before retiring. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Terry Carroll; sons, Woodrow J. "Chuck" Fritz and James Ronald "Ronnie" Fritz.; siblings, Rose Mary Moses, Priscilla Payne Johnson, Juanita Williams, Alma Jackson, and Frank Lee Payne. Survivors; Daughter and son-in-law, Holly Lynn and John Stickler of Athens; son and daughter-in-law, Roger Dale and Bambi Williams of Athens; granddaughters, Heidi Melissa Wade, and Melissa Nicole Rodgers;  Grandsons, Woody Wade, Dale Williams and wife Lonisa, Charles Williams, Jamie Fritz and Jacob Williams; Great grandchildren, Samantha Lones, Nick Williams, Brooke Terry and John Fritz. Obituary Preview: ROBERT ANTHONY (TONY) FARRELL,  age 73, of Etowah, Tenn.  departed this life Saturday, May 29, 2021, after a courageous battle with colon cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia (Jo) Martin and Paul Farrell. Tony was born in McMinn County and attended Englewood Elementary and graduated from Englewood High School in 1965. He went to college in Florida and graduated from Palm Beach Atlantic University in Palm Beach. After graduation he worked in Florida for a few years. He returned to East Tennessee and worked for the City of Chattanooga until his retirement. After retirement he wanted to return to McMinn County where he thoroughly enjoyed meeting up with old friends: Dean Reynolds and Jerry Martin. Tony loved to travel, collect antiques, and work in his yard. Survivors: Aunt:: Bobbie (Kenny) Dickson of Englewood, Tenn., Uncle: Kendall (Doris) Armstrong of Englewood, Tenn., and a host of cousins.  Graveside services will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 8, 2021 in McMinn Memory Gardens with Hospice Chaplain Brent Stewart officiating. Brenda Kay Plaster - September 04, 1951 - May 23, 2021

Obituary Preview: Brenda Sledge Plaster, 69, retired school teacher and guidance counselor, member of East Niota Baptist Church, and longtime resident of Decatur, TN, went to her heavenly home on May 23, 2021.  Brenda was not only a devoted wife to her husband of 52 years but she was also devoted to numerous church families as she spent her entire married life being a pastor's wife and working in the ministry with children and youth.  She was also a loving mother to her own 3 children and a nurturing Gramma to 9 beautiful grandchildren.  She was surrounded by these special loved ones at the time of her passing.
Brenda was born on September 4, 1951 in Sweetwater, TN to the late Merle Thompson Sledge & late Earl Sledge.  While raising 3 children, Brenda enrolled at Lee University to earn her bachelor's degree in education.  Later on, she continued her education at Lee University to earn her Master's Degree in school counseling.  By the time Brenda retired from education at age 62, she had touched the lives of thousands of children and made an enormous impact on this community.
She is survived by her husband, Rev. Jerry Plaster, of Decatur, TN; daughters, Amy (Ronnie) Woods & Tessa (Sammy) Perkinson; son, Jamey (Mikki) Plaster, all of Decatur, TN; grandchildren, Levi, Kelsey, & Kyndal Woods; Bailey & Hannah Perkinson; Dylan, Christopher, Brook & Samantha Plaster; sister, Carolyn Chambers of Sweetwater, TN; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family of Sweetwater and Athens,TN.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father; sister, Hula Young; Brothers, R.L. & Lowell Sledge.
A visitation for family and friends will take place Tuesday, May 25, 2021 from 4:00 P.M.- 7:00 P.M. at East Niota Baptist Church in Niota, TN.  The funeral service will take place immediately following visitation at 7:00 P.M. with Rev. Wayne Bryant & Rev. Mike Bernard officiating the service.  The burial will be Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Niota Cemetery at 1:30 P.M.  Pallbearers for the burial will be special family members and friends including:  Ronnie Woods, Sammy Perkinson, Levi Woods, Dylan Plaster, Christopher Plaster, Joe Toomey & Jerone Pritchett.

Obituary Preview: Carl Edward Creasman, 83, passed away at home to then enter his heavenly home with Jesus Christ on Monday May 17, 2021.  Rev. Creasman is survived by his wife Roberta, married for 60 years, children Christina Denise Creasman Mason (husband Clay) and Carl Edward Creasman Jr (wife Kim).  His grandchildren are Bill Mason, Shelley Mason Gandy (husband Bert), Samuel Mason (wife Siera), Jonathan Mason (wife Amber), Logan Creasman, Cara Mason, Meryn Creasman, and Brynn Creasman.  His great-grandchildren are Tyler Gandy, Brooke Mason, Danielle Mason, Christian Mason, and Emerson Gandy.
Rev Creasman was born in Riceville TN on January 28, 1938, the last of 12 children of Rev. Jesse W. and Mary Ollie Creasman.  He was educated in the Athens/McMinn County School systems, graduating from McMinn County High School in 1956, then received a Bachelor of Science - Electrical Engineering (BSEE) degree from Auburn University, a Master of Science – Electronics Engineering (MSEE) from The University of Tennessee, and an Educational Specialist (EDS) degree from the University of Tennessee.
Rev Creasman was an Ordained Baptist Minister, serving 58 years in bi-vocational ministry.  He was the Senior Pastor at Rocky Mount Baptist Church and Associate Minister at North Etowah Baptist Church. Carl also served as Minister of Youth, Minister of Music, Minister of Pre-School and Children in numerous churches in Tennessee, Alabama and Florida.  Later in his ministry years, Carl became a licensed Parliamentarian and served many local churches and  organizations, as well as the Tennessee Baptist Convention, as Parliamentarian.
Rev Creasman‘s initial career after college was as an Electronics Engineer, working in the Aerospace Industry with Martin Marietta in Orlando, FL, then later at Westinghouse Electric in Athens TN and at the Clinch River Breeder Reactor in Oak Ridge TN prior to entering the education field in 1976.  Carl taught for 28 years at the McMinn County Vocational Center where he taught Vocational Electronics, Computer Programming and Computer Repair.
During his teaching career, Rev. Creasman was the SkillsUSA (formerly VICA) coordinator. His students enjoyed success as state and national officers and as competitors. 10 of the first 12 years of the SkillsUSA Quiz Bowl competition, his teams placed in the top 3 nationally. He lovingly served with SkillsUSA contests and training for over 50 years. Following his retirement from teaching in 2001, Carl continued serving as a technical consultant for the Tennessee SkillsUSA Secondary Association, providing chapter building advice and contest feedback to chapter advisors.  In 2004, Rev Creasman became the first State Director for Tennessee SkillsUSA Postsecondary Association, retiring in 2012.
He received numerous awards through education including Tennessee Distinguished Classroom Teacher in 2000, Tennessee SkillsUSA Advisor of the Year in 1993 and 1996, McMinn County Teacher of the Year in 1988 and 1998, National SkillsUSA Life Membership award in 2014, and the Athens Optimist Club Lifetime Achievement in Education award in 2001.
Rev. Creasman loved baseball, devoted to his Los Angeles Dodgers, and college sports, especially Auburn University and the University of Tennessee. He invested a lifetime into computers and technology.  Mostly Carl loved cheering on his grandchildren in their many endeavors and worshipping his God with his wife by his side.
The family will hold a memorial service at First Baptist Church on Saturday June 5 at 1:00 pm, receiving friends afterwards. He will be interred in the Creasman family cemetery near Eastanallee Baptist Church.

Obituary Preview: Nola Jean Brown Lane, 83, went home to be with the Lord on May 1, 2021.   A lifelong resident of Riceville, Tennessee, she was born to George A. Sr. and Kate Walsh Brown on February 24, 1938.   She attended Riceville Elementary and Riceville Junior High and played basketball.  She graduated from McMinn County High School in 1956.   She was a member of Riceville First Baptist Church, and later Eastanallee Baptist Church and was active with the Silver Stars.  Her faith and trust in God guided her throughout her life and all her interactions with family, friends, and strangers.   She served as a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School volunteer, choir member, and provided assistance for countless church meals and special events.    Her children Larry and Teresa were most fortunate to have her as a mother.    She was a devoted and skilled homemaker and enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, gardening, and preserving food.   She had an amazing way of stretching the family budget and found a way to provide opportunities for education and enrichment for both her children.  All who knew her will remember her kindness and sage advice.  At various times, she provided childcare for all four of her grandchildren and they recall fondly her grilled cheese sandwiches, cinnamon toast, fried apple pies, apple stack cake and coconut cream cake.  She made quilts for each of her grandchildren, and they treasure her handiwork.  She was a devoted wife of 54 years to Dewey Lake Lane and was by his side through life, work, illness and death.   After Dewey’s death she credited her wonderful friends at the Eastanallee women’s exercise group for providing her with support, encouragement and love.  She often commented that they were her “therapy” group.   She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister Georgia Marie.  She is survived by brothers Doris L. Brown and wife Brenda, George A. Brown Jr. and wife Carolyn; son Larry Lane, daughter Teresa Lane Fulcher and husband Robert; her grandchildren Lindsey Witten (John), Kevin Lane (Jessica), Russell Fulcher, and Katherine Fulcher; her great grandchildren Melody and Maddy Witten; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
