Departed: 05/09/2021 (Southern Laurel County)
Obituary Preview: Tata Barker January 20, 2005 - May 9, 2021
Tata was brought home as a kitten to Kennedy when she was about 6 months old by her dad. They instantly bonded and became best friends. Tata wanted to be anywhere Kennedy was and always met her when she came in the door. She actually done that with everyone, she was always excited to see people! She was the best snuggle buddy and knew when you were sick or sad and would lay right by your side. Tata was Kennedy’s loyal best friend for 16 years and Kenley’s for 10 years. Tata was a sweet, lovable and lazy cat, always wanting to sleep. Tata gave us many happy memories. She will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts and minds! TaTa was cremated under the direction of the Pet Cremation Service provided by Laurel Funeral Home. There’s something missing in my home, I feel it day and night, I know it will take time and strength before things feel quite right But just for now, I need to mourn,
My heart- it needs to mend. Though some may say, “It’s just a pet,”
I know I’ve lost a friend. You’ve brought such laughter to my home,
and richness to my days. A constant friend through joy or loss
With gentle, loving ways. Companion, friend, and confidante,
A friend I won’t forget. You’ll live forever in my heart,
My sweet, forever pet.

Princess Amber - August 20, 2006 - February 21, 2021

Departed: 02/21/2021 (Southern Laurel County)
Obituary Preview: Aug. 2006 - Feb. 2021
Amber was born in the wild and brought home to a life of luxury! She was destined for princess hood. She filled that roll perfectly. She trained her servants to fill her every desire! Day or night. She followed them everywhere to make sure things were just right and when she was satisfied, she slept the day away. If a food bowl was half empty, that didn't go well with her! Everything had to be topped off. Her servants were required to stand next to the food bowl while she ate just in case they were needed. She had her own chair and a large painting of her sleeping hung above her chair. She ran a tight ship and nothing was amiss without her investigating it. She loved to sit or lay on the plastic shopping bags whenever they were available to her. She loved her servants and they loved her! She will always be in our hearts and missed greatly! R.I.P Princess Amber.
Amber was cremated under the direction of the pet cremation services of Laurel Funeral Home.

Snowflake "Snowflakey" Eaton - December 29, 2020 - December 26, 2020

Departed: 12/26/2020 (Southern Laurel County)
Obituary Preview: Snowflake (“Snowflakey”) Eaton
Snowflake Eaton departed this earthly life at her residence somewhat suddenly in the early hours of December 26, 2020. She was surrounded by her human family and her bonded mate Oreo (“Little Bunny”). Believed to have been born in 2007 or 2008, Snowflake lived through four presidential elections, two global recessions, and the debut of the Apple iPad and Tik Tok. Despite long-standing health conditions and an original projected lifespan of only six years, Snowflake proved us all wrong. With her “never give up” spirit, she was still jumping up on fireplaces until the day before she died as a teenage bunny.
Snowflake’s signature trait was her matter-of-fact, no-nonsense demeanor, which is believed to have been derived from her Dutch lineage. Originally a Hoosier, Snowflake eventually expanded her roots to her Kentucky home where she would take one month old “Little Bunny” under her wing, teaching him all about how to be a big and brave bunny.  Always up for an adventure, Snowflake made trips through West Virginia, Tennessee and Maryland, where she and Little Bunny and their people spent a winter on a blueberry farm.  There, they took up volunteerism, donating their manure to fertilize acres of plump delicious organic blueberries to feed families across the region without charge.  After permanently moving back to Kentucky, she continued to donate fertilizer for beautiful flowers grown for sale at the Southern Kentucky Farmer’s Market.   In her spare time, Snowflake enjoyed straightening up the wrinkles in area rugs and rearranging misplaced items in her room.  She and Little Bunny also enjoyed cardboard crafting, playing the occasional game on Teach and Treat, a rabbit board game and eating lots of hay.  In 2016, she developed a new talent for chewing creative shapes out of paper, starting her own hobby business entitled “Snowflakes by Snowflake,” and hiring Little Bunny as her apprentice to make crafts for friends.   She also mastered the art of bunny sign language to communicate with her people, flapping rubber tiles, giving the side eye, saying “please” and pointing at various objects with her nose.
Snowflake had an impeccable sense of timing, reminding her humans down to the minute when it was time for breakfast and dinner.  That time, which she determined, would be 8:28 AM and PM on the dot.
Snowflake never tasted a vegetable or met a person she didn’t like.  A connoisseur of the freshest organic herbs and vegetables, she ate a hearty breakfast and dinner salad every morning and night along with hay and the occasional treat of dried Chamomile, Lavender, and Red Clover flowers.
