Obituary Preview: On August 1, 2022, Mark Anthony Greathouse passed away at the age of 55. Mark was born on March 20, 1967, in Detroit, Michigan, to Willie Lee Greathouse, Sr., and Lillian Louise (Swain) Greathouse. Mark dedicated his life to Christ and was baptized at an early age at St. Marys Catholic Church, where he served as an altar boy. Mark was an athletic child who had a great gift for playing basketball and dreamt of going to the NBA. Throughout his childhood, Mark was known for his great dancing and roller skating skills. Mark was also an accomplished tennis player and participated in tournaments throughout his childhood. Mark attended elementary school at St. Marys of Redford and attended high school at Redford High School and in Austin, Texas. Mark was a barber who worked at Greathouse Hair Center, Urban Renaissance, and most recently, Salon 813. On May 13, 2005, he married Laura Frey, and they had two daughters together. Mark had five children, Duane (Christy) Greathouse, DeMarco Gibbs, Mariah Greathouse, Mariana Greathouse, and Liliana Greathouse.Mark always credited his father with instilling an early expectation to read the Bible and understand scripture. Mark could reference the Bible in almost any situation. One of Marks greatest gifts was his testimony, which he shared with anyone he could. His barber chair was his marketplace ministry. Several churches invited Mark to speak at Sunday services and mens ministries. Mark started his own mens ministry out of Greathouse Hair Center. Brothers in Christ offered a safe place for many men to connect or reconnect with God. Mark knew and loved the Lord God and was gifted with prophetic abilities.Mark had an outgoing, charismatic personality, was not afraid to talk to anyone, and made friends everywhere he went. One of his favorite things was reaching out to people on the phone. He thrived on connecting with people. He was always trying to learn new things and possessed a natural curiosity. Mark was an avid shoe collector, loved fashion, and dressing well. He will be greatly missed by all he touched.Mark was preceded in death by his brother, Willie Lee Greathouse, Jr. He leaves to cherish his memories his mother and father, Louise and Jesse Petway, II, his father, Willie Greathouse, Sr., his wife and children, seven grandchildren, Alani, Kingsley, Samariah, Christiana, Syaire, Arie, DeKarri, brothers Lamar Williams and J. Jerhome Petway, two nephews, Oscar and Gavaghan, and two nieces, Briannica and Carmen.Mark will be buried at Holy Sepulcher Catholic Cemetery next to his brother. HE WILL TRULY BE MISSED BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN

Obituary Preview: Mrs. Lucille Marie Morris gently transitioned on June 10, 2022. The family wishes to thank all who have reached out with loving words of encouragement. Sweet Lucy was born Lucille Marie Morris (ne Gant) to Grace and Jack Gant. She was the sister of Barbara, Leonard, and Joyce. All four siblings were born and raised in a small, segregated town called Centralia, Illinois. Lucille was always brilliant. After completing her secondary education at Centralia High, she received a scholarship to Illinois University, but declined out of concern for her safety. She instead moved to Detroit, Michigan to live with her Aunt Letha to begin her career. After settling in Detroit, she married Arthur Lee Edge in 1955. Their marriage lasted 13 years and they had two children together: Arthur Leon II and Charlene Marie. In 1972, she married Ward Morris, bringing Little Ward into the family.Lucille was forever filled with ambition and a drive for business. After several years working in accounting she started an accounting business. In 1977, she became the first Black woman in Michigan to start a manufacturing company, which she called Tektron Industries, Ltd.After retiring, she moved to Albuquerque, NM. She later returned to Michigan via Battle Creek, then finally settled in Southfield where she passed away peacefully at home with family.Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Barbara (Orlando) Young and Leonard Earl Gant, and partners Arthur Edge and Ward Morris. Lucille leaves to cherish her memory her sister Joyce (Edward) Sampson, her children Arthur Leon (Tina) Edge and Charlene (Henry) Gordon, and Ward (Cheri) Morris, and grandchildren Arthur, Alexis, Gabrielle, Graca, Rachel, Richard and Matthew. She will be remembered by many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends and family.Lucille Morris' family would like to thank everyone for their kind expressions of sympathy, as well as Kemp Funeral Home of Southfield for their exemplary services. Esther was the 11th child born into a family of sixteen children. She spent her childhood growing up in Grindstone, Pennsylvania where she attended Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Throughout her childhood she was an active member in church plays and sang in the choir. She excelled in school and attended Redstone Elementary, Madison Elementary, Brownsville Jr. High, and Brownsville Sr. High Schools where she graduated in 1952.After graduating from High School, Esther moved to New York City where she worked in a jewelry factory. She lived with her older sisters Viola and Frances, as well as her Uncle Joe and Aunt May. A year later her childhood sweetheart, Rufus Donald Johnson arrived in New York City and swooped her off her feet. They were married April 10,1954 and moved to New Jersey. A few years later they welcomed their first son, Donald.After moving to Detroit in the 60s, three more children were born to their union; Denise, Kevin and Mark. In 1964 the family purchased their first home on Cheyenne Street. Esther became “the mother” of the neighborhood. Her family and childrens friends often stopped by to just talk with Esther. Guests were always welcomed and often dined with the family. Everyone loved her cooking, especially her famous macaroni and cheese and her homemade apple pie. Esther and Rufus opened their home to siblings and other relatives when they moved to Detroit and gained employment. Esther enjoyed bowling, playing bingo and Pokeno with her friends, and playing cards and board games with her family. Esthers beautiful qualities were her kind spirit, warm smile, her nurturing love and care.While volunteering at her youngest sons pre-school, she developed a passion for working with children and decided to enroll in college to earn a degree. Esther excelled but circumstances arose, and she was unable to complete her degree in the last year. Esther worked at Barat Human Services, League of Catholic Women Home for Girls. She worked through the ranks and became a supervisor. She received many accolades for her service before her retirement.After Rufus retirement from General Motors, Esther and Rufus relocated to Fruitland Park, Florida in 1998, where they built their dream home. Their Fruitland Park home was known as the “Johnson Hotel” as family and friends visited the Walt Disney resort. Esther was an active member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church. She opened her home to her grandsons; Dante and Darnell, who lived with them for several years as they became young men. The grandsons still reside in Florida with their families.In 2019 when Esther and Rufus health began to decline, they returned to Michigan to be with their children and grandchildren. They were welcomed back to Detroit with a 63rd Wedding Anniversary Party hosted by their children. Esther stayed strong in her faith and was a member of Canton Christian Fellowship, in Canton, Michigan. Esther happily celebrated her last 88th Birthday with her family and friends. Esther was predeceased by her parents, her husband ; siblingsShe leaves her cherished memories with her children; Her sister ; sister-in-laws . Grandchildren; ; great grandchildren; .
