She was a member of Longley Baptist Church for 36 years where she served as the PALS (Pioneers at Longley) President for 10 plus years and a greeter. You can always find her and her family on the fifth pew to the right. Veola work at Dassault Falcon Jet for 10 years and retire in 2009, where she met her forever friends. They enjoyed meeting up and having lunch. Always known as a “Diva” for her stylish outfits and classy demeanor. She was loved and admired.
She entered holy matrimony on May 30, 1970, to Mr. David C. Bell Sr., to this union 4 children were born. Loved dearly by her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She had a special place in her heart for her love David. And shared a special bond with her children and grandchildren. She loved her family and spending time with her sisters. Veola was a sweet, loving, supportive, and giving, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Veola is preceded in death by her father George Burton, Mother Mattie Mae Payne, Stepfather Robert Payne Sr., Bothers Robert (Turkey) Payne Jr., Odis Burton, Arthur Payne, and Izeal (Ike) Payne, sisters Gloria Stevenson, Luereather (Lue) Bolden, (2) grandsons, and (1) great granddaughter.

Wanda was the eldest of nine children. She attended elementary and high school in Chicago. The family would later move to Little Rock, Arkansas where they made Granite Mountain their home. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and became a member of the Greater Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Higgins where she served for many years and was still a devoted member. She loved to sing and found her place in the church choir.
Wanda was a dedicated mother to her one child Errol Harvey. She was a pillar to our family and helped care for her siblings as well as her nieces and nephews throughout the years. One of her favorite things to do was to go fishing and she enjoyed the outdoors.
She is survived by her husband Oscar Gilbert; son Errol Harvey; siblings Larry "Brian" Ganaway, Broderick Ganaway, Tauheed Salaam, and Gisele Holloway; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Lillie graduated from Horace Mann High School, attended Philander Smith College and graduated from Grambling University. Later in life, Lillie graduated from culinary school. She retired from Baptist Health after 40 years of service.
Lillie is preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her son, Ezell; sisters Lissie Marie and Lucille; brothers Thomas, Sr. and  Rev. Chester, Sr. (Donna) and a host of relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held 2:30 pm, Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Greater Mt. Olive Cemetery, 728 Mt. Olive Road, Plumerville, AR. Visitation 3:00 pm -6:00 pm, Friday, April 14, 2023 at the funeral home.

Obituary Preview: Mother Mary “Mae Francis” Harrington was born on February 15, 1939 to the late Ezell and Odessa (Bynum) Acklin. She graduated from Jones High School in 1957.
Mother Harrington accepted Christ at an early age. She enjoyed singing all over the city with singing groups Evangelistic Voices and Echoes of Faith during the early years. Mother Harrington enjoyed watching football, basketball and soap operas.
At the time of her passing, she was a member of Greater Second Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Featherstone.
Mother Harrington took her last walk on this side of eternity on March 14, 2023.
Mother Harrington has been welcomed into PARADISE by her parents and siblings John Wesley Acklin, Albert Lee Acklin, Clermon Acklin, William Acklen, Evelyn Deloris Ransom and Betty Lorraine Acklin.
She leaves to cherish her memory and to continue her legacy to her daughter Sandra Griffin of Charlotte, NC; three sons Ronald Harrington and Eric Peebles, both of Little Rock, AR and Zebulon Harrington of Naperville, IL; one sister Erma Jean Harris of Aurora, IL; one brother James Theodis Acklin of Sherwood, AR; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Tierra Sumpter was a kind person who also labored in the food service industry. She always reported fifteen minutes ahead of the schedule shift, in a clean and neatly pressed attire; presenting a professional tapered appearance. Her disposition was constantly positive with a “let’s get this done” mindset. She was an exceptional teammate, possessing keen intellect, sharp communication skills, and was a tremendous asset to her company.
Tierra Sumpter is preceded in death by her paternal grandmother Shirley Anne Sumpter and maternal grandmother Grace Holder.
She leaves cherished memories with her loving son Tymir Williams and his father Blake Williams of Little Rock, AR; father Roderick W. Sumpter of Austin, Texas; mother Terri T. Reed of Little Rock, AR; two sisters Teresa Reed of Little Rock, AR and Journee S. Fred Allen Shells - December 22, 1943 - June 30, 2022

Obituary Preview: Mr. Fred Allen Shells was born in Burtsell, Arkansas, on December 22, 1943, to the late Frezell Shells and Valree Smith. His sister, Sheila Shells, preceded him in death. Fred divided his childhood between Gurdon, Arkansas and Chicago, Illinois and was raised by his mother and his doting, loving grandmother, Ella Barlow, who also preceded him in death. Fred’s wife of 44 years, Geneva Scott Shells, also preceded him in death.
Fred accepted Christ as a child at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Gurdon, Arkansas. He grew up in the church and would continue to serve in the church for his entire life. Fred served faithfully in several capacities as a Trustee, Finance Committee member, Finance Committee chairman, Deacon and Deacon Board chairman at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church. Fred joined Second Baptist Church in Little Rock prior to relocating to Georgia.
Fred graduated from Crane High School in Chicago, Illinois in 1963. He enrolled in Arkansas Agricultural and Mechanical College (currently the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff) in the fall of 1963, where he studied biology. In the fall of 1964 he met Geneva Scott of Moro, Arkansas, who he married in 1966. After returning to school, he graduated with a B.A. degree in 1970. While at AM & N, Fred formed a close bond with the brothers of the Royal Knights Society, a service organization of which he remained an active member until he fell ill. Fred was also a member of Prince Hall #33 Trinity Lodge in Little Rock, Arkansas and was a Shriner and member of Mohammed Temple #34.
Fred served as the first, black state-certified Fisheries Biologist for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. As a freshwater fish specialist, Fred was responsible for maintaining public and private lakes, rivers and streams. Central Arkansas was the last district he maintained until his retirement in 1998 after 25 years of service.
Fred pursued a second career in real estate and was passionate about educating first-time home buyers and promoting home ownership in the black community. After earning his real estate license, he worked as an agent with the Filmore Thomas Agency until opening his own office, F&G Realty Company, in 1980. He eventually became a real estate broker, earned his residential appraisal license and was an active member and officer of the Arkansas Association of Realtist, the National Association of Real Estate Brokers and the Arkansas Realtors Association.
Fred was a huge fan of boxing, football and basketball. He immensely enjoyed watching the Pine Bluff Golden Lions and Arkansas Razorback football teams. He loved duck and quail hunting and could be found hunting whenever time permitted. Though he was a reserved man, he told the best stories and had a witty, sharp sense of humor.
Fred peacefully departed this life on Thursday, June 30, 2022, in Lawrenceville, Georgia, surrounded by the love of his family and friends.
Fred’s memory and life lessons will be cherished by his son, Byron Scott Shells (Alicea) and daughter, Erica Shells Mayes. He also leaves behind four granddaughters, Kamille Mayes, Alexandria Shells, Yazmeen Mayes and Payton Shells. Fred is also survived by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and one brother-in-law, Rev. Ollie B. Scott (Florence).
A celebration of his life will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, 1701 State Street in Little Rock, AR. Visitation will be held 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm, Friday, July 8, 2022 at the funeral home. Interment Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander, Arkansas.

Pleasant graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1978. Soon after graduation, he met and married the love of his life - Shirley Howard Pleasant. To this union, two beautiful children were born - Rogerick and Naporsha. He was a loving and proud husband and father.
Pleasant was an entrepreneur who employed many people throughout Arkansas, while providing the wants and needs of his family. He loved cooking and spending time with those important to him.
Pleasant was proceeded in death by his mother - Hannah Mae Pleasant, father - Edmond Pleasant and brother - Emerson Pleasant. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife - Shirley Pleasant of Maumelle, Arkansas; son - Rogerick Pleasant of Maumelle, Arkansas; daughter - Naporsha Pleasant Valentine (Justin) of Atlanta, Georgia; Grandchildren - Justice, Nylah and Nolan Valentine of Atlanta, Georgia; Stepmother - Earma Pleasant of Little Rock, Arkansas; sisters - Lynn Pleasant of Kansas City, Missouri and Lisa Williams of Dallas, Texas; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
