Survivors include four sisters: Lois Beer of Milford, IN, Erma Wieland of Peoria, Caroline Sever of Bloomington, and Dorothy Holmes of Hoopeston; three sisters-in-law: JoAnn Clauss of Cissna Park, Karen Clauss of Cissna Park, and Gloria Clauss of Loda. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews as well as many great-nieces and nephews. Lorna was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Vernon Clauss, Jerry Clauss, and Earl Clauss; and one sister: Betty Feller Zimmerman.Lorna worked many years as an administrative assistant and developed close and lasting relationships with her co-workers. She had a heart for service and in her later years was an active volunteer in a variety of settings. Lorna loved music and flowers and was an avid gardener. She loved children and will be missed by many. Lorna was an active member of the Champaign Apostolic Christian Church. Wendell Lee Verkler, 83, of Cissna Park passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at his home. He was born on January 25, 1941 in Cissna Park, a son of Elmer and Lillian (Word) Verkler. He married Donna Hari on April 11, 1963 in Cissna Park and she survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Richard (Maria) Verkler of Cissna Park and David (Maria) Verkler of Bourbonnais; one daughter, Sara (John) Houston of Paxton; six grandchildren, Samantha (David) Bougher of Lowell, IN, Melannie (Nathan) Verkler Woodward of Savoy, AJ Verkler of Bourbonnais, Lucas Verkler of Bourbonnais, Joshua Houston of Paxton, and Jeremiah Houston of Paxton; two great-grandchildren, Spencer Bougher of Lowell, IN and Quentin Bougher of Lowell, IN; three brothers, Randell (Jo) Verkler of Cissna Park, Jerry (Maren) Verkler of Clarksville, TN, and Ken (Dianne) Verkler of Bloomington; and two sisters, Wanda Cline of Cissna Park and Linda (Jim) Seidel of Cissna Park.

Wendell was owner of Verkler Construction since 1970 having built many homes and designing custom cabinetry throughout Iroquois, Kankakee, Vermilion, Ford and Champaign Counties. He earned several awards for building, including the People’s Choice Award in the Kankakee Parade of Homes. Wendell was a member of the Cissna Park Fire Department for thirty-six years. He served as a fireman, Assistance Chief, Fire Chief and Trustee/President of the Fire Protection District. He was a member of the Christian Bible Church. Wendell enjoyed gardening, canning, and puzzles. He loved family gatherings and spending time with his grandkids.

Diane is survived by her mother Ellen Mae (Wagner) Verkler, her three siblings Donna Peters, Darlene Drilling and Darrell Verkler, her three children Joseph Charles Kutz, Thomas Charles Kutz and Victoria Mae Kutz, and her grandchildren Charles Kutz and expected twins due this spring. Diane Kutz is also survived by her fiancé and companion, Bryan Hodel, who provided her joy, support, and immense love over

recent years.

Diane was born on April 25, 1963 to Charles and Ellen in Cissna Park, Illinois. Diane spoke fondly of her childhood in Cissna Park and her experiences on her grandparents’ farm. She graduated from the University of Illinois with her bachelors in Elementary Education and later with her masters in Special Education. Her life’s calling was teaching and serving others. She began her teaching career in the classrooms at Paxton and Cissna Park, and she continued her career after moving to Northern Virginia in 1991. She was immensely proud of her piano teaching business that she started in Virginia and continued to run virtually after moving back to Cissna Park. Diane had a passion for music and working with children and was a remarkable musician. She was dedicated to her piano students, and she continued giving lessons almost until the very end. She was an inspiration and mentor to many of her students, teaching them much more than just music and piano. She was also very proud of her involvement with the American Legion, playing TAPS for many military funerals. Diane was an extremely devoted mother to her three children; they were her life’s greatest treasure. She was always there to give unconditional support and love through every phase of their lives. She was also a loving grandmother (Didi); she enjoyed teaching Charles piano, singing songs, and passing on her love for Jesus.

Diane spread her vibrancy and enthusiasm for life to every situation. Her love radiated like the sun, drawing people in and captivating their hearts. Everyone who met her spoke highly of her kindness, hospitality, positive outlook, and knack for bringing joy to others. Diane truly could light up any room that she entered with her warm smile and friendly demeanor. She was a loyal and unwavering friend, always lifting up those around her. Diane was a devout Christian, dedicating much of her life to her work with the Lutheran Church. She was a woman of strong faith, giving her much strength and comfort in her sickness and battle against cancer. Diane was an extraordinary daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, partner, friend, and role model. She was the rock of her family. She was loved by many and will be missed dearly.

Mary was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Crescent City.

Ardith was born to Harry John and Mabel Bernice (Munsterman) Niebuhr on October 2, 1939 at Iroquois Memorial Hospital, Watseka, IL, baptized on November 5, 1939 and confirmed on March 29, 1953 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Milford (Woodworth) IL. She married the love of her life, Roland Heuton on October 10, 1959. Their marriage was blessed with one son, Bruce.

She is survived by her husband, Roland Henry Heuton, twin sister, Arleen (Gordon) Bohlmann, Fishersville, VA; nephews, Allen (Joy) Niebuhr of Crescent City, IL and Rev. Timothy (Sue) Bohlmann of Staunton, VA; niece, Dr. Rachel Bohlmann of South Bend, IN; great nephews and nieces, Brent (Jody) Niebuhr of Crescent City, IL, Brock (Wendy) Niebuhr of Loda, IL, Elizabeth (Josh) Hackman, Staunton, VA, Anna (Eric) Crider, Staunton, VA, Samuel Bohlmann of Staunton, VA; and Godchild, Natalie Schroeder of Watseka.

She was predeceased by her son, Bruce Henry Heuton; her parents, Harry and Mabel (Munsterman) Niebuhr; husband's parents, Henry and Dorothy Heuton; brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Velma Niebuhr.

Ardith graduated from Crescent-Iroquois High School in 1957. She was employed immediately upon graduation at Iroquois Federal Savings and Loan Association in Watseka, IL and retired January 31, 2004 having worked in all departments, focusing on lending and compliance. She dedicated her career to Iroquois Federal. She held many supervisory positions and upon her retirement, she was Senior Vice President-Corporate Secretary, Compliance and Loan Manager. Ardith was elected to the Board of Directors at Iroquois Federal on January 16, 2002 and retired from the board November 12, 2012.

Ardith was active in the community and church. She was especially proud being honored to be the first female elected President of the Watseka Area Chamber of Commerce and served two terms on the Chamber Board, first female chairman of St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Crescent City, IL, and also served as Treasurer for 2 years and the first female elected to the Board of Directors of Iroquois Federal.

Ardith was also active in the IMH Development Council and served as Co-Chair along with her husband, Roland, board member of Sugar Creek Symphony and Song, The American Cancer Society of Relay for Life of Iroquois County, and served as Treasurer and Chair of the Survivors committee, and volunteered as receptionist at IMH Lab. In 2023, she and Roland received the Watseka Times Republic Lifetime Achievement Award, in appreciation of their lifetime commitment to the Watseka Community and its people.

Ardith dedicated her life to her husband, Roland and son, Bruce being active and supporting her community and her employer, Iroquois Federal.

Ardith and Roland enjoyed traveling, having been fortunate to travel to Niagara Falls (honeymoon), Alaskan Inside Passage Cruise, Hawaii, Japan, Hong Kong, China, Rhine River Cruise, which included Amsterdam, the Passion Play 2010 Oberammergau, Switzerland, Cuba (the first year it was opened up to the United States), Alaska by land, African Safari, Canadian Rockies, Northwestern National Parks, Eastern fall tour, Portugal-The Douro River Valley, and Barcelona, Spain.

Ardith and Roland also enjoyed attending grade and high school basketball, volleyball, softball, baseball, football, Illini Volleyball, attending theatre productions, riding bicycle (having ridden 100 miles in Iroquois County in one day), walking, and playing cards with friends.

Funeral service will be held at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Crescent City, IL on Friday, February 23, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Joel Brown and Rev. Timothy Bohlmann officiating. Burial will immediately follow the funeral service at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery in Crescent City.

Edgar was born on the family centennial farm in Ash Grove Township on Sept. 27, 1927. He was the second son of August and Dora (Koester) Teske.He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Adeline Teske, brothers Bill (Roselyn)Teske, Ralph Teske, and Orville (Joan) Teske.He is survived by sister-in-law Carolyn Teske of Cissna Park and eight nieces and nephews: Jerry (Cindy) Teske, Patti Golden, Wendy (Ross) Norris all of Florida; Ralph Teske and Jennifer (Ken) Wilson of Illinois; Nicholas (Amy) Teske and Karen (Eric) Blue of Georgia; Michael (Sevda) Teske presently in Nigeria.
