Francis H. Boggs - June 18, 1937 - October 27, 2023

Departed: 10/27/2023 (Berea)
Obituary Preview: Francis H. Boggs, 86, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and lover of practical pranks passed away peacefully at his home on October 27, 2023, after a brief illness. Francis, fondly known as Frank, was born to Robert and May Boggs on June 18, 1937, in Jackson County, Ky. In the first grade, he was voted Prince of Jackson County which has remained one of his most cherished titles. During college he worked for his father at the B&B Food Market and went on to graduate from Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in Business Administration. IBM became the fortunate employer of Francis where he worked in the Human Resource Department and retired after 25 years.
Along with being affiliated with the Jaycee's, Francis also volunteered as a Boy Scout Leader of troop 74 in Berea, Ky. He was a member of the First Christian Church where he previously served as a Deacon and was a charter member of the 101 Club that supported University of Kentucky Athletics.
His love for his family came first but a close second was his love of golf, meeting his friends at Moore's grocery and watching UK basketball games. Frank played on the 1955 state tournament basketball team while attending Berea High School which he felt gave him the knowledge to help coach the UK wildcats from his recliner. Frank was an avid UK basketball fan who rejoiced when they won and took it personal when they lost... yelling at the television and giving players advice on how to "shoot, pass and dribble". A few recliner's had to be replaced from "over use" during games. Just like UK's National championships he will be missed.
Francis is survived by his childhood sweetheart and devoted wife of 66 years, Jennie Ballard Boggs and four children who loved him dearly, Bryan (Diane) Boggs of Irmo, SC, Belinda (David) Bilby, David (Stacy) Boggs and Becki (Bam) Renzenbrink all residing in Berea, Ky. He was a cherished grandfather to eleven. grandchildren, Wes (Whitney) Boggs, Jenni (Daniel) Prevett, Casey (Ben) Colbert, Tara Bilby, Shelby (Ryan) Centers, Jared Boggs, Shannon (Kevin) Short, Tonya Booth, Trey Boggs, and 12 great grandchildren.
Frank was preceded in death by two grandsons, Jordon Bilby and Logan Boggs. Predeceased by his parents, sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Doug Layne, he is survived by one brother, Benny (Glenda) Boggs.
His family will hold a graveside service at 10:30 am, Friday, November 3, 2023, at Richmond Cemetery, in Richmond, Ky.
