Obituary Preview: JoAnn was born to the late Edna Smith-Sanders and Joe Sanders on October 14, 1949 in Union South Carolina. From this union, six children were born. Siblings: Gunzella, Teressa, Rhonda, Veronica, and Reginald; Daughter: Melodie Abram; Nieces: Tameco Betts and Chimere Sanders; Nephew: Arnold Lee Clark, Jr., all preceded her in death.
JoAnn moved to Michigan at a young age and settled in Ecorse, Michigan after a short stay in River Rouge, Michigan. She graduated from Ecorse High School in 1968. JoAnn found Christ at a young age. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was baptized. Her favorite scriptures were Psalm 90, Psalm 91; and Psalm 92.
JoAnn worked as a Program Director Assistant and school bus driver for Ecorse and River Rouge Head-Start Programs, Wayne Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA) for over thirty years before retiring. She loved listening to music, receiving all varieties of flowers, and spending time and special occasions with her family and friends.
JoAnn is survived by Daughter: Dr. Monica Wiggins; Grand-Daughters: Camery Abram, Alaris Wiggins, Chloe’ Abram, and Auriell Wiggins; Niece: Sharika Woodmore; Great-Nieces: Sharika Sanders, Damiah Woodmore, Dametra Woodmore, and Chimere Clark; Great-Nephews: Darrell Betts, Jr., Jashon Green, Arnold Lee Clark, III, and Damian Woodmore, Jr.; Great-Great-Nieces: Ca’Leea Sanders, and Serenity Demand; Great-Great-Nephew: David Demand, Jr.

August 26,1944, God smiled upon the late Lafayette Sr., and Melvina Jackson, and blessed them with a baby girl, whom they named Alice Burnette.
Alice attended Northrup Elementary, and River Rouge High School, graduating June 1963.
Alice was baptized at the Union Second Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev E C Copeland. As a young woman, Alice then decided to move her membership and follow her Great Uncle, the late Rev George A Brazill, to the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, and her final move to Pentecostal Missionary Baptist Church.
Alice was married to Clifton Marsh, Sr. They were blessed with five children, three of which preceded her in death, Del Anderson Marsh, Clifton Laron Marsh, Jr., and Cheri Lucile Marsh.
Alice retired from the River Rouge School District's Lunch Program as a Chef/Cook. Alice was very active with the Senior Citizens
Activity Program, under Directress, Mrs. Olive Roberts.
Alice greatest passion, first, was her love for our Heavenly Father, second, her unconditional love for her family,(near and far). Alice would walk to a family member's home and assist in whatever capacity needed.
Alice made sure prayer was a necessity, always giving words of encouragement,(especially to our younger generation), and never be afraid to give back.
Friday, April 12, 2024, Alice was presented her Angel Wings, in her daughter's arms. Alice was awarded the "Good And Faithful Servant", "Job Well Done", award.
Alice the legacy you leave to be remembered and forever cherished, one Son, Leland Forest Marsh, one daughter, Cheri Lynn Marsh-Miller, one Sister, Freda Rockymore. one Brother-in-law, James Hamer. 17 Grannies Babies, Kristian, Kristopher, David, Kennedi, Clifton III, Claudia, Octavia, Marcellus, Timothy, Santinio(deceased), Nakiya, Ayanna, Talia, Tamia(deceased),Eric, Daisy Alice, and Tyda. 15 Great Grannies Babies, three of whom she began raising, Nakien Ontiveroz, Beautiful Ontiveroz, and Camille Ontiveroz. 1 Uncle and Aunt, Lamar and Joyce Gray. 3 special cousins, Bertha White, Thomasina Johnson, and Mary Henderson. 2 special girlfriends, Sis Audrey Hampton, and Mrs. Annabelle Johns, her Pastor and his wife, Rev. & Mrs. Arthur C Willis, Sr., and her Pentecost Church Family. Alice also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Welcoming Alice into her new Heavenly Home, are her parents, Lafayette, Sr. & Melvina Jackson, her children, Del, Clifton, Jr., and Cheri Lucile Marsh. Grandparents, Blanch, and Julia Gray. Born on May 15, 1944 in Glasgow, Scotland, Jack was a proud Scotsman who enjoyed his football (soccer) and darts in his youth. In 1984, he immigrated to America with his family, settling in Detroit. For 25 years, Jack worked as a dedicated custodian in downtown Detroit.
A passionate sports fan, Jack cheered on his hometown club, Glasgow Celtic, and embraced his adopted city's team, the Detroit Red Wings. When he wasn't following sports, Jack enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia and autographs.
Jack's greatest pride was his family. He cherished spending time with his granddaughter, Audra, and actively participated in her school activities.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Emily; sons, Kevin and Peter; granddaughter, Audra; and sister, Sylvia (residing in Scotland). He was predeceased by his son, John.

Obituary Preview: It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marco Tony Vazquez, who left us peacefully on February 29, 2024. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend to so many.
Tony was born on May 6, 1972, in Jalisco, Mexico. He was a kind and compassionate soul who always put his family before himself. He will forever be known for being one of the hardest working man who set an example of what a man should be. He lived life to the fullest no matter what he faced. He will forever be a reminder to all his loved ones of how to live life and value what matters most.
Tony was a devoted husband to his wife Lucia and a loving father to his four children, Marc (Tomasa), Carolina, Diego, and Paulina, and Grandfather to his Cruzito. He was a pillar of strength and support for his family, always there to lend a helping hand or a listening ear.
Tony will be deeply missed by his siblings, extended family, and friends. He touched the lives of all who knew him with his infectious smile, warm personality, and generous spirit. Tony’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. He will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his sense of humor, and his ability to bring joy to those around him in every season of his life.
A celebration of Tony’s life will be held on March 4, 2024, at The Road Church in Allen Park and on March 5, 2024 at Saint Hedwig in Detroit.
Rest in peace, Tony. You will be forever missed and never forgotten.

Roger Dale Johnson - April 11, 1956 - January 18, 2024

Obituary Preview: Roger Johnson, age 67 of SW Detroit, passed away January 18th, 2023.  Beloved husband of 50 years to Loretta Johnson.  Roger was a hard working and funny man.  He started working at the age of 14 to provide for himself. Three days after his 18th birthday, Roger landed a job at Ford Motor Company, which allowed him to raise and provide for his wife and three daughters, Christy (Chuck The Duck) Talley, late Donna (Late Manuel Lara), and Melissa (Jason) McMahon.  Roger was the dear brother of 7 siblings, many nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins.  He was a proud grandfather of 15 and great grandfather of many.  Roger stepped up in 1992 to raise his first granddaughter, Rebecca Johnson.  He was a kind loving grandfather but when he became a great grandfather his world changed.  Roger loved cars and fishing.  He owned a fire red 1940 Ford F-100 which he was proud to own since he retired from Ford Motor after 30 years.  Roger sang and danced his way through life.  Roger loved dressing up and going to many events.

He is preceded in death by his father, Uriel Jones, step-father, Harold Thomas and his brother, Uriel Kourtney Jones.
Gary was a fan of old western movies.  He enjoyed R & B and Jazz and was a very good dancer. Gary on occasion attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses where he enjoyed worship.
He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
