Obituary Preview: Arthur L. Rowe, 92, of Vernon, beloved husband of over 57 years to the late Ann Marie (Cassidy) Rowe (2013), passed away peacefully on Monday, March 29, 2021. Arthur was born in Louisville, Kentucky on February 3, 1929, the son of the late Louis and Sarah (Miller) Rogowsky. He grew up and lived in Louisville and East Orange NJ before moving to Vernon over 59 years ago. Arthur proudly served his country in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War. He loved his family and his country. Prior to his retirement in 1996, Arthur was a loss control engineer with Crum and Forster for 35 years. Arthur and Ann enjoyed their annual trip vacationing on Cape Cod, as well as going to the racetrack in Saratoga Springs, NY, and visiting their family in San Diego. Arthur was very active in community affairs, he was chairman of the Vernon/Rockville Bicentennial parade, a Town of Vernon Election Poll Moderator, on the committee for the consolidation of the Vernon/Rockville Fire District, and a member & chairman of the Vernon Planning & Zoning Committee. He also participated in the annual Rockville Hospital Follies Fundraiser and was a girls softball coach for several years. Arthur was also an avid golfer. He is survived by his daughters, Sharon Wallbillich and her husband David of Vernon, Sheila Gerber and her husband Ron of Ellington, and Lisa Vontsolos and her husband Alexi of San Diego, CA; four grandchildren, Leah Schneider and her husband Sam of Ellington, Emily and Evan Gerber of Ellington, and Lucas Vontsolos of San Diego, CA, and a great grandson, Jack Schneider of Ellington. He was also predeceased by his brother, David Rowe. His family will receive friends for a calling hour on Saturday, April 3, 2021 from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by a funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon.
