Obituary Preview: Sharon Seldin Bachman, 56 of Wall passed away Monday, November 8th peaceful at home with her family after dealing with health complication for the past year.
She survived by her dedicated husband of 33 years Kenneth Bachman. She was a lovely mother to her two children Jenifer Bachman (Andrew Teahl), Matthew Bachman(Iesha Bachman) and second mom to many other children throughout the years. She spent most of her life in Fair Haven and was proud to be from there until she met her husband and moved to Wall. She worked in retail most of her life including helping her mother run the family jewelry store Pandora’s box in Wall for many years.
Sharon was predeceased by her parents Raymond Seldin and Thelma Abramowitz Seldin, and by her sister Elizabeth Seldin Supple and brother Robert Seldin.
She also survived by her beloved dog Boots. She also leaves behind two sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law and many other family and friends who will miss her deeply.
Family and friends are invited on Friday, November 12th from 5pm-6pm for a small service at Johnson-McGinley Funeral Home in Wall, NJ. A private cremation will follow.

Born in Jersey City to the late Evelyn and Emil Dumund, Emily graduated Holy Family high school in Bayonne, NJ and nursing school in Kingston, NY.
She moved to the shore in 1972 and continued a long career in obstetric nursing at Jersey Shore Medical Center. She was proud to be a nurse and very conscientious in serving her patients with dignity, respect, and true compassion.
Emily was a special mother and grandmother, and her legacy will impact us for years to come.

Obituary Preview: Wilhelmina Dawn Marra (Porter), 73, passed away on July 10, 2021 at Southern Ocean Medical Center. She was the wife of surviving spouse Donald Mulcock and deceased spouse Anthony Marra. Wilhelmina shared 19 loving years with Donald and 29 years with Anthony.
Wilhelmina was born on January 4, 1948 in Whitesboro, New York. Daughter of Francis Porter and Henrietta Laura Porter (DiAndrea), and sister to Sandra, Irene, Debra, Diedrick, Adrienne, Honora, Nedra, Katrina. She attended The State University of New York earning a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Wilhelmina started her accounting career working for Price Waterhouse in New York City then continued-on to Coast Honda before retiring in Sea Girt, New Jersey.
Wilhelmina was a member of Saint Veronica and Saint Rose Parish, and a proud sponsor of St. Jude Children’s Cancer Research Hospital. She enjoyed crafting as a hobby and loved spending time by the beach. She will be admired and remembered as a strong, loyal, dedicated, loving mother and wife.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by surviving husband Donald Mulcock, daughter Kendra Marra, and step grandchildren- Elizabeth, Sarah and Emily Mulcock. She was predeceased by Anthony Marra.
In honor of Wilhelmina, a memorial service will be held on July 16, 2021 at ten o’clock am at Saint Rose Roman Catholic Church immediately followed by mass; 603 7th Ave, Belmar, NJ 07719 with interment at Saint Anne’s Cemetery.
It is Wilhelmina’s wish memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Cancer Research Hospital in lieu of flowers.

Carla worked at Jersey Shore Medical center for over 20 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to many. Anyone who had ever met her would agree she never had a problem communicating exactly how she felt. Her brash but loving personality will always resonate in the hearts of the many lives she's touched. Carla loved caring for animals in the community, playing and face-timing with her granddaughter Talulah as often as she could, and of course the occasional day trip to Atlantic City.
Carla is survived by her husband Martin Barry, daughters Athena Humeniuk and Sabra Spannos, son Martin Barry, granddaughter Talulah Mayhew, mother Naomi Neukam and brothers David and Steven Neukam. Carla was predeceased by her brother Danny Neukam and sister Sherry Arvin.

She enjoyed chatting with the people as they came to enjoy the beautiful seaside in Avon. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother whose greatest passion was helping
others. Yvonne is predeceased by her husband, James Thomas Gagen ( Arlington National Cemetery, DC), surviving are her daughter, Venisse Gagen-Delle Monache of Fairfield; a son, Thomas S Gagen of Howell; two beloved grandchildren, Terese and Gregory Gagen, Norway; a son-in-law, Don Delle Monache, and a
brother-in-law, John Gagen of Avon. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held on a future date at St. Elizabeth’s Roman
Catholic Church in Avon-by-the-sea.

Laurence E French - September 22, 1943 - May 06, 2021

Obituary Preview: LAURENCE EUGENE FRENCH, 78, died Thursday, May 6, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Laurence was born September 22, 1943 in the Belmar Gardens section of Wall Township, New Jersey. Father, Oliver, died when Mr. French was 5 years old. Mr. French had a lifetime of memories of working with his father in their Victory Garden.
Mr. French contracted Polio soon thereafter. This would be a turning point in his life. With the persistent help of his mother, Helen, and Monmouth Medical Center, Mr. French was almost free of side effects 18 months later.
Mr. French was active in student government, becoming a leader in grammar school and high school student organizations. He was part of a small group in 1959 that helped select the new Wall High School’s colors (crimson & blue) and the school’s nickname Crimson Knights.
During high school and college years, he worked with his brother Robert’s construction company operating backhoes and bulldozers.
Mr. French was fortunate due to his academic achievements to have won scholarships for tuition, books and expenses for Newark College of Engineering. As a Brother of Tau Kappa Epsilon social fraternity, he secured a position in the college cafeteria, where the pay was three meals a day - the best job on campus.
Because of his interest in math and science, Mr. French knew that he wanted to be an engineer by the sixth grade. In June of 1965, Mr. French graduated #1 in Civil Engineering from Newark College of Engineering. He was a member of the following honor societies: Tau Beta Pi, Chi Epsilon, and Omicron Delta Kappa. Mr. French received his Master of Science in Civil Engineering in 1967. From 1967 to 1971, Mr. French taught Civil Engineering courses at NCE including Structural Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering and was a lay preacher at the West Belmar Methodist Church.
Mr. French gave the graduation speech for the first graduating class of Wall High School in 1961. He was President of the Student Council, played varsity football and baseball, and was a member and President of the National Honor Society.
Mr. French was also working in the consulting engineering field, first with the NJ Department of Transportation, then Edwards & Kelsey (Newark) and then with Raamot Associates (Manhattan), providing geotechnical engineering. In 1972 Mr. French opened a branch office of Raamot Associates in Wall Township, which became Raamot Associates PA and he was the Principal of the firm. Work-related projects of note include:
the geotechnical engineering for the world’s largest liquid natural gas tanks for Distrigas Staten Island; rock slope design for Interstate 280 in West Orange; foundation design for numerous high-rise buildings in the metropolitan area; design of the thoroughbred racetrack at Monmouth Park Jockey Club, and as the Principal-in-Charge of Civil & Geotechnical Engineering for the Las Vegas Sands Casino in Bethlehem PA.
Also of note, Mr. French was the first geotechnical engineer to design a major project in China in 1979 after diplomatic relations between the USA and China had been achieved.
In 1974, in conjunction with Mr. Argo Parrello, a longtime friend from college days, what is now known as French & Parrello Associates, Consulting Engineers, was formed. Mr. French was Chairman-of-the-Board.
Mr. French is survived by his wife of 39 years, Joanne; two brothers, Robert (Claire), and John (Debbie), two sons, Drew (Jill) and Adam (Megan), two daughters, Elyse Mohler (Kevin) and Lauren Homel (Stewart), and eleven grandchildren Dillon, Justin, Lauren, Brandon, Camryn, Brooke, Jackson, Derek, Elliot, Amelia and Emma.

Eva, one of 10 children is survived by her daughter Tina and Marc Kamen, her son Ed (Scott) Geiger, Sue Pierce. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; brothers David and Sammy; sisters Goldie, Jean and Dot.
Eva was a former member of the So Belmar (Lake Como) and Wall Twp Ladies Fire Auxiliaries. Both she and her deceased husband Bill Fenton volunteered countless hours with both fire departments.
One of Eva’s greatest joys was spending quality time with her loved ones.
Eva is predeceased by her husband William T Fenton Jr, son Vincent J Geiger, siblings Eutimio, Ray, Mary and Emma.
Funeral services will be private.

Over his forty-four years in business, he acquired over 30 patents for different medical devices. Aside from inventing life saving devices that saved countless lives, he also excelled in the sport fishing world. He competed in a wide variety of tournaments all throughout the world, winning many of them! He also enjoyed the world of show jumping. One of his favorite horses he owned was Noren, who was horse of the year in 1982. Of all of his accomplishments, he was most proud of his family — he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Adam was predeceased by his mother, Frances, and father, Albert, his son, Brent, and his wife, Charlene. He is survived by his two daughters, Blythe Sanford and Shanna Luzzi, his son-in-law, Jeff Luzzi, his grandchildren, Siobhan Sherbovich, and her husband George, Alexa Luzzi, Colt Luzzi, and his great grandchildren, Maya and Brayden Sherbovich.

Jim attended Saint Michael's High School and worked his way through college as a young father to graduate from Saint Peter's College in Jersey City. Jim's career spanned decades working in the pharmaceutical industry - he ultimately retired from GlaxoSmithKline.
Jim was pre-deceased by his loving wife Geraldine Sullivan O'Brien to whom he was married for 48 years, his sister Dorothy O'Brien Carroll and his daughter-in-law Maureen Holmes O'Brien.
Jim is survived by his four children, Jim Jr., Kevin and wife Alisa, Tracey (Owens) and husband Steve, David and wife Karen, six very special grandchildren, Mary Kathleen and husband Matt, James Patrick (JP), Kelly, Erin, Jade and Connor, his siblings: Bill, Jean, Marilyn, Dan and wife Elaine, Rosemary and many nieces and nephews.
Jim loved spending time with family and friends at his many Sunday dinners and at his annual holiday get-togethers. He enjoyed traveling, finding new restaurants and dancing and listening to music with his friend and companion Jane.
Jim was a great dad, grandfather, uncle and brother. He was an example of hard work and perseverance. His energy and steadfastness will continue to be an inspiration to all who came to know him.

Born on December 26, 1951 to Richard and Elizabeth (Applegate) Walker, Barb graduated from Wall High School in 1970 and Brookdale Community College in 1974 as a Registered Nurse. She worked at Monmouth Medical Center until 1996 and later retired as a Medical Claims Supervisor from High-Point/Plymouth Rock Insurance in 2013. Barb was an active member and past president of the Glendola Fire Company’s Ladies Auxiliary.
Barb was married for 48 years to the love of her life, George Straehle, Jr. A loving and generous person with a contagious laugh, she had a passion for helping others and lived for family time camping, hosting holidays, and relaxing with her dog Molly on the front porch. Anyone who spent time with Barb knew that she adored her grandchildren more than anything in the world. She looked forward to her annual vacations with her husband in Key West or Walt Disney World. A lifelong resident of the shore, she loved having her feet in the sand and a cold drink in her hand.
Barbara is survived by her husband George; daughter Marcia, her husband Robert Allen and their children Justin and William; son George, his wife Cathy and their children GJ and Lily; mother-in-law Helen; and her sisters Cathie and Carol, their husbands, children, and grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the many family members and friends for their generosity and expressions of love. They ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Barbara’s name to the charity of choice.

As a civilian, James worked for NJ Bell/Bell Atlantic/AT&T/Lucent/Verizon for 42 years. He was a member of the Manasquan Elks BPOE 2534, VFW Post 1838 and American Legion Post 348. His greatest accomplishments were his children and his service to the country. He was a devout Roman Catholic and parishioner at St. Dominic's of Brick, NJ where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He thoroughly enjoyed pull tab games and savoring every meal.
He was predeceased by his mother, father, son Kevin M. Turiano, sisters Florence Kilmartin and Angela Turiano, and two nieces Brittney L. Kilmartin and Kayla L. Turiano.

He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Obituary Preview: Obituary - John Snyder Holmes John Snyder Holmes, age 93 of Manahawkin, NJ, died Sunday, September 29, 2019 at his home. Born in Cobleskill, NY in 1925, John grew up in Downsville, NY. John enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942, and proudly served on the destroyer USS Charles S. Sperry (DD-697) as one of its first crew in the South Pacific. In 1946, John entered the U. S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, and was part of the graduating class of 1950. Upon graduation from the Academy, he began a naval career in which he served aboard numerous ships in numerous leadership positions, including assignments with the
Pentagon and three deployments to Vietnam. Notably, John was Commanding Officer of the USS Traverse County (LST-1160), deployed to the Caribbean during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He commanded the USS Edson (DD- 946) off Diamond Head, HI, and was deployed to Vietnam, where the Edson took hostile fire and was awarded the “Top Gun Award” by the US Marines as well as the Meritorious
Unit Citation by the US Navy while under his command. While in the Navy, he earned a BS degree in Aerology, a combination of Meteorology and Oceanography, at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterrey, CA, and served as a Meteorological Officer in Camberley, England, forecasting weather for a Navy Flight
Squadron. John retired from the US Navy with the rank of Commander, having received numerous awards including Legion of Merit, Bronze Star with Combat V, and the Navy Commendation Medal. He subsequently joined the Merchant Marines and became a Port Pilot for San Pedro Bay (CA) and the Port of Los Angeles. He piloted more than 3,000 ships, including passenger ships (the QEII among them) and container/cargo ships
of every description. After retiring as a Port Pilot, John joined American Hawaii Cruises out of Honolulu, HI, as Relief Master for the SS Independence and SS Constitution, later becoming Master of the
SS Constitution. He was a member of the American Maritime Officers Union. After retiring the third time, John remained active with many interests, including sculpting, travel and visiting the many friends he made around the globe and close to home. He was a generous friend to many, loving father to McKay Holmes of Cypress, CA, Matthew Holmes of Issaquah, WA, and Camberley Holmes Bates of Boulder, CO, and ​ doting husband and partner to Carmela E. Bond Holmes of Manahawkin. He is also
survived by six grandchildren, of whom he was enormously proud. Private interment of ashes will take place at Paige Cemetery, Downsville, NY at a later
date. The family of John S. Holmes greatly appreciates the many expressions of condolence from those who knew John. In honor of John, donations may be made in his name to the Saginaw Valley Naval Ship Museum in Bay City, MI, which is the home of the USS
