Billy was preceded in death by his father, Frank W. Tussing, Jr. He is survived by his mother, Virginia "Paula" Tussing, and his three sons, Alex, Adam, & Damon Tussing; as well as a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Billy was an avid sports fan and huge Pittsburgh Steelers Fan. His other interests included golf, video games, UVA football and other UVA sports, and visiting the beach. Obituary Preview: J. Brian "JB" Woodcock of Cedar Lane Farm, Sunnyside Road, Unionville, passed away peacefully at Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg, at the age of 89.  He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Vivian Woodcock, brother, George Woodcock, and son, Jimmy Woodcock.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Eileen; his daughter, Terry Graham (Jimmy); three grandchildren, Brad, Ryan(Shannon), and Jessica (Rob); great-grandchildren, Kailey, Adryan, Kitt, Devin, and Braden; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
JB loved God, family, and the farm.
A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at Johnson Funeral Home, Locust Grove.  Interment will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at Culpeper National Cemetery, Culpeper, Va.

Theresa M. Beggs, age 91, passed away at home in the early morning hours on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. Theresa Martha Nickolay was born on January 26, 1933 to Albert and Mary Ann (Orient) Nickolay in Upper St. Clair Township of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Mount Pleasant Township High School in Hickory, PA, where she greatly enjoyed basketball and home ec. Theresa was an avid fan of Pittsburgh sports, a 4H leader, and a sewing enthusiast. Theresa was devoted to her small parish, St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Stoneboro, PA, for many years.
Theresa's family lovingly referred to her as "Nutsy Grandma", a title she embraced after earning it because of her love for fun, colorful designs and her quirky expressions. Theresa was an exceptionally hard worker, especially on her family's farms through the years. Her great love for animals was unmatched, particularly her love for horses, bunnies, and birds, and this particular trait has been passed down in the family's generations.
Theresa is survived by her daughter, Shirley (Carl) Lambert and her grandchildren: Darcie (Aaron) Caine, Joel Lambert, Alex (Megan) Lambert, Danielle (Ethan) Sleezer, Holly (Andrew) Foglesong, and Cara (Jacob) Hoppel. Additionally, Theresa is survived by seven great-grandchildren, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.
Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donald Beggs, her son, Robert Gehres, her daughter-in-law, Mary Gehres, and her six siblings: Albert Nickolay, Joseph Nickolay, Mary Ann Gallagher, Catherine Lakomy, Genevieve Pavlic, and Bernard Nickolay. The last of the Nickolay sisters, who were close-knit, all passed into eternal life within days of one another: Genevieve (Gen) on April 8th and Catherine (Kitty) on April 2nd.

Obituary Preview: Robert Atwood Alsop, 84, of Spotsylvania, passed away at Dogwood Village Health and Rehab on Sunday, April 14, 2024. Bobby was the son of the late Charles and Annie Alsop. He met the love of his life, his late wife Jean Herring Alsop, who already had 3 little princesses who he considered daughters. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Fanny A. Eure and brother, Thomas C. Alsop.
Bobby enjoyed farming and horseback riding on his faithful, trusty steed Traveler. He briefly served in the US Army and later retired from White Oak equipment, having worked on heavy and farm equipment. He was often sought for his mechanical expertise; however, his favorite equipment was the antique John Deere.
Always kind, patient, and the rock of the family after his father’s death, his family returned that love, care and support filling his days with all things good, joyful, and meaningful to him. He was always ready to step up and put his family first. Never looking for praise, it was what he did with a happy heart.
He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Robert A. Alsop, II; three step daughters Mary Ann Myers (Heath), Pamela Minter (Richard), and Cynthia Thomas; four sisters, Anna Bell, Mary Hopkins, Elaine Hammond (Wayne) and Laura Rowe (Edward); 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; multiple nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He loved matching wits with his nephews, but the little relatives were special to him.
Special thanks to staff and caregivers at Dogwood Village Health and Rehab, Orange, Virginia, for their loving care and support and to his faithful friends who visited.

Loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mary Bliss Brockelsby Smith. He is survived by his children Charles W. Smith III MD, John Douglas Smith, and Susan Smith Karageorges; grandchildren, Andrew Smith (Stacy), William Smith (Emily), Charles W. Smith IV DDS (Brittany), Lawrence Smith (Schaelyn), Adam Smith (Najah), Ashley Smith (Maddie), Danielle Smith (Nui), and Nicole Karageorges; and great-grandchildren, Finley, Charles W Smith V, Gabriel, Laremie, Kawika, Kawehi, and Kawena. He is additionally survived by daughter-in-law, Sarah Smith and son-in-law, Nick Karageorges; Charles was also preceded in death by his sister, Sally Brownlee and is additionally survived by sisters, Nancy Biehl, Sandra Smith, and Suzanne Smith, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Captain Smith was a 26-year career serviceman and naval aviator, having served in the U.S. Merchant Marine, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Navy, and U.S. Marine Corps. Having accumulated a total of 5,614 accident-free flight hours, his last tour of duty was with HMX-1 as Presidential Helicopter Aircraft Commander, serving Presidents Johnson and Nixon, as well as Vice President Agnew. He was especially proud of family members who followed in his footsteps, granddaughter Ashley Smith, formerly a staff sergeant with U.S. Air Force, and nephews, Michael Owen, formerly a sergeant with U.S. Marine Corps and Lieutenant William Garske, U.S. Navy.

Charles Singhas Yates - November 16, 1934 - April 09, 2024

Obituary Preview: On Tuesday, April 9, 2024, Charles (Charlie) Singhas Yates, 89, of Spotsylvania, VA, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by family.
Charlie was born on November 16, 1934 in Washington, D.C., at Sibley Hospital, the son of Charles F. Yates and W. Ruth Singhas. He attended George Washington High School in Alexandria where he worked at his uncle’s gas station each day after school.
Charlie graduated from Shepherd University in 1956 with a degree in Economics. Twice voted president of his fraternity, Zeta Sigma, Charlie also served as class president during his senior year. While at Shepherd, Charlie married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Jacqueline Stratton.
At 23, Charlie passed his CPA exam and soon became a partner with accounting firm Buchannan and Co. He later established his own CPA practice, Yates, Klutz, and Frazier of Alexandria.
In 1984, Charlie was voted Shepherd University Alumnus of the year. Among his many business accomplishments, Charlie served as vice president of Winkler Management Company, where he was involved with the development of shopping centers, apartments, and office buildings. He was also part-owner of Fairfax Sportsplex and helped develop the first automated system for preparation of income tax returns.
Charlie was known for his lifelong love of sports. Whether a spectator or a player, he enjoyed golf, tennis, pickleball, hunting, fishing, and attending college football games. For many years, he and Jacque wintered in Marco Island, Florida, where the climate offered more opportunity to enjoy physical activity and a healthy lifestyle.
Active in his community, Charlie was a longstanding member of his home church, Wilderness Community Church of Spotsylvania. Charlie was also a 32-degree Freemason of the Scottish Rite associated with the Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22. He and his wife, Jacque, have been together for over 70 remarkable years. They raised three children; Debbie, Lee, and Jeff.
Charlie is preceded in death by his beloved sons and grandson, Stuart Lee and Jefferson Stratton Yates, and Stuart Duncan Yates. He is also preceded in death by his sisters, Charlene Watkins and Mary Jean Yates Rowe.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline S. Yates (Stratton), his daughter, Deborah Paxton, his daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Yates, his stepson, Nader (Mary Ellen) Yousefian, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, respectively: Kristie (Jeffrey) Tucker, Michael Paxton, Chad (Jenifer) Paxton, Tiffany (David) Kimberlin, Hannah Yousefian, Elliot (Laura) Yousefian, Braden Yates, and Sarah (Matthew) Absher; and great-grandchildren Elijah, Mattie, Aubrey, Tanner, Little Charlie, Clara, and Launi-Rae.
Charlie is also survived by countless extended family and close friends. He maintained many friendships from his childhood in Alexandria.
He was loyal to his family, friends, and church. A celebration of life will take place in late May. The announcement will be posted on a later date

Pauline, a loving and devoted wife of 55 years, was preceded in death by her husband, William O. Harris, Jr.
She was dedicated to living the life of a farmer’s wife and spent time gardening, canning, crocheting, and being there to assist W.O. and their sons whenever needed on the farm.
She is survived by her children, W.D. and his wife, Sandy, Marie and her husband, Bob Murray, and Sam and his wife, Ellen; her grandchildren, Abbey Harris Koontz(Jake), Stacey Harris Hudson (Brandon), Brandy Harris, and Richard Towell; her great-grandchildren, Ava Jean Hudson, Alaina Taylor Koontz and Cole Dawson Koontz; and her sister, Lois Holland.
Pauline was a member of the Kirk O’Cliff Presbyterian Church, a charter member of the Belmont Club of Women, and served on various farm related organizations.

Forrest Raymond Tinsley - June 29, 1933 - April 04, 2024

Obituary Preview: Forrest Raymond Tinsley (90) passed away on April 4, 2024 at the Culpeper Health & Rehabilitation Center, Culpeper, VA from congestive heart failure. He was born on June 29, 1933 to the late Macy Tinsley and John Jones. Forrest had fond memories of his grandparents Richard and Mary Tinsley with whom he lived until adulthood. Forrest received his education in Hanover County, VA, and grew up singing at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Mechanicsville, VA. He worked miscellaneous jobs in Richmond, VA and Washington, D.C. until his last job where he worked for 27 years at Parkside Hotel Services and received commendations for his dedicated service.
Forrest was a member of the Wanderland Gospel Singers and sang on the radio and at local churches. After retiring in 1995, he and his beloved “Peaches” moved to Fredericksburg, VA. He loved listening to instrumental music and good vocalists. During his residency at Our Father’s House Christian Home in Culpeper, VA, Forrest often praised the Bender family for their singing talents. He frequently stated, “Raymond’s wife [Sharon] could sing all day for me.” Forrest also enjoyed his outings with his Christian Home family while in residence there. Though he never made a big salary, Forrest was pleased that he always had a head for numbers. His friendly and helpful personality netted him big tips which he turned into lucrative investments. Looking back over his life, he was most satisfied about how he managed his money. Some of his most memorable expressions were, “Everything’s Cool:; “You can’t outtalk me, I know a few things”; “I can put something on him”; and the most popular one, “But the key to the point is…”
In addition to his parents, Forrest was predeceased by his wife, Willard Eleanore Broadus Tinsley, to whom he was married for 50 years; his brothers Albert and Andrew Washington, and his stepdaughter Jean Thomas. He is survived by his stepson, Mark Broadus; step-grandsons Jamal Thomas and Sean Broadus (Valerie); one sister-in-law, Gladys Broadus; step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Inurnment will be at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 7458 Academy Drive. One mile from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Mechanicsville, VA 23116.

Obituary Preview: Diane Tamburo went home to the Lord on April 3, 2024. For 63 blissful years she was married to her husband Charles, “Chuck”, with whom she raised five children in Baldwin, New York. Diane was blessed with 5 children, 18 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
In 2000, Diane and Chuck relocated to the community of Lake of the Woods, Locust Grove, Virginia, where Diane was an active member of St. Patricks Roman Catholic Church, faithfully serving in various capacities, including,the Woman’s Auxiliary and Martha’s Helping Hands. Diane, aka Grammy, aka G-Ma, loved her family, and put her love into crocheting blankets for all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Gallivan(Chris) and Diane Thomas (Phil), and her sons, Chuck Tamburo and John Tamburo (Terry).  She was predeceased by her husband, Charles and her son,Joseph.
Visiting hours at Johnson Funeral Home, Locust Grove, Virginia, will be Monday, April 8th from 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm with a Rosary. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 9th at 12:00 noon followed by interment at Culpeper National Cemetery.

Ashby G. Timmons, 88, passed peacefully on Wednesday April 3, 2024, with his two sons by his side. Ashby was born and raised in Orange, Virginia. He retired from Woodberry Forest School, where he worked in the Maintenance Dept. as a painter.
Ashby loved his family, especially his two sons and daughter-in-law. He loved to work in his yard, sit on his front porch, fish, tell jokes and ride to the local store to get his lottery tickets. Ashby was liked and well-loved in the community. He became known around the community as “Pop.” Ashby knew the Lord and is now at home with him and reunited with his wife Barbara, whom he loved so much.
He was preceded in death by wife Barbara S. Timmons and 12 siblings. He is survived by two sons, Stacey L. Timmons and wife Cathy Y. Timmons and son Shawn G. Timmons; 2 siblings Robert Smith and Barbara Williams; 2 step granddaughters Sarah Alexander and Mary Reuss; and 6 step great grandchildren.

Brenda spent her childhood & teen years in Woodbridge, Virginia before moving with her family to Spotsylvania, Virginia. She started her career at General Products, it was here that she met the love of her life Leonard. They had shared a life together for 42 years in Partlow, Virginia.
In November 1992, they adopted their oldest son, L.A., and June 1994 they adopted their second son, Reece. Their two children became their world and kept her busy with many sporting events.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Leonard Alfonzo Norbrey Sr. and two sons Leonard A. Norbrey, Jr. and Reece O. Norbrey. Survivors also include her mother Beverly A. “Beazley” Batton, two siblings Linda D. “Batton” McGowan & Bryon H. G. Batton, Aunt Margot “Batton” Zimmerman and Uncle Stanley Batton and many loving cousins and in-laws that she called siblings. She was preceded in death by her father Hampton "Durwood” Batton.
Brenda was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend. Her love touched many lives over the years and will continue to live in those who had the blessing to experience it.
A visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home, Locust Grove Friday, April 12, 2024, from 11am-12pm with service to follow. Graveside service will be held at Laurel Hill Memorial, Locust Grove following the service. The family will have a celebration of life at her brother’s home following the gravesite service.

He returned to Fredericksburg 20 years ago where he and his wife were very active in Mary Washington ElderStudy.
Whit, known for his warm and loving nature, was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He always wore a smile and had a sparkle in his eyes that endeared him to all who knew him. His presence will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Whit served in the Army and was proud of his military associations.
In his younger years, Whit loved to travel, especially to New England where he and his wife took many trips along with their children.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Eugenia P. Jones; his children Kimberly Jones, Wanda Delew, Heather J Minor, Bryan W. Jones; and his grandchildren Alexandra J McJoynt, Evan and Kailey Delew, and Cameron and Lauren Minor. He was also cherished by his son-in-law Karl Minor.
A ceremony to honor Whit's life will be held at Johnson Funeral Home in Locust Grove, VA, on April 26th at 12:00 followed immediately by interment at the National Cemetery of Culpeper.

Robert “Bob” Noble, a beloved husband, father and brother, died peacefully at home on Thursday, March 28, 2024, home surrounded by his family, including his devoted wife of 65 years, Margaret “Rita” Noble.
Bob was born on December 15, 1936, in Warehouse Point, Connecticut, to John Bartlett and Lena Thompson Noble. He was preceded in death by his son Robbie, his brother Jack Noble, his sister Edna Hills and his parents. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Rita, his daughters Christine Robinson-Boulton (Steve), Maria Recor (David), and son Mark Noble, as well as his siblings Ray, Mary, Ruthie and Charlie. Bob was the patriarch of a fairly large family, of 4 children, 9 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
A Vietnam War veteran, Bob retired from the US Air Force in 1975 after 20 years of service. While stationed in England, he met and married his beloved wife, Rita, from Enniscorthy, County Wexford, Ireland. Following his military career, Bob worked for E-Systems/Raython for 20 years before retiring a second time in 1996.
Bob, a devout catholic, was a 4th degree knight with the Knights of Columbus Council at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. In his younger years Bob coached and umpired youth baseball and soccer. He was an active runner and ran the Marine Corp Marathon in 1987. A true sports enthusiast, he enjoyed playing golf and followed everything from Manchester United soccer to baseball, football, and NASCAR.
A devoted family man, Bob cherished spending time with his loved ones. He and Rita traveled frequently to Connecticut, Florida and to Rita’s hometown in Ireland. One of their most memorable trips was in June 2023, when they spent an entire month in Ireland accompanied by their daughters Christine and Maria, Christine’s husband Stephen Boulton, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, 20 in total.
Bob will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His kindness, humor, and unwavering love for his family will forever be remembered.
A viewing will be held at Johnson Funeral Home in Locust Grove on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 from 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm with rosary at 7 pm. He was employed as a Drywall Mechanic for most of his life. Joe was an avid war buff, enjoyed coin collecting and muzzle loaders. Joe was someone you could always count on to lend a hand and if he did not know how to do something, he would find a way. He had a heart of gold and could always make you laugh.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Roger and Davey, and sister Pam. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Kathy Culbertson; three sons, Scott Culbertson ( Kimberly Rhys), Jason Culbertson ( Lauren Loveridge), and Josh Culbertson (Amanda Jones); as well as two brothers, Terry and Carlos Culbertson, and sister, Patty Klein; grandchildren, Jordan , Taylor, Jared, and Juliana; great-grandchildren, Xavier and LillyAnna; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Linda’s happy places included her church home where she would attend on Sundays, a relaxing day of boating with family and friends on the lake, a spur of the moment trip to West Virginia with a couple of friends, or just a night by the television with her closest fur baby companion.
Linda will forever be missed by her family and friends.
Along with her parents, Linda is also preceded in death by her husband, Herman Eugene Wells; sister, Claudette Jean Jones; and brother, Donald Richard Cox. She is survived by her sister, Patricia Anne Patton and brother, Albert Lewis Cox and his wife, Nancy. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, and extended family members.
A visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. on Monday, March 18, 2024 at Fellowship Baptist Church, Spotsylvania, Va, with a funeral service to begin at 12 p.m. at the church. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers for Linda’s service will include Kevin Patton, Donald Cox, Duke Jordan, Paol Balducci, Ricky Hall, Ethan Lingerfelt, Howard Hager, and Chris Brown.

Mickey graduated from Orange County High School as their school's first state champion for wrestling in 1963 with a wrestling scholarship to Virginia Tech, where he won the Southern Conference. He also received a Bachelor's degree in vocational education. He taught at Woodbridge High School, where he started their wrestling program. He was drafted and served two years in the Army and four years in the Reserves. He went back to teaching for two years at Woodbridge High School and six years at Orange County High School. He then opened and ran his own construction company where he retired in 2021. Mickey was dedicated in all aspects of life, whether it was family, personal, or professional relationships. His admired tenacity for life was, and still is, unmatched.
He was lucky to call Mona Rash-Jarrell the love of his life for almost thirty eight years. He was the loving and proud father of Brian, and Michael Jr.(Tabitha). And brother to Arnold(Glenda), Roger(Mary), and Doris, the best Pawpaw to Brandon(Stephanie), Jonathan(Kayla), Benjamin(Melanie), AnnaBeth, Alec, and Bryce Jarrell. He was the Great Pawpaw to five of his favorite girls. They and many others in the family and community will feel the hole in their hearts for the rest of their earthly lives until they can be reunited in Heaven. He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Virginia Jarrell, brother John, and daughter Sheri.
The Family will receive fellow mourners at 12:00pm on Saturday, March 2, 2024, with a memorial service to begin at 1:00pm at Abundant Life Christian Fellowship, 19103 Brick Church Road Orange, VA 22960. An ardent lover of the performing arts, Bob dedicated years to working with the Lake of the Woods Players community. His talent, charisma, and boundless enthusiasm as a director, actor, manager, and producer of many sold-out shows endeared him to audiences and fellow performers alike, making him a beloved presence both on and off the stage.
