Gregory Bruce Darby - May 27, 1950 - June 12, 2022

Departed: 06/12/2022 (Wilton Manors)
Obituary Preview: Gregory B. Darby (May 27, 1950 – June 12, 2022) was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and resided in Ft. Lauderdale, FL since 1964. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Karen Darby, daughter Kelly (Brett) Gilbert, son Chad Darby, and sister Carol (Don) Kvingedal.
Greg attended the University of Tennessee. He has been the owner/president of many companies: Darby & Way (surveying & civil engineering firm), Christian Interactive Network (a pioneering Christian online service), ARK Data Center (secure web hosting facility), and presently CEO of Cruisin' Tikis (tiki bar boats that he designed and manufactured for franchises all over the United States).
After being diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia 21 years ago, he was in remission until it returned in April of this year. He passed exactly as he wished: surrounded by family in his home - looking out at the water, palm trees, blue skies, and his famous Cruisin' Tikis boats. Greg's abilities to fix and invent were admired so much that his friends called him MacGyver. His accomplishments were fascinating. He built a hot-rod car at age 16, raced catamaran sailboats in his 20s, and rode his Harley-Davidson motorcycle 9,446 miles from Key West, FL to Homer, Alaska in 12-1/2 days in the Hoka Hey Challenge at age 60. Greg was an avid musician, playing his Fender guitars with the Surfin' Tones surf rock band. The world has lost a brilliant, kind and good man! There will be two public memorial services:
• 7/10/2022 – Greg belonged to Greeenback Surf Club since high school. They will be having a Paddle Out at the beach across from Bahia Mar at 8:00am. Friends may join the paddle out or watch from the beach to enjoy this beautiful ceremony.
• 7/24/2022 – Greg wanted to have a Celebration of Life at Mickey's Tiki Bar, 350 SW 12th Ave, Pompano Beach. There is an 11:00am church service, with a buffet and music to follow the rest of the day.

Robert Warren Thomas, Jr - October 17, 1967 - May 20, 2022

Departed: 05/20/2022 (Wilton Manors)
Obituary Preview: Robert Warren Thomas Jr. (aka: Robert James Kerr) Passed away peacefully May 20,2022, at his home in Brevard County, FL. Robert also went by Uncle RoRo, Robbie, Bobby, Rob, or Bob. He was born in Monterey, California on Fort Ord Army Base to Robert Warren Thomas Sr. and Laura J Boone (Thomas/Kerr). Robert grew up in South Florida and lived mostly in Sunrise, Plantation, and Hollywood, FL, where he was a magnet personality to many friends, and for some to become life-long family to him. His dynamic smile, beautiful blue eyes, soft heart, and wonderful sense of humor were all portals to his intelligent-deep soul. Robert was that person you could rely on when in need and took great pride in being a loyal and honorable employee and person. He was also very thoughtful, kind, loving, and generous.
Robert was proud to be a truck driver and visited/traveled through almost every state in the USA (besides Alaska and Hawaii). On his time off, he enjoyed driving his Harley, named “PHANTASM” (after his favorite horror film), on Merritt Island -or any desolate road that led to nature, to find the best beaches to enjoy boogie boarding, collecting seashells, seeking out shipwreck treasures, and shark teeth. When he wasn’t in nature, he enjoyed playing his guitars, concerts, collecting music, and reading. Family and music were the top loves of his life. He was the best “Uncle RoRo” to his niece (Hannah) and nephew (Aiden), and his love for them was unmeasurable, genuine, and pure. He was their “cool uncle”, who was very supportive and proud of them. Being a good role model to them was important to him. He always taught them to be true to yourself, hardworking, and doing what you love will pay off. His admiration for birds, particularly crows and ravens(due to their high intelligence), were the center of his everyday life. He also loved animals of all kinds and they seemed to gravitate towards
him wherever he went. “Oreo”, his “tuxedo cat”, was treated like a princess and he was a proud cat Dad.
His love for the nature, the beach and boogie boarding were contributed by his biological Father, Robert W. Thomas Sr. His adopted Father, James R Kerr, taught Robert his love for guitar, culture, travel, music, and the art of Horror Films. Thomas Boone, his Stepdad, showed his love through humor and music. He and Robbie shared their love of percussion and drums and all genres of music. Laura J Boone, his Mother, and Robert shared their love of Lady GaGa, the Lottery, and they were both Libras that enjoyed lots laughter and margaritas. Jennifer J Hawkins, his sister and best friend, had a special bond that lasted all throughout their lives. They were always laughing and joking whenever together, and they were each other’s rocks, as he’d often say. His brother-in-law, Lyle D Hawkins was also Robbie’s best friend and they had a dynamic brotherhood like no other. With their love of family , music, and culture being their main bonds.
He leaves behind many friends, mostly friends that turned family, his Cat- Oreo, Mother- Laura J Boone (Tom Boone, he called Dad) Father- James R Kerr(Cathy Kerr), Sister- Jennifer J (Kerr) Hawkins, Brother (inlaw and in Metal)- Lyle D Hawkins, Niece- Hannah J Hawkins, Nephew- Aiden L Hawkins, Cousin- Evan A Kusch, and many other distant cousins in California and throughout the United States.
