Rachael D. Brandenburg - January 29, 1947 - April 25, 2024

Obituary Preview: Rachael “Chickie” Dorothy Brandenburg, age 77, of Burnett, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at the Charleston House in Beaver Dam.
Funeral services for Rachael will take place on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Juneau with Rev. David Brandt officiating. A visitation for Rachael will be held at church on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service at St. John’s Cemetery Brown Corner.
Rachael was born the daughter of Theophil and Caroline (Wolf) Pfaff on January 29, 1947, in Hartford, Wisconsin. She graduated from Horicon High School in 1965. Rachael was united in marriage to Duanne E. Brandenburg on August 26, 1967, at St. John’s Brown Corner. Rachael was a faithful member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Juneau.
Rachael was very artistic and loved creating new things. She often could be found reading a good book. Rachael’s family was very dear to her, especially her granddaughter Audra whom she helped raise from little on. She enjoyed travelling in their camper and had a great love for Blue Grass music.
Rachael will be greatly missed by her husband Duanne ‘Butch’; her granddaughter Audra (Dante Aldaco) Brandenburg; a great- grandson Waylon; and her brother Wesley Pfaff. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.
Rachael was preceded in death by her parents and her son Waylon.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Audra, Rachael’s granddaughter, for her endless love and devotion shown to Grandma. The family also wishes to thank Jayne Walter for her loving care and friendship shown to Rachael over the years. Rachael’s family will never forget the care and compassion shown to Rachael and her family during her time at Charleston House. They would like to thank the staff there as well as the nurses and caregivers with SSM Hospice.

Fred E. Kasten - May 19, 1936 - April 10, 2024

Fred Kasten, 87, of Horicon passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Marshfield Medical Center in Beaver Dam with his daughters at his side.
Fred was born on May 19, 1936 in Horicon to Carl and Alma (Michael) Kasten.  After graduating from Horicon High School in 1954, Fred served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1954 – 1958 where he was stationed aboard the USS Leyte. Fred tended bar at Fat’s Tavern, his parents’ bar in Horicon.   He was then employed with Gardner Manufacturing and later with International Harvester.
Fred was united in marriage with Mary Ann Marlock in 1960, and although their union didn’t last, they had five children together who they adored.
Fred enjoyed fishing, hunting, his friends, and family, but most of all loved being a grandpa and great grandpa.
Fred is survived by his children: Kraig (Kari) Kasten of Beaver Dam, Kevin (Patty) Kasten of Ripon, Kelly Kasten of Waupun, Korey Kasten of Horicon, and Kimberly Kasten of Horicon; seven grandchildren: Kolin Kasten, Kortnee (Chris Neuman) Kasten, Kii (Morgan) Kasten, Kyle Kasten, Kelsey (Jonathon) Lubbers, Katlyn Kasten, and Kristian Kasten; great grandchildren: Lyla, Graycen, Maisel, and Karoline; sister-in-law Janet Kasten; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters: Lorraine Rohloff, Carol ‘Kate’ Kasten, and Lois Plautz; and his brother Michael Kasten.
Fred was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Horicon.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Horicon from 10 a.m. until noon.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at noon with Fr. Justin Lopina officiating.  Interment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Horicon with military honors to be conducted.

Gerald M. Kreckow - April 09, 1937 - February 23, 2024

Obituary Preview: Gerald M. Kreckow, age 86, of Waupun, formerly of Horicon passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024 at the Waupun Christian Home in Waupun.
A private family funeral will take place at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church in Horicon and burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery with military honors to be conducted by the Horicon American Legion Post #157.
Gerald was born the son of Orin and Ruth (Miller) Kreckow in Horicon on April 9, 1937. He was a 1955 graduate of Horicon High School and then went on to serve his country honorably in the US Army, serving in the 101 Air Born Division in Fort Campbell, KY., and through the Pacific. After the Army, Gerald worked for Gardner Manufacturing in Horicon and retired after 45 years. Gerald was also a talented taxidermist. He was a longtime member of St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church in Horicon. Gerald was also a life long member of the Horicon American Legion Post #157.
Gerald is survived by his son- Derek (Cindy) Kreckow of Columbus. Grandchildren - Ashley (Shawn) Sinotte of Lomira and Amber (Travis) Basler of Waupun. Great grandchildren- Briella and Savanna. Further survived by other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and step sister Marlene Rupnow.
Memorial may be directed to the Dodge County Humane Society.

Donald B. Mayo - February 10, 1934 - February 18, 2024

Obituary Preview: With a smile on his face and a song in his heart, Donald B. Mayo, 90, Horicon passed away on February 18,2024 with family at his side.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, February 26, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Parish in Horicon with the Rev. Fr. Justin Lopina presiding. A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 25, from 3-5 p.m. at Koepsell Funeral Home in Horicon and again on Monday, February 26 from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at St. Malachy Cemetery in Horicon.
Donald was born Feb. 10, 1934, in West Bend WI to Curtis and Marie (Jaeger) Mayo. He joined brother, Denis, and later welcomed sister, Kay (Lettenberger) to the family. He was an active West Bend community member and an avid four-sport athlete in high school. He originally attended college on an athletic scholarship then earned his undergraduate degree and became a proud alumnus of Marquette University. Later he attended and earned a graduate degree and completed coursework for his dissertation in Education and Leadership Policy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
On June 16, 1956, he married Janet K. Roberts, who had been his sweetheart since 8th grade, beginning the next phase of his life. Donald and Janet raised five children, Andrea Macheel (Steve), Melissa (Marvin Hansen), Melanie Gregory (James), Donald Jr. “D.J.” (Chanz Belotindos) and Patrick (Mindy Brandenstein). He was fortunate and thrilled to have 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, and to call Rotary Exchange students Ernesto Echeverri and Oksana Pouga his bonus children.
Donald was a passionate educator with a career that spanned more than 40 years in public education as a teacher, coach, and school administrator in Wilton, Janesville, Marshall, and Horicon retiring as District Administrator of Horicon School District.
Donald was also a lifetime Rotarian and was committed to its mission of service to others. He filled many leadership roles at local, district and international levels. He found his greatest reward in the youth exchange program where he combined his advocacy for youth and commitment to multiculturalism by helping young people see the world through the inbound and outbound student exchange programs supporting educational travel for thousands of students.
Donald loved making people laugh, leading most conversations with a joke or pun and taking advantage of a good Yogi Berra quote. He enjoyed a good brandy Manhattan, and playing golf, bridge and racquetball and always kept a close eye on the Bucks, Packers, Brewers, and Golden Eagles. But his favorite pastime was attending the many sporting and musical activities of his family members.
Remember when you come to a fork in the road, take it. Also, no matter where you go, there you are (Yogi Berra).

Obituary Preview: James Weber, age 73, of Horicon passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.
A private family inurnment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Horicon.
James was born the son of Delmar and Florence (Kirchman) Weber on October 30, 1950. He was united in marriage to Judy Redmann on May 19, 1973 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mayville. James had worked as a painter and then head of the paint line at Maysteel, APW, and then retiring from Gleason Reel. In his spare time James enjoyed being out in nature while hunting and fishing. He also loved to socialize and spend time with his family and liked the occasional cold one.
James is survived by his wife Judy of Horicon. His son’s- Terry (Gina) Weber of Beaver Dam and Tom Weber of Horicon. His grandchildren- Tanner, Jesse, and Wesson Weber, Angie Kaiser, and Jeremiah Woodke, Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Mark, and sister Bonnie Dobratz.

Joseph A. Lake - April 25, 1967 - January 12, 2024

Obituary Preview: Joseph (Joe) Albert Lake or “007, Joe Cool or Missouri Joe” was taken too soon from our world to be with his Heavenly Father. His family honors his passing on January 12, 2024.
Joe was born April 25, 1967, to Howard and Carmen (Elder) Lake in Hannibal, Missouri. He graduated from Philadelphia, Missouri’s Marion County R-II high school in 1985. Over the years he earned numerous certificates, furthering his education in his fields of work.
Joe grew up in the Hannibal, Missouri. In his youth he was very active in riding and showing horses with the Tri-County Buffalo Rangers Saddle Club. He also raced cars, ran demo derby cars, and rode bulls in the local rodeo circuits. He loved farming with his dad and helping him repair farm equipment. Joe loved being out in the woods, hunting and fishing. He also played banjo and guitar in the Lake Family Band. Joe loved to restore farm equipment and he restored his grand dad’s John Deere GP, which is still running and used in many parades in Missouri.
Joe will be remembered for his outgoing, friendly personality. He never met a stranger, always making friends. You would know Joe was in the room before you saw him by his infectious and unique laugh. He was legendary for his card playing and board games winnings. Joe also had impressive cornhole bean bag skills, notorious for being able to drop air mail bags almost all the time. He was very active in local, Wisconsin, and Midwest tournaments.
Joe was a jack-of-all trades. In his life he worked various jobs in farming, trucking, cement work, railroad mechanic, security, and cable installation. He put his whole heart and soul into helping people out. His ability to trouble-shoot and come up with solutions was well-known and people sought his help on various projects. Joe was also active in his church, Sacred Heart in Horicon, Wisconsin. He loved to help with youth pizza making, always kidding around and telling jokes.
Joe and Melissa (Sette) met in February 2000 and were married in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin in June 2002 and eventually settled on her family farm in Juneau, Wisconsin. Joe loved his family and always looked for ways to celebrate together and help out when needed.
Joe is survived by his wife, Melissa and daughters Carmen and Rose Lake; Father-in-Law, Robert Sette (Juneau, WI). Sons, Aaron King (Sarah Hope, children: Samara Darlene Muller-King, Robert Lee King II, Malachai Maverick Odin King) (Collinsville, Illinois) and Tyler Lake (Moberly, MO). Daughters Ashton Lake (Aaron Speek, children: Granden Lake, Essence Lake, Kynsten Whisenand, Aurelia Speek)(Moberly, MO), Molly Lake (Korbyn and Kyzer Luckett) (Palmyra, MO), and Abby Stratton (Josh) and children, Genevieve and Edith (Osage Beach, MO). His father, Howard J. Lake; brother, Junior Lake (Linda); Christina Blair (James); Tonya Lake; Teresa Brown (Dennis); Dot Lake (Tami Lyons); Liz Donath (Mike); Cecelia Obert (Rick); Jenny Bemis (Ron); and brother, Stacey Lake. And numerous nieces and nephews.
Joe was proceeded in death by his mother, Carmen O. (Elder) Lake; mother-in-law, Rosemary Schulz; brother-in-law, James Blair; niece Lisa (Lake) Parshall and nephew, James Vincent Lake and several great aunts and uncles.
Visitation for Joe will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Horicon on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. On Wednesday, January 17, 2024, there will also be a visitation at church from 9:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at church on Wednesday beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Justin Lopina officiating. Burial will be at Juneau City Cemetery.

Robert Franklin Weiss - July 28, 1929 - January 08, 2024

Obituary Preview: Robert Franklin Weiss, 94, of Horicon passed away peacefully on Monday, January 8, 2024 at Marvin’s Manor in Horicon.
Robert was born on July 28, 1929 the son of Frank and Hulda A. (Key) Weiss in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.  Bob was a graduate of Juneau High School.  He proudly serviced his Country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.  Bob returned to Horicon and then served the Horicon Community in many ways.
Bob was a police officer for the City of Horicon for 26 years.  He was a former member of the Horicon City Council and was instrumental in the building of the Fire and EMS building.  He was on the Horicon Chamber of Commerce Tourism Council, and an alderman.  He was a member and served on the Board of Directors for the Friends of Dodge County Parks.  Bob worked on building the Wild Goose Trail, the development of the Gold Star Trail and was instrumental in the establishment of the Horicon Marsh International Educational Center.
Bob was a faithful member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Horicon and enjoyed singing in the choir.  He was a member of the John Deere Retirees Spitfire Club.  Bob was a member of the Horicon American Legion Post #157 and was proud to be able to go on the Badger Honor Flight.  He was a member of the Pomeranian German Society Freestate. He was a lifelong avid Packer fan.  Bob was humorous, kind, proud of his Community and a true gentleman.  He will be deeply missed.
Bob is survived by his brother Allen Weiss of Beaver Dam; nieces and nephews: Loralee (Robert) Engels, Lee Allen (Kay) Weiss, Ellen (Mike) Christians, Marcia (Craig) Kadinger, Ryan (Nicole) Helmer and Teresa (Chris) Sawyer; great nieces and great nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Carol, second wife Delores and his niece Rachel Hammons.
A visitation for Bob will be held on Monday, January 15, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Horicon. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Mark C. Wilkens officiating. Interment will be at St. Malachy Cemetery. Graveside Military Honors will be conducted by the Horicon American Legion Post #157.
Memorials in Bob’s name may be directed to St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 505 N. Palmatory Street, Horicon, WI  53032.

Anna "Lu" Pedigo - September 28, 1926 - December 27, 2023

Obituary Preview: Anna LuElla “Lu” Pedigo, age 97, passed away on December 27, 2023 surrounded by her family.
She was born on September 28, 1926 in Stoddard County, Missouri to Therman “Bert” and Velma (Tate) Weaver.  When she was a teenager she moved to Lewistown, Ill where she graduated from Lewistown High School.
On June 25, 1949, she married Robert E. Pedigo.  They had four children Robert IV “Bob”, Elizabeth “Beth”, Margaret “Meg” and Julie.  She was very active in her children’s lives leading Girl Scout, Boy Scout and United Methodist Youth groups.
Lu was an avid homemaker.  She was skilled at sewing, quilting, knitting and doll making. She won several awards, including a second place worldwide in doll competition. She enjoyed crafting with her grandchildren and was able to meet all of her great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and son.  She is survived by her daughters Beth (John) Sullivan, Meg (Ted) Trumpp and Julie Pedigo; her grandchildren, Colleen Dunne, John Sullivan, Tim Sullivan, Kristen Johnson, Bob Pedigo, Austin Trumpp and Allison Beck and 13 great-grandchildren.
According to LuElla’s wishes a private graveside service will be held at a later date.

Visitation for Dave will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Horicon on December 7, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at church on December 7, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Justin Lopina will officiate. Burial will be at St. Malachy Cemetery in Horicon where military honors will be performed by Horicon American Legion Post #157.
David Edward Lentz was born on October 13, 1943 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to Adelbert and Grace (Fagan) Lentz. He graduated from Horicon High School in 1961. Dave served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from October 15, 1964 to August 15, 1968. On May 26, 1973, he was united in marriage with Marlene Froemming at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Horicon. Dave worked at John Deere Horicon Works for many years, retiring in 2000. He enjoyed gardening, reading, and watch watching military documentaries and history on Public TV. Dave was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Horicon where he served as sacristan and was on the Prayer and Worship committee. He was also a member of the Horicon American Legion Post #157.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene Lentz of Juneau; his daughter, Teresa (Chris) Sawyer of Horicon; two grandsons, Alexander Sawyer (Jennifer Schmidt) and Zachery Sawyer, both of Horicon; a brother-in-law, Robert Weiss of Horicon; a sister-in-law, Janice (Dan) Roethle; a brother-in-law, David (Kathy) Froemming; six nieces and nephews, Ellen (Mike) Christians, Marcia (Craig) Kadinger, Ryan (Nicole) Helmer, and their daughter Sarah, Joel (Colleen) Christians, Caitlin (Brad) Engelmann, and Brian (Natalie) Froemming; other relatives and friends. Earl J. Ritter - July 19, 1934 - November 19, 2023

Obituary Preview: Earl Ritter, 89, of Beaver Dam and formerly of Horicon, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 19, 2023.
Earl was born on July 19, 1934, in La Crosse WI, the son of Jacob Robert and Viola (Jerue) Ritter. His passion for the visual and performing arts was cultivated in his youth with dance and art lessons. After graduating from Aquinas High School, he began college at UW-L and worked as a shoe salesman at Doerflingers Department Store until he was drafted into the United States Army.
After his military service, he returned to La Crosse to complete his degrees in history and art education. Thanks to his friend Jim Kerrigan, Earl was convinced to join Jim and his future wife Mary Lee, when they set him up on a blind date with Anita Langen.  Earl and Anita celebrated the anniversary of this first date for the next 62 years.  A year after that blind date, Earl and Anita were married in La Crosse on June 2, 1962.
Earl started his teaching career in Alma Center, WI and then he and Anita settled in Horicon, WI where he would spend the next 35 years teaching art, along with directing plays and musicals, coaching forensics, and being the advisor for the Junior Prom and the high school yearbook.
Family and friends were at the center of Earl’s life. Whether it was sitting at a baseball or softball diamond, attending a play and dinner with friends, spending time with his grandchildren creating the perfect Christmas gifts for their parents, or setting someone in a hand of Euchre, Earl lived for special moments with the people he loved.  His grandchildren were his biggest pride and joy and he always made the effort to stay connected to the people he cared about.
Earl’s faith was a very important part of his life and he was an active member of St. Malachy Parish in Horicon and was instrumental in the design of the new church that was built when the Sacred Heart Parish was formed.
His love of the visual and performing arts led Earl to become involved with the Beaver Dam Area Arts Association as a member of the Board of Directors, an exhibit chairperson, and an exhibitor; as well as the Beaver Dam Community Theater, being active on the Board of Directors, directing many summer musicals, and designing the sets for many others.
Surviving Earl are his wife of 61 years, Anita; his children, Cathy (Rich) Loomans, and Mark (Liz McFarland)  Ritter; Grandchildren: Amber (Rufus) Manual, Derek (Grace) Loomans, Holly Loomans, Courtney (Bobbie Stephens) Ritter, and Isaac (Janae) Loomans; and Great Grandchildren: Bella, Jordan, Mia, Giovanni, Charlotte and Noelle; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; cousins; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law Norbert and Marie Langen, and his daughter-in-law Gina Ritter.
Earl was very proud of the number of his students that pursued careers in the arts. He enjoyed following their careers and connecting with them through the years.  To honor his legacy, in lieu of flowers, Earl’s family requests that memorials please be made to the Fond du Lac Area Foundation, 1020 S. Visitation for Anita will be held at church on Monday, October 16 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service at St. Malachy’s Cemetery in Horicon.
Anita was born the daughter of Herman and Regina (Beisbier) Ruhland on June 22, 1930, in the town of LeRoy, Wisconsin. She was united in marriage to Roland Froemming at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in LeRoy on December 30, 1950. Anita was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Parish in Horicon.
Anita was very nurturing and kind by nature and was known as the neighborhood grandma. She enjoyed cooking and baking delicious treats for her family and friends. The family always gathered at her house for the holidays.
Anita will be remembered by her children: Marlene (David) Lentz of Juneau, Rev. David (Kathy) Froemming of Lancaster, and Janice (Dan) Roethle of Horicon; her grandchildren: Caitlin (Brad) Engelmann, Brian (Natalie) Froemming, Teresa (Chris) Sawyer; 5 great-grandchildren: Alex, Zachery, Luca, Emmett, and Howard; her sister LaVernia Ruhland of Juneau; and good friend Janice Smith. Anita is further survived by her nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roland; a brother Marvin; and her sister Dolores.

Mary Ann was a faithful member of the Church of Peace in Fond du Lac. She was a graduate of L.P. Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac.
Mary Ann was a gifted crafter and enjoyed making anything from flowers to ceramics. She enjoyed spending time in nature fishing with her family and was a drag racer at Kaukauna Speedway. Mary Ann was passionate about animals and was involved with the Humane Society and a member of the ASPCA.
Mary Ann will be missed by her loving husband, Stephen; children: Will (Amy) Lacharite, John (fiancée Cassie) Dettloff, Drew (Alena) Schmidt; grandchildren: Austyn (fiancée Emilie) Lacharite, Kobe (special friend, Vanessa) Lacharite, Gavin Lacharite, Todd (Tanya) Lookman, Cassie Lookman, Anya Schmidt, Rhea ten Bruggencate, Bowie Jo ten Bruggencate, Olivia Dettloff, Kolton Dettloff, and Peyton Detloff; great-grandchildren: Noah Lookman, Jaxon Lacharite; sister: Kathy LaPine Bozich. John Patrick was born on July 19, 1933 in northern Michigan to Elmer and Adeline (Anderson) Belisle. He was united in marriage to Nancy Lieber on November 7, 1953 in Cudahy, Wisconsin. He proudly served in the United States Airforce during the Korean War. John had many jobs throughout his life; he worked in a few factories, was a truck driver, and worked as a roofer, while he operated a dairy farm too. He retired in 2010 and enjoyed spending time bowling and fishing. John especially liked to go dancing with his sweetheart throughout the Dodge County area and surrounding areas.

James was born on August 6, 1955, in Appleton, Wisconsin to his parents Donald and Josephine (Van Stralen) Solberg. He was a 1976 graduate of James Madison High School in Milwaukee. James was united in marriage to Elizabeth Wrobel on June 11, 1986.
James helped his father with masonry work. Together they completed a variety of different types of jobs and projects. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. James took great pride in making his own fishing poles and jigs. He could often be found cheering on the Packers or watching wrestling. Family time was something that James cherished, and his legacy will continue through them and the memories they share of him.

Irene’s faith was something she lived everyday and could often be found reading her Bible or listening to it on tapes. She was a former member of Christian Life Fellowship in Mayville. Irene enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. She also was an avid reader, especially of novels. Irene enjoyed passing time by bird watching.

Obituary Preview: Thomas J. Plaskey, 77, of Horicon, peacefully passed away on Thursday morning, August 17, 2023, at his cherished home. He was born on May 30, 1946, the beloved son of Julius and Helen (Staudenmaier) Plaskey. Thomas, affectionately known as Tom, TP, and Hotdog, was a graduate of Kewaskum High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army. Throughout his life, he found fulfillment as a farmer, welder, and dedicated member of the Boilmakers Union.
Tom's diverse range of hobbies and interests brought him immense happiness. He took pleasure in working on cars, casting his fishing line, tending to his garden, and preserving his bountiful harvest through canning. His feline companion, C-A-T, was a constant source of companionship, perched faithfully on his shoulder. Tom is survived his grandchildren: Brittany Tock-Korslin and Cheveyo Plaskey; and his sisters: Betty Greuel, and especially Louise Plaskey, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond and countless cherished memories.
In addition to his sisters, Tom will be deeply missed by his niece, Annabelle Kelly, who lovingly served as his devoted caregiver during his final months. With unwavering support and boundless compassion, she guided him through his transition into the next phase of life, providing him with comfort and solace. Their profound connection held a special place in his heart. Tom also shared an unbreakable friendship of 15 years with his best friend, Bob Bob Bob, who was always there for him, ready to drop everything at a moment's notice. Tom's faithful friend, Fred Albrecht provided him with unwavering support and companionship. He leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Tom was preceded in death by his loving parents, Julius and Helen Plaskey, as well as his beloved son, Jason Plaskey. He also mourned the loss of his sister, Eileen, her husband Delbert Nyhouse, and his brothers Stan and Bernard Plaskey. Additionally, he mourned the loss of his brother-in-law Chester Greuel, as well as his nieces Kelly Plaskey, Paulette Brown, and Barbie Heule, and his nephew Vinny Greuel.
A memorial gathering to celebrate Tom's remarkable life is currently being planned, with details to be shared among family and friends in the near future. During this time, let us remember Tom for the joy he brought to our lives and the indelible memories we shared with him. Steven Beauprey officiating.  Military honors will be conducted by the Horicon American Legion Post #157.  Interment will be at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia, Wisconsin on Monday, August 21st.
Gene was born on August 5, 1949 the son of Raymond and Margaret (Fulmer) Bertelson in Waukesha, Wisconsin. He was a graduate of Oconomowoc High School.  Gene proudly served his country in the United States Navy during Vietnam War.  On September 16, 1972, he was united in marriage with Christine A. Pilgrim in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.
Gene had been employed in metal fabrication at Mayville Metal for over 30 years.  He had also worked for Brownberry Ovens for several years.
Gene was a founding and faithful member of the Pentecostal House of Prayer-Horicon.  He was active in many aspects of the church from the construction of the existing church to playing guitar for services. He had a deep faith and shared this with his family.  He was a member of the Horicon American Legion Post #157.
Gene also enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and just tinkering around.  He will fondly be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and snacking on his signature snack of popcorn.
Gene will be deeply missed by his wife of 50 years Christine; his children: William (Karen) Bertelson of Horicon, Patrick (Ellen) Bertelson of Rubicon, Candace (Edward) Gromowski of Clyman, Aaron Bertelson of Horicon; grandchildren: Gracelyn, Ariannah, Jadrien, Ethan, Vaughn and Lucas Bertelson; step granddaughter Morgan (Bill) Miller; step great granddaughter Leah Miller; sister Kathryn Renz and brother Michael (Lisa) Bertelson.  He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Linda is survived by her husband David of Horicon; three children: Brian Schweitzer of Sussex, Adam Schweitzer of Fox Lake, and Heather Schweitzer of Horicon; her parents: Gerald and Marie Frank of Beaver Dam; her siblings: James (Joanne) Frank of Beaver Dam and Lisa (Mark) Weiland of Washington State; other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 12, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Horicon, with Rev. Renae Dymond officiating. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. at the church. Inurnment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Horicon.
Claude Harvey Rex was born on April 11, 1931 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to the late Harvey and Jessie (Goodearle) Rex. He graduated from Horicon High School in 1949. Claude served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1955, as a rifle instructor. When he returned from the military, Claude began farming in the Town of Hubbard; he later passed that farm on to his two sons. Claude had a love for farming. He was director for the Dodge County Farm Bureau and a founding member of the Dodge County Dairy Promotion Committee. On September 8, 1957, Claude was united in marriage with Carol Radke; she preceded him in death in April of 2011. On July 28, 2012, he was united in marriage with Elaine Gunst. He was a long-time member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Horicon. In 2016, Claude was very proud to take part in the Honor Flight to Washington DC accompanied by his eldest grandson, Thomas. He enjoyed taking road trips, playing cards and sharing a beer.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Rex of Horicon; three children, Cynthia (William) Peterson of Sussex, Curtis (Kay) Rex and Craig (Diann) Rex, both of Horicon; grandchildren, Chloe (Jesse) Gaines, Carly Peterson, Thomas (Ana) Rex, Theresa (Ryan) Kuhn, Andrew Rex, Robert (Anna) Rex, Maria (Peter) Boggeln, Matthew (Kayla) Rex, Melody Rex, Allison Rex, and Hamilton Rex; thirteen great grandchildren; his brother, Rodney Rex of Iron Ridge; four step-children, Noreen (Larry) Dogs, Curtis Gunst, Willis (Carla) Gunst, and Dennis (Nichole) Gunst; nine step grandchildren, and ten step great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Claude was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Rex; a grandson, Alexander Rex; and two great grandchildren, baby Kuhn and Collyns Joy Rex.

Ray was a farmer all his life. First with his dad in Germantown and then he and Mardell bought a farm in rural Iron Ridge, WI in 1968. He was a member of Sacred Heart church in Horicon, WI. He was an avid card player and especially loved playing sheepshead.
Survivors include his wife Mardell of 60 years and their four children, Debra Layman, E. Palo Alto, CA; Marci (Jeff) Laufenberg, Malone, WI; Dennis (Shelley) Roskopf, Beaver Dam, WI; and David (Monica) Roskopf, Iron Ridge, WI. Grandchildren Ethan Laufenberg, Trevor and Brendan Roskopf. Step Grandchildren Cody Albrecht and Chelsey (Samantha) Albrecht. One step great grandchild, Kloie. Sisters Cathy Daniels, Lorraine (Richard) Weiland, brothers Kenneth (Karen) Roskopf, Joseph Roskopf, and Ronald (Sandra) Roskopf. Further survived by many loving relatives and friends.

She was united in marriage to Dennis Persha on September 30, 1961 at St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Horicon. Together they raised their two daughters Stacey and Stephanie.
Lynn was a secretary at John Hustis Elementary School in Hustisford for many years. She also was a member of the Hustisford EMS. She loved gardening and selling veggies at local farmer’s market. Lynn loved taking trips up north to Rhinelander with the family and random casino trips. She was also a member of the Horicon Collector Clique.
Lynn will be missed by her loving husband, Dennis Persha of Mayville; daughters: Stacey Persha of Waunakee; Stephanie (Lee) Bonack of Mayville; grandchildren: Tenley Schwartz; Jessica (Ethan) Hass; Matt Bonack; Chelsey Ripple; and 2 great-grandchildren: Mason Ripple and Loretta Hass. Vernon was born on September 14, 1948 the son of Vernon E. and Margaret (Scholtes) Westphal Sr. in Hartford, Wisconsin. He was a 1966 graduate of Horicon High School.  He was married to Eleanor Kohls who preceded him in death, and later he was married to Darlene Pieper.
Vernon worked as a carpenter with area contractors and he was a pole builder with Pioneer Pole of Mayville for many years.  Later, Vern was employed with the Horicon Department of Public Works from 1986 until 2005, when he retired.
Vern was a member of First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. He was a member of the Horicon Marsh Kiwanis.  Vern was an avid Packer, Badger, and Auto Racing Fan.  He enjoyed bowling and photography.  Vern enjoyed and will be fondly remembered for driving his decorated golf cart throughout the Oak Point Village neighborhood during the Summer months.
Vernon is survived by relatives, friends and neighbors.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Eleanor in 2001, his sister Arlene Hartwig and his brother in infancy.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Horicon on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 from noon until 1:00 p.m.  A Memorial Service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Jim Wendt officiating.  Inurnment will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.

David Mark was born on March 2, 1970 in Snoqualmie, Washington to Charles and Loretta (Owens) Lormis. On May 17, 2008, he was united in marriage to Christine Koch, who blessed him with four children that he adored. David was a loving husband and always found ways to make his wife feel cherished. He also loved spending time with his family, especially out on the family boat, fishing, and swimming in the lake. Whenever the grandkids were over, squeals of laughter could always be heard throughout the house while they were goofing around with their "Papa". He enjoyed spending time in his garage creating countless projects out of wood, fixing cars, working on motors, and tinkering his day away. Everyone who knew him always looked forward to enjoying his homemade ice cream in the summer and skiing together in the winter. He could always be found helping in any way he could. He brought hope and joy to many through his music. Above all, he loved his Lord, his family, and his church.

Obituary Preview: Susan Marie Ludtke, age 63, of Juneau passed away on Monday, January 2, 2023 at The Meadows of Fall River Assisted Living.
There will be a memorial gathering at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Horicon on Friday, January 6, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial for Susan will follow at church on Friday beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Justin Lopina presiding. Inurnment will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Juneau.
Susan was born on June 10, 1959 in Elgin, Illinois, the daughter of Peter and Charlene (Van Kirk) Hardt. Susan was united in marriage with Stuart Ludtke on September 14, 1984 in Juneau. She worked her whole life putting others first. Susan worked tirelessly as a nurse at Clearview for many years, as a Juneau EMT for over 27 years, and also taught CPR classes to countless people in the community. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Parish in Horicon where she taught CCD. Susan loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping with her family. She loved to swim and liked crafts. Susan always looked forward to the holidays and the time spent with her family.
She is survived by her husband Stuart of Juneau; her sons, Joseph Ludtke of Beaver Dam, Anthony (Kristen) Ludtke of Nashotah, and Zach (Samantha) Ludtke of Kaukauna; her siblings, Mitch (Sue) Hardt of Florida, Pam (Mike) Buske of Clyman, Mary Hardt of Juneau, and Steve (Laurie) Hardt of Florida; her grandchildren, Kinsley, Emersyn, Kaisyn, Addilyn, Tamsyn, Amelia, Cecilia, and Rosalia; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Susan was preceded in death by her parents and her son, David.
