Departed: 02/26/2024 (Beaverdale)
Obituary Preview: Mary Frances Yuhas, age 93, born in Spangler, PA, and formerly of Dunlo, PA, passed peacefully into the hands of the Lord on February 26, 2024, surrounded by family in the loving care of Concordia of Cranberry and Good Samaritan Hospice. She was predeceased by her husband Steve A. Yuhas, parents Angela and Joseph Bodek, siblings Teresa Mehall, Helen Kirsh, and John, Chester, Stanley, and Louis Bodek. She is survived by children Paula (Charles) Ledney, David Yuhas, Maria Yuhas, Joanne (Jeffrey) Castello, Susan (Matthew) Kovac, Joseph Yuhas, Steven (Claudine) Yuhas, Carol (Ronnie) Avila, Nancy (Matthew) Hoffman and Annemarie (Phillip) Torrez, and grandchildren Anthony, Vincent, Mary Bernardine, Gabriel, Adrian, Alex, Madison, Brandon, Teresa, Phillip, Xavier, Lucia, Steven, Angela, Maria, John, Steven, Kate, Izaak, Abram, Abigail, and Thressa, and great grandchild Lily. Mary was a talented seamstress, for years making dresses, quilts, and doll clothes. Many wonderful evenings were spent laughing and stitching quilts with the members of the Dunlo Straight Stitchers quilting guild. She was a devout Catholic, raising and setting the example for her 10 children. Mary truly cherished her 20 grandchildren and great grandchild. While she never considered herself a great cook, she prepared many a fine meal including ethnic favorites of pugach and halupki and was an excellent pie baker, passing along recipes and techniques to her daughters and sons. A family birthday was celebrated by the magically created "cut-up cakes" made into snowmen, giraffes, and elephants. Mary was quiet and reserved, but generous with time and love for her family. Watching the televised Pirate and Steeler games was a source of enjoyment and sometimes angst. She never strived for riches or recognition, instead hoping and praying for the continuation of Christian faith and togetherness for her family. Friends received Friday from 5 until 8 PM at the Jean H. Kinley Funeral Home, Beaverdale. Funeral Mass 10 AM Saturday St. Michael Catholic Church, St. Michael, PA, committal Corpus Christi Cemetery, Dunlo, PA.
