Connie Mae Miller was born on February 8, 1939, in Collierville, Tennessee. She was the third child of Idella (née Watson) and Dennis Williams.

Connie's early years were spent in the embrace of her large family, counting seven siblings as her partners in adventure and companionship. Two brothers, Jacob and Robert, and two sisters, Lorraine and Icy Bell, preceded her in death. Her faith in Christ bloomed early, leading to her baptism at Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church, where her spiritual foundation was nurtured.

In 1955, Connie married Eddie Lee Miller, embarking on a journey that spanned 60 years until Eddie's passing. In 1967, driven by dreams of a brighter future, Connie and Eddie ventured from the rural south to Detroit, Michigan where they lovingly raised five children: Donald, Barbara, Lowanda, Marvin (preceded in death), and Clarence.

A dedicated wife and mother, Connie was the cornerstone of her household. She worked inside the home until her youngest child's start in school after which she took a job at Fred Sanders' Bakery where she remained until her well-deserved retirement.

Connie's culinary talents were legendary among her friends and family. From soulful feasts to delectable sweets, her creations were a testament to the love she poured into her cooking. Her warm words, "I love to cook as long as people are here to enjoy it," captured her giving spirit. No guest ever left her home with an empty stomach.

Her creativity extended beyond the kitchen. Connie crafted hand-sewn quilts that became cherished heirlooms for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In moments of leisure, she found joy in puzzles and painting. Connie also had a profound appreciation for nature's beauty, nurturing vibrant flower gardens at her home.

A survivor of breast cancer, Connie's strength and resilience were an inspiration to those around her. Her radiant smile, characterized by a charming gap inherited from her father, Dennis, remains etched in the memories of all who knew her well.

After battling her most recent illness with courage and grace, Connie passed away peacefully in the embrace of sleep, in the comfort of her home. Her legacy lives on through the memories shared by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Connie leaves an enduring legacy through her children: Donald, Barbara (Jerome), Lowanda, and Clarence. She is also warmly remembered by her siblings Linda Faye (Dean), Kenneth, and Doretha, along with 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren all of whom carry a piece of her love in their hearts.

Obituary Preview: Debra Levenia Carr (Debbie) was born August 22, 1953, in Detroit Michigan at Harper Hospital to Grant Carr Jr. and Georgia L. Carr (Williamson). She graduated from Pershing High School in the Detroit Public School System in 1971.

Debbie accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. Prior to an illness she was an active member of Perfecting Church, pastored by Marvin L. Winans, she served in the Overcomer’s Department, providing recovery outreach services.

She inherited her love of traveling and spending money (junking) from her mother. She wholeheartedly loved her family and friends, especially her sons and her granddaughters.

In 2008, Debbie retired from the State of Michigan after 35 years of service. She worked for the Michigan Employment Securities Commission (MESC) for 17 years, Northville Psychiatric Hospital for 13 years, and she returned to the unemployment Agency under the Department of Labor for five years.

Debbie loved reading and watching classic television shows. She had impressive collections of John Wayne movies and romance novels. Debbie always had at least one romance novel in her purse. Debbie was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Grant Carr III. To cherish her loving memory, Debbie leaves her children: Derrick (Lakeeta) Carr and Christopher (Danielle) Carr; seven granddaughters: Keliah Davis, Ciara Carr, Kendall Carr, Kirsten Carr, Laurynn Carr, Savannah Carr, and Charlotte Carr; one great grandson, Khaleel Davis; two sisters, Kelcey (Lonzel) Mitchell and Felicia Walton; one nephew Grant Carr IV; Sandra Willhite – her dear friend for 30 years; and a host of cousins, extended family members, and friends 2 Timothy 4:78

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
