James D. Crane - December 01, 1962 - April 28, 2024

Departed: 04/28/2024 (Mt. Clemens)
Obituary Preview: James D. Crane, 61, of Capac, passed away of a sudden heart attack at McLaren Macomb on Sunday, April 28, 2024. Jim was born on December 1, 1962 at the same hospital.
Jim is survived by his wife Rhonda (Wetzel) Crane, who he has been married to for over 40 years. Jim and Rhonda were married in 1984 at Bethany Baptist Church, Clinton Township where they later became Word of Life leaders. He is also survived by parents David Crane and Lillian (Bailey) Crane. He is survived by his sister Linda (Chuck) Chase and their 3 boys. He is preceded in death by his brother Gerry Crane, who passed away in 1997 from a cardiac arrest.
Jim is a 3rd generation owner of Crane Alinement, which was once a service station near Cass and Rose in Mt. Clemens. He started working there at 16 years old and his love of mechanic work passed down to his oldest son Jacob, who he has been working with for over 10 years. Jim could be seen having long conversations with customers who would later become life-long friends.
Jim and Rhonda moved to Capac in 1995 and fell in love with country life, starting a small farm with hundreds of chickens, ducks, and some pigs. Jim was President of the Capac Community Schools Board of Education, and he served on the board for over 18 years. He loved bringing back funding and attention to music and sports alike, and advocating for students, teachers, and the community. You would see him at any concert, game, or activity that he was able to attend. He loved connecting with members of the community and making positive change and watching the talent and amazing growth in Capac.
Jim and Rhonda have seven children, Rachel (Dustin) Hoffman, Rebecca (Chris) White, Renee (Chris) Meeder, Jacob Crane, Jeremiah Crane, Robin Crane, and Joshua (Charity) Crane.
Jim’s selfless nature and sense of service and love of country was something he passed along to his children. He proudly watched his daughter Renee serve over 10 years as an officer in the U.S. Air Force. Her husband Chris has also served 10 years and counting as an officer in the U.S. Air Force. In 2019, his son Jeremiah enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and has served over 5 years and counting. His youngest son, Joshua, enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 2022 and is still currently serving. Jim saw four children dedicate years of their lives to uniformed service.
Jim and Rhonda have 16 grandchildren that love them dearly. There was nothing more exciting to the grandkids than Grandma and Grandpa coming to visit. They could be seen playing toys on the floor with them, taking naps on the couch with them, watching movies with blankets and popcorn, playing card or board games with snacks, encouraging them to help with tasks at the shop so they could feel included, or enjoying the beautiful backyard on their five acres in Capac. Grandpa would be the first one to provide piggyback rides in the pool, canoe rides in the pond, or fall asleep reading them their favorite books. He was smitten and incredibly proud of all his grandchildren.

Kelli Sue McFadden (Kirschling) - February 16, 1969 - April 24, 2024

Departed: 04/24/2024 (Mt. Clemens)
Obituary Preview: Kelli Sue Kirschling, 55, of Eastpointe, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, in the comfort of her home.  She was born in Santa Ana, California on February 16, 1969, and was the daughter of James and Nancy McFadden. Kelli was a 1987 Algonac High School graduate and continued her education at Macomb County Community College, where she earned her associate’s degree in accounting.
Kelli spent many of her summers on the North Channel of Lake St. Clair, beginning when she was a child, as her parents were founding members of Poor Mans Yacht Club. In her later years, Kelli stepped away from boating, trading the water for the open road. She loved riding her Harley Davidson motorcycle with the Great Lakes Riding Club and her boyfriend, Al, around Michigan’s scenic countryside and thrived among the many friends she made in the club.
Her life was not always easy, but those struggles gave her a deeper well of empathy, love, and care that she shared with others. She was an adoptee, a birth mother, and a regular mom. Before her big battles with addiction, she raised a kid (and really, did a pretty good job considering how young she was), was married for nearly 15 years to Frank, and often took in family members who needed care. Kelli continued this legacy of care during times of her sobriety – she often attended late night recovery meetings, volunteered at the Alano club, and helped others on their sobriety journey. She was the first to offer help, a kind ear, a ride to a meeting, or even a place to crash.
Kelli was a wild, impulsive, stubborn, and kind-hearted person who fiercely loved her friends and family, but most of all, her daughter. She had a wicked, often profane sense of humor. Her favorite color was purple, like her birthstone, amethyst. At restaurants, she always ordered the mozzarella sticks and if she couldn’t be bothered to cook, there were always chicken flavored ramen noodles. Kelli liked collecting milk glass, jewelry, and going to garage sales. She could always be convinced to go on an impromptu road trip or to get last-minute concert tickets. She listened to music of all kinds – metal, rock, country, and pop – the louder, the better. In many ways, its the small things about her that will be the most cherished reminders her time here. Kelli is survived by her daughter, Alyssa (John) Kirschling-Sternberg; boyfriend, Al Winquest; biological mother, Karen Lee; half-sister, Amy Linder; half-brother, David Lee; and many beloved friends
She is predeceased by her parents, James and Nancy McFadden.
The family honors the memory of Kelli and invites you to visit on Thursday, May 2, 2024, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Mt. Clemens, with a sharing of memories starting at 6:30 p.m.
The family suggests that donations in memory of Kelli should go to one of the following organizations: The Macomb County Alano Center, Live Right Structured Recovery Corp. and Families Against Narcotics. For more information and Tribute Wall visit: KaatzFunerals.com
