Obituary Preview: Bassey Solomon Bassey, a father, brother, and friend, passed away on the afternoon of May 13th, 2024 in Hollywood, Florida.
Bassey was born to Solomon and Nkoyo Bassey in Akai Ubium, Akwa Ibom, Nigeria on November 24th, 1955. Bassey loved education and leadership, going on to attend a teacher’s college in Nigeria. He immigrated to the United States in the early 1980s to attend Indiana University as an international student. Bassey obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s in Business Administration while working full-time. Throughout Bassey’s life, he demonstrated diligence and dedication to hard work. He held roles in various fields, including union work, healthcare administration, hospitality, transportation, and insurance.
Bassey was a devout Christian, with a profound belief in the word of God. Bassey was passionate about music and an avid sports enthusiast, enjoying soccer, tennis, golf, and wrestling. He was interested in current events and global affairs. In his free time, Bassey also enjoyed watching action movies and television shows. Though often reserved, he was a charismatic man, loving to laugh and recall funny stories.
Bassey is survived by his three children from previous marriages: Maggie, Victor, and Gabriel. He is also survived by his siblings Mrs. Adiaha Johnson and Mr. Ibiok Solomon Bassey, who reside in Nigeria. There are many other relatives and friends whose names are too numerous to list, but they are not forgotten. As we remember Bassey for his impact on our lives, we know he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

children, five of whom preceded him in death: two sisters, Sylvia Wallace and Molly Ann Graham, and three brothers, Cal Graham, Clarence Graham, and George Graham.
Michael was also preceded in death by one son, Travis Underhill.
Michael attended Attucks High School, graduating in 1972. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army and later worked in maintenance before retiring in 2020. In his free time, Michael enjoyed BBQs with his family, often feeding people in the neighborhood. He also loved fishing and watching his favorite football team, the Miami Dolphins, win or lose. Michael was dedicated to putting his family and loved ones first. Michael leaves to cherish his loving and most memorable memories his wife of 37 years, Marcia R. Graham, and his five children: Michael Allen Graham Jr., Cedrick R. Dawkins, Quuania Grayson (L. Jackie Sr.), Julius I. Underhill, and James L. Graham. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Chimere Grayson, Jackie Grayson Jr., Cedrick Dawkins Jr., Ja'Quez Grayson, Kimora Dawkins, Sasha Thomas, and Julianna Underhill; and one great-grandson, Ka'shaun Dawkins. Additionally, Michael is survived by
two brothers, Leroy Graham of Lake City, South Carolina, and Phillip Graham of Germany; one goddaughter, Niema Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

She always enjoyed planting in her garden, cooking, baking, Jamaican fruit cakes and caring for her grandchildren, her cats, and dog. There is never a time you visit her home and she did not offer
you food before your visit ended because that was her love language.
She also enjoy horses racing and we often go to the track to watch the horses race and she would leave with happiness. Her caring words to her family and friends when you going through anything was to pray and leave it to God to handle it.  She love her two children and all her grandchildren, however she was never one to turn her head if you were messing up and let you know how she felt without any filler because that’s who she is and who she was.
Her life long objective was to be kind and always live a clean and independent life. she loved life and the simple things that life had tooffered her until her last breathe.

His career later led him to Vista BMW in Coconut Creek, Florida. His dedication to his work was paralleled by his involvement in various associations, where he contributed generously with his time and expertise.
Stephen’s life was a testament to the love he had for his family. He was a family man and devoted to his family wife and children and was the treasured son of Claudette Williams. His siblings, along with aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends formed the rich tapestry of his life. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and his actions reflected his deep commitment to their happiness and well-being.
Those who knew Stephen (Neil) were touched by his remarkable spirit. He approached life with a warmth and generosity that left an indelible mark on the hearts of those around him. His ability to connect with people on a genuine level was one of his most admirable qualities. Stephen’s laughter was infectious, and his kindness was evident in his everyday actions to everyone.
In his leisure, Stephen could often be found surrounded by loved ones, sharing stories, and creating memories that would last a lifetime. His passion for life was evident in everything he did, from his professional achievements to the simple joys of spending time with his family and friends.
As we say farewell to Stephen George Neil Austin, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest.  His legacy is one of love, kindness, and an unwavering zest for life. He was the youngest of five children, two preceded him in death.  Darryl’s education began in the Broward County Public
School System in Ft Lauderdale where he graduated from Plantation High School in 1982. He was a proud participant of Junior Achievement USA throughout the years. Darryl left Ft. Lauderdale to matriculate at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. And, soon afterwards he began his lifelong work in the insurance industry, receiving many achievement accolades along life’s path. Though Darryl had the privilege of living in many different cities throughout the country and traveling about, his favorite thing to do was reading. He really loved reading
books, spending time with family, laughing and oftentimes wearing a smile on his face. Also, he was a “foodie of sorts” as he loved food cultures as well as different foods, not only out of hunger but as a leisure pursuit. All in all, Darryl was a very private, fun loving, and caring person, never wanting to worry anyone about his wellbeing. Darryl gave his heart to the Lord and was water baptized at the tender age of ten. He so loved the Lord that he faithfully attended worship services with his family and/or friends every Sunday morning, no matter where he lived. To support his mother and siblings, Willie was forced to resign from his education and became a construction worker. Later in years Willie became a dependable and dedicated employee of the Broward County School Board as head custodian until he retired 25 years later. He attended and became a dedicated deacon for a total of 38 years at Highway Holiness Church of Christ/New Covenant Deliverance Cathedral under the leadership of Bishop Ralph Grissett. On wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 6:48pm god called for Willie ‘s earthly body to become a glorified one. He leaves to cherish his memories with the love of his life, Nita Taylor-Fox. Darren was taller, a family man, and a funny soul, he was constantly laughing. He will be truly missed! Obituary Preview: Oremus Merisier, age 96 passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of April 12, 2024. Oremus was born on February 28, 1928, in
Petit-Trou-De-Nippes, Haiti, to Ylora and Dauphernes Merisier. Oremus was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.  He was a quiet man of strength and determination, humble, generous, thoughtful and deeply respectful. He started his career as a Taxi driver in Haiti while studying at Behrmann Motors to earn his Mechanic certificate. At the completion of his studies, he married the love of his life Therese Walter and together they embarked on a journey filled with love and companionship. He bravely left Haiti for the Bahamas, paving the way for a better life for his family. His wife later joined him and they settled in Lewis Yard, Grand Bahama. Oremus used his education and skills as a Mechanic and became an entrepreneur in the Bahamas where he quickly was well known as the trusted, auto mechanic serving his community with dedication and integrity. He would obtain the nickname “Boss Merisier” or “Boss”. In 1998, he relocated to the United States, where he would continue his love for
auto repair at Broward Taxi, working there for 11 years before retiring in 2009. In his retirement, Oremus found joy in raising his grandchildren, gardening, traveling and passing on his knowledge of cars to the younger generation. He was a pillar of strength and support for his family and friends.
Oremus is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Therese as well as his daughter Orisandra (Rashad), their son Richard (Kesha), and the twins Alice, and Allan (Johane).
Grand children: Allyssia, Nathaniel, Jeremiah, Elijah, Jonah and Micah Sisters: Annite Merisier (deceased), Tazi Merisier (deceased) Brothers: Rodschild Lamarre (deceased), Gladys Merisier (deceased), Carlo Merisier (deceased) Nephews and Nieces: Mamie Merisier and Jean Cesar (Tazi), Burel, Lanot and Moliere Labissiere (Annite), Marie-Lud (Gladys), Alexandra Walter , Daniel Walter, Mones, Jacko, JeanJean, Roneb Lamarre (Rodchild), Marie-Marthe and Yvon Merisier (Carlo) Cousins: Liz Lamarre, Francis Lamarre, Amelida Lamarre and Adrienne Lamarre Friends: Carnot Louis Family, the Leger Family, the Walter Family, the Roberts Family, the Muhammad & Griffin Family, Michel Petit-Frere and a host of other beloved and cherished friends and family in the Bahamas, Haiti and the US. Oremus was wonderfully cared for by his caretakers namely: Sabrina, Alfred, Carline and Sonia from Homemakers Companions.   Oremus’s legacy will be carried on through his family, who embody the values he held dear such as strength and perseverance and the importance of family. As we bid farewell to Oremus, we celebrate his
life and the love he shared with us. His memory will forever be etched in our hearts. May his soul rest in peace.

Alphanso Barnes - October 22, 1932 - April 10, 2024

Obituary Preview: Alphanso “Rocky”Barnes was known by many as humble, funny and always the life of the party. Rocky was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was predeceased by his wife Joan (2022) and transitioned peacefully on April 10, 2024, at 91 years old.
He was also preceded in death by his parents Hubert and Alice, as well as his siblings. Doxy, (Jamaica), Donald, Evie and Nella who all lived in England. He is survived by his children Karlene, Leighton, Kevin and Simone (Dwayne), grandsons Sevin, Warren, Brenton and Dylan, nieces, nephews, other relatives and countless friends.
“Phanso” studied agriculture at Dinthill Technical High School and upon graduation, he taught agriculture at Stony Hill Reform School. He was a hard worker and served the Jamaica Ministry of Health’s Mosquito Eradication Program and University of the West Indies Scientific Research Council in various capacities. In later years Alphanso the entrepreneur, launched out into business with family members and owned a gas station and later a driving school.
Rocky was a lifelong resident of Meadowbrook Estate, St. Andrew, Jamaica, where his neighbors became like family over the years. The Barnes household was always a welcoming place for friends and family. and his loss will be felt by all who knew him.
Our family will always be grateful for his life and legacy. We are comforted by the assurance that one day God will turn our mourning into joy when we see him again.

love she poured into the lives of those around her. Sonia grew up under the warm guidance of her father, Hector Campbell, and her mother, Louise Campbell. She is the third of seven children to her parents. Her early years in Jamaica were filled with the vibrant culture and spirit of the island, which she carried with her throughout her life. Sonia's path led her to touch many lives, most
notably as a Nursing Assistant, where her kindness and compassionate care left a lasting impact on her patients and colleagues alike. She was the beloved mother of her son, Randy Bailey, and daughter, Tashana Scott -Brae . Her role as a mother was one of her greatest joys and accomplishments. Sonia's love extended to her eight grandchildren, whose lives were enriched by her nurturing presence and the wisdom she imparted. Sonia's loving siblings include two brothers and three sisters. Goodwin Tulloch, Winston Campbell; Spouse Lorraine Campbell, Viviene Brown; Spouse Keith Brown, Joan Walker; Spouse Norman Walker, Sandra Johnson; Spouse Harry Johnson and Mark Campbell.
As well as her extended family of nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Sonia's interests were a reflection of the beauty and tranquility she found in life. Her garden was a testament to her patience and nurturing spirit, blooming with the same vibrancy and color she brought into the world. She found solace in the pages of a good book, and her passion for cooking brought her family together in celebration of both everyday moments and special occasions. Gospel music was the melody of her life, always uplifting her spirit and reinforcing her deep -seated faith.
Those who knew Sonia would describe her as kind, faith-filled, and loving. She approached life with a gentle strength and an unwavering belief in the goodness of others. Her smile was a source of comfort, and her words, always encouraging and filled with wisdom, will resonate with those she leaves behind. As we say goodbye to Sonia V. Campbell, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and grace.
Her legacy is one of love and kindness, which will continue to flourish in the hearts of her family and all who were blessed to know her. Sonia's journey on earth may have come to a close, but the light she shone upon the world will never fade. She will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and always remembered .
