Obituary Preview: MORTON — Clyde R. Crumley, 88, of Morton, passed away Friday, November 26, 2021, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born on August 15, 1933, in Bainbridge Township, Ill., to Ralph and Sarah (Dodds) Crumley. He married Sandra Kemper on August 9, 1959, in Canton, Ill.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra Crumley of Morton; one son, Steve (Emily) Crumley of White Bear Township, Minn.; one sister of Canton, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
Clyde retired as a quality control inspector at Caterpillar. He enjoyed building and seemed to always be fixing something. In addition to being a pool shark, Clyde also did daily crossword puzzles and collected and read Western novels. He liked covered bridges and above everything else, he loved his family and all of the family dogs.

Dick W. Campbell - August 26, 1942 - November 25, 2021

Obituary Preview: MORTON — Dick W. Campbell, 79, of Morton, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2021, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
He was born on August 26, 1942, in Jerseyville, Ill., to Joseph Wilbur and Edith Marvel (Fritz) Campbell.
Surviving are his three children, Tim (Sheri) Campbell of St. Louis, Mo., Cindy (Dave) Wondercheck of Normal and Barry Campbell of Morton; 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one sister, Janet Legate of Grafton, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Barbara Jean Campbell.
Dick moved to Morton in 1966 and immediately impacted the community in a number of ways.
In the late 1960s, early 1970s, while serving as elder, he helped convert an old dairy barn into the First Presbyterian Church of Morton. The church is still in operation today.
During the 70s, Dick was on the board of the Morton Youth Baseball League and built the first baseball fields at what was then called Leo Field (Westwood Park).
Dick also joined the Morton Fire Department in the 1960s, rising to the rank of Fire Chief until his retirement in 1992.  During his time on the Department, he was responsible for implementing the 911 program and the first paramedic unit in Morton. Dick's occupation was as the General Manager of Farmers Co-op Grain Association from 1966 until his retirement in 2002. Shortly
before his retirement, he starting building his farm into a boarding facility for horses, which were his true love!  His family and friends would say that Dick was truly in his element at this time in his life. Unfortunately, soon after (April 01'), Dick suffered a brain injury from a fall at his farm which affected him greatly until his death.

He was born on April 4, 1964, in Peoria, Ill., to Leonard and Sharon (Wittekiend) Broy. He married Kimberly Hubler in Vandalia, Ill., on February 18, 1989.
Surviving are his wife, Kim Broy of Morton; daughter, Heather (Zac) Maston of Quincy, Ill.; son, T.J. Broy of Willimantic, Conn.; granddaughter, Opal Maston; two brothers, Mark (Rhonda) Broy of Morton and Chuck Broy of Creve Coeur; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by both parents.
Tom was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved his family and would tell anyone who would listen how proud he was of his kids. His favorite role in recent years was being Opal’s “papa”.
Tom was a member of First Baptist Church in Morton, where he was known affectionately as “Mr. Tom” by his preschool class.
Cremation rites will be accorded. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, with Pastor Ben Towell officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial of cremated remains will be at Roberts Cemetery in Morton.

She was born on May 11, 1924, Decatur, Ill., to Roy George and Elsie Minerva (Miller) Preston. She married Clarence Edward Stocks on June 29, 1946, in Champaign, Ill. He preceded her in death on February 13, 2016. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Shirley A. Pruitt, Lois A. Harris, and Alberta L. Long; and her brother, Wayne L. Preston.
Surviving are one daughter, Karen (Terry) Rogers of Morton; one son, Craig E. (Deborah) Stocks of St. George, Utah; seven grandchildren, Matthew Rogers of Peoria, Mark (Amie) Rogers of Spring Hill, Tenn., Joy (Tim) Thompson of Morton, Julianne (Charity Grandon) Rogers of Peoria, Janea’ (Michael) Kiesewetter of Washington, Ill., Cassandra (Steve) Hull of Delavan, Ill., Christopher Stocks of St. George, Utah; 19 great-grandchildren; one sister, Jean Scheuermann of Monticello, Ill.; and sister-in-law, Dorma Preston of Washington, Utah.
Winifred was a bookkeeper at Ginny Lee’s for 34 years, a tax accountant for Fort & Wanner, a telemarketer for RL Polk Co., an investigator for Pinkerton Investigations, an administrative assistant for Gwen Phillips Realtor until her retirement at age 80.
She was a member of Morton United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and served as secretary and as a financial secretary at church. Winifred enjoyed crafts and making jewelry, and was a den mother for Cub Scout Troop 178 for 3 years.
Cremation rites will be accorded. A Celebration of Life service will be at 10 a.m., November 29, 2021, at Morton United Methodist Church in Morton, with Pastor Gary Motta officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 28, 2021, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton and also from 9 to 9:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church on Monday. Inurnment will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.
Memorials may be made to Morton United Methodist Church Building Fund or OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice.
Winifred’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice for their compassionate care.

Obituary Preview: MORTON – Thomas Joseph Quinn, 80, of Morton, passed away at 4:17am on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Tabor Hills in Naperville, Ill.
He was born on August 12, 1941, in Normal, Ill., to Claude and Mary (Fruin) Quinn, and grew up on the family farm in Gridley, Ill.  He married Sandra Ricci in LaSalle, Ill., on July 6, 1963.
He is survived by Sandra, his wife of 58 years; son, Patrick (Aimee) of Foothill Ranch, Calif., and daughter, Taylor (Ethan) Steele; son, Timothy (Jennifer) of West Bountiful, Utah and children, Matthew (Baylee), Ashley, and Sophia St. John; daughter, Heather (Kristopher) Queen of Naperville, Ill., and daughters, Kayley and Sydney; and sisters, Kathy (Fred) Van Hecke of Grafton, Wisc. and Lois Quinn of Shorewood, Wisc.
Tom graduated from St. Bede Academy in Peru, Ill. in 1959, before enlisting with the Illinois National Guard.  He attended Marquette University until he was called to active duty with the Wisconsin National Guard during the Berlin Crisis. After active duty, he participated in an apprenticeship program with General Electric to become a Tool & Diemaker.  He worked as a Toolmaker for various companies before starting TQ Tool Design, which later became Design Systems.
Tom lent his time to local organizations, including the Morton Rotary Club, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, Tazwood Center for Wellness, and We Care, Inc.  He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
His hobbies included being an instrument rated single engine pilot, enjoying late model stock car racing, and cheering for his favorite sports teams, including the Peoria Rivermen.
There will be no service.

Obituary Preview: MORTON – Francis K. “Frank” Weihmeir, 91, of Morton, passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Reflections Memory Care in Morton.
He was born on August 21, 1930, in Hopedale, Ill., to William and Anna (Murphy) Weihmeir. He married Helen Atherton in Peoria, Ill., on June 7, 1952. She preceded him in death on May 28, 2012. He was also preceded in death by one brother; and two sisters.
Surviving are his daughter, Carolyn Weihmeir of Morton; and special friend, Nellie Thannert of Morton.
Frank was a US Navy veteran. He was in the automobile business for most of his life, co-owning Village Buick for many years. He started Morton Auto Auction in November 1978 and was co-owner for 28 years. He continued to be employed there until 2019.
He was a member of the National and Midwest Auto Auction Associations, where he served as a board member and also for many years on the Bylaws, Ethics and Membership Committee. Frank had served as president of the Metro Auto Dealer Association and spear-headed the Greater Peoria Auto Show. He was also a member of Morton American Legion.
Frank truly loved the auction business, and adored his Dobermans.
He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon on Friday, November 19, 2021, with Msgr. Gerald Ward officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, and also from 11 to 11:45 a.m. on Friday, prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be at Hirstein Cemetery in Morton with military honors by the US Navy and Tazewell Military Rites Team.

She was born on August 5, 1924, in Lewiston, Ill., to Patrick and Dale (Taylor) Fayhee. She married Edward Foster on August 20, 1946, in Lewistown, Ill. He preceded her in death on February 20, 2011. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard and Patrick “Tweed” Fayee.
Surviving are her children, Marcia (John) Schubert of Indianapolis, Ind., Glenna (Tom) Davies of Bloomington, Ill. and Gordon (Marjie) Foster of Heyworth, Ill.; six grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, one brother, Raymond Fayhee of Bushnell, Ill., one sister, Sandy (Squire) Butler of Sugar Grove, Ill. and one sister-in-law, Bonnie Fayhee of Bushnell, Ill.
Twila worked as a secretary for Caterpillar.
She loved traveling, playing cards with her friends and spending her winters with Ed at their McAllen, Texas home.
Twila was a member of Morton United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and enjoyed cooking for her church family.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, November 18, 2021, at Roberts Cemetery in Morton, with Pastor Larry Timm officiating.

She was born December 6, 1925, in Prescott, Kan., to August and Frances (Herndon) Hoffman. She married Burdell Hall, in Deer Creek, Ill., on Aug. 20, 1948. He preceded her in death on September 15, 2021. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Phillip “Brownie” and August “Booie”; one infant brother, Leonard; and one sister, Harriet “Babe” Stambaugh. Surviving are two sons, Karas Hall of Morton and Charles (and Cynthia) Hall of East Peoria; two grandchildren, Rachael (Andrew) Lenover of Eureka and Robert Hall of East Peoria; four great grandchildren, Dexter, Charlie, Andrea and Aylssa.
Botts worked at the Tazewell Publishing Co. from 1959 to 1966. She then worked at Bob Grimm Chevrolet in Morton for 18 years, retiring in 1984 as a bookkeeper. She was a member of Morton United Methodist Church, Central Illinois Antique Dealers Association and the American Art Pottery Association. She and her husband wrote the first two books on Morton’s 99-year pottery industry. Cremation rites will be accorded. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at Morton United Methodist Church, with Pastor Bill Novak officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m., prior to the service at the church. The service will be live streamed via the church Facebook profile at https://www.facebook.com/MortonUMC. He was born on November 12, 1964, in Peoria, Ill., to Harold and Cassalyn “Cassie” (Heintzman) Kessling. They both preceded him in death.
Surviving are his siblings, Kevin (Cheryl) Kessling of Charlotte, N.C., Karen (T.A.) Whitsitt of Champaign, Ill., and Kim (Mark) Johnson of Morton; eight nieces and nephews, Kelly (Tim) Kelly, Mike (Jamie) Kessling, Scott (Amy) Kessling, Matt Whitsitt, Emily Whitsitt, Ryan (Katie) Johnson, Sara (Greg) Roth, and Anna (Austin Reedy) Johnson; and 10 great-nieces and nephews, Owen Kessling, Ellie, Molly and Connor Kessling, Will, Grant and Audrey Johnson, and Nora, Tanner and Asher Roth.
Kirk graduated from Morton High School in 1983. After high school, he worked at K-Mart in Morton. He also volunteered for We Care, Inc., assembling their newsletter.
Anyone who knew Kirk knew he was an accomplished leathersmith and loved gifting his tooled leather pieces to friends and family. He was a great joke teller who loved making others laugh.
Kirk was strong in his faith and it was instilled in him by his parents that “God never gives you more than you can handle.” With that mentality, Kirk was able to live his life to the fullest and overcome the many obstacles that he endured.
Kirk’s family would like to thank Janet and Willie, two of his very special friends and caregivers from EP!C, and also his many friends and the staff at Creekwood Apartments, who all meant the world to Kirk.
He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton, where a Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, with Msgr. Loretta Hess - July 22, 1930 - November 09, 2021

Obituary Preview: DEER CREEK – Loretta R. “Toots” Hess, 91, of Deer Creek, Ill., passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka.
She was born on July 22, 1930, in Goodfield, Ill., to John and Elizabeth (Bucher) Hartman, the sixth of seven children. She married her teenage sweetheart, Robert W. “Bob” Hess, on November 12, 1949. He preceded her in death on February 23, 2002. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Rick and Scott; three brothers, Howard “Hop”, Harold “Bud”, and Roland “Sam”; and sister, Shirley.
Surviving are one son, Randy (Kris) Hess of High Ridge, Mo.; two daughters, Cindy (Mike Lowery) Hess of Deer Creek, Ill. and Cheri Hess Escobedo of Washington, Ill.; three grandchildren, Kati (Jahaan Ashfaq) Hess, Rick Hess, and Alyssa Escobedo; one great-granddaughter, Cali Campbell; one sister, Viola Wagner of Eureka; one brother, Richard “Dick” Hartman of DeKalb, Ill.; many nieces and nephews who considered her a second mom; and great-nieces and nephews.
In her early years, Loretta worked in the Deer Creek Grocery store for Dave Steffen, and also for many years in the 50’s and 60’s for Jim Maloof Cleaners, picking up and delivering dry cleaned clothes and taking in ironing. She was also a full-time wife, mother, and grandma, keeping a garden and canning fruits and vegetables for many years.
She was a great cook and baker, like her own mother, and has passed along many great recipes for her family to enjoy. Everyone always looked forward to the annual family reunions when she brought her famous goulash.
Loretta was a member of Goodfield Apostolic Christian Church for over 50 years, where a funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 22, 2021, at Goodfield Apostolic Christian Church, with church ministers officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 21, 2021, and also from 9 to 9:45 a.m. prior to the service on Monday, both at the church. At the request of the family, masks are required during the visitation and funeral service. Burial will be at Goodfield-Congerville Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Congerville.
Memorials may be made to Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka or Goodfield Apostolic Christian Church.
The family would like to thank the nurses, aides, and staff at Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka and UnityPoint Health Hospice for their compassionate care over the past two years.

Dean worked for Caterpillar, Inc., retiring in 1989, as a painter.
He was a member of Caterpillar Retirees Club, United Auto Workers Local 974, Bradley Chiefs Booster Club, and Loyal Order of Moose in Pontiac.

She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Bob and Hank Grimm; sisters, Marie Taufer, Norma Zeller and Carolyn Easterling; and one granddaughter, Dana Nichole Domnick.
Surviving are her children, Gerry (Doug) Kruse of Morton, Dale (Nancy) Domnick of Morton, Ellen (Ron) Farney of Bloomington, Kathy (Jim) Ritthaler of Morton, and Jan (Mark) Hohulin of Morton.; 13 grandchildren, April (Brad) Hartter, Haley (Tater) Kieser, Jessie (Tim) Mueller, Dale (Shannon) Domnick, Amy (Jordan) Repholz, Cally Farney, Kale (Heather) Farney, Sam (Meghan) Ritthaler, Katie (Justin) Herman, Joe (Kaitlyn Grant) Ritthaler, Tate (Melissa) Hohulin, Tyler Hohulin, and Troy Hohulin; and 27 great grandchildren.
Joyce worked in the office, for her brother, at Bob Grimm Chevrolet in Morton for 18 years, retiring in 1994.
Joyce was a regular volunteer at Restmor for many years.  She loved playing pickle ball and tennis and singing in different church events. Most of all, Joyce was a Godly woman who faithfully served her Lord.

Surviving are his wife Cindy Rinehart of Marquette Heights; two children, Matt Rinehart and Jen (Aaron) Oertle, both of Marquette Heights; two grandchildren, Aja and Riley Oertle; sister, Lois (Dennis) Veatch; many nieces and nephews; and three grandpuppies, Jersey, Marty, and Auggie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Alex Rinehart.
Eric was a machinist at Caterpillar, Inc. for 37 years, retiring in 2009.
He grew up fishing and camping with his grandparents. Eric enjoyed family vacations at Camp Liberty Resort in Nevis, Minn. He and his brother Alex enjoyed collecting coins.
Eric was an avid fan of the Peoria Rivermen, St. Louis Blues, Chicago Cubs, and Chicago Bears.
He and Cindy had recently helped their children remodel their homes. Eric had a sense of humor that was one of a kind and he didn’t know a stranger. He was quite the storyteller and always had a comeback for everything.
His family was his entire world and he loved them unconditionally. They loved him just as much.

Surviving are his wife, Roberta of Morton; daughter, Linnea (Mike) Zimmerman of Naperville, Ill.; son, Garrick (Elizabeth) of Bettendorf, Iowa; grandchildren, Evan and Taylor Zimmerman and Ian and Kathryn Herbst; sister, Carolyn (Leon) Ullensvang of Warson Woods, Mo.
Bill graduated from Bradley University in 1950 with an accounting degree. While at Bradley, Bill joined the Air National Guard and served for several years.
Bill worked as an accountant for CILCO (now Ameren) in Peoria for over 42 years. He retired in 1993 and traveled extensively, visiting all 7 continents, during his long retirement.
He enjoyed working in his yard, participating in classes and trips with the Bradley University’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), cheering for the Bradley basketball team as a season ticket holder for almost 50 years, and attending Peoria Symphony and Heartland Festival Orchestra concerts.
The family would like to thank their wonderful neighbors and friends for their help over the last few years.

He was preceded in death by both parents.
Brian worked for Caterpillar, Inc. in Peoria, retiring in December 2015 as a senior product specialist.
He enjoyed making a variety of pies and peanut brittle, his Wednesday morning men’s prayer group, painting, and was a fan of “old movies”, particularly movies featuring John Wayne.
Brian was a member of Morton United Methodist Church, where a funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 25, 2021, with Pastor Bill Novak and Matthew Knobloch officiating. Donnie loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting near his cabin in Browning, Ill. He had a love for classic cars and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. Donnie was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bears, and NASCAR.

She was born on August 13, 1938 in Pekin, Ill., to Edgar and Cecelia (Morrisey) Connell. She was the youngest of three children.
Surviving are her three children, Steve Reeser of East Peoria, Kathy (Steve) Schleyer of West Glacier, Mont., and Jeff Reeser of Groveland; one grandson, Nick Reeser of Morton; one brother, Paul Connell of Peoria; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Dick Reeser; and her brother Wayne.
Kay grew up on the family farm in Tremont. She graduated from Tremont High School in 1956. After high school, she attended Brown’s Business School in Peoria.
She worked at CILCO in the office where she met Richard “Dick” Reeser, who worked at CILCO as an electrician. They married on May 16, 1959, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton. They raised their three children in East Peoria.
After the children were older, she worked various jobs. She worked as a teller at 1st National Bank of East Peoria from 1977 until she retired from the bank in 1995.
After retiring, Kay and Dick did some traveling, including a trip to Germany, trips for Dick’s Navy reunions, trips to Branson and Florida, and travels to California to visit their daughter.
Kay and Dick enjoyed square dancing and often would travel for square dancing conferences.
Kay was active in Tazewell County Home Extension and was the treasurer for many years. She was also active in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church Altar and Rosary, where she would help clean the church and help with funeral luncheons. She would always bring her delicious Texas sheet cake for the luncheons.
Kay and Dick moved to Brandon Wood Retirement Center in April 2017 and then to Reflections Memory Care in December 2019. Her family would like to thank the staff at Brandon Wood and Reflections, as well as Vitas Hospice.
Kay loved to bake and go for walks. She was very caring, thoughtful, generous, and kind. She will be missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton, with Msgr. Gerald Ward officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Morton.
