A die-hard fan of the Chicago Blackhawks and the Bears, he shared his love for sports and the thrill of the game with everyone around him.

He always warmed up or cooled down the car so the rest of the family could be comfortable, and he patiently would hold the door for his wife Martha each and every time they went out.

His children, Rana Sundell-Adams and Randy Sundell were the apple of his eye. Robert taught them how to water ski and sail, sharing unforgettable moments on his beloved Chris-Craft boat. His son-in-law, Keith Adams, held a special place in his heart as well, sharing many happy moments together playing dartball, or bowling with church.

The simple pleasure of vanilla ice cream with chocolate and a generous dollop of whipped cream was one of Robert's favorite treats, a sweet reflection of his ability to find joy in the everyday. Quiet, with a wonderful sense of humor, and gentle demeanor, he was always ready to listen or help others.

He was a servant, putting everyone else before his own interests in all aspects of life, from church and community events to home activities. His presence made any gathering brighter, and his devotion to making others happy will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

He donated often to many charities, to help plant trees, assist other veterans, advance medical research in the field of cancer and Alzheimer’s, and assist those with special needs.

Robert's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the courage to embrace life's adventures. He will be dearly missed, yet his spirit will live on through the cherished memories he created with his loved ones. His was a life well-lived, full of moments that exemplify the essence of a man who was truly one of a kind.

As we bid farewell to Robert Wayne Sundell, we celebrate a life that was rich in experience and abundant in love. His story is a beautiful reminder to savor each moment, pursue our passions, and cherish those we hold dear. Rest in peace, Robert; your journey was an inspiration to us all.

Visitation will take place at Zion Lutheran Church 4206 W Elm St, McHenry, IL 60050 on Monday, May 06th, 2024, from 9 AM-11 AM, and the funeral service will follow. A burial will be held on Thursday, May 09th at 1:30 pm at Windridge Memorial Park 7014 S Rawson Bridge Rd, Cary, IL 60013.

Arthur (Greg) Gregory Lefebvre - December 28, 1964 - April 21, 2024

Obituary Preview: Greg passed away peacefully at Journey Care hospice on April 21, 2024, and was accompanied out with one of his favorite guitar riffs, Stairway to Heaven. He was born December 28th, 1964, to Arthur and Bonnie Lefebvre in Chicago, IL. He is preceded in death by his father Arthur W. Lefebvre. He is survived by his mother, Bonnie, brother, Roger, sister-in Law, Tina, niece, Hannah and nephew, Jack. After graduating St. Ignatius College Prep, Greg went on to work a variety of jobs. From Snuggery to Sluggers, Midwest Auto Recovery, and two of his most rewarding,

Bernie’s Book Bank and the Comfort Inn in Crystal Lake.

His health complications challenged him his entire life. From the diabetes, the amputation and to cancer he still lived life to its fullest.

When you met Greg, you were a friend forever. No matter if you knew him for two days or two decades, to know him was to love him. For example, guests at the Comfort Inn frequently left him Thank You notes regarding his jovial attitude and personal charm.

Even after the second amputation, neuropathy and still battling pancreatic cancer, he was the honorary “mayor” at his last rehab facility. He was able to get introverted patients there to join in for meals and community activities. (Shout out to the ladies at Table #7 who were enamored with him.) No matter what he was doing, he was always willing to listen and acknowledge with a hug and a smile.

He was an avid guitar player and would play Stairway to Heaven and Iron Man over and over. He loved all types of music, races at Road America and family gatherings at Potato Creek.

Greg’s friends and family were his reward in life, and he was ours too. The countless friends from all his nightclub, repo and service days are too large to name. His surrogate Granville family held a special place in his heart. Greg also had cherished aunts, uncles, and cousins. Most beloved of all are Greg’s niece, Hannah and nephew, Jack. He was the best uncle the kids could ever have asked for. A mass and Celebration of Life will be planned over the next couple of months, and EVERYONE is welcome. His legacy of love and laughter will live on through them. Bill also held a special place in the heart of his niece, Tina Dehmlow, who will miss his guidance and warmth.

She always had her sisters nearby: Jutta Perry (Clayton) and Lorretta Baumgardner (Randy). Although Mike, her parents, and her son Michael, have predeceased her, the legacy of love they cultivated continues to thrive through her family.

Left to honor Elke's memory are her devoted daughter, Elke Kleisch (Alfonso Casal), her caring daughter-in-law, Alyce Kleisch, and her adored grandchildren, Julian, Berlynn, and Leah. Her spirit will also live on through her sister-in-law, Rosemarie Morgen (John), and her nieces and nephews (Ingrid, Al, Natasha, Robert, John, Andy, and Rose) Each family member carries a piece of Elke's heart.

Elke's life was marked by her passion for her family, especially her grandchildren, to whom she often expressed her love with the heartfelt words, "I love you more." Her love for entertainment was evident in her favorite TV show, "Blue Bloods," and her enjoyment of the heartwarming stories on the Hallmark Channel.

She faced life's challenges with grace and humor, always ready with a sarcastic quip to “lighten the mood”. Edward (Ned) J. Neumann - April 24, 1943 - April 14, 2024

Ned passed away peacefully at his home on April 14, 2024. He was born on April 24, 1943 in Toledo, Ohio to Edward J. Sr. and Marie Neumann. He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother Karl. He is survived by his brother James (Jim), his nieces Tracie (Steven) Bock, Jennifer (David) Faust, and nephews Christopher Neumann and Bryan Neumann.

After graduating from University of Toledo he was hired by United Airlines as a pilot, which brought him to the Chicago area. He moved to the town of McHenry, Illinois in 1970. He knew that when he went to look at a house on Country Club Drive and had to wait for a family of ducks to waddle across the road that McHenry was the place for him. Ned was a Pilot for United Airlines for 37 years. He was very involved with the town of McHenry and looked out for neighbors and friends. He dined out at local restaurants where everyone knew him and he always left tips in his signature two-dollar bills.

Signifying his involvement in community, he was a member of the Board of Education for the McHenry Community High School District #156 for 18 years and elected to the board six times and President of the Board for 9 years, President of the McHenry Country Club Subdivision Association for 40 years, President of the McHenry County non-dedicated roads association for 10 years, the longest serving member (23 years) of the McHenry Riverwalk foundation, past President of the City of McHenry Economic Development Corp., 12-year member of the Board of Directors of the Family Service and Community Mental Health Center for McHenry County.

Ned was also a member and past President of the McHenry County Enterprise Club.

With a never-ending curiosity and enthusiasm for projects, he was the proud owner of a train Caboose, a Duck (DUKW) boat and two houseboats. He was an avid Bridge and Poker player and enjoyed the conviviality of the regular gatherings. A true original, he was known for his funny and insightful ‘Nedisms’.

Ned was a great friend and also a mentor and father figure to many. He will be sorely missed.

A Celebration of Life gathering is being planned for the near future and all that knew The Ned will be warmly invited.

After retiring, Lorraine turned her attention to the train museum in Union, Illinois, where she played a pivotal role in restoring trains and rail cars, preserving a slice of history for future generations to appreciate.

Lorraine was also an active member of the Cultured Purls Knitting Guild of McHenry County. Her love for knitting was not just a hobby; it was a thread that connected her with those she cared for, as she crafted scarves and slippers for everyone she knew. This act of creating warmth for others was a true reflection of her loving and selfless nature.

In her personal life, Lorraine found solace and joy in the beauty of nature. Her life was a testament to her love for roses and butterflies, a serene haven where she spent countless hours nurturing the flowers and plants she adored. Her passion for teaching illuminated the minds of young learners, while her skills as a real estate agent helped countless families find their dream homes. Her caring nature shone brightly during her time working in a hospital, where she touched the lives of many. Her dedication to her community was evident in her active membership in the PTA, enthusiasm to attend and host neighborhood gatherings and parties and her participation in the Red Hat Society, where she brought smiles and support to those around her.

A woman of many interests, Patricia found joy in oil painting, channeling her inner creativity onto the canvas. She relished the open road, taking road trips that were often coupled with the thrill of antiquing. A bowling aficionado, she also found tranquility in tending to her yard. An observer of life's tapestry, she enjoyed people-watching, finding wonder in the stories that played out before her eyes.

Patricia greatly honored her ancestry by keeping holiday traditions, including the family recipe of German Potato Dumplings, a dish that epitomized her love for sharing meals and creating memories around the table. Her generosity extended to every aspect of her life, as she eagerly shared her time, her family stories, and her dumplings with all.

As we bid farewell to Patricia Ann Motsinger, we celebrate the extraordinary life she led and the countless ways she enriched ours. Her generous soul, adventurous heart, and spirited nature will forever be remembered and cherished. Patricia's story does not end with her passing but lives on in the memories we hold dear and the love that binds us together.

Ella's artistic spirit shone brightly as she expressed herself through drawing. Her love for adventure led her to explore the thrills of Urban Air Trampoline Park and to seek out the excitement of rides on the Chicago L with her Godmother, Carol Javens. A true outdoors enthusiast, Ella cherished her fishing trips and exhibited remarkable skill at the shooting range. Her Saturday evenings were often spent drawing with her father, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

The warmth of Ella's personality was unmistakable; she never met a stranger and was loved by all who had the fortune to cross her path. Her presence at family dinners at her grandparents' house was always a highlight, as she brought laughter and love to the table. Ella's humor, intelligence, and loving nature were the words that best described her, and they shone through in every interaction.

A true fan of The Simpsons and Modern Family, Ella found joy and laughter in the stories and characters of her favorite shows. Her emotional depth was profound, and she experienced life with a passion that was both inspiring and moving.

Diane's eyes would light up at the mention of her great-grandchildren, Aaron and Isaac, whose early steps and bright smiles filled her with immense joy.

Diane's siblings, Denise, Dale and Dan, shared in the rich memories that wove through their collective lives.

In her youth and as long as her dexterity allowed, she played piano and organ to accompany the family as they sang. She treasured her family above all else, and was preceded in death by her parents, William and Emma Gray, her first husband, Joycland Joseph LaGray, her son, Joseph (Deb) LaGray, a grandson, and several brothers and sisters whose memories remain cherished. A loving mother, she leaves behind her son, Anthony (Diana) LaGray; and her daughters, Teresa (Karl) Nitz and Lesa (Patrick Klapperich) Horton-Cvitkovic.

Elberta's legacy is carried on by her 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Family gatherings including Elberta's giant breakfasts, featuring her famous Butter Biscuits and Chocolate Gravy, or the tradition of Cookie Day at Christmas time, where her cookie recipes were passed to the next generations, were much anticipated. She took great pleasure in sharing the fruits of her labor from her bountiful vegetable garden with friends, family, and neighbors, ensuring no one left her home empty-handed.

A woman of many talents, Elberta's creativity shone through her paintings and drawings, which were admired by all who had the pleasure of viewing them. Her artistic flair was not limited to canvas; it permeated every aspect of her life, from her cooking and baking to her gardening. The recipes and methods she perfected over the years, including her homemade bread, salsa and pickles, are part of the cherished family heirlooms that will continue to be passed down through generations.

Elberta's passions extended to the world of science fiction, where she found joy in watching sci-fi TV shows and movies. This love was not hers alone, as she shared these moments with her children and grandchildren, creating lasting memories and a shared family pastime.

Their union was blessed with three sons, Brian (Hillary) Busse, David (Laurie) Busse, and Daniel Busse, who brought into the world a legacy of grandchildren: Andrea King, Matthew Busse, Regan Thurow, Taylor Decker, Easton Hall, Cory Busse, Brandon Busse, Jake Busse, Brianne Busse, Kadin Busse, Ben Busse, and Madelynn Busse. Gary was also blessed with four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. His love for his family was unwavering and shone brightly through his support and presence at countless family gatherings and milestones.

Gary was the beloved brother of Pat (Ernie) Grimm and Steven (Kathy) Busse. He was preceded in death by his devoted parents, Marvin and Nora Busse, and respected in-laws, William and Ruth Brackmann, and a nephew, Timothy Brackmann. The values instilled in him by his family remained a guiding force throughout his life.

His early education took place at St. John's Lutheran School in Mt. Prospect, where he formed lifelong friendships. Gary's high school years at Forest View High School were marked by his talent on the baseball field as the team's catcher, a position that reflected his leadership and teamwork abilities.

Gary's early years were spent on the Busse family farm in Elk Grove. After high school, Gary honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he was stationed in Germany; an experience that shaped his character and fortitude. After his military service, he embarked on a fulfilling career with ComEd, where he was known for his dedication and work ethic, retiring at the age of 50.

A proud member of American Legion Post 265, Gary found camaraderie and a shared sense of service with fellow veterans. His spiritual life was nurtured at the Fellowship of Faith Lutheran Church in McHenry, where he was a dedicated attendee, living his faith through action and example.

Gary's interests were a mirror to his soul. He loved camping at Lake Shelbyville and the Grand Tetons in Wyoming, where he found peace in nature's grandeur. Snowmobiling and boating were among his favorite activities, offering him both adventure and relaxation. A fan of classic car shows, Gary's appreciation for craftsmanship and nostalgia was evident to all who accompanied him. He taught his children how to appreciate and fix anything.

Perhaps closest to his heart was attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He was their biggest fan. His encouragement and pride for each grandchild were a source of motivation and love and a path towards God's plan for them.

As we bid farewell to Gary Lee Busse, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a soul that profoundly touched all who knew him. His spirit will continue to guide and inspire his family and friends, leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and faith that will endure for generations to come. From his children "Dad, we aren't gonna take it out of gear".

Nancy was raised on her family’s dairy farm in Richmond, IL, with her seven siblings. Following high school, Nancy moved to McHenry, IL, where she built a wonderful life filled with family and long-lasting friendships. Nancy was a person of devout faith and a parishioner of St. Patrick Catholic Church for over 60 years. She was an active member of her church community, volunteering her time as the Ladies Guild treasurer and as a longtime member of the Rosary group.

Nancy was a warm, welcoming person who was always smiling and had a great sense of humor. She had many interests over the years, including card games, dominos, golf and traveling, that all centered around spending quality time with family and friends. She also enjoyed working for many years at State Farm Insurance in McHenry. Nancy was never happier than when she was with her children and grandchildren, whom she loved and supported with unwavering pride and enthusiasm. She hosted countless family gatherings, where she would indulge everyone in her love for baking – with her snickerdoodle cookies becoming the family favorite.

Nancy's legacy is carried on by her devoted children: Peggy (John) Walding, Kathy (Tom) Nikolai, Julie (Pat) Calcagno, Mike (Laura) McGee, and Kevin (Karen) McGee. Her love further blossomed through her cherished grandchildren, Sarah (Chris) Simms, Scott (Brittany) Walding, Kristen (Chris) Manning; Jack, Matthew, and Madeline Nikolai; Quinn, Nick, Anna, and Ryan Calcagno; Owen and Ella McGee; and her adored great-grandchild, Leia Simms. She is further survived by her loving sister, Judy Huff.

After his military service, he pursued certifications in HVAC and electrical work, skills that he mastered and utilized throughout his career. He also worked as a volunteer firefighter for many years to help his community in the Crystal Lake area. Any work he did was not just a job; it was a platform for him to connect with many and leave a positive impact on those he served and worked with.

Bob was an avid outdoorsman who found solace and joy in the embrace of nature. Hunting, fishing, and camping were not just hobbies but a way of life that he eagerly shared with his children and friends. His love for the outdoors was matched only by his love for music, particularly the classic tunes of the 70s. His friends reminisce on listening to the Eagles with him. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Nancy, but his legacy continues through his beloved children, Matthew and Katelyn, his siblings, a host of nieces, nephews, and a large community of friends who became an extension of his family.

Fred was born in 1972 in McHenry, and grew up in McCullom Lake.  Fred was surrounded by his family of four sisters, Sena Neff, Janice Bonogofosky (husband  Brian), Darlene Pedersen (husband Chuck), and Sherry Townsend (husband John).  He is also survived by his father, Fred E. Groh.  He is preceded in death by his mother, Sena D. Groh who surely welcomed him to Heaven with open arms.

Fred moved out at the age of 17 to travel to Arizona to work for a little over a year. Shortly after, he came back to Wisconsin and met his lifelong partner Carol Eidukas in 1990 and gained a step son, Mark Miller, who provided his first granddaughter, Karmen Miller.  Six years later they created two beautiful daughters, Marie and Tabatha Groh. In 1997, he started his own construction company, Creative Exteriors, where he took passion into his work as if it was an art of many decades all over the states. A year later Fred and Carol purchased their first home. Fred put his heart and soul to create a loving home for his family to grow up in remodeling it entirely by himself.

Fred Groh was a wonderful and devoted father, hard worker, and overall astonishing person. Other than his passion for working hard, it was his family that he had the strongest passion for. There was not a room that he could walk into and not spread cheer and laughter. Fred took his profession very seriously and taught his children to rise above everything and work hard for the things you want. When Fred wasn’t working, you would catch him fishing, snowmobiling, taking a ride on his motorcycle and surrounding himself with family.

A father like you is rare, one that’s so generous, smart and kind. A father like you is what everyone needs. Full of smiles and laughter, always doing great deeds. Nothing can replace a father like you.

There will be no services held for Fred Groh.  However, there will be a private gathering for close family.
