Beverly Fitzsimmons - February 20, 1935 - February 12, 2022

Departed: 02/12/2022 (Forest City)
Obituary Preview: Beverly Jean Fitzsimmons, 86, of Browndale, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 12, 2022 after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph F. Fitzsimmons and their infant son David.
Beverly is survived by her sons, Joseph (Suzanne) of Waverly, PA, Patrick (Laurie), Friendsville, PA, Jeffrey, Waymart, PA., Daniel (Patricia), Browndale, PA. and daughter-in-law Kathe Fitzsimmons, Endicott NY. She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren that she loved very much.
Born in Utica NY, she met the love of her life, Joseph, in 1955 as they both worked for Utica Mutual Ins. Co. They were married 1 year later and in 1957 they welcomed the first of what would literally be a handful of bouncing baby boys. Over the next 15+ years Bev would become a devoted stay-at-home mom, handling all of the duties required to keep her family of very active boys well fed, and all manners of play and athletic clothing and gear ready for practices, games and activities that ranged from basketball, baseball, soccer, hunting, and fishing.
In the mid-70’s she re-entered the work force and her ensuing career covered many disciplines. Bev was equally as efficient with operating a sewing machine at one of the local garment facilities or military equipment suppliers to working in the cafeteria at the FCRHS and IBM Endicott NY. Bev was very proud of her boy’s following in their father’s footsteps by serving in the US Navy. And as a result of that service and the resulting stories, her vocabulary dramatically increased over the years.
In 1999 Bev traded in her official working sneakers and began what she would call the most rewarding years of her life, baby-sitting her grand-daughter Alexandra. The next decade was spent teaching Alex the proper (Bev) way to cook, clean, do laundry, shovel snow, mow grass, plant flowers and fold clothes. Being a fiercely independent woman, Bev was always one to do things herself. Whether it be her daily trips to town, mowing the grass, getting groceries, shoveling snow or simply heading down the line to shop, nothing was too big of an obstacle to get in her way.
She loved watching Sunday afternoon NASCAR races or just sitting at her kitchen counter and talking with family and friends. Her marathon phone calls were legendary and worthy of consideration for the Guinness Book World Records for their length. When visiting, it was virtually impossible to leave without some sort of container or meticulously wrapped bag containing some of her delicious cookies or pies. Delicacies that her boys would often try to hide for each other, only to be caught and then shamed into sharing. And yes, they were that good. Her boys would often say, you never have to worry about mom until she stopped doing things. Sadly, over the recent holidays, this became a reality. As we look back, we do so with huge smiles.
Bev’s life was not what many would describe as being easy, because it wasn’t. Instead, her life can be better described as “Full”. So full of life and so full of love. Full of life’s ups and downs. But she never looked back and instead, lived life to the fullest with her family at her side. She will be sadly missed, but never, ever forgotten. In keeping with Bev’s wishes, a private ceremony will be held to celebrate her life.
The Fitzsimmons family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the wonderful nurses and care-givers at Traditional Hospice for the help and support.

Donald P. Teague - May 17, 1930 - January 18, 2022

Departed: 01/18/2022 (Forest City)
Obituary Preview: Donald Paul Teague, of Forest City, passed away Tuesday, January 18th, 2022. He was 91 years old. Donny was a longtime resident of his beloved town of Forest City, Pennsylvania. He was born and raised in the town known as "A Mile of Hospitality". Upon graduation from Forest City High School, he entered the Navy and served his country for twenty years, earning the rank of Senior Chief. He was a communications engineer while in the service which lent itself well to his third pastime of servicing and repairing, electronic and pipe organs. It was a rare skill and Donny was good at it. His second pastime, believe it or not, was riding on roller coasters. He was a gentle and simple man, but he was a dare devil when it came to the coasters. He would travel the country to ride the biggest and scariest roller coasters that were ever built. And of course, if you knew Donny, he would log every mile and minute detail of the experience. Between 2001 and 2011 he visited 111 parks and rode over 1,100 coasters.
Along with the ability to fix anything, and being a roller coaster groupie, his favorite pastime was running. It was not uncommon, no matter the weather conditions, to see Donny on the streets and local roads of his beloved town, running. He was simply passionate about logging miles, competing in marathons, and road races, and keeping meticulous records of his journeys. He had numerous trophies and medals that he would proudly display and he was proud of each and every one of them. But the most astonishing thing about Donny was his ability to give back and help others. Whether it be doing errands for a neighbor or driving someone to an appointment, Donny was there on time with a smile and a corny joke. His giving back was most evident in his association with the Forest City Cross Country and Track teams. He was the statistician and time keeper (and adopted Coach) for the team. One of his many contributions for the team was personally compiling a seasonal booklet for each and every runner. In this booklet would be the details of every race along with the competitors time, position and pace of all runners. It was an extensive undertaking that Donny did because he loved the sport, but more importantly, he loved the kids. Not only was he the timer at Forest City's meets, but also at countless invitationals, road races (including the Forest City Coal Cracker) and district meets.
He was so dedicated to his craft, that Bucknell University asked him to be their official timer for indoor track meets. Also, he would run with the kids at practice and he would always be the last one home. He wanted to make sure that everyone got home safely and it never mattered how long it took. This was the kind of man Donny was. He was a gentle, sensitive, simple, and kind man who made a lasting impression on all he met. Now, at home in heaven, but forever in our hearts.
He is survived by friends including Edgar and Nancy Osburn, Scott Twp.
He is also preceded in death by his mother ClaraTeague; and his aunt Loretta Barlett.
Based on Donny's wishes there will be no viewing, but a Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday January 22, 2022 at 10am in St. Joseph's Church, Forest City. Interment in St. Agnes Cemetery. Masks are requested. Memorial Contributions can be made in Donny's name to the Forest City Cross Country Team.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the deceased person's name, age, date of birth and death, cause of death (optional), occupation, hobbies, achievements, and surviving family members.
