William Jennings Revels - August 25, 1986 - April 18, 2024

Departed: 04/18/2024 (Palatka)
Obituary Preview: William Jennings Revels IV was born on August 25, 1986 and entered this world a big boy at nine pounds, 10 ounces—so it’s no wonder he ended up at six foot, seven inches and 265 pounds. Jay had a great life and he loved his huge family. He loved farming, hunting, woodworking—and believe it or not, he loved to shop (at least for himself). As we all know, Jay was a daredevil and wasn’t scared of much. He loved to put his truck—or anyone else’s for that matter—in the mud. If Jay was around, you were guaranteed to laugh. He could tell a story like no one else and if you never heard the story about the fight between the two gay guys in the prison shower with Jay stuck in the middle of it all, then you likely missed the biggest laugh ever. Jay had a heart of gold, and was always generous. There was more than once he called his mom asking her to put canteen money for some random guy that he barely knew because Jay felt bad for them. If that didn’t work he would just feed half the jail with his own food. Jay fit in anywhere he was and was loved by everyone. He will be sorely missed by his surviving family.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Tisha Jo Revels.
He is survived by his father, Billy Revels, mother, Karen Revels, brother, Travin Robinson, Christina), sisters, Billie Jo Revels (John Merchant), Kalyn Mare Gailor (Alex), grandfather, William J. Revels, II (Brenda), aunts, Cathy Sheffield, Kay Bybee, and Tina Huskey (Mitchell), uncles, Mike Revels (Wendy), Ronnie Revels (Kim), Tony Revels (Tracy), Jon Revels (Jeni) and Trenton Carnes (Kaylee) as well as numerous cousins.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Pastor Willie B. McKinnon, III officiating. Burial will follow in Palatka Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka from 5:00pm – 7:00pm.
Flowers are gratefully accepted or memorial donations may be made to S.A.F.E. Pet Rescue of Putnam County, 112 Norma Street, Palatka, FL 32177.
