Obituary Preview: Jane Forstenzer, age 89, passed away on October 26th in Ardsley, NY, due to natural causes.

Born in NY, Jane graduated from Hunter College High School in 1951, followed by The University of Michigan, where she majored in Spanish and years later received a Master’s in ESL from UCLA.

Jane took advantage of each of her degrees, pursuing careers as both a Spanish teacher and ESL teacher where she taught students in Riverdale and Yonkers.

While in college, Jane met and married J. David Marks. They had two children, Stephen, and Amy, after relocating to Washington DC. She later married Peter Forstenzer, blending their families in Westchester, New York. They remained married until his passing 42 years later in 2015.

For many years, Jane was an active member of the Greenburgh Community Theater, where she acted in several plays, wrote skits, and helped with set design. She also volunteered at the Cherry Door in Tarrytown, helping to raise money for Phelps Memorial Hospital.

Intellectual and creative endeavors were Jane’s forte, whether it was doing the NY Times Crossword Puzzle, writing poetry for her friends and family, or journaling. Equally engaging were times spent playing bridge, spending time with her many friends or relaxing with her husband over hor d’oeuvres and cocktails.

Jane treasured her travels, collecting memories and mementos from places near and far. Her warm smile and great sense of humor were with her until the end.She was a devoted wife and mother who cared deeply for her family. Jane will be greatly missed by her family and those lucky to have known her.

She is survived by her son, Stephen Marks, and his wife, Michelle, her daughter Amy Marks-Lugones, and her husband, Alex, and her grandson Jared. Also,her stepson, Robert Forstenzer, stepdaughter, Karen Haskel, and her husband James, and three step-grandchildren.

Obituary Preview: We are sad to announce the passing of our beloved sister and aunt, Bernice Edwards Morgese, 78, of Port St. Lucie, Florida. She passed away peacefully at home on September 7th, following a brief illness, with family members by her side. She was born to Gladys and William Edwards and was a native of Sloatsburg and Rockland County, New York, until moving to Port St. Lucie, Florida in 1993.

Bernice graduated from Suffern High School in New York in 1961. Her entire work career from 1961 - 1993 was spent at The Village of Suffern where she retired as Assistant Village Clerk.

She is predeceased by her husband Pasquale (Pat) Morgese, her brother William Edwards Jr. and her sister Virginia Hunter.

She is survived by two sisters, Sharon (Ralph) DiSalvio of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Shirley Curtis Gallant of Jupiter, Florida.

Bernice left behind 5 nieces and nephews: Scott Kwiecinski of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Lori (Darren) Kilcrease of Conway, South Carolina; Clifford Curtis of Jupiter, Florida; Renee Curtis of Palm City, Florida; Darlene (John) McIntosh of Suffern, New York.

She also left behind 5 beloved great nieces and nephews: Caitie Kilcrease of Conway, South Carolina; Amelia Kilcrease of Conway, South Carolina; Justin Prondak of Warwick, New York; Joseph Prondak of Warwick, New York; Brian Hunter of Suffern, New York.

Bernice had special and dear friends with whom she shared much love and many good memories. They nicknamed her ‘trouble’. Her life was blessed with Bonnie Friello of Port St. Lucie, Florida; Barbara (Richie) Maniello of Okeechobee, Florida; Kathy (Kriss) St. George of Lakeville, Massachusetts; and Liz (Marc) McPhail Hyde of Gastonia, North Carolina.

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, September 14th from 3 - 7 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home, 7951 S. US Hwy 1, Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Visitation and Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held on Thursday, September 15th from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home.
