Francis J. Maturo - June 03, 1939 - May 02, 2024

Departed: 05/02/2024 (Glenolden)
Obituary Preview: Francis (Frank) J. Maturo, 84 of Swarthmore, passed peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, May 2, 2024. Born in South Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Vito V. and
the late Eleanor M. (DiPietro) Maturo. Frank retired from Oscar Mayer after 25 years of employment. After retirement, he worked for the Ridley School District. He served in the Army National Guard. Not a stranger to hard work,
Frank also worked a part time job at Globe Security for the Philadelphia School District. Frank was an avid reader, enjoyed classic movies, especially military topics. He loved to dance, draw, paint, write poetry, AND he absolutely loved his chocolate! Frank loved all creatures large and small from the deer in his daughter’s backyard, to the birds he could watch from his back porch. When the squirrels stole the bird seed, he attempted to ward them off by greasing the bird feeder pole. We are not certain if he started the pole greasing or if it was always a Philly
thing! He loved his dog Rosy and his cat Ruby. He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years Shirley S. (Burke) Maturo; his loving daughter and caretaker, Lisa Krol (Rich); stepson, Jim Huston; and granddaughter Jackie Krol. He is also survived by his four brothers, Louis J. Maturo (Diane), Vito Maturo (Carol), Robert Maturo (the Late Antoinette), and Joseph Maturo (Janice); and his sister, Cynthia Maturo and many nieces and nephews. Nothing was more important to Frank than the love of his family that he always
put first. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 7, 2024, 10am-11:00am, at the Kevin Lyons & The Marvil Family Funeral Service, 202 South Chester Pike, Glenolden, PA, followed by a Graveside Service at
Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery that will begin at 11:45am.
