Randall Eugene Cox - March 08, 1950 - April 29, 2024

Departed: 04/29/2024 (Whiteland)
Obituary Preview: Randall Eugene Cox left this earthly world and entered the arms of our Savior on Monday April 29, 2024. Randall was born on March 8, 1950, to Lucille (Lynn) and Lowell Cox in Indianapolis, Indiana and resided in the Indianapolis area for most of his life before moving to Trafalgar in 2000.
A man whose strength, sharp wit, and profound intelligence were unmatched, Randall could engineer, construct, and repair anything, traits which were passed on to his sons, Randall, Stacy, Tracy, and Mitchell, all of whom are incredibly gifted and talented within their respected fields. Randall’s work ethic was admirable, for many years employed by Toyoshima Steel as a maintenance supervisor before finally landing with General Motors Truck and Bus, where he was employed from 1991 until his retirement in 2009. Throughout his entire life, you would find Randall buying, repairing, and selling vehicles – surely reaching somewhere in the thousands.
In his retirement years, Randall spent a great deal of time making memories with family, attending auctions, and tending to his property. He was always willing to haggle for a deal, and often left auctions with items he did not necessarily need, though he would never admit it. It was a deal, and he had a plan, plans that were almost always successful.
On April 28, 2024, Randall was surrounded by his sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom held his hand, and told him what an incredible father and grandfather he had been, the lasting impact he had made on their lives, and that they were thankful for him. In his final moments, he told the family to be sure to love each other and stick together, giving a final “I love you” before falling silent. In the early morning hours of April 29, he breathed his last breath and was finally at peace.
The legacy of Randall lives on in the form of four sons, Randy (Nancy), Tracy (Tina), Stacy, and Mitchell, nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, brothers, cousins, nieces, and nephews. The legacy of Randall lives on in the form of a family, who despite their own busy lives, are dedicated to making memories together, being present for each other, and comforting each other through it all, just as he requested. The legacy of Randall lives on for many generations to come, simply because he lived.
Randall was a noble man, a man of integrity and character, a man of grit. Randall will always be remembered for his jokes, his laugh, and the impact he made on all the people he knew. There will be a lasting void to those left behind from the sting of death. We rejoice in knowing that now he is reunited with those gone before us, his father, Lowell (1987), his son Gregory (1991), his mother, Lucille, (1996), his brother Timothy (2007), his brother Mitchell (2015) and the many other friends and family who have passed on from this life and into the next.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday May 10, 2024, at Christ Indianapolis United Methodist Church (8540 US 31 South Indianapolis, Indiana 46227) starting at 4:00pm until 7:00pm. The family encourages those who have fond memories of Randall to attend the Celebration and share in the joyful life that Randall lived. Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to inform friends, family, and community members of a person's passing, allowing them to pay their respects and offer condolences. They also provide a sense of closure and help to celebrate the life of the deceased.

Who typically writes an obituary?

The responsibility of writing an obituary usually falls on the family members or close friends of the deceased. In some cases, a funeral home or mortuary may assist with writing the obituary.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary should include the person's full name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, hobbies, and any notable achievements. It may also include information about their surviving family members, funeral arrangements, and any charitable donations or memorial services.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary, but it's generally recommended to keep it concise and to the point. Aim for around 100-200 words.
