Obituary Preview: Elizabeth J. “Sue” Pizer, 89, of West Middletown, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024, in Washington Hospital.
She was born on October 26, 1934, in Hickory, daughter of the late Raymond and Emaline Taylor McKuhn.
Sue was a 1952 graduate of Hickory High School and was a member of Grove United Presbyterian Church of West Middletown.
She was a hardworking mother of three. Through the years she worked various jobs in the area in addition to working for Dr. David McCarrell’s Office in Hickory for 10 years and then worked for All-Clad Metalcrafters of Canonsburg for 10 years, retiring in 2008.
Sue loved to be around her family, especially her great grandchildren; they were the light of her life. Sue spent the last 14 years with her loyal dog companion, the late ”Puppy”, whom she is now reunited with.
She enjoyed being outdoors and took great pride in her yard. She spent countless hours pulling weeds and tending to her flowers.
Surviving are three daughters, Judy (Colin) Kelly of Avella, Bonnie Pizer (James Hatfield) of Washington and Susan (Jonathan) Farrer of Burgettstown; three grandchildren, Ashley (Adam) Cummins of Avella, Katelyn (Robert) Silverthorn of Cranberry, Christopher (Stacy) Kelly of McDonald; nine great grandchildren “her munchkins”, Rylan, Kiersten, Colton, Hudson, Maddie, Allie, Jordan, Waylon and Aiden; and two more great grandchildren on the way; a brother, retired Master Sgt. Tom (Laura) McKuhn of St. Augustine, FL.
Deceased in addition to her parents are two brothers, John and James Ray “Sonny” McKuhn.
Friends and family will be received from 11am until 1pm, the time of the service, on Thursday, May 2, 2024 in the Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home Inc., 18 Campbell Street, Avella, PA 15312, with Rev. Terry Lucarelli officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory.

He was born on September 17, 1954 in Washington, PA, son of the late William Stephen and Josephine Pastor Stacko.
Bill was a 1972 graduate of Avella High School, where he was a member of the Future Farmers of America, and worked as a dairy farmer from the time he could walk until they sold the family farm in 1996. He then worked for WL Marcott Drilling of Burgettstown for 26 years.
Bill enjoyed hunting, working, farming, mowing grass and going out to eat breakfast.
Surviving are two sisters, JoAnne (John) Yukevich of Avella, Mary Jeanne Peterson of Burgettstown; nieces, Stephanie, Marissa and Allyson; nephew, Seth; great nephews, Stephen, Shane and Christopher; and great niece, Liliana.
Deceased in addition to his parents are, a sister, Roberta Allison; brother-in-law, Charlie Peterson; and niece Dawn Allison.

Dr. Raymond J. Fioroni - May 27, 1923 - April 17, 2024

Obituary Preview: Dr. Raymond J. Fioroni, 100, of Canonsburg, formerly of Avella, passed away on Wednesday April 17, 2024, with his loving family at his bedside in Paramount Senior Living, Peters Township.
He was born on May 27, 1923, in Avella son of the late Stephen and Louise (Bogo) Fioroni.
Ray lived in Avella with his family until age 12 when the Great Depression forced his parents to move to Carnegie, where he attended Crafton High school. He was proud to work on the railroad at Rook Station on steam engines. At age 18 he was drafted into WWII and served as a Private First Class under General Patton’s U.S. Army. He was assigned to the 633rd Ordinance Bomb disposal unit in Europe from 1943-1945. Ray enriched his family by sharing stories from WWII.
After returning from WWII, Ray attended Slippery Rock University, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education in 1949. After graduation, he returned to his beloved hometown of Avella to begin his teaching career. Dr. Fioroni then attended the University of Pittsburgh where he received a Master’s of Education degree in 1952 and a Doctorate of Education degree in 1973. Dr. Fioroni became Curriculum Director at Avella in 1958 and was named Avella High School Principal in 1961. He served as Superintendent of the Avella Area School District from 1970 until he retired in 1984.
“Coach” loved the football program at Avella. During 1952-1961, while he was the head coach at Avella High School, he turned a losing program into a football powerhouse with 29 consecutive wins and four undefeated seasons in 1957, 1958, 1959 and 1961. In the same years his team the Washington-Greene County Conference championship four times and twice was the WPIAL champion. Ray’s overall record was 69 wins, 14 losses and four ties. In his last five years coaching the Avella Eagles, his teams won 40, lost two and tied twice. Through his tenure at Avella, he coached other athletic programs including basketball, tennis, golf and wrestling. Many former Avella athletes remained in touch with Coach for decades.
Ray received the WPIAL Heritage Award in 2016 and was honored twice as Washington County Coach of the Year by the Knights of Columbus Council 1083 in 1957 and 1961. He had also been inducted into the National Italian-American Sports Hall of Fame and the Italian-American Society of Washington County. In 1965, 1966 and 1967 Ray was also an assistant football coach at Bethany College.
During his career; which spanned 36 years, he had his beloved wife Dena by his side. Ray and Dena (Ottenga) were married on June 12, 1950 and enjoyed fifty years of marriage before Dena passed away October 18, 2000.
In retirement, Ray enjoyed golfing with the “thundering herd” a league from WV and golfing with his wife. Ray and Dena hosted card games with friends and loved to make polenta on winter weekends. Together they made many trips to Florida, South Carolina and Georgia. A lifelong learner, Ray bought a geometry book at age 95 because a high school teacher had given him a low grade. When finished with the book he gave himself an A. Ray enjoyed attending his grandson’s and great grandson’s sporting events. Residing in Canonsburg for the last few years to be closer to his daughter, Ray never forgot his Avella roots.
He was a member of St. Isidore the Farmer Parish (St. Michael Church of Avella) and also attended Mass at Holy Rosary Church in Muse. He was also a member of the Bert C. Siders American Legion Post 643 of Avella.
Surviving Dr. Fioroni are, a daughter Amy (Fioroni) D’Amico; a Grandson, Anthony D’Amico; step-granddaughter, Jonelle (D’Amico) Williams and her husband Drew; two great grandsons, Keegan & Koen Williams; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death in addition to his wife Dena and parents are, two sisters, Ida Fioroni (1917 Spanish Flu) and Mabel (Fioroni) Bonassi; and his son-in-law, Ronald Anthony D'Amico.
Friends and family will be received from 2pm-8pm on, Friday, April 19, in the Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home Inc., 18 Campbell Street, Avella, PA 15312. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at, 10am on Saturday, April 20, in St. Michael Church, 97 Highland Avenue, Avella, PA 15312, with Rev. David Perry officiating. Burial will be in West Point Cemetery, Avella. Full military rites will be accorded graveside.

He was born on October 17, 1994 in Washington, son of Victoria and Donald Hamilton of Avella.
Cody was a 2013 graduate of Burgettstown High School and was currently working as a truck driver for Kohn Trucking in Claysville.
He was a member of the Avella Sportsmen’s Club.
Cody loved his two daughters more than anything and enjoyed every second he spent with them.
He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, kayaking, landscaping, riding ATVs and dirt bikes.
Surviving in addition to his parents are, his fiancée, Amber Marie Scott, with whom he made his home; his daughters, Charlee and Andee Hukill at home; his sister, Ciara Hukill; his brothers, DJ Hamilton, Brandon McFadden and Nicholas (Katie) Speer; his grandfather, Donald E. Harris; his nieces, Lochlynn and Sophia; his nephew, Lucas; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; and his dog, Tank.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1pm-5pm on Saturday, April 27, in the Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home Inc., 18 Campbell Street, Avella, PA 15312, immediately followed by a luncheon at the West Middletown Volunteer Fire Department.

Obituary Preview: Kathleen L. Silhol, 90, of Washington, PA, previously of Bridgeville, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 11, 2024, in her son’s Avella home.
She was born on July 28, 1933, in Montchanin, DE, daughter of the late William and Helen (Slowey) Lowther.
Kathleen grew up in the Bryn Mawr area of Philadelphia and was a graduate of Radnor High School.
In 1955 she married her former husband, the late William E. “Buzzy” Silhol, and relocated to southwestern Pennsylvania.
Kathleen worked as a receptionist at Henderson Brothers Insurance Co. in Bridgeville and then in their Pittsburgh office, retiring after twenty years with the company.
She was a devout Catholic who was a member of St. James Parish (Immaculate Conception Church) of Washington and was a previous member of Holy Child Church in Bridgeville.
Kathleen was the last of her immediate family.
Surviving are three sons, William E. Silhol Jr. of Avella, Arthur (Thelma) Silhol of Pensacola, FL; Michael (Joann) Silhol of Oakdale; six grandchildren, Lindsey, Lauren, Arthur, Michael, Sean and Brett; six great grandchildren, Bella, Braxton, Aubrey, Logan, Maddox and Asher; son-in-law, Terry Morgan of Washington; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to her parents and former husband are, a daughter, Suzi Morgan; a brother, Thomas Lowther; two sisters, Helen Holland and Dorothy Fenyus; and a daughter-in-law, Gail Halmi Silhol. He was born on July 21, 1937, son of the late Frank and Sue Zrimm.
He was a 1955 graduate of Avella High School. On September 2, 1961 he married Karen Malinky, who passed away on March 15, 2021.
He was employed by Pankopf Ford and then owned Zrimm’s Auto Supply. In 1982, he fulfilled his lifelong dream and bought a farm. Along with his late wife, they raised hogs and produce, selling the produce at local farmers markets. He spent the last few years sitting on the porch and driving his buggy on the farm.
He is survived by two sons, Bradley (Terri) Zrimm, Bryan (Cheryl) Zrimm , and a daughter Amy Zrimm all of Avella; three grandchildren, Fred (Tracy) Moore, Caitlyn (Seth) Mounts and Savanna Zrimm; 4 great grandchildren, Ashlyn and McKinley Moore and Novah and Bennett Mounts; a sister, Rena (Richard) Reading of Bridgeville; and a brother, Mike (Carol) Zrimm of Ocala, Fla.
Deceased in addition to his wife and parents, is a daughter who died in infancy.

On August 27, 1949 was married to Joseph “Tulio” Cecchini, who died on December 27, 1980.
Surviving Mrs. Cecchini are, a son, Gary A. (Dianna) Cecchini of Canfield, OH; three grandchildren, Joseph Salman (Marci McBride), Laylah (Thomas) Loiczly and Jason (Jessica) Salman; 13 great grandchildren; a sister, Thelma “Delma” Rapotec of Seven Hills, OH; two nephews, Barry Mlinarcik and Randy (Vicki) Mlinarcik; and a close friend of the family, Eric (Alma) Brandenburg and his daughter Baylie.
Deceased in addition to her husband and parents are, a son, Joseph Cecchini Jr.; and two sisters, Enes Scariot and Palmira Mlinarcik.

Rita was a 1985 graduate of Trinity High School and had been currently working at Home Depot in Washington.
Rita enjoyed doing home improvement project on her house, candle making, sewing, crocheting, riding her side by side on her property and spending time with her dog Mia.
Surviving in addition to her father Robert Cooke are, a brother, Eric (Karen) Cooke; niece, Leigha Cooke, nephew, Troy Cooke; Sister, Whitney Higgins (John) and several other aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces.
Deceased in addition to her mother Gloria are, her grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
Per Rita’s wishes there will be no funeral services.

He was born on February 25, 2002 in Washington, son of Anita Marie Craft of Washington and Heath Allan Georgetti of Avella.
Anthony was a 2020 graduate of Avella High School, where he was honored with being selected for the Homecoming court and was a tremendous athlete; he wrestled, played football and baseball.
He started hunting at age 7 with his pap and shot his first deer the same year. He also enjoyed fishing and being in the outdoors. He was a member of Avella Sportsmen’s Club and Polar Star Mutual Benefit Society. Anthony had a wonderful group of friends, who truly looked out for each other. He loved spending time with them. They “attempted” many friend-trips but always had the worst luck….(the septic tank) those who know, know!
Anthony was so excited for his future; and to be starting a new job with his Dad at FirstEnergy.
He will be remembered for his million-dollar smile and his love for his family and friends.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his siblings, Haleigh Clemens of Washington and Deegan Georgetti of Avella; his paternal grandparents, Sam and Judy Georgetti of Avella; maternal grandparents, John and Frances Craft of Avella; stepmother, Ashley Georgetti; many great aunts, great uncles and cousins.

Henry J. "Hank" Houpt Jr. - March 27, 1941 - February 01, 2024

Obituary Preview: Henry J. “Hank” Houpt Jr., 82, of Avella, went to be with his Lord and Savior, after a brief illness, on Thursday evening, February 1, 2024 in Friendship Village of South Hills.
He was born on March 27, 1941 in Pittsburgh, son of the late Henry John and Mary Kathryn Carnegie Houpt.
Hank grew up in Mars, PA and was a 1959 graduate of Mars High School.
He was drafted on November 13,1963 during Vietnam and served as a Specialist in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged in 1965.
Hank had lived in Avella since 1976 and was a member of St. Isidore the Farmer Parish (St. Michael Church), where he had taught CCD for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3440 of Burgettstown, Bert C. Siders American Legion Post 643, Indian Springs Rod and Gun Club both of Avella and Claysville American Legion Post 639.
Hank’s life was centered around his devotion to the Catholic faith and his family; whom he loved spending time with, especially his children and grandchildren. Throughout the years Hank enjoyed travelling all over the world with his wife Barb and family.
On September 5, 1964 in Most Holy Name Catholic Church in Pittsburgh, he married the love of his life, Barbara Claire Naab, who survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 59 years are his six children, Sharon (Alan) DePaoli of Cecil, Michael (Leslie) Houpt of Allison Park, Mark (Sherri) Houpt of Canonsburg, Cheryl Houpt of Burgettstown, Jennifer Houpt (Mike Sciullo) of Washington and Aaron (Erin) Houpt of Mars; his 15 grandchildren, Joseph and Antonio DePaoli, Samuel and Anna Houpt, Jacob, Joshua, Jillian and Jase Houpt, Brandon Dawson, Dylan Medlan, Peyton, Taylor, Marshall and Addyson Burt and Griffin Houpt; his siblings, Thomas Houpt (Rebecca), Samuel Houpt (Mary), Edward Houpt, Vincent Houpt (Diane), Joseph Houpt (Teresa), Mary Carol Baier, Regina Marie Riegler (Karl), Mary Catherine Houpt, Mary Ann Weyand (Dennis), Mary Patricia Capelli (Thomas) and Mary Christine Dragun; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to his parents are, a sister, Mary Margaret Nickl; an infant brother Frederick Houpt; and a brother-in-law, Joseph Baier.

Ronald LeCuyer - July 01, 1953 - December 25, 2023

Obituary Preview: Ronald LeCuyer Sr., 70, of Avella, formerly of Murrysville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 25, 2023 in his home.
Ron was born on July 1, 1953 in Murrysville, son of the late Donald and Darlene Kemmerrer LeCuyer.
He was a 1971 graduate of Franklin Regional High School and also attended the Pittsburgh Technical Institute (PTI), where he received an Associates In Specialized Technology Degree.
Ron was a veteran of the U.S. Marines serving during Vietnam, with the rank of Lance Corporal; and was honorably discharged on October 30th 1978.
He had lived in Avella for the past 11 years and he enjoyed his retirement.
Ron was a member of the Trafford Sportsman Club; he enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing heavy metal guitar. Ron could fix anything.
He will be remembered for his love and dedication to his wife, his children and grandchildren.
On February 18, 2012, he married Elizabeth Ann Turetsky, who survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 11 years are, his four children, Renee LeCuyer, Rhonda Rypcinski, Amiee Perkins and Ronald LeCuyer II; six grandchildren, Tyler and Madison Rypcinski, Aliyah and Seth Perkins, Jacqueline and Elise LeCuyer; a brother, Dave LeCuyer and two sisters, Kathleen Lloyd and Doreen Blasko.
Deceased in addition to his parents are a brother, Patrick LeCuyer.
A memorial service will be held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville at a later date.

Dave attended Burgettstown and Avella High Schools and was employed by Tim Paris as a groundskeeper.
He was a member of Polar Star Mutual Benefit Society and the SNPJ.
Dave enjoyed being outside, cutting grass and listening to music, especially Pink Floyd.
Dave is survived by his five brothers, John (Susan) Bertovich, Charles (Sharon) Bertovich, Frank (Elizabeth) Bertovich and Billy (Darlene) Bertovich all of Avella and Danny (Wilma) Bertovich of Washington; three sisters, Elizabeth Shore of Burgettstown, Carol (Danny) Torboli and Sue Ann Bertovich both of Avella; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to his parents are, a daughter, Ashley; three brothers, George Jr., Michael and Raymond Bertovich; and a sister, Eleanor R. Crowe.

She was currently working at Compati Home Healthcare as a nurse’s aide for the last 9 years.
Dawn was a compassionate person, who was always caring for someone. She enjoyed spending time with her family and truly loved her new role as a Grandma. Dawn loved all kids and animals; she even had a pet raccoon named rocket.

She was a member of St. Isidore the Farmer Parish (St. Michael Church in Avella), where she was a member of the Christian Mothers organization.
On June 27, 1959, she married Louis Ghelfi, who died on March 15, 1992.
After her husband passed away and she worked at Petrucci’s Supermarket and then she worked part time for her son, Louis at his business LG Jan Services LLC, until she retired in 2018.
She enjoyed keeping busy; croqueting, doing needlepoint, puzzles and ceramics. Mary loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are her two children, Annette Ghelfi Stratus of Burgettstown and Louis A. Ghelfi of Eldersville; three grandchildren, Thomas E. Stanley III, Michael Paul Stanley and Matthew Miller; three great grandchildren, Nevaeh Stanley, Kayley Stanley and Miley Stanley.

Jeannette was a 1951 graduate of Titusville High School. She was formerly employed by the FBI as a clerk in Washington D.C. and then worked as a secretary in the guidance office for Titusville High School for 23 years, retiring in 1996.
She was a former member of the Hydetown Baptist Church and had been a board member at Hydetown Vol. Fire Dept. from 1988 until 1992.
Jeannette was a member of the Hydetown Baptist Sewing Club and was a former assistant Girl Scout leader.
She enjoyed going to the YMCA, collecting Teddy Bears.
Jeannette was the last of her immediate family and had been living in Avella with her son Fred and his wife Grace since October 2023.
Surviving Jeannette are two children, Regina Omiatek of Oil City, and Frederick (Grace) Ensle of Avella; 11 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to her parents are a daughter, Lisa (Mark) Gonzales of Fallon, NV; a sister, Betty Hollabaugh; a brother-in-law Joseph Hollabaugh and two ex-husbands: Reginald Kamborn and William Ensle.

Obituary Preview: Marlene A. Strho, 92, of Belleview, FL, formerly of Eldersville, PA, passed away on November 22, 2023 in her home after a yearlong battle with cancer. She went to be with Jesus surrounded by her loving family. The last few months of her life were filled with love, laughter and many hours of reminiscing with all the family that came to visit her. She said if laughter was the best medicine, she would live another year!
She was born September 24, 1931 on the Orenchuk farm in Eldersville, PA the daughter of the late Anthony Joseph and Anna Mildred Puskarich Resnik.
Marlene attended Union High School in Burgettstown.
On July 22, 1950 in Bethel Methodist Church, she married her husband of 68 years, Michael Leonard Strho, who passed away on March 13, 2019.
She worked in a factory in Slovan while her husband served in the Army during the Korean War and then went back to school to receive her GED. She then furthered her education at Beauty School in Washington, PA and ran a beauty shop out of her home from 1960 to 1973. Mrs. Strho then worked as an assistant to Dr. John Waldron in Paris, PA for several years.
Marlene had lived in Florida with her niece Carolyn and husband Rick since 2012 and was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Belleview, FL.
She loved to read, do crossword puzzles and donate her time crocheting many hats and blankets for World Vision.
Marlene leaves behind her dear sister, Lorraine Billie, who took loving care of her for the last 2 years of her life, her beloved nieces, Carolyn (Rick) Chynoweth, Maria (Rob) Tomacari, Kathleen Billie, Andrea (Al) Tomsic, Lori Billie, Marlo (Nick) Smith and Toni (Ryan) McDonald as well as several great nieces and nephews.

Obituary Preview: Josephine Midler, age 98, passed peacefully on November 17, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Josephine was born on April 10, 1925, in Washington, PA, daughter of Frank and Cecilia (Muzak) Zitkovich, originally from Croatia. Josephine attended Washington High School and graduated in 1943. She married Paul Midler of Avella, PA on April 29, 1951. She had been a member of St. Michael Church in Avella (St. Isidore the Farmer Parish) for 72 years. She was a member of the Society of the Little Flower. Josephine was an exceptional seamstress and 4-H sewing leader of the Cross Creek Stitch and Chatter Club. She was a judge for the Make-it-with-Wool contest, and sewed clothes for family and friends, including her daughter’s wedding gown. She won many blue ribbons for sewing and quilting at the Washington County Fair and continued to sew well into her 90’s for charities, including Hope 2 Others.
Josephine traveled from California to Maine and throughout Europe. She was an avid reader, particularly of history, with a remarkable memory. She was an excellent cook known for her fried chicken and apple pie. Josephine had beautiful handwriting and wrote long letters to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and to her international pen pals. Christine, the first grandchild, had a special place in her heart. They loved watching Steeler games and many California sunsets together. Michael, the second grandchild would go raspberry picking with Josephine and still loves black raspberry jelly similar to what she would make. When computers first came out, Josephine taught herself to operate the tape-driven computer and recovered Michael’s lost program. She loved antiquing with her granddaughters Regina and Diane. Josephine cheered on her grandchildren Evan, Chase, and Marisa as they showed their steers at the County Fair. In her opinion, their steers always were the best of show. Josephine loved when her grandchildren Jerry and Lauren would visit and had her kitty waiting for Lauren to play. Grandma, Jerry, and Lauren played I Spy while sitting outside overlooking the farm. She loved her family and friends and was generous in her time with whomever she met.
Surviving are three daughters: R. Constance (Michael) Wiener of Bruceton Mills, WV, Cecile (Carl) Canales of Pittsburgh, PA, and Paulette (Brian) Thomas of Loveland, OH, and a son, Paul (Donna) Midler of Avella, PA; nine grandchildren: Christine (Christian) Ross, Michael (Judy) Wiener, Regina (Pedro) Wiener-Pla, Diane (Troy) Lionberger, Evan (Sussan) Midler, Chase (Madeline) Midler, Marisa Midler, Jerry Thomas, and Lauren Thomas. She has five great-grandchildren: Michael August Wiener, Grace Wiener, Emily Ross, Kaylee Ross, and Finn Midler.
Deceased, in addition to Josephine’s parents, are: her beloved husband of 60 years, Paul Midler, daughter Maria Elizabeth Midler, brothers George, Louis, and Frank Zitkovich, sisters Mary Turk, Ann Zitkovich, and Amelia Kulakowski.
The family appreciates the wonderful, compassionate care from Amedisys Hospice Morgantown and Pittsburgh’s nurses, nursing assistants, chaplains, and social workers.

Obituary Preview: Daniel A. Cecchini, 76, of Canonsburg, formerly of Avella, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, in UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born on April 23, 1947, in Washington, PA, son of the late Elio and Mary Suvada Cecchini.
Dan was a 1965 graduate of Avella High School. In 1969, he received his Bachelor’s degree in History from Thiel College, and later, he received his Master’s degree from California University of PA and acquired his Superintendent papers.
He began his teaching career at Avella High School, where he later accepted the position of High School Principal. After 35 years at Avella School District, he retired in 2004.
Dan was a former member of Avella Lutheran Church, and faithfully attended Peters Creek Baptist Church in South Park after moving to Canonsburg in 2010.
Dan was known for his quiet generosity. In both time and money, he gave to all who asked of him. He enjoyed serving the community as a volunteer at Washington Hospital, as a congregant at his church, and as a football and baseball coach for Avella Athletics.
Dan enjoyed woodworking, photography, cheering on Penn State, and buying more Christmas decorations than he could fit in his house (but not for lack of trying). He loved his family deeply, and will be remembered as a brother, father, and grandfather who encouraged, supported, and believed in the ones he loved. He is treasured by the people he leaves behind.
Surviving Dan are his three children, Nikki (Dave) Blue of Eldersville, Danielle (Michael) Black of Bethel Park and Antony (Rachel) Cecchini of Collegeville; eight grandchildren, Bekah, Bella, Ben, Zander, Ethan, Jeb, Violet, and Lennon; a brother, Marc (Cyndi) Cecchini; a sister, Oretta Cecchini Muro both of Avella; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Helen was a 1943 graduate of Avella High School. After high school, during WWII, she was a Clerk’s Assistant at the P&WV Railroad office in Avella.
She was a member of St. Isidore the Farmer Parish (St. Michael Church of Avella) and the church’s Christian Mothers organization; she was also a former member of the American Legion Bert C. Siders Post 643 Ladies Auxiliary of Avella.
Helen enjoyed listening to classical music, watching classic movies and reading classic novels.
Faith was very important to Helen; the focus of her life was her church, and she prayed the rosary daily.
Helen was a lifelong resident of Avella.
On January 29, 1949, in St. Michael Church, she married Sigmund Brezinski, who died June 20, 2002.
She was the last of her immediate family. Preceding her in death in addition to her husband and parents are, a sister, Mary B. Magon; a brother, Raymond Magon; and an infant brother, Albert Magon.
Surviving Helen are, two sons, Mark (Linda) Brezinski of Washington and David (Carla) Brezinski of Ellicott City, MD; a daughter, Rose Mary (Michael) Orisko of Westford, VT; six grandchildren, Jay (Karen) Cowieson, Jill (Robert) Daniels, Matthew (Nicole) Brezinski, Laura Brezinski, Steven (Meghan) Orisko, and Daniel (Bryanne) Orisko; 14 great-grandchildren, Lauren, Brody and Madeline Cowieson, Logan, Lexi and Lucas Daniels, Beckett and Brooks Brezinski, Avery, Theo, Louis, Daniel, Ryder and Liberty Rose Orisko.

Surviving Mr. Bauduin are a daughter, Rachel (Ron) Baloga; a son, Lee N. Bauduin; three grandchildren, Kari, Kristie and Zach; his companion of 36 years with whom he made his home, Holly M. Rankin; three brothers and three sisters.

Patty loved to dance to Polka music, watch game shows and episodes of the Golden Girls. She loved to watch ALL sports on T.V., but she was especially partial to Notre Dame sports.
On December 27, 1952, in St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church of Canonsburg, she married William Henry Dhayer, who passed away on December 10, 2010.
Surviving Patty are, her daughter, Deborah (Tom) Howard of Cecil; two grandchildren, Stacy (Jason) Miller of Imperial and Stephen (Michelle) Howard of Bridgeville; three great grandchildren, Camden and Tanner Miller and Austin Howard; sister, Carol Pruce of Canonsburg; brother-in-law, James (Jeannine) Dhayer of Washington; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Deceased in addition to her husband of 57 years and parents are, a son, William M. Dhayer; and a brother, Joseph F. Pruce.

On November 25, 1959 she married Gerald “Jerry” Griffith, who passed away on April 5, 2007.
Surviving are her two daughters, Jocelyn (Rob) Gagliani of Cross Creek and Carol (Don) O’Brien of Perrysburg, OH; five grandchildren, Robert Gagliani Jr. and his wife Dr. Ellie Gagliani, Anthony Gagliani, Kylie O’Brien, Ashlyn O’Brien and Shayne O’Brien, two sisters, Veronica (Clark) David and Linda Baiz; and a brother, Gary (Pam) Huwe.
Deceased in addition to her husband of 47 years and her parents are two sisters, Anita Whitson and Norma Lucas.

On October 29, 1955, she married Donald Gene Eakin, who passed away on September 6, 2009.
Jackie is survived by her children, Paula Hansson, Rick (Kim) Eakin, Mary Lou Padgett and Gary Eakin; grandchildren, Shaun Eakin, Tiffany (Todd) Biagini, Dana Eakin, Rick (Maria) Eakin, Adam Padgett, Kristen (Jacob) Coen, Gary Eakin and Karsten Hansson; great grandchildren; her twin sister, Jerry Star and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to her parents and husband of 53 years is a son, Donnie Eakin.

Yvonne attended Burgettstown High School, earned her GED and then went on to work in the area as a Certified Nursing Assistant for over 20 years, retiring from the Washington County Health Center in 2000.
She was a true crafter and collector at heart. She loved lighthouses, using her Cricut and making Christmas extra special with all of her decorations. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother; she truly loved to care for her family.
On June 1, 1973, she married Robert Dupain, who survives.
Also surviving are her children, Tina (Robert) McCartney and Robert (Jody) Dupain both of Washington; six grandchildren, Charles (Isis) Dupain, Brittany Dupain, Robert Dupain Jr., Mackenzie Shaffer and her fiancé Josh Kovatch, Shawn Dupain and Haylea Dupain; two great grandchildren Chance and Aurora; a brother, Jess (Kim) Lemaster of Montana; a sister, Diane (Bob) Ferris of Burgettstown; step-mother, Judy Lemaster of Bulger; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to her parents is her stepfather, Patrick Gurrera.

He was born on February 13, 1948 in Wheeling, WV, son of the late Victor Campbell and Elizabeth Virginia Sandreth Campbell Kosarik.
Richard was a 1966 graduate of Avella High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during Vietnam with the rank of Aviation Boatswain's Mate, honorably discharged in 1970.
He was a laborer for Washington Steel for 10 years and retired from Pennsylvania Transformer on June 3, 2022 after more than 20 years of employment.
In his youth, he enjoyed hunting and more recently he liked to go to the casino and play the slot machines. Richard was an avid sports fan; never missing a chance to watch the Pittsburgh Steeler and Pirates. He loved going to the beach and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
On October 10, 1970, he married Kathy Sue Appleby, who survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 52 years are his 3 children, Debbie (Mark) Cole of Washington, Kelly (Rodney) Smith of Aliquippa and Richard (Donna) Campbell of Washington; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren; his siblings, Lillian (Warren) Zimmerman of Washington and Robert James (Sandy) Campbell of Avella; several nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to his parents are, a brother, Harry “Billy” Campbell; infant twin brothers, Leonard and Leroy Campbell; and his step-father, Martin Kosarik.
