David Paige, 77, of Rock Hill, NY and resident of the Care Center at Sunset Lake in Sullivan County, passed away on April 27, 2024 from complications of dementia. David was born in Brooklyn, NY and graduated Adelphi University in 1968.
David was a life-long resident of Sullivan County and a local businessman for over thirty years, including owning Paige-1 convenient store in Mountaindale, NY, a local favorite for many years. David raised two children, Randi and Adam, in Mountaindale and Woodridge, NY with his former spouse, Beverly Paige (Schwartz), daughter of Charlotte and Al, owners of Mortman’s Bakery in Woodridge.
Additionally, David was a grandfather to his beloved grandson, Miles. Throughout his adult life, David was involved in his local community and served as Woodridge Town Trustee in the late 1980’s. He also served on the Board of Education of the Fallsburg Central School district in the late 1990’s, including Board President/Chairperson.
David loved living in the Catskills and lending a hand to neighbors and friends.

Leonard (Len) Pomerantz, a resident of Vero Beach, Florida, formerly of New City, NY and Kerhonkson, NY passed away peacefully on April 11, 2024, at the Visiting Nurse Associates Hospice House. He was 91 years old. The son of the late Ethel (Spellman) Pomerantz and the late David Pomerantz, Len was born on July 27, 1932 in the Bronx, NY. He graduated from Kerhonkson High School in 1949. In 1954, Len married his beautiful wife, Carol. He then served in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant, and served in Korea. After returning home, in 1956 Len joined the New York Life Insurance Company and had a successful career in sales, management, and senior management. He retired from New York Life in 1986. He then joined Companion Life, the New York subsidiary of Mutual of Omaha Life Insurance where he continued his professional career until retiring again in 1996.
Throughout his adult life Len was a student of American history, specifically military history and spent years amassing a collection of American military weapons. He often made presentations to schools and other civic groups about the shoulder arms carried by the American infantryman during the United States’ various military engagements. For over forty years Len participated in gun shows throughout the Northeastern US. He was a proud member and Fellow of the Company of Military Historians (West Point Chapter) and held a variety of positions including as its president. He was also an active member in the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and spent time visiting returning wounded veterans at local VA hospitals in the Rockland County area.
Len was a devoted family man, who enjoyed nothing more than having his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren around him as he puttered in the basement among his historic relics.
Len is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Carol, his three children Eric (Karen), Leah (Jan) and Jay (Karen) as well as six grandchildren, Jeremy (Jenna), Lauren (Fred), Daniel, Rachel, Rebecca, and David, and four great-grandchildren Ari, Madelyn, Eli, Ramani. His brother Aaron and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. Len was predeceased by his brothers Martin and Howard.

The daughter of the late Grace and Charles Finkelstein of Brooklyn, New York, she was born on November 17, 1924.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Nathan Werner and is survived by her son Dr. Robert Werner and his wife Patricia of Matamoras, Pennsylvania, grandchild Noreen, and great-grandchildren Naomi and Ellie. Son Jerrold Werner and his wife Lynda of Florida, New York, grandchildren Alyssa, Aron and Aric, great-grandchildren Lily, Dawson, Pyper, Clayton and Everly. And daughter Cynthia Werner of Albany, New York.
She was predeceased by her brothers Jack Finkelstein and Bernard Finkelstein, sisters Ann Kloner, Ruth Shaffer, Sylvia Eichler and Marcella Feinman.
She was a member and founder with her husband Nathan of Temple Beth Shalom, as well as the first Hebrew School teacher. She was a member of B’nai Brith, Life member of Hadassah, American Legion Auxiliary Post 1250, past District Deputy Grand Matron of Orange-Rockland District Order of the Eastern Star and Past Matron of Queen Esther Chapter #163 and the Historical Society of Florida, New York.
Services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, April 2,, 2024 at Temple Beth Shalom, 13 Roosevelt Avenue, Florida, NY 10921. Burial will immediately follow at the Temple Beth Shalom Cemetery, Spanktown Road, Warwick, NY.

Annette is survived by her children: Stephen Dishner, Sheldon Dishner and Linda Fox, Albert and Linda Dishner. And by her grandchildren, Robert and Karen Dishner, Scott and Jenya Dishner, Chad Dishner, Rebecca and Corey Borg, Jack and Phoebe Dishner, Shira Aaron and Tanya Ofer. And by her great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Dishner, Julia Dishner, Henry Dishner, Jace Dishner, Sophie Dishner, Leo Borg, Rosie Borg, Samantha Ofer, Emma Ofer, Olivia Ofer, Drew Aaron and Remi Aaron.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Julius Dishner of 61 years and by her brother, Harold Hale and her sister Mildred Feierman.
Annette Dishner was involved in many civic and religious organizations throughout her life, including the Senior Citizens Club, NYS Board of Elections and the So. Fallsburg Hebrew Association.
She lived 103 years being loved and blessed.

Ruth Lasky lived a long and full life. Ruth was born in Brooklyn on December 17, 1925 to Ida and Charles Eckstein. After elementary and high school Ruth attended NYU where she majored in journalism and was editor of the university's newspaper. Ruth then went on to receive her Masters in Education from Hofstra University.
In 1947 Ruth married Alvin Lasky. They started their married life in Brooklyn and then moved to Woodmere. In the early 1960s they settled in Monticello where Alvin owned and operated the Lasky Chevrolet-Oldsmobile Dealership. He later worked for the Department of Social Services until his retirement.
Ruth and Alvin raised 3 children whom they were very proud of: Jill, Larry, and Gerri.
Besides being a devoted mother, Mrs. Lasky was always an active synagogue member, but she is best known by others for being a beloved teacher. She taught 2nd and 3rd grade in the Monticello schools.
Upon retirement Mrs. Lasky spent part of the year in West Palm Beach, returning each summer to Monticello to be near family and friends.
Mrs. Lasky was predeceased by her husband, Alvin, her daughter. Jill, and her sister, Estelle. She is survived by her son, Larry; her daughter, Gerri (husband-Yitschok Rudomin); her son-in-law, Len Tischler; and her grandchildren: Lauren, Michael, Dovid, Rochel, Miriam, Yehoshuah, and Nechama; as well as many great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, all dear to her heart.

Ted David Friehling, MD passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on December 5, 2023/ 22 Kislev, 5784 at 72 years old in Pittsburgh, PA. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 30, 1951, the son of Gloria Leatrice Birch Friehling and Joseph Newman Friehling, DDS.
Ted’s career as a cardiac electrophysiologist spanned four decades and multiple states saving and improving the lives of both children and adults. His other passionate vocation was music, writing songs and performing, enriching the lives of all who knew him.
He is survived by his mother, Gloria, his sister Jane (Gilbert Toll), his wife Linda Belgrade Friehling, his dear sons and daughters-in-law, Mati (Erika Posner), Jacob (Jennifer Cronk), Benji (Hali Feldman), and his dear grandchildren, Layla, Elijah, Shaia, Jude, Jack, and Jimi. He was predeceased by his father, Joseph Friehling.

Henry Katz passed away on November 10, 2023, in Boca Raton, Florida, at the age of 86.
Henry grew up in Liberty, NY, the son of Anne and Morris Katz. Henry graduated from Liberty High School and received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Northwestern University.
Henry met the love of his life, Sandy, through her brother Fred, with whom Henry served in the military. During a weekend pass from the Army, Henry and Sandy went on their first date. They were married for 60 years.
After they were married, they settled in Liberty where Henry began running, Katz’s Bake Shop, the family business. Over the next 40 years, Henry built Katz’s Bake Shop into a fixture in the Catskill Mountains, selling his famous baked goods to most of the resort hotels, restaurants, camps, and bungalow colonies throughout the area. After four decades, Henry and Sandy moved to White Plains, NY to start the next chapter of their lives. It was then that Henry developed a second career as a consultant and trusted advisor to some of New York City’s most well known restaurants. After moving to Florida ten years ago, Henry continued to provide counsel to restaurants and food service businesses throughout the country and was often recognized for his innovative and creative approach to developing new culinary concepts. He was very proud of his connection to and long history with the Catskills.
In addition to a busy professional career, Henry loved his family, particularly his grandchildren, with whom he tried to see and talk with as frequently as possible. Henry was an avid reader, fisherman, and he and Sandy and their friends traveled the world, always looking to explore the unexplored.
Henry is predeceased by his wife Sandy and survived by their children, Allyson Schlesinger (Jarrod) of Chappaqua, NY, David Katz (Sheri) of Westport, CT, and Steven Katz (Barbara) of Phoenix, AZ, as well as six grandchildren, Amanda and Drew Schlesinger, Adam, Evan, Rebekah, and Josh Katz.
Interment will take place at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Congregation Ahavath Israel Cemetery, Hysana Road, Liberty, NY. A memorial service will take place also on Thursday, November 16 at 3:00pm. at Beecher Flooks Funeral Home, 418 Bedford Road, Pleasantville, NY, 10570. Marc Jason Shulman, 79, passed away on October 26, 2023. Born on December 7, 1943, Marc spent most of his life in the Catskills - growing up in Liberty NY and then living in Monticello NY, later in life.
Marc was known for his friendly and warm personality and had a particular fondness for the Catskills, where he loved going on long drives and sharing memories.
More than anything, Marc loved spending time with and talking about his five grandsons and one granddaughter.
Marc is survived by his children, Alyssa (Dov) Strulowitz and Neil Shulman and his grandchildren, Samuel, Benjamin and Zachary Strulowitz and Meir Leib, Yehuda and Basya Shulman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Edith Shulman, as well as his sister Stephanie and her husband Robert Heigh.

Linda Ellen Krieger Dahn entered this world on August 10, 1946, to Morris and Irma Krieger with her twin sister Janet Krieger Smalls. Linda passed away on October 23, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
Linda was predeceased by her loving parents Morris and Irma, and her brother-in-law Richard Smalls. She will forever be remembered with endless love by those she has left behind, including her partner and husband for the past 27 years, David and his son Brian. She leaves behind her daughter Rebecca and her son-in-law James. Former husband and friend, Stewart Dahn. Neice Margo Smalls and nephew Daniel Smalls. Daughters-in-law Susan Kelly and Rosaria Vento. Grandchildren Grace Ellen Soto, Maxstan and Makena Cleveland and many more extended family and dear friends.
Linda was born in Brooklyn, NY, then her family moved to Middletown NY, to the home she continued to live in and love until the day she passed. She graduated college from SUNY Albany with degrees in social work and Spanish, which she proudly used throughout her 30 years working at Orange County Social Services. During her career, Linda was respected by all and believed in showing respect and compassion to everyone she encountered.
Linda was blessed with the most loving compassionate and generous spirit that was extended to not only her family and friends but TRULY ALL with whom she interacted with. She would GIVE first, before she would RECEIVE, never expecting anything in return. She found pleasure in generosity when meeting the overall needs that someone had. This quality was so profound in her that she often brought gifts to her family on her own birthday, “Just like a Hobbit!”, as Linda would say.

Phyllis started her career as a reservation manager at the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan, NY. In 1975, the family relocated to Monticello, NY. Phyllis continued her career as a reservation manager at the Raleigh Hotel, Concord Hotel, and The Homowack.
Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, Max and Gertrude Rosen; sister Elenor Rosen; husband, Martin Hoffman. Phyllis is survived by her children Jacqueline and Alan Hoffman; grandchildren, Jordan Hoffman, Maxine Hoffman Fodor and husband Stefan; and great-grandchildren Marley and Riley.
A graveside service will take place on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at 11:00am at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery, 171-181 Sunset Lake Road, Liberty, NY.
The family will sit Shiva following the funeral and the following two days. Visitors are welcome to join from 1pm to 7pm.

Myrna Lieberman, 82, of Manhattan, NY passed away peacefully on September 8, 2023.
The most giving, genuine daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and cousin, left us all.
Myrna was born on November 4, 1940, to Fred and Jeanette Weinberger of the Bronx. She and her late husband, David Lieberman, resided in Pelham Parkway of the Bronx for 45 years and together raised their four children.
Myrna is survived by her son, Paul Lieberman, and his wife Jodi ( Jill and Harrison Remler, Joshua and Jeremy Lieberman); her daughter Lori Zollo and her husband Lou ( Sam, Isabelle and Rebecca Zollo); her son Eddy Lieberman and his wife Barbara ( Jake, Max and Ben Lieberman); and her son Michael Lieberman ( Zachary and Noah Lieberman). She will be forever remembered by her eleven grandchildren and her beloved sister Linda Navarro.
Myrna was employed as an executive assistant at Gibson Graphics in New York City. After retirement, Myrna enjoyed reading to the elderly who needed company. She volunteered in hospitals to rock and soothe young infants.
She also enjoyed playing mahjong, babysitting, needlepointing, reading, shopping, and taking many excursions with her children and grandchildren.
Her legacy will carry on forever; reminding us to treat everyone genuinely. Her greatest gift was when her entire family got together; they all were the light of her life. Myrna touched many lives so gently. She will be truly missed and will never, ever be forgotten. She has imprinted us all.
A graveside service will take place on Sunday, September 10, 2023, for the immediate family at the Parksville Synagogue Cemetery, Lilly Pond Road, Parksville, NY with Rabbi Hillel Grossman officiating.
