Forrest received his education from Gaston County Schools. He graduated from Cherryville High School, Class of 1986, in Cherryville, North Carolina. Forrest was employed at Travis Knit until it closed. Most recently, he was employed with Walmart, store #5298 in Gastonia, NC.
Forrest had a loving spirit and an infectious smile that would light up the world. He loved to give hugs and treated everyone with respect. Forrest never met a stranger in his life and had a huge heart for NASCAR and Rock-N-Roll.  Forrest also enjoyed participating with the Cherryville New Year Shooters, and was a big big Duke Bluedevils fan.
Forrest leaves fond and loving memories in the hearts of his children, Nicholas Watkins and Alexis Watkins of Cherryville, NC; his father Paul Watkins (Carolyn) of Cherryville NC; a sister, Iris Mills(Johnny) and a brother, Travis Watkins(Tara) all of Gastonia, NC; five aunts, Annie Sue Farley of Gastonia, NC; Betty Jean Patterson, Barbara Ann Harris, Bernice Harris, and Pam Harris all of Cherryville, NC; Nieces and nephews, Tarus Dameron, Taylor Mills, Joshua Watkins, Gavin Fields, Addison Fields, Jackson Chavis, A.J. Chavis, Carli Chavis, Jr. Chavis, and Cameron Watkins; a special friend Miranda Rhodes, and a host of loving cousins and childhood friends.
A celebration of life will be held during a graveside service on Monday, June 1, 2020, 1:00 PM at Zion Hill Baptist Church, Cherryville, NC. Please be mindful of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Marilyn gave her life to Christ at an early age.  She is a former member of Ellis Chapel Baptist Church.  Marilyn worked faithfully with the usher board and hymn choir.
Marilyn was educated in the public schools of Amherst, Virginia.  She retired from Sweet Briar College in Amherst, Virginia.  Marilyn was an easy going person that loved to travel and who loved people.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years Truman Toms Jr., and a sister Carolyn Butler.
She leaves to mourn her daughter Jennifer Toms; son Thomas Toms; four sisters Julia James, Edith Butler, Doris Butler, and Helene Butler; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Obituary Preview: Mr Robert O'Neal Staten Sr., 86, of Shelby, passed away on Friday July 26, 2019 at North Carolina State Veterans Home in Black Mountain, North Carolina.  He was born January 12, 1933 in Newton, North Carolina to the late George Staten and Carrie Wingate Staten.
He worked as a truck driver for Broyhill Furniture in Hickory, NC from 1950 – 1952.  He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953 – 1955 as motor transportation specialist.  He also worked as a private contractor at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio from 1965 – 1992.
O’Neal as he was called was a devoted husband who enjoyed doing things that pleased his wife Beverly.  You could often see them riding around town doing their errands.  He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and going fishing with his wife.  He was a deacon at the House of Prayer as well as a member of the Elks Club both in Dayton, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Beverly Gail Lattimore Staten, and a son Robert O’Neal Staten Jr.
He leaves to cherish fond memories Charles and Tanya Staten of Shelby, North Carolina; Frieda Rink' Walton of Forestville, Maryland; Pamela Gail Sims of Columbus, Ohio; Deborah Elaine Harvey of Tampa, Florida; Johnna and James Wilks of Cincinnati, Ohio; Lisa Marie Staten and Elbert Jefferson of Dayton, Ohio; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church where she was a minister of music, played the piano and was a choir director during her 20 years at Fairview.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Regina Moten.
She is survived by her husband of 17 years Darrell Woods, two sons Breen Roberson (Jovana) and Bobby Dean Roberson; one daughter Jennifer Elizabeth Watkins;  seven grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; one brother Gary Moten; two sisters Margaret Sheppard and Cyn Moten; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Robert enjoyed spending time with his loving wife, family and especially his grandchildren.  He also took pleasure in working out in the yard, cutting grass and if you stopped by you could catch him watching his favorite reruns of Walker Texas Ranger and In the Heat of the Night. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings, his sister Magdalene McCree and a brother David Junior Crank; two grandchildren Candance Tuft and Overseer Steven Brown Sr
He leaves to cherish fond memories his wife Carrie Mae Crank; two sons Robert L. Crank Jr. and David L. He is preceded in death by his mother Vivian Goodlett Chalk and his grandmother Nora Goodlett.
Left to cherish fond memories is his father George Chalk Sr. of Bessemer City, NC; four sisters Priscilla Goodlett of Forest City, NC; Joyce Parks (Charles) of Shelby, NC; Yvonne Degree (Frank) of Lawndale, NC; and Gwendlyn Goodlett of Bessemer City, NC; three brothers Herman Chalk (Janice) of Shelby, NC; Melvin Chalk (Sonya) of Kingstown, NC; and Charles Chalk of Shelby, NC; an aunt who was also his godmother Beatrice Nichols of Shelby, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and a special friend Melvin Whitworth of Shelby, NC.
