Obituary Preview: Hill, Vivian “Sue”, 74, was born November 25, 1949 to parents Francis “Bill” L. Horsman and Mary Joan (Head) Horsman in Louisville, KY. She passed away peacefully at home with family and friends present after a courageous battle against cancer.
She attended Holy Name grade school, graduated from Presentation Academy, and also attended the University of Louisville.
Sue retired form PNC Bank after 27 years. She also worked at UPS and was the Bookkeeper at Holy Name Church. Sue was a devout Catholic, a lifetime member of Holy Name, a Eucharistic Minister, and Lecter. She was even nominated for the Bell Award.
Sue was a tremendous athlete, coach, high school and college basketball official and volleyball official. She was an avid pickleball player and was an avid runner even into her 60’s.
Sue was a loving wife, mother, nana to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, sister, and a friend to all who knew her. Sue touched the lives of numerous people in the community as a counselor, advisor, confidant, and friend. She is even responsible for 3 generations of Louisville Police Officers.
To know her was to love her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 angel grandchildren, and 1 angel great grandchild.
Left to cherish Sue’s memory is her best friend and loving husband of 56 years, Don Hill; children Donny (Missy), Dee-dee (Wade), and Chris (Tammy); 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; 4 sisters; 2 brothers; and countless friends and extended family.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:30 am Wednesday at Holy Name Catholic Church, 2913 S. 3rd St., with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 pm Tuesday at Joseph E. Ratterman & Son Funeral Home, 7336 Southside Dr.
To continue her life of service, Sue has requested in lieu of flowers, donation should be made to Holy Name Catholic Church and St. Jude Children’s’ Hospital.
Sue’s family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses at the Chemo Center and especially to the Hosparus nurses and Doctor.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Shirley Southwood; daughter, Tonya Bormann (Tom); son, Marty Southwood; grandchildren, Ryan Bormann (Ashley), Troy Southwood, Jordan Bormann (Beth Anne), Justin Southwood, and Jaylee Southwood; 2 great grandchildren, Graeme and Gavin Bormann; and sisters-in-law, Carolyn Davis, Barbara Ramsey (Jimmy), and Marlene Baker (Keith); along with many nieces and nephews.

A lifelong resident of Louisville, Kentucky, Amy attended Ahrens Trade School where she received training to become a legal assistant. After graduating from Ahrens, she pursued a career as a legal assistant for the Segal Law Firm. She worked diligently until her retirement, finding her greatest joy in spending time with her husband, daughters, and grandson, as well as in activities such as bowling, playing bingo, and observing wildlife. Amy had an unwavering commitment to her family and took great pride in her children and grandson. She will always be remembered for her sweet smile, the stories she loved to tell, her laughter at silly jokes and puns, and the overwhelming sense of love that emanated from her presence.
Amy was preceded in death by her father, William Lankford, and sister, Nancy Lankford. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Anthony Kennedy; daughters, Angela Yates and Allison Kennedy; grandson, Anderson Yates; mother, Jo An Lankford; brothers, Philip (Bonnie), Alan (Betty), and Tommy Lankford; and sister, Linda Griffey (Rick).

Bernard Joseph Smith - April 17, 1934 - April 16, 2024

Obituary Preview: Bernard Joseph Smith was born on April 17, 1934, in County Cavan, Ireland to Lizzie and Bernard Smith. He died on April 16, 2024, the day before he would have turned 90.
He moved to the United States in 1954. He served in the U.S. Army from January 15, 1957 to January 8, 1959.
Bernie lived in Louisville for most of his adult life, and retired from Sealtest Dairy there. He was an accomplished astronomer and built telescopes to watch the night sky. He was an avid tennis player. He had quite a collection of opera and classical music. He loved animals and cared for the birds in his yard.
Bernie’s final years were at Rose Mary Brooks Place in Winchester.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Barbara Wachter, and her family, who continued to consider him a relative.
Funeral mass will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winchester on Monday, April 22 at 9:30 a.m., followed by burial at Camp Nelson.
His friends Joe and Stella Ratterman of Ratterman Funeral Home in Louisville are in charge of the arrangements.

Keith Joseph King - September 15, 1944 - April 04, 2024

Keith was born September 15th, 1944 in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, to the late Henry and Eva King.
He was an Army veteran, meeting his future wife on a blind date while stationed in Fort Knox, KY, and later began his married life in Louisville, KY. He had found employment with a trucking company, McLean Trucking, which was at the time the fifth largest trucking company in America, and worked there until 1986 when the company disbanded. He later worked at Metal Center, a metal recycling facility, in the front office as well as working a part-time management position at The Outer Limits, a small family fun park at the former site of Louisville Motor Speedway on the Outer Loop, which fit right in with his love of NASCAR.
Keith was an avid Green Bay Packers fan as well as a NASCAR fan, especially driver, Mark Martin. In his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, keeping his lawn immaculate, relaxing at a friend’s farm on the weekends fishing and bow hunting, and spending time with his family. Known as “The Scroll-Sawer”, he attended many church and school festivals where he found a market for his scroll saw talents, selling his various custom made woodworking items.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Henry and Eva. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sherry Crowe King; children, Anthony (Anna), Tammy King Allgier, Amanda, and Megan; and grandchildren Jackie, Kenzie, Nathan, Brendan Allgier, Lanie Allgier, brothers Wayne (Barb) and Bruce (Beth) and sister Linda (Bill) as well as multiple friends and family members including nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be 2 – 7 p.m. Thursday April 11th, 2024 at Joseph E. Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 7336 Southside Dr., followed by a brief funeral ceremony at 7 p.m.

Steve was quiet but very respectful with his words and his ability to solve problems. He started his HVAC career at 18 yrs old, and after several years owned his own company, Cape Air Conditioning and Heating.
Some of his favorite things to do were going out on his boat at Dale Hollow Lake and spending time with his family and close friends.
Steve had the respect of everyone he knew. He was known for his expertise, generosity and kindness. He will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved son, Steve “Sean” Cape (Molly); precious granddaughters, Carly and Chloe Cape; brother, Doug Cape (Patti); loving girlfriend of 29 years, Jeanne Portman; and several very close friends he treated like family.
His service will be held Monday, April 1st at 7 p.m. at Joseph E. Ratterman & Son, 7336 Southside Dr. Visitation will be held from 2-7 p.m.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce that another angel gained their wings and we gained another guardian angel. On Thursday, March 21, 2024, our mother passed surrounded by her daughters. She was a woman that gave us strength and always had our backs; she taught us independence; showed us the meaning of unconditional love; and always had her arms open when we needed her.
She was a beloved mother and grandmother and brought joy to anyone she crossed paths with. Victoria was a retired teacher from Jefferson County Public Schools; where she taught Math for 20 plus years. She enjoyed the impact she was able to provide for many of her students over the years and she never forgot a face.
Victoria was preceded in death by her parents, Dominic and Ruth Bell Jr. and her niece, Nikki Bell.
She was survived by her daughters, Erin Herndon (Adam) and Sara Schuler; grandchildren, Harper and Parker Herndon; brothers, Dominic Bell III (Karen) and Salvatore “Sal” Bell; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Kate is survived by her sons, Michael (Mary) and John (Lynda); and daughter, Julia Heuser (Leonard). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Dr. Nick Mattingly (Heather), Matt Mattingly (Dana), Beth Mattingly, Michelle Hedges, Chris Logsdon (Stacey), Maria Miller (Aaron), Kara Smith (Adam), and Dan Logsdon (Silpa Varanasi); great-grandchildren, Madilyn Potter, Noah and Emma Hedges, Gabbi and Ben Mattingly, Grant and Nora Mattingly, and Caleb and Natalie Logsdon.
Also surviving are her sisters, Elizabeth Browning (Mike-dec), Trudy Strickland (Charles), and Berni Thompson (Dennis); and many nieces and nephews.

Ann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend to all who knew her. She was a charter member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, she loved playing cards, watching the Kentucky Wildcat’s basketball, but most of all her family was her life and she devoted her time and love spending it with them. She was loved by all.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert “Boe” Becker, Jr.; her parents, Theodore “Teddy” and Jennie (Hardesty) Frank; sisters, Janet (Elroy) Stout, Joyce (Joe) Spencer.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Laura Cecil (Pius), Bert (Kelly Smith), Carol Ralph (David); Katie Myers (Rich); grandchildren, Bridget Yurt (Tony), Rachel Maguire, Sean Maguire (Paige), Jessica Grooms (Ryan), Nicole Melton (Jonathon), Alyssa Schueler (Dillon), Kevin Ralph, Beau Becker, Madison Myers, Dylan Myers, Grace Becker; great-grandchildren, Will Yurt, Colin Yurt, Jacob Yurt, Hudson Maguire, Matthew Yurt, Avery Maguire, Nolan Melton, Isabelle Grooms, Camden Grooms, Cooper Melton, Grayson Grooms, and Spencer Melton.
Her funeral Mass, celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 11 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 7335 Southside Dr., with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Her visitation will be 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 10 at Joseph E. Ratterman & Son Funeral Home, 7336 Southside Drive.

Dolin was a proud graduate of DeSales High School, a member of Midnighter’s Auxiliary Club, and later the Schnitzelburg softball team. He loved the Derby, spending time with his friends at the Post, a good fish sandwich, playing golf, and a good laugh.
Dolin was an avid University of Kentucky fan, but an even bigger fan of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchild.
Dolin passed away peacefully on March 6, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Joyce, and an infant sister Joan. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who knew him. Cremation was chosen and entrusted to Joseph E. Ratterman & Son Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Betty is survived by her daughter, Sheryl Elzy (Mike); 6 grandchildren, David Johnson, Lauren Wheatley (Bobby), Elizabeth Vaughn (Jason), Amy Johnson, Sarah White (Bobby), and Kara Goodin (David); and 6 great-grandchildren who brought her so much joy in her later years, Kiley, Rayna, Katelynn, Cash, Emmalin, and Logan.
She is also survived by 2 sisters, Cornelia Price and Jane Auerweck, her traveling partner and favorite visitor; sister-in-law, Helen Baker, whom she loved like a sister; lots of nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
