Robert Burke Richardson - July 12, 1942 - April 28, 2024

Departed: 04/28/2024 (Leesville)
Obituary Preview: Robert Burke Richardson was born July 12, 1942, in Pueblo, Colorado to May and Hallie Richardson. Burke went home to the Lord and the loving arms of his wife, Lorraine, on April 28, 2024.
Burke was married to Lorraine for 60 years. He was a loving father to two children, Robert Richardson and Angela Ringersma. He was also a loving grandfather to two grandchildren, Hailey Taylor and Kelly Kealaula.
Burke grew up in Leesville, Louisiana and graduated from Leesville High School in 1959. He was never much for formal learning. He would always share that when his father drove him to college he managed to make it back to Leesville before his father. He then enlisted into the Marine Corps earning the rank of Corporal. Burke was extremely proud of his service to his country and even managed to make Marine Corps history with his battery and lifelong friend Ski by firing the first Howtar artillery round. He was also a firm believer in “once a Marine, always a Marine.” After the Marine Corps, he took a position locally at the bus station until he went to the post office, where he served his community for 33 years. Retiring as postmaster in 1997 he enjoyed all the benefits of living in Louisiana, food, hunting, family, and church.
Burke was a family man through and through, his main passions in life were his wife, Lorriane, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and taking care of his land. He would say that before he met Lorraine, he thought he was happy, but he never knew true happiness until he got to love her. The love that they shared was a great one and the truest form. One was always right behind the other. They were each other’s entire existence. From that love they got their wonderful children Robert and Angela. While Robert and Angela were growing up, he enjoyed hunting with Robert and fishing and always said that those memories were some of his fondest. Angela was always the bookworm, and he was so proud of all her accomplishments, they would study together as their own way of spending time together, along with some fishing and hunting as well. Burke’s second true love was his granddaughter. He was a very rough and tough man until she came along and turned him to mush. He very much enjoyed any time spent with his grandchildren. He loved to teach them about taking care of the property and showing them how to garden. He was extremely proud of his family and loved them all dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, May and Hallie Richardson, and his wife, Lorraine Richardson.
He is survived by his daughter, Angela Ringersma, son, Robert Richardson (Tammy Richardson), granddaughters, Hailey Taylor (Scott Taylor), and Kelly Kealaula (Buddy Gibson), great grandchildren Caleb, Carsyn, and Cadyn, and sister Catherine Hudson (Frank Hudson), niece Laurie (Joe), and nephew Michael (Beth), and Dan Ringersma.

Hui Son Lyons - February 15, 1950 - April 27, 2024

Departed: 04/27/2024 (Leesville)
Obituary Preview: Hui-Son Lyons (Kim) Feb 15, 1950 – Apr 27, 2024 Born to loving parents on 15 Feb 1950 in Suwon, South Korea,
Hui-Son was an outstanding cook and worked in the culinary field over the years alongside the military base there in the city. In March 1979, she met her future husband, Richard and in 1980 she & Richard were united in marriage at the U.S Embassy.
In January, 1981 she made the commitment to journey with him to the United States by way of her new home in Fort Polk and Leesville, Louisiana. Shortly thereafter, they were able to proclaim her devotion in their official marriage ceremony at the place she enjoyed being in the most.
To this union, four years later a son was born and was named, Peter, which meant “Rock”—Steadfast and unmovable like she was in her steady dedication to Jesus Christ.
Hui-Son loved Jesus very much and served as a deacon in the Korean Assembly of God Church, and also the Leesville Korean United Methodist Church for many years—and it is here where her spiritual statement was made, and her life’s mission was completed.
She truly loved everyone around her and her simple acts of kindness never went unnoticed through all the contributions made in the church and all around the Leesville-DeRidder community for decades.
She had an angelic voice and loved to sing praise songs. She always found herself using that everlasting passion for singing as a member in the church choirs. Her voice was strong and powerful and she remained a faithful member of the church until Jesus finally called her home. Heaven has certainly gained a true angel. “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” —Matthew 25:21

Dempsey was born to Floyd and Ivor Mae Merchant on January 25, 1957, in Elizabeth, Louisiana. He was a 1976 graduate of Hicks High School. Immediately after graduation, he married the love of his life of 48 years Latricia Sigler Merchant. Together they ran the family dairy farm for many years and they went on to have their two beloved children. He was a mechanic not only by trade but his heart was dedicated to it and there was nothing he couldn't fix. He went on to travel the world as a Millwright for many years until he settled back home into a Civil Service position at Fort Polk until his retirement. He enjoyed cooking and made sure everyone that visited his home was fed. Gardening was not only an enjoyment of his, but it fed and blessed many. He could be found at almost any hour of the day or night working in his shop tinkering and working on something because there was nothing he couldn't fix. In his years after retirement "his" birds became his enjoyment. He could tell you stories of each and every bird that visited his bird sanctuary. If a bird was missing a feeding, he was definitely aware and believe you me he worried that a critter had gotten his bird. His family jokingly named him "The bird whisper". Oh and let's not forget his love of coffee time with everyone that walked through the front door. He always made sure there was a fresh pot brewing. His family was everything to him; he was blessed beyond measure to be able to experience 4 generations with Joseph carrying the Merchant legacy. Trista was not only a daddy’s girl, but she was her daddy's world. There were many children that came into his home that he raised as his own.

Joe Lynn Bolton - October 06, 1930 - March 30, 2024

Departed: 03/30/2024 (Leesville)
Obituary Preview: Funeral services for Joe Lynn Bolton will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Antioch Baptist Church with Brother Terry Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 4th, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church in Slagle, LA.
Joe Lynn Bolton was born on October 6, 1930, in Slagle, LA to Joe and Olga Bolton. He passed away on March 30, 2024, at the age of 93 years, 5 months, and 24 days. He graduated from Simpson High School in 1947. After graduation he attended Vincent Business College in Lake Charles to study accounting. That is where our parents’ romance started and certainly stood the test of time. Joe Lynn Bolton and Cathleen James Bolton were married on December 16, 1949, at Boulevard Baptist Church in Lake Charles. Little did we know that this would be a lasting legacy of nearly 70 years together as one.
In his early years he worked for Calcasieu Marine, National Bank, and Pan American Import Company. Then moved on to work for Swift and Company for 11 years. In 1960 he went to work for Continental Oil Company, eventually known as Conoco Oil Refinery. After 31 years of dedicated service, he retired in 1991 from Conoco Oil Refinery. He continued working after retirement by serving on the board of directors and as secretary of the Credit Union at Swift & Company and Conoco. In 1994 he was elected to the Board of Directors of East Central Vernon Water Department in Slagle and served as Secretary Treasurer until his death. In 1970 our family moved to Slagle where our dad established himself as an active servant and dedicated member of Antioch Baptist Church. He served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at Twelfth Street Baptist Church in Lake Charles and Antioch Baptist Church in Slagle.
His biggest love and greatest joy was found in his unwavering, gentle, and devoted love for his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He was a supportive, dedicated, loving husband, father, paw paw, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved spending time with us as a family and has passed on that heritage and legacy to all of us. He loved to sit on his porch, drink coffee, and visit with friends and family. Always eager and proud to share pictures of his life and his family with others. He has always been more of a giver than a taker when it comes to helping and serving others. He loved to grow a garden and raise cows. He enjoyed hunting squirrels, deer, hogs, and occasionally an armadillo. His favorite pastime was reading the newspaper from cover to cover. He enjoyed riding in his side by side with his loyal companion Bailey. They would ride around the neighborhood checking on friends and family together. He just loved life and he would always say, “Go with what the Good Lord gives you and I am thankful for everyday the Lord gives me.” Our dad was truly a man of God, and he loved the Lord with all his heart. It is a privilege to call you dad, paw paw, and friend. Even though our hearts are broken at his departure, we do rejoice in knowing all is well with his soul. He loved his Savior Jesus Christ and we have peace in knowing we as believers will be reunited with him in heaven one day. As we celebrate his departure from this earth let us reflect on the beautiful person he was. We will forever cling to the precious memories we have of him, never letting them fade from our memories. He was preceded in death by his: Wife: Cathleen James Bolton of Slagle, LA Son: Walter Lynn Bolton of Slagle, LA Daughter: Stepheny Bolton Waugaman of Powhatan Point, OH Son-in-law: Joe Waugaman of Powhatan Point, OH Parents: Joe and Olga Crumpler Bolton of Slagle, LA
