Obituary Preview: Francis J. Franek, 90, better known as Frank or Pappy, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024. He married Amelia Bonfiglio in 1955 and remained married for 62 years until her death in February 2017. Frank was born in Clarence, PA on July 6, 1933, and was the son of Joseph and Agnes Franek.
Frank was a warm and loving father devoted to his wife and family. As a young man he served in the Army during the Korean War. He was known for his hard work, determination and honesty. At the age of 36 he created his own company, Franek Home Builders. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and spending time with family, making lengthy trips to visit them.
He is survived by his children, Andrea Camp (Randall), Lynne Franek-Costet and children Jonathan and Julia Anne, Frank Franek (Angie) and son Thomas, Tina Leon and daughters, Katherine Stewart (Ryan) and Elizabeth Hutto, Angela Franek-Tupper (Hollis) and daughter Emilie, and Rob Franek (Kathleen) and children Rachel and Adam. He is also blessed with two great granddaughters, Gianna and Kylee, children of Katherine and Ryan. Frank was predeceased by his brothers Joseph and Robert, and his sister Doris. He is also survived by his brothers John, Andrew, David and his sister Celia.
Frank was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Montoursville, PA.
A Memorial Mass will be co-celebrated on May 11, 2024 at 12:00 pm at Queen of Archangels Roman Catholic Church, 102 Church Street, Clarence, PA, by Father Michael S. Grove, 89, of Jersey Shore, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2024 at Geisinger in Danville. Born December 7, 1934 in Williamsport, she was a daughter to the late Walter Fleeger and the former Helen Pasnault. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Grove on June 14, 2020, they were united in marriage on March 3, 1951.
Shirley was a member of the Newberry Church of Christ and loved spending time with her loving family. She was an avid seamstress, enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and gardening.
She is survived by her daughters, Michelle A. (Jed) Paulhamus of Jersey Shore, Connie L. (Dennis) Breen of Williamsport and Georgia A. Grove of Williamsport; two sons, Walter A. (Kathy) Grove of Montoursville and Kelly A. Grove of Linden; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jane Shirey of Harrisburg.
A life celebration will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2024 at the Newberry Church of Christ, 2101 Linn St., Williamsport.

Obituary Preview: Carol Ann Dieffenbach, 84, of Montoursville passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Valley View Rehab and Nursing Center. Her husband Roger A. Dieffenbach passed away September 2019 having celebrated 56 years together.
Carol was born on February 9, 1940 in Philadelphia, PA and was the daughter of Rev. Ralph and Myrtie Miltenberger Hartzell.
She was a 1958 graduate of South Williamsport High School and a 1962 graduate of Bloomsburg University with a Bachelors in Education. Carol retired in 1999 after 33 years teaching at Cochran Elementary School. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and Xi Epsilon Tau. Carol enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, reading, baking, and word search books.
She is survived by two daughters, Drueann (Brian) Yount, Murfreesboro, TN and Beth (Sam) Jordan, Duboistown; one brother, John (Ellie) Hartzell; six grandchildren, Rebecca (Doug) Packard, Mariah (Mike) Simon, Megan (Aaron) Testa, Erin Kudlik, Hailey Kudlik, Nicole Goodreau; seven great grandchildren, Kayden, Bradley, Cole, A.J., Elizabeth, Gabriella, and Junior.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled in May.

He was a graduate of Montoursville High School. Following high school, he served his country in the US Army. Chris had been employed by Heidelberg Materials, Aggregates (formally Hanson and Silica Sand) Montoursville. Christopher enjoyed playing on his computer.
He is survived by his mother, Margery Hiller of Trout Run: two brothers, Brian Marks and William (Linda) Marks both of Trout Run; and a stepbrother Todd (Heather) Hiller of Wellsboro.

He is survived by one son, Dave (Karen) Demmien of Cogan Station; one daughter, Bonnie (Doug Barletta) Demmien of Williamsport; four grandchildren, Michelle (Josh) Bahr, Jennifer (Russell) Powers, Alan (Katie Remsnyder) Smith, Marisa (Ray) Ocker; six great grandchildren, Lauren Bahr, Ryan Bahr and Meghan Alverez, Remmy Smith, Lexi Liedhecker, Eva Liedhecker. He was predeceased by a sister Shirley Bossert.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Kaufman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2102 Northway Rd., Williamsport with Pastor Steve Halstead of Third Street Church officiating. Burial will be in Montoursville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m.

Lesly A. Barnhart - December 24, 1954 - February 09, 2024

Obituary Preview: Lesly A. Barnhart, 69, of Williamsport, peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior February 9, 2024 surrounded by loved ones at home. He fought a very courageous battle with glioblastoma brain cancer. He lived each day as it came, never questioning or complaining.
Born December 24, 1954, he was the eldest son of the late Eugene A. Barnhart and Carolyn W. (Clark) Barnhart Blain. Les was married to his beloved wife Lou Anne (Huff) on July 7, 2012. He was a 1973 graduate of Montgomery Area High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Brigham Young University. Prior to college he lived two years in Ecuador as a missionary. Les was employed in customer service and management positions at several companies during his lifetime: Data Papers, Inc., Pillings FRP, SEDA CoG, Cromaglass Corporation and BiLo Plumbing. He was most known as the general manager of Cinema Center in downtown Williamsport.
Les grew up on a small farm in Montgomery with his parents and five brothers. He was a Boy Scout leader, troop 419, in Selinsgrove where all four sons earned the Eagle Scout award. He was a member of First Church, Williamsport. He attended Bible Study Fellowship for years where his faith in Christ truly thrived. He had been a group leader at BSF prior to his illness. Les was fluent in Spanish. He enjoyed all physical activities: running, working out, biking, tennis, ice skating, and skiing. He and Lou Anne loved kayaking and had many wonderful adventures. One of his greatest passions was ballroom dancing, which was how he and Lou Anne met once again, since during their childhood their parents were close friends.
He is survived by his dedicated wife, Lou Anne Barnhart; his children, Nathan (Meg) Barnhart, Celebration, FL; Ryan Barnhart, New Cumberland, PA; Timothy (Tracy) Barnhart, Cambridge, MA; Ellen Barnhart, Ireland; Samantha Barnhart, England; and Clark Barnhart, Cambridge, MA. Grandchildren, Wren and Graham Barnhart, Celebration, FL; Kalia Barnhart, Cambridge, MA. Stepchildren, Megan Bloom, Williamsport, PA; Kevin (Krista) Bloom, Williamsport, PA. Step-granddaughters Daisy and Violet Bloom, Williamsport, PA. Brothers, James (Francine) Barnhart, Montgomery, PA; Thomas (JoAnn) Barnhart, Montgomery, PA; Andrew Barnhart, Montgomery, PA; Benjamin (Robin) Barnhart, Lenore TN; John (Shelley) Barnhart, Altavista, VA. Many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 16, 2024 in First Church, Williamsport, 604 Market St., Williamsport, with Pastor Rick Walters officiating. Burial will be private in Brick Church Cemetery, Montgomery. Visitation will be held on Friday at the church from 10 to 11 a.m.

Robert L. Pierce - December 07, 1942 - January 11, 2024

Obituary Preview: It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert L. Pierce at the age of 81 on January 11, 2024 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Robert was born to Edward and Florence Pierce on December 7, 1942 in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania.
He is survived by Mary Jane, his wife of 56 years, daughters Kristin (Hugh) Johnson and Carey (Mark) Stiller, all of Williamsport, PA, his sister Mary Ellen Bell of Allentown, and three grandsons Brendan Jesus, Christopher Stiller, and Zachary Stiller, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers William and Richard, and a baby daughter Erica.
Bob grew up in Bellefonte, where he attended local schools, and graduated in 1961. He was very active in sports, particularly the wrestling program during his high school years. He continued his education at Bloomsburg University, where he was also in the wrestling program.
After graduation from college in 1965, he attended Officer Candidate School in Rhode Island. Upon completing his training , he was stationed in Washington, D.C. then transferred to Norfolk, Virginia, where he obtained the rank of Lieutenant and navigated the USS Douglas H. Fox, a destroyer, to and from Vietnam in 1969.
After discharge from the Navy, he became employed by Liberty Mutual Insurance Co., in Williamsport. Transferred by Liberty to New Castle, PA, he continued in the Navy Reserves, and eventually was transferred back to Williamsport, where he spent the remainder of his career in Underwriting.
Bob was active with his girls, managing the Loyalsock Township Band pizza stand for five years, and traveling with the Lancer band to Ireland in 1985. He attended many band concerts, basketball games, and track meets during that time! He was an active bowler and pinochle player for years, as well as a lifelong lover of animals. In 1994, he became a grandfather for the first time, acquiring two more grandsons when his daughter Carey remarried, and spent hours playing and getting into trouble with them!
He was known for purchasing and taking carnations around to the widows in the neighborhood on special holidays, or just giving a flower to someone he thought needed one. In latter years, he spent time at the gym chatting, and sometimes working out! He enjoyed watching old films of World War I and II, was up to date on politics, and did not hesitate to share his political opinions!
The last year and a half he resided at a care facility where he enjoyed the activities, especially Bingo! His family visited daily, and his friends and staff there will surely miss him.
He was a member of Faxon-Kenmar United Methodist Church. Family suggests memorial contributions in Robert’s name be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306 or St. Jude's, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Donna L. Decker - February 26, 1940 - January 10, 2024

Obituary Preview: Donna L. Decker, 83 of Williamsport passed away Wednesday Jan. 10th, 2024 at UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport.
Born Feb.26, 1940. A daughter of the late Donald and Anna (Loner) Folmar. Donna was a student of St. Joseph’s Catholic School and has been a lifetime member of St. Joseph The Worker (formerly Annunciation Church).
After school she was employed at Divine Providence Hospital as a nurse’s aide. She later became the bookkeeper for her father at Folmar Welding.
On June 17th, 1955 Donna married the love of her life, high school sweetheart, and best friend Jack W. Decker Sr. They were married over 50 years at his passing.
Donna and Jack were the owners of their family business Trojan Tube Sales & Fabrication Inc., where she worked as the chief financial officer until her passing. Her Loving and Giving personality was seen by everyone she met. Throughout her lifetime she was a passionate philanthropist, giving generously to the community. She donated yearly to many businesses and organizations. Some of her favorites were Toys for Tots, Williamsport food bank, and St. Judes. She had the heart of an angel and didn’t hesitate to help anyone in need.
Donna was a member of the Williamsport Country Club and loved playing golf with her husband, son and friends. She was very active in the Women’s Golf League and held every position except President over the years. She enjoyed going on golf trips with her husband and other couples to many major golf courses. She liked to crochet, do jigsaw puzzles, bowl, read mystery books and spend time with her family.
Surviving are her two children whom she loved dearly, Jack Jr (Wendy) Decker and Lora (Dennis) Bunce both of Williamsport; three grandchildren, Justin and Kristin Decker, Chaz Bunce; three great-grandchildren, Noah, Eliana and Jonah, whom she adored; a brother Jim Folmar of Montoursville, and two sisters Patricia Lusk of Williamsport and Judith (Tom) Berrigan of Lemoyne.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Jack W. Decker Sr. and two sisters; Gloria Kephart of Nevada and Marylou Marshall of Florida.
A visitation to honor Donna’s life will be help 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan 18, 2024, at Kaufman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2102 Northway Road, Williamsport.

She died peacefully at home in hospice care, surrounded by family and friends, after a year-long struggle with cancer. Denise and her husband were married May 11, 1986, and celebrated 38 years together.
She was born on February 20, 1956, and was a daughter of Fred and Lois Pandolfi (nee Michael) who preceded her in death.
She was a graduate of Williamsport High School and Pennsylvania College of Technology. She worked for 44 years as a manger in the imaging department of what is now the UPMC system. A person of deep faith, she was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Montoursville. She loved to spend time with her family. Denise enjoyed reading, traveling, and dancing. She was a bright light in the world.
Denise is survived by her husband, Richard Clark (Montoursville, PA), brother Gary Pandolfi and sister-in-law Chris (Cogan Station, PA), sister, Sherry Pandolfi (Harrisonburg, VA), sister-in-law Vicki and Joel Case (Lock Haven, PA), Thomas & Joyce Clark (father and mother-in-law (Milton, PA), son John Jeirles, III and daughter-in-law Jamie Marshall (Williamsport, PA), son Matthew Clark (Hughesville, PA), son Shawn Clark and Daughter-in-law Elizabeth (West Covina, CA), son Travis Clark and daughter-in-law Vivian (Redondo Beach, CA) grandchildren: Vander, Aradessa, Neil, as well as a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of her Life will be at 7:00 p.m. on January 12,2024 at Faith United Methodist Church, 700 Fairview Dr., Montoursville, PA 17754 with Pastor Larry Leland officiating.
The service will be live-streamed and also recorded, available at https:// FaithUM.net/watch. Family will receive visitors starting at 6:00.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

She worked in banking in customer service, Britts Department Store as an assistant manager, and on staff for 30 years at St. Anns Catholic Church. She was a very active member of St. Anns Catholic Church, past president of the women’s guild, bereavement committee, lecturer, Eucharist Minister, collection counter, and playing of the church bells.
She is survived by three sons, Stephen Huss, Williamsport, Michael Huss, Henderson, NV, Jay Huss, Washington, PA; two daughters, Veronica Salpeas, McLean, VA, Christine Huss, Williamsport; nine grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Obituary Preview: Raquel Abbey Wright, age 32, of Williamsport, left this Earth, on Wednesday, December 21, 2023, surrounded by her loving parents, and the prayers of many.
Raquel was born on September 5, 1991, to James and Ellen Abbey Wright in Williamsport, PA. She graduated high school in 2009. She had a passion for basketball and loved when she played on the team for the Saint John Neumann Regional Academy. After high school, she remained close to her best friend, Morgan, and her family. Raquel always extended help to anyone in need, even up to her very last days. She treated people the way she would want to be treated. Raquel also loved music and loved to dance. She had a beautiful soul and a great sense of humor and wit. Throughout her lifetime, she expressed a great love of animals, volunteering at the local SPCA and had many loving pets over the years, including her beloved “Eve.”
She adored her nieces and nephews. Especially Noah, Eliora, Ophira, Aiyana, Isaiah, and Lil G who were all close to her in age. They all grew up right alongside each other. Noah was like her brother, being just a couple months younger than her. Raquel was so proud of her big family.
Raquel will be deeply missed and is survived by her parents, James and Ellen Abbey Wright, brothers and sisters, Michelle Watts, Jessica Hunter (Jacob), Garreth Watts (Krishgen), Joshua Wright (Aine), Jennifer Best (Michael), nieces and nephews (Paissia, Reef, Shem, Xyla, Addisyn, Ashton, Keller, and Myla) and great nieces and nephews, all of whom she dearly loved. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Wayne and Aleatha Wright and her maternal grandparents, Elizabeth and Garreth Winston Abbey.

Born March 26, 1965, in Williamsport, he was the loving son of ZaZa (Dye) B. Hartsock. Kenny graduated from Williamsport High School in 1983, and went to Pittsburgh Job Core Trade School to earn his certificate in welding. Kenny enjoyed camping at Little Bear Mountain and shooting pool with Miele League. He was an avid fantasy football player and a huge Steelers, Penn State and Yankees fan. In his spare time, Kenny enjoyed traveling with his family’s band, volunteering to operate sound and light, while relaxing to live music.
Surviving along with his mother are two children, Miranda Dye and Travis Haines (Lindsey Hill); one brother, Richard Dye; one sister, Donna Aikey (Tim); four grandchildren, Alexis Haines, Airyawna Beam, Rylan Haines, and Aria Jenious; one nephew, Mason Aikey, and one niece, Asia Howard.

Born on October 27, 1954 in Elizabeth, NJ and was a son of William F. and Anne Chase Flynn of Linden, NJ.
He was a 1972 graduate of Linden High School, Linden, NJ and a graduate of Williamsport Area Community College receiving certificates, May, 1982 in auto body repair and May, 1984 in automotive mechanics. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt after 22 years. He was also part of the Captain's Gig where he dove into the ocean and saved a fellow sailor who fell overboard. William retired from the Navy and Naval Reserves. He worked for Frito Lay, Piper Aircraft, Bailey Control and Primus. The job he liked most was working at Great Escape, Regal Cinema, Muncy and being able to talk to people. He enjoyed being an artist, drawing, working with stained glass, and painting. He also enjoyed, all types of animals, traveling to Jamestown, RI and Myrtle Beach, telling jokes, talking about the military especially the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt, an avid Steelers and Penn State fan, reading Readers Digest, doing find a word puzzles, fixing anything that was broken, watching his grandchildren play soccer, everywhere he traveled he liked to talk to people. William was known as a gentle giant with a big heart.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, William (Lisa) Flynn, Williamsport; a daughter, Noel (Jason Fitzsimmons) Flynn, Charlotte, NC; two sisters, Debra Flynn, Jackson, NJ, Claire (Jack) Beaman, Stockton, NJ; a brother, Patrick (Linda) Flynn, Williamsburg, VA; four grandchildren, Luke Flynn, Makayla Flynn, Kane Fitzsimmons, Kody Fitzsimmons. He was predeceased by a sister Eugenia Flynn.

He is survived by two daughters, Denise (David) Updegraff of Montoursville, Patricia (Steve) Leidhecker of Cogan Station; two sons, James Bower of Williamsport, Paul E. He retired from Fairfield Toyota in 2010, where he was General Manager for 21 years. Following retirement, he was elected to multiple terms as an Armstrong Township Supervisor. Dick also enjoyed shooting sporting clays, hunting and his 1965 Corvette.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a stepson, Adam (Liz) Rodgers of AL; a stepdaughter, Sally Whitmoyer of FL; a sister, Jeanne (Lee) Staib Walthall of AL. Two nephews, Michael (Comelia) Elwood of MA and Mark (Sally) Elwood of AL. He was predeceased by a brother, Harry A. Staib, III.
Dick had a big heart and made friends wherever he went. He loved to tell stories and make people laugh. Dick will be missed by all of his friends and family.

He was an avid hunter, bicyclist and was known for his square dance calling.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jeffry (Corrie Peck) Bobst of Montgomery, a daughter Susan Kay Snyder of Cogan Station, three sisters, two granddaughters, Sarah Bobst and Lynaugh Bost, and one great granddaughter Bridget Beamer. He was predeceased by a sister.

John served his country honorably in the U.S Army in Germany during the Vietnam era. He was a lifetime member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. He was an active member of the community where he competitively bowled a perfect 300, played volleyball, passionately supported his nephews and nieces at their sporting events, and was a diehard Penn State and NY Rangers fan.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, John A. (Tara) Jennings, Jr. of Colorado Springs, CO, Brian (Julie) Jennings of Pittsburgh, Robert (Jen) Lilley of Palm Bay, FL; a daughter, Kimberly (Lorenzo) Gould of Leonardtown, MD; three brothers Joseph Jennings of Williamsport, Laughlin Jennings, II of Williamsport; Martin Jennings of Loyalsock; two sisters, Jean Anne Soars of Loyalsock, Elvira Jennings of Williamsport; eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren. Eternal thanks to his lifetime friend Ronald Larison and special friend Mike Schelb. He will be immensely missed by his loyal German Shepherd, Hans and ecstatically welcomed at the Rainbow Bridge by “Daddy's Boy” Zeus.
