He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever."

Norma Jo Barnhart - September 14, 1922 - April 13, 2022

Departed: 04/13/2022 (Nacogdoches)
Obituary Preview: Funeral service for Norma Jo Barnhart, 99, of Nacogdoches, will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at Laird Funeral Home. Burial will follow at McKnight Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at the funeral Home.
Norma Jo Watson Barnhart was born as the fifth of eight children to RJ and Lizzie Watson in Mt. Enterprise, TX, where she lived until 1940. Norma enjoyed sports and participated in competitive sports for girls throughout her school career. After school, if the weather and chores allowed, she loved to go outside to bounce a ball against the chimney wall for hours. In 1939, she started college at SFA and earned a degree in Physical Education in three years. Because of the war, she taught marching to younger students at SFA before she graduated.
Norma officially began her career in Mt. Pleasant, TX, for two years. She remembered teaching tumbling to elementary students. While in Mt. Pleasant, a married teacher (a rarity for the time!) advised Norma to travel while she was young and single. Norma took her advice, and after two years in Mt. Pleasant, she switched districts to Amarillo, where she taught for one year. She was offered a job in Brownsville teaching PE and remained there for one semester because Gene proposed, and they married and moved to Pasadena, TX. Norma Jo worked for a time in the office at Maxwell House and soon started a Masters degree in Education. The next year, she taught and was the pep squad sponsor in La Porte ISD, after which she began teaching in Pasadena where she finished her career of more than 30 years in education in 1977.
Over the next nineteen years, while battling health problems, Norma purchased the house next door for rental income. Although she had taught and enjoyed reading, her favorite pastime was crossword puzzles, something at which she was very skilled. She also enjoyed visiting with and babysitting her grandson Aaron. Furthermore, she and Gene had a “vacation” home in Mt. Enterprise which kept both of them busy. After Gene retired, they moved to Nacogdoches in 1996 and celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary in September of 2021 before Gene passed away in October 2021.
While in Pasadena, Norma was one of the first members of Sunset United Methodist Church. After moving to Nacogdoches, both Norma and Gene joined the First United Methodist Church. Although she was unable to attend church for many years, she was a faithful television follower of the Tyler United Methodist Church and Dr. Charles Stanley.
Norma Jo is survived by her daughter Rebecca Kemble (Roy III), grandson Aaron Manahan (Crystal), step-grandson Roy Kemble IV, step-granddaughter Melissa Starr (Ed), great-granddaughter Melody Manahan, grand-granddaughter Willow Manahan, great-step-grandson Jacob White, and great-step-grandson Isaac Starr. She is also survived by her younger sisters Louneita Grubbs and Elizabeth Gramling (Ozzie).
She was preceded in death by her parents RJ and Lizzie (Palmer) Watson and siblings Margie Flanagan, Reagan Watson, Gordon Watson, Susie Loe, and Billie Wilson.
Serving as pallbearers are Aaron Manahan, Roy Kemble III, Jim Hollan, Brad Pertl, Dennis Schafstall, and Jeff Barnhart. Honorary pallbearer is Ozzie Gramling.

Departed: 03/30/2022 (Nacogdoches)
Obituary Preview: Bettie Louise Stinson McDuffie was born on March 20, 1926, in Douglass, Texas. She was 96 years old when she was called to be with Jesus on March 30, 2021. Her last earthly breath was taken in Nacogdoches, Texas with her son by her side.
Bettie (also known as Louise) was the daughter of William Samuel Stinson and Maggie Edith Stinson. Her brothers were Willie Joe Stinson and Vernon Stinson. She was married to the love of her life, Ralph Lamar McDuffie, for 61 years until his passing in 2006.
She resided in Nacogdoches her whole life and never lived more than 15 miles of where she was born. Bettie was a graduate of Douglass High School and Massey Business College. She worked and retired from the Stone Fort National Bank.
Bettie was a member of the Greatest Generation having grown up during the Great Depression and World War II. She loved to share stories of those days. Of waking before daylight, her father hooking Ned, the family mule, to a wagon and driving the wagon to Nacogdoches to sell produce grown on the farm. They would not return until well after dark.
She was a lifelong member of Perritte Memorial Methodist Church. She loved the Lord. She had a love of country music that was shared with her husband. Bettie was a Democrat and campaigned in many local and national elections.
She had a great sense of humor that was evident up until her passing. She loved animals having many over her lifetime and would share stories about each of them. Her dachshund, Molly, was a constant by her side, whether watching tv from her recliner or exploring the backyard.
Bettie was a caregiver. She often said that she should have been a nurse like her mother. She cared for her husband 24/7 for six years after a series of ministrokes. She never complained about being in service to others or helping others in times of need.
Above all, she loved her family, her husband, son, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Bettie will always be remembered as Momma and Granny. Mothers and Grandmothers are special in everyone’s life, but we feel especially blessed to have had her as ours.
She is predeceased by her husband, Ralph McDuffie, grandson, Ryan McDuffie, her parents and brothers, Joe and Vernon Stinson.

She was blessed with Great Grandchildren, Karol McDuffie, Elizabeth McDuffie, Michael and Camron Thacker. She is also survived by nephews and nieces, and an extended family of children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
We know that though we mourn her passing, as it is God’s promise, we will see her again. Her favorite Bible verse is 1 Corinthians 13:4-13:
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails…And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But, the greatest of these is love.”

Mike Miguez - December 20, 1944 - March 30, 2022

Departed: 03/30/2022 (Nacogdoches)
Obituary Preview: A Celebration of Life for Mike will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Southern Bliss, 5419 Hwy 59 S, Nacogdoches, TX 75964.
Mr. Miguez passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, in Nacogdoches.  He was born in Hanford, Washington on December 20, 1944, the son Harold and Doris Elaine Braden Miguez.
Mike spent most of his childhood in the Beaumont area where he played football before graduating from South Park High School.  He also attended Lamar Technical in Beaumont.  Mike was raised to be an honest and responsible man, and he became just that.  He joined the United States Army and based at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas.  In 1968, his life changed substantially.  He married his sweetheart and best friend, Joy.  He was smitten and knew their lives would be great.  They were blessed with their two children, Carrie and Scott and with the arrival of grandchildren, Mike felt as if his life was complete.  He and Joy enjoyed many things together including traveling.  They especially found great joy in finding the little local owned restaurant to sit down to a good meal.  It could not be said that Mike had an idle hand.  He was always busy doing something.  He retired from Southwestern Bell/AT&T but that did not keep him from dedicating his time to other things he loved.  He spent many days with the CERT Team, Ham Radio Club and Skywarn.  He also volunteered with the Nacogdoches Fire Department as well as using his special skills as an EMT. He also drove a bus for Woden ISD and served with their maintenance department.   Mike was a simple, caring, dedicated man.  He loved his family fiercely and without boundaries.  He never met a stranger, made friends everywhere he went and never forgot when someone was kind to him.  Mike was a “giver” and never missed a chance to help someone in need.  He took pride in being a person to turn to when someone needed anything.  However, his greatest passion was his family.  He was proud of his children and found sunshine in the eyes of his grandchildren.  He was always happiest when surrounded by those closest to him and the memories they shared will forever live on in their hearts and minds.
Mike is survived by his precious wife, Joy; children, Scott Miguez and wife, Kristy and Carrie Garza and Jason; grandchildren, Dylan Miguez and Taylor Garza and wife, Brylee; great granddaughter, Lindsey Garza; nieces, Monica, Tara, Nicole, Sarah, Emily and Alex.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Doris Miguez and sister, Peggy Jo Hull.

Visitation will be held at Laird’s Funeral Home on Friday evening, April 1, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.  Ms. Fischer passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on March 28, 2022.
Linda was born on February 22, 1947, in Nacogdoches, Texas, to Benjamin Clinton (B.C.) Whitton and Georgia Lewis Whitehead Whitton. After her mother’s untimely death when she was only 18 months old, Linda, her sister, and brother were reared by maternal aunts, Gladys and Hazel Whitehead, who predeceased her.
Linda graduated from Nacogdoches High School in 1965 and continued her education at Stephen F. Austin University where she earned B.S. and M.Ed. degrees. While attending SFA, her outgoing personality made lifelong friendships and gave her honored positions in the Chi Omega sorority.
A fifth generation Texan and native of Nacogdoches where she resided for 52 years, Linda moved to Houston, Texas in 1999.  She continued her teaching career in Spring Branch ISD, where she was loved and admired by colleagues, students and their families. Her life in Houston was made richer by living closer to her sister, brother and their families, and by reconnecting with many close friends from her earlier days spent at Camp Mystic. After teaching for 20 years at Carpenter Elementary in Nacogdoches and in Houston, she retired in 2004 from Rummel Creek Elementary, Houston, which completed a dedicated 35-year teaching career. As a master teacher, she made a difference in the lives of her students. Linda enjoyed traveling with friends to many states in the US, Hawaii and Alaska, Europe, and the Holy Land.
Growing up and for the remainder of her life, Linda was fun, popular, witty, and athletic. She was always the “life of the party,” entertaining everyone around her. She played sports with natural talent and skill. Confident, independent and authentic, she was a straight shooter and never beat around the bush, yet she embodied an enviable sense of humor, grace, and humility. She always enjoyed a little mischief, and there is often repeated family lore about her many escapades. Her joyful disposition, contagious laugh, and beautiful smile never wavered even as her health declined. A devoted and committed Christian from early childhood, Linda remained steadfast in her faith and lived out Christ’s love for others.
In addition to her parents and beloved aunts, she is predeceased by her only brother, David Whitton, daughter-in-law, Marie Brueggemann Fischer and other close relatives. Eva met her late husband, James Leigh, while she was working at a restaurant in Coldwater. They fell in love swiftly and were married on August 13, 1951, spending 48 years raising children and creating everlasting memories. She taught Bluebird Girls (a branch of Girl Scouts) for some time and was an avid Sunday School attendee.

If Eva knew you, she loved you wholeheartedly and with all that she was. Spending time in the company of her friends and family were among the things she most adored. She also enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with friends, drinking coffee, and loving on animals of all kinds. and when she had time, her favorite hobbies included sewing and quilting, as well as arts and crafts of any kind.

Mary "Diane" Stanley - May 20, 1968 - March 27, 2022

Departed: 03/27/2022 (Nacogdoches)
Obituary Preview: Funeral services for Diane Stanley, 53, of Nacogdoches, will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Laird Funeral Home with Bro. Sonny Scarbrough and Bro. John Collins officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at Laird Funeral Home.
Mary “Diane” Stanley left this world and found complete healing after a fierce fight against cancer on March 27, 2022, in Nacogdoches.
She was born on May 20, 1968, in San Augustine, Texas. Diane grew up in a loving home with parents that not only loved her but celebrated and enjoyed her to the fullest! When she was younger, Diane loved going to Dog Patch Amusement Park.  Her father would go on each of the rides with her over and over again & every time Diane looked back her mother was there cheering them on with a smile and enthusiastic wave. Over the years Diane and her mother shared in countless girl’s day outs shopping together. Diane’s admiration towards her mother & father grew greater each year of her life. Their guidance and love for her helped her in leading and loving others.
After high school, Diane graduated Panola College and was a cosmetologist for 33 years. When Diane cut her client’s hair she not only gave them the service of self-care but provided a joyful gathering place for them to share their lives. Diane’s unfailing faith in God was her greatest gift to others. Her most cherished Bible verse came from the book of 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 “4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails.”
Everybody that knew Diane knew that she loved faithfully with the tenderness of a mother. She dedicated her life to loving others. Diane was patient. Diane was kind. Diane was humble, yet wholly rich in the life she was given. Diane was selfless, calm, and extended forgiveness without doubt or reservations. Diane found joy in nurturing and supporting others, trusting that she would instill hope and grace in the world. Diane persevered and fought fiercely against cancer— and ultimately found peace and wholeness in her Heavenly healing. Diane’s love never failed because God’s love never fails.
Diane’s most profound form of love was the inspiring life she and her husband, Tommy, built together. Her vulnerable and undeniable love for Tommy and the abundant love he showed her in return strengthened her faith and understanding of how we are all meant to love one another. Tommy and Diane first celebrated the unity of marriage on September 30, 2000, at Bethel Baptist Church with a small ceremony. In September of 2005 they renewed their vows surrounded by family overflowing with five years of eagerness to celebrate their love for one another!  With each other’s support and dedication, they spent 21 years building a life together. There was no place that felt safer and more peaceful than their home tucked behind the winding pine trees of a Nacogdoches County. A home that throughout the years welcomed many animals, children of all ages, new friends and old friends, and their ever-growing family. A home that welcomed with love and laughter. Ultimately, Diane was Tommy’s greatest listener. She would listen to his hopes and dreams, listen on his hardest days, and was his most eager listener when he played music. If you were at one of Nickeldraft’s shows you know Tommy never failed to give a special shout out to his “honey bunch” before playing “Some Kind of Wonderful.” Just an hour before Diane found complete healing Tommy sang their song softly in her ear one last time.
In loving Tommy, Diane was not only given the gift of marriage, but the journey of motherhood. Motherhood showed her the impact her life and testimony could give to future generations. She dedicated two decades to creating a nurturing and safe space, hours of meaningful conversations & family time, and supporting the growth of the daughter God sent her to love. Brittany carries with her countless memories of warm homemade biscuits, late night phone calls, shopping trips & fashion shows, and unceasing support in all of her educational & extracurricular endeavors.
In recent years Diane was blessed to watch Brittany become a mother to Kannon, Paisley Diane, Peyton, and Kenlei and gained her most affectionate title—Memaw! She treasured every moment from welcoming her grandchildren into the world, to making homemade pizza, teaching them to garden, and hosting the most meaningful sleepovers.
Diane’s family finds comfort in knowing she has settled at the golden gates and found a table with bottomless chips & salsa picosa while she waits on reunification with each of her loved ones.
Diane is survived by her husband, Tommy Stanley, Jr.; daughter, Brittany Green; father, Kenneth (Pete) Mills; mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Mills; mother-in-law, Joyce Stanley; brothers-in-law, James Stanley and wife, Peggy and Johnny Stanley; grandchildren, Kannon Wayne Green, Paisley Green, Peyton Brylee Green, and Kenlei Ann Denny; and many other family members and friends.
Diane is preceded in death by her grandparents, Grady Mills and wife, Jannie and Francis Vaco; uncle and aunt, James Perry and wife, Bonnie; father-in-law, Tommy Stanley, Sr.; and great-aunt, Norma Jernnigan.

Eula Faye Miley - May 04, 1940 - March 25, 2022

Departed: 03/25/2022 (Nacogdoches)
Obituary Preview: Funeral Services for Eula Miley, 81, of Nacogdoches will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Cemetery in the Moral Community with Bro. Brad Hudson officiating.
Mrs. Eula Miley passed away on March 25, 2022, in Nacogdoches. She was born on May 4, 1940, in Winnfield, Louisiana.
Eula was born and reared in rural Winnfield, Louisiana. She loved exploring the outdoors and working with her hands. She was a daddy’s girl at heart and would do her best to be next to him whether he was planting the season’s crop or traveling through town. It was during this time in her life that she found a love for tending gardens. When she moved out on her own and bought her own land, she covered every acre in flowers and vegetables. The only thing she loved more than being outside, was cooking the old-fashioned way. Growing up, her mother taught her how to cook the southern way and no dish went without a proper amount of seasoning. All through the rest of Eula’s life, she would reminisce about her childhood and reflect on all the wonderful skills her parents taught her.
From Eula’s plentiful gardens, came plentiful rewards. Everything that Eula grew, she either ate or canned. Everything that she cooked and baked was made from scratch. Nothing went to waste around her. If she couldn’t store it, or her pantry got full, she’d make food to feed anyone and everyone. She was known to even invite strangers to Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, and there was still plenty to eat. Everyone that knew Eula, knew that she’d never let you go hungry, and she’d never let you eat before saying a blessing. Being served Eula’s cooking meant that you got the best. Not only was Eula good at cooking but cleaning too. She knew every trick in the book to clean even the hardest of stains. After a gathering, she made sure her house was tidy, and that everything was put back in its proper place. Eula always knew where things were, and if she didn’t then there was a major problem. Eula wasn’t afraid to speak her mind and overall, enjoyed to be independent. In the end, she did everything that she loved until she was no longer able to.
Eula is survived by her daughters, Cindy Patterson and Rebecca Griswold and husband, Shawn; son, Robbie Hyde; grandchildren, Angela Ross and husband, Davis, Kenneth Hudson and wife, Joni, Brad Hudson and wife, Kimberly, William Hyde, Kaylee Fleuret, Kaden Fleuret, and Kolten Fleuret; great-grandchildren, Carl Smith, Shelby Ross, Elliott Hudson, Colt Hudson, Cade Hudson, and Codie Hudson; niece, Donna Green and husband, Terry and son Justin Reed.
Eula is preceded in death by her parents Ruben Lee Bonnett, and Bertie Bee Bonnet (Franks); son, Terry Hyde; and sister, Betty Hyde.

Cotton George - March 31, 1944 - March 14, 2022

Obituary Preview: Funeral services for Cotton George, 77, of Nacogdoches, Texas will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at Impact Cowboy Church with Bro. Stan King officiating.  Interment will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Laird Funeral Home.
Hulen "Cotton" George, 77 of Martinsville, Texas, passed away on March 14, 2022 in the comfort of his home.  Cotton was born March 31, 1944  in Lufkin, Texas to Hulen and Rachel George who preceded him in death.  Cotton is also preceded in death by brother Don George, brother John Dave George and sister Linda Ray George.  He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Suzanne George, son  and daughter in law, Brady and Kirsten George, one sister and her husband, Samantha and  Mike Fuller, nephews John (Bub) George, Justin George, Mike Fuller, and Clay Fuller, and one niece Jennifer Guillory.
Cotton was a genuine cowboy through and through.  He hauled many miles down the road with George Anderson, Mike Rawson, Harold York, Mike Bradbury just to name a few, as they all loved rodeo. As recent as Christmas, 2021, George and Cotton were still telling tales about their adventures while rodeoing and the ones that could really buck- great bucking horses of that time like Teachers Pet, Golddust, Stormy Weather, and Sipping Velvet.
Riding a good cutting horse was a passion of Cotton's.  He loved going to a cutting and showing his horse, Shelia.  Spending endless hours watching the other horses work, waiting on his class so he could ride in. This was a great pleasure to him, especially if he brought home a check.
Cotton taught school at Martinsville ISD.  When Cotton first started at Martinsville there were only 10 grades, so he taught history and started the basketball program for high school and junior high.  Even though Martinsville only had 2 grades in High School, his teams still played with the 4 grade schools and won many games and had several students win basketball honors.  Mrs. Bonnie Byars, Mrs. Hilda Barfield, and Cotton, would drive the players in their own vehicles to the games and drive them home at night.  When Martinsville went to a 12 grade school, Cotton began the Agriculture department.  He developed a very competitive program in Ag. Mechanics, livestock showing, and parliamentary procedure.  Several students over the years advanced to state level in agriculture competition.
Cotton spent much of his life with kids, not only in the classroom, but also in the rodeo arena.  As Brady grew, he picked up the rodeo bug so "on the road again" but this time with his son.  There were many long drives and sleepless nights, but Cotton never complained.  It was during this time that Cotton began his tenure with Texas High School Rodeo and later National High School Rodeo.  Cotton served as a Region V director for several years before stepping up to THSRA President 2002/2003.  Cotton became National Director for Texas in 2003/2004, served as President of the NHSRA in 2012/2013, and remained National Director until his retirement in August, 2020. During his 18 year tenure, the Texas team won 11 National championships, with the last 6 years being consecutive wins.  Texas is the first team to ever accomplish winning more than 5 years in a row.
Cotton loved his friends and his family. He was a mentor and a teacher, but most of all --he will forever be a Rodeo Cowboy.

Departed: 03/12/2022 (Nacogdoches)
Obituary Preview: Funeral services for Amy Arriola, 34, of Bellaire, will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 18, 2022, at Laird Funeral Home with Pastor Irene Franco and Pastor Donna Crowel officiating. Interment will follow at Arriola-Cooke Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Friday, March 18, 2022, at Laird Funeral Home.
Amity Leigh Arriola was born on March 18, 1987 in Lufkin, Texas.  As a youngster, she spent many hours with her siblings.  They laughed and played and when they grew up, they held onto the special bond they shared.  She loved each of them dearly.  Amy enjoyed sports and was especially good at softball and was an amazing pitcher but no matter what the sport, she succeeded in being great at it.  She proudly accepted that she got her athletic ability and drive to succeed in sports from her Dad.  Through the years, Amy developed a love of art.  It didn’t matter if it was in the form of music, writing or working outside with her beautiful flowers and plants in the gardens.  She had an eye for detail and knew what looked good together.  She used this special ability in most anything she done.  She would redecorate often, which led to much laughter as well as many jokes about her being a tad bit OCD.  She also made her space her own without regard to where she was.  Her most recent passions included a love of cooking.  Her casseroles were the best, but she was a superb chef with any entrée.  When life dealt her hardships or struggles, Amy always met them with great confidence and super ability to make it through it all.  The compassion she had for others led her into ministry and she loved the time she spent with her mom as they volunteered at Womens Encounters.  She was a great friend to many and was loved deeply by her family.  Her contagious smile and infectious laugh lit up any room she walked in and her joy radiated to those around her.  Amy’s family will hold onto the wonderful memories that her short 34 years have left them and remember her for the beautiful, kind, caring and compassionate soul she was.  Until we see you again Amy, we love you.
Amy is survived by her mom, Melanie Crowel and husband, Ron of Bellaire; brother, Terry Arriola of Bellaire; sisters, Camile Franks and husband, Damon of Grandbury and Jennifer Simonton and husband, Ty of Mineral Wells; grandmother, Cora Byars of Bellaire; God-parents, Edward and Rose Dill; fiancé Jessie Beaumont and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Amy is preceded in death by her father, Gregory Dean Arriola; grandparents, Maurine and Johnny Ellis and Roy Langford and her uncle, Tommy Arriola. Memorial donations may be made in Amy’s honor to Recovery Chick at recoverychick.com
Serving as pallbearers will be Terry Arriola, Curtis Butler, Dale Langford, Brett Arriola, Lucas Collier, and Phillip Grimes. Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Butler, Edward Dill, Ron Crowel, Jessie Beaumont, and Eric Langford.

Glenn Ramsey - January 12, 1937 - March 11, 2022

Departed: 03/11/2022 (Nacogdoches)
Obituary Preview: Glenn Dale Ramsey, 85, of Magnolia, passed away on March 11, 2022 in the comfort of his home. Glenn was born January 12, 1937 in Elbert, Texas to Jack and Myra Ramsey who preceded him in death.
There will a Celebration of Life on March 17, 2022, at 6:00pm at Plantersville Baptist Church, 11555 Old Schoolhouse Rd, Plantersville, TX 77363.  The graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 11:00am at Elm Grove Cemetery, 100 County Road 345, Nacogdoches, TX 75961.  Brother Jack Redfearn, Jr. will be officiating at both.
Glenn had a long career with Halliburton and retired after 35 years.  During that time with Halliburton, he was able to live and travel to many countries, Venezuela, England (where he met Susan), and Singapore (where Stacey and Kirsten were born). He then settled in Houston where he retired and was able to focus on his passion of roping which he enjoyed doing up until the age of 84.
Rodeo was always his passion.  In his youth, he would sneak out and ride bulls against his parent’s wishes and just take the punishment later because it was worth it for him to live out his dream. He roped calves and later in life, learned to team rope.  His roping though was soon to be put on hold when his kids learned to ride because he had two kids stealing his horses!  When Stacey started to rodeo, she took his good horse, Chaser from him. Then when Kirsten was in college, she took his favorite horse, Sausage.  Glenn didn’t mind, he did everything he could to provide the best life possible for his family.
Glenn loved to help kids whether it was at a rodeo, pushing calves, or teaching them how to rope at the house.  He enjoyed being on the road traveling to rodeos all over with his girls and being able to experience rodeo life with his extended rodeo family.  He was always active in the rodeo associations the girls belonged to and worked hard to make the experience the best they could have.
After the girls grew up, Glenn was finally able to focus on his roping.  He enjoyed team roping with his friends and going to the Senior Team Roping Finals in Abilene for years.  As long as Glenn could be on a horse and have a rope in his hand, he was happy.
Glenn married his wife, Susan, on April 4, 1971 and they just celebrated their 50th anniversary last year.
Glenn is survived by his loving wife, Susan, his two sisters, Patricia and Janice, and one brother, Mike.  Glenn has four children, Synde and son-in-law Bill, Greg and daughter-in-law Janie, Stacey and son-in-law James, Kirsten and son-in-law Brady, along with five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
