Excited at taking his first steps into adulthood with a promising job and a bright future. When he said goodbye to us, he was vibrant, in good health and excited for the new life that the Lord blessed him with.As a child, Ethan was fascinated by the simplicity and building complexity of Lego®. This dualism focused him through the years to develop a curiosity into the polymers that Legos were made from. Chemical engineering and material construction soon became a passion in high school and ultimately directed his path to materials science.Ethan recently graduated from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Materials Science and Engineering. He was growing his awareness of the impact of materials on the environment and was set firm to research and engineer solutions that would benefit the world around him. He was blessed to accept a professional job in his major field of study at the time of his passing. (Roth) Egan. On September 18, 1935, she married Roy E. Hanthorn. He preceded her in death on December 13, 1954. Lorraine worked for 20 years as a Cook at the Purdue Residence Halls until her retirement in October 1984.She was a lifelong member of St. Ann Catholic Church and Shrine. She attended St. Ann’s Grade School and St. Francis High School. She devoutly lived her faith in Jesus and led by example, always with unconditional love. She had a great devotion to Mary the mother of Jesus who inspired her as she lovingly raised her 8 children. She prayed the rosary daily.She was a volunteer at St. Ann’s Soup Kitchen for many years. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, cooking for family, trips to Turkey Run State Park, Family gatherings, and everything Irish. She enjoyed watching old movies and shows and her flower gardens.She is survived by her children, Roy C. Hanthorn of Lafayette, Daniel (Linda) Hanthorn of Shadeland, Cathy (Steve) Daniel of Lafayette, and Patsy (Alan) Greenburg of Indianapolis; 26 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren.To all who knew and loved her, she was “Better than the Best”.Along with her husband, Roy, and her parents, Joseph and Emma Egan, she was preceded in death by her children, Paul Hanthorn, Dorothy Schultz, Mary Ann Morrison, and Barbara Buckles, daughter in law Jeanne Hanthorn; 2 brothers, James and Joseph Egan; granddaughter, Christine Chupp; and grandson Brett Hanthorn.Memorial contributions in Lorraine's name may be given to St. Ann Soup Kitchen at 612 Wabash Avenue, Lafayette, IN 47905.The family would like to thank the staff of Franciscan St. Elizabeth Hospital and Franciscan Hospice for their compassionate care.Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Monday, June 13, 2022, at Soller-Baker, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909. He was born March 8, 1946, in Evansville, IN, the second son of Carlisle and Dorothy Schrader. He graduated from Purdue in 1972 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and supported Purdue as a loyal alumnus, donor, and sports fan.
Bill was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He served honorably in the Marines as a radio operator, achieving the rank of Lance Corporal, and was awarded for his marksmanship.
He started part time at Fairfield Manufacturing in December of 1970. In 1973 he was named manager of test development, torque-hub. He was highly recognized in his field, traveling to China, Europe, South America, and Japan. He retired in October 2015. He enjoyed golfing and cycling and was an avid and formidable tennis player even up until the last few months. Known for his sage advice, intelligence and sense of humor, Bill was loved and respected by many and will be greatly missed.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother, Stephen Schrader and wife Jean of Oxford, AL; his nephews Jonathan Schrader (Deidre), Schroon Lake, NY, and Marcus Schrader (Jennifer), New Palestine, IN; and his niece Ann Janel McClure (Patrick), Brazil; his step-children Dennis Carroll, Indianapolis, IN, Kim Mennen, Lafayette, IN, Chery Skibinski, West Lafayette, IN, Jonathan Carroll, Los Angeles, CA; his close friend Sally Becker; and many step grandchildren and great nephews and nieces. She was the families third born child, following her brother Verne (deceased), sister Jayne (deceased) and leading the way for sister Suzanne (deceased) and baby sister Charlotte (Dinky) who survives her In Spokane, Washington.Growing up, Alice was an avid reader and could recite pages of The White Cliffs by Alice Duer Miller. After graduation from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1944, she married William Richard Schurman (deceased)on October 30, 1943. Bill and Alice were blessed with five beautiful children, William R. Schurman II (deceased), Stacy Jayne (Muinzer, husband Mike (deceased), Suzanne (Mattern, husband Jim), Mary Alice (Christopher, husband Gary) and Elizabeth (Libby Rottler, deceased). Before her death, Alice was again gifted with 15 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and 3 great, great grandchildren.Alice was an active and compassionate volunteer of the Pink Ladies at Home Hospital and served on the board for the Tippecanoe County Welfare Department. She took up cross stitching and made dozens of pieces of art that still adorn our walls. She was known as “Mother Schurman” at the Lafayette Country Club for all her work as a judge or timer for the swim team. She continued her love of reading until she discovered GOLF. Alice became an avid golfer and excelled in the sport. As a member of LCC, she played on both the 9 hole and 18 hole womens leagues. She was a proud member of OLGA, and even played in several pro/amateur tournaments.At age 64, after the death of her husband, Alice, a lifelong resident of Lafayette, packed up her life and moved to Vero Beach, Florida. After several years she relocated to Satellite Beach, Florida to be closer to her son. Her ocean front condo made it a great place for kids and grandkids to travel to for vacations and Spring Break. Many treasured memories were made during that time period. And many epic tales were written.Alice met every adventure with an open mind and adapted easily to new places and situations.She will be sorely missed.A private family service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Doug had an extensive career in the automotive industry, working for over 30 years at dealerships including Coral Ford, Prestige Autos, and Sadler & Morrison, until eventually becoming a partner and forming Sadler & Urschel Auto Inc. Doug’s final, and most enjoyable position, was with Defouw Chevrolet.Doug never met a stranger, and his love for working with people superseded his love for the automotive industry. Upon his retirement he remained friends with many of his clients and would frequently visit with his Defouw family. In his retirement he continued to enjoy his love of motorcycles, Mecum auctions, and most of all his recent purchase of a brand new 2022 Corvette.Doug is survived by his former wife Melissa “Missy” Burgess Urschel with whom he shares his pride and joy, his daughter Georgia Adelle Urschel (fiancé Zachary Kaufman) of Fisher, IN. Although they were not together, Doug was always included in all family functions and remained a central part of their family. He is also survived by his brother Lewis Steven Urschel (wife Lori), sister Gayle, and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of a funeral, we will be having a celebration of life at one of his favorite restaurants at a later date soon to be determined. Memorial contributions can be made to the Tippecanoe County Humane Society in honor of his beloved cat Nala.
