She had worked for Duds N' Suds and at one time she ran a small gift shop. She was a very kind and good hearted person. She helped anyone she could. She lived in Hornerstown most of her life. She will be missed very much by her father, children, step-mother and grandchildren. God bless everyone that prayed for her. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a charter member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church and past president of the Ladies Guild. Cheerleading advisor for the school. Member of Coon Ridge Pinochle club, Red Hat Society. She enjoyed bingo, any kind of cards, watching the Steelers and Penguins. Sweet, giving, kind, loving mother and Grammy. Our home had a kickball diamond in the front yard, hosted neighborhood carnivals, Christmas caroling, swimming, water battles, swing set and her famous Easter Egg hunts. Everyone was welcome! She was a caring yet stubborn German, defended and took care of the ignored or lonely. Attended everything the grandchildren were doing and proud of all of us. Taught us the importance of faith. Loved making ceramic Christmas gifts and ornaments also personal calendars for the entire family. At her request, there will be no viewing. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Andrew's Catholic Church on Saturday at 9AM, with Rev. Peter Crowe, as celebrant. Claire did private duty nursing, then worked at the Presbyterian Home and the Lutheran Home in Johnstown. During her many years of nursing Claire's loving care and compassion touched many lives. Claire was a life-ling member of Roxbury St. Paul's United Methodist Church where she served on numerous committees, taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. In her desire to share God's love, she participated in a mission trip to Bolivia and also made numerous trips to the Operation Christmas Child warehouse in Charlotte to help sort and pack shoeboxes. Claire enjoyed singing, taking pictures, going to the movies with her friends, and traveling. She had a large collection of vases from all her travel destinations. Claire had a warm and caring personality. She always had a smile, a greeting, and a word of encouragement for everyone.
