He learned the value of hard farm work as a child. While in grade school, he began his love of reading, which continued throughout his life. He graduated from Mounds Park High School and entered military service with the US Marines from 1954-1957. He married Carroll Sellers in 1957 and they had four children. After his military service, Donald attended and was proud to graduate from the University of Minnesota, with a degree in Urban Studies. He went on to a long career with General Motors and after retirement, acted as a consultant for a new inventory project for American Axle. In 1979, he married Diane Aldrich and together they raised Diane’s children. Donald was a man of humor and wit, and used this part of his personality to become a Shriner clown known as “Dr. Chuckles.” He was known to be a beloved Green Bay Packers as well as a Buffalo Bills fan. Donald was a giving person who understood what it meant to be a good neighbor. The family would like to gratefully extend a special thanks and appreciation to Don’s longtime neighbor, Jackie Blachowski, as well as the staff of the Brothers of Mercy Health Center. Beloved husband of the late Diane L.
