Obituary Preview: Toni Davidson Lassiter, Age 69, of the Cobbtown Community in Jay, FL, went to her Heavenly reward on Tuesday, April 30th, 2024. She was surrounded by her family praying and singing around her bedside.

Toni was born on March 12th, 1955, to David Hartley Davidson and Sarah Jordan. She grew up in the home of her grandparents, Rev. J.D. (Dan) and Eliza Holland. She received her GED and met the love of her life, Jimmie Dwight Lassiter, Sr., and they were married on June 3, 1969.

Later she attended Jefferson Davis Community College and then the University of West Florida, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a specialty in Emotional Disability. She later returned to UWF and earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociology. She worked at West Florida Community Care Center in Milton, FL, and then for the Department of Human Resources in Brewton, AL. While working at DHR, she earned her master’s degree in social work from Florida State University. She then worked for the Veteran’s Administration where she cared for homeless veterans.

Toni was a member of Cobbtown Holiness Church where she was involved in music ministry.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Dorcas.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jimmie Sr.; a son, Jim (Sandy) Lassiter; a daughter, Jeanna (Frederick) Barrow; and son, Barry Lassiter, all of Jay; sisters, Maria, Josephine, Dawn, Elaine, and Vikki; a special uncle and aunt, Aaron and Robbie Holland; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Service at Cornerstone Christian Church, 14047 Alabama St. Jay, Florida 32565, on Saturday May 4, 2024, with visitation from 1:00-3:00pm and service at 3:00pm Interment to immediately follow at Cobbtown Cemetery.

Rev. Jim Lassiter, Rev. Frederick Barrow, and Rev. Colby Odom will be officiating.

The family would like to acknowledge Vitas Hospice, and special caregivers, Abby, Kylie, and Molly.

Obituary Preview: Luellen Shell Cooley of Jay, Florida, passed peacefully into her heavenly home on April 13, 2024, at 88 years of age. She was born in Jay, Florida on April 1, 1936. She was faithfully married for 66 years to her late husband, Mallory Cooley, and devoted herself to his care before his passing.

Luellen worked at Chemstrand briefly before becoming a stay-at-home mom. Later in life, she graduated Pensacola Junior College Nursing Program and was a licensed practical nurse in the state of Florida.

Luellen loved traveling, attending gospel singings, camping, shopping, and spending time with her grandchildren attending their sports events, beauty pageants, church functions, and making precious memories with her family. She was always planning her next adventure with them.

Luellen was a holy ghost filled woman of God who loved her Savior and loved God’s Word. Though she was a humble woman, Luellen was nonetheless a powerful prayer warrior. She loved her family and set an example for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren that will lead them all their lives. Luellen was a faithful member of Cornerstone Christian Church of Jay where she was active in

the women’s ministry and the Joy Fellowship Group. She loved and prayed for her church family.

Luellen was a Godly woman and an incredibly strong woman. She left a legacy to her family of God’s amazing grace and forgiveness and was an example to all who knew her. We all look forward to that glad reunion day just as she said.

Luellen was preceded in death by her husband, Mallory Cooley; infant son, Edwin Cooley; son in law, Ricky Nowling; brothers, Avis Truss Shell, Huston Shell, Billy Shell; parents, Loyd and Fanny Hall Shell.

She is survived by son, Randy (Debbie) Cooley of Jay, Florida; two daughters, Rhonda (Paul) Wesley of Pace, Florida, Karen Nowling of Jay, Florida; grandchildren, Brandon (CoDee) Wesley, Lauren (Adam) Buchanan, Kaitlyn (Nathan) Pooley, Matthew (Molly) Cooley, Gwynn (Jamie) Sauls, Justin (Hannah) Nowling, Aaron Nowling; great grandchildren, Colton and Paislee Wesley, Caroline and Harper Buchanan, Asa Pooley, Zac Molnari, Jaeci Cooley, Tanner Sauls, Garrett Ashworth, Peyton Cooley, Jase Germann, Houston Nowling; sister, Gail Davis of Pensacola, Florida, sisters in law, Nettie Mae Cooley, Gwendolyn Shell, Audry Shell, Marguerite Shell, and numerous nieces, nephews, and one special great great niece who was named after her and were all dear to her heart.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday April 18, 2024, at Cornerstone Christian Church, 14047 S Alabama Street Jay, Florida 32565, with visitation from 11:00-1:00pm and service at 1:00pm. Interment will immediately follow at Concord Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Rev. Frederick Barrow (Jeanna), pastor of Cornerstone Christian Church, will be officiating with Rev Shell Osbon (Missy) assisting. Pallbearers will be, Justin G. Nowling, Brandon Wesley,

Nathan Pooley, Matthew Cooley, Paul David Byler, and Tyler Brown.

Honorary pallbearers will be, Julia Faye Diamond, Bernice Boyd, Betty Dyess, Mollie Branson, and the Members of the Cornerstone Christian Church Joy Fellowship Group led by Johnny and Judy Wolfe.

A meal will be provided for family and friends at Cornerstone Christian Church in the Fellowship Hall and Outdoor Family Life Center immediately following interment.

The family would like to thank Emerald Coast Hospice; The Terrace staff; Caregiver, Freda Moore, Neighbors, Mel and Harvey; and all of her doctors and hospital staff for taking such good care of our mother and loving her.

Robert was born to Rosa Lee Watson and Willie Earl Watson on January 16, 1950. Robert was a wonderful husband, father, brother, and best friend to everyone. He retired from the U.S. Marine Corps as well as the U.S. Army. He received a bachelor’s degree in business at Jefferson Davis College in Brewton, Alabama.

Robert is preceded in death by his mother, Rosa Lee Watson; father, Willie Earl Watson; brothers, Patrick Watson, Joe Earl Watson; and sister, Rosella Watson.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Diane Watson of Pensacola, Florida; two sons, Jeremy (Victoria) Watson, Robert Allen “Bobby” (Dianna) Watson; one daughter, Tona (John) Kennedy; honorary niece that was like a daughter, Lisa Ann Thrower; one brother, Leon Watson (Donnie). Robert had many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed being around his grandchildren and loved teaching them our family history and spending time with them all fishing and hunting.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday March 9, 2024, at Lewis Funeral Home Jay Cornerstone Chapel, 4003 Highway 4 Jay, Florida, 32565, with visitation from 1:00-3:00pm and service at 3:00pm. Obituary Preview: On December 15, 2023, Bailey Anne Goossen,16, passed away unexpectedly due to complications of an illness at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Florida. She was surrounded by her family and close loved ones that held a special place in her heart during her last minutes on Earth.

Bailey was born in Wyoming, Minnesota on February 24, 2007. She was a native of Jay, Florida, where she was a junior at Jay High School. She was a member of the HOPE Squad, the weight-lifting team, and was active within the art department. Over the years, she cheered in little league before moving to the junior varsity team and participated in many of the high school pageants. She planned on going to an out of state college after graduating to begin the steps to become a Thoracic Surgeon. Then eventually, traveling to Paris.

Despite her own struggles, Bailey always left an imprint on whom she came across, even those that were momentary. She was brave and strong in many ways. The most important being that she could turn darkness into light even through the many storms she faced as she did not want everyone else to face the same darkness. She often leaned to music and poetry for self-expression. Her personality, smile, and laugh were contagious. She enjoyed hanging out with her friends, going to football games, the beach, stargazing, fishing, and attending rodeos.

Bailey is survived by parents, Stephanie M Chandler, and James M Goossen; brothers, Ayden Nelson, Joshua Cressler; sisters, Bryley Goossen, Kylee Goossen; maternal grandparents, Kelly and Lesley Nelson; paternal grandparents, Mike and Barbara Goossen; aunts, Katelyn Warrick, Morgan Nelson, Amanda Nelson; uncles, Andrew Goossen, Richard Goossen; and many great uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family members.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at True Worship Assembly of God, 13297 Hwy 87, Jay, FL 32565, with visitation from 1:00-2:00pm and service at 2:00pm. Interment will immediately follow at Berrydale Baptist Church Cemetery.

The pallbearers will be Ayden Nelson, Ethan Stinson, Landyn Cooley, Jayden Cooley, Kaden McCall, and Timothy Flowers.

First and foremost, my family and I would like to express deep gratitude to Dr. Garrison and Dr. Reis at Sacred Heart Hospital for their compassion, attention, and dedication to the care Bailey received during this process as well as the nursing staff and all of the specialists. We also want to thank Dr. Michael-Smith at Jay Hospital and staff (Gerald, Shelly, Greg, Anthony) for reacting as quickly as they did.

Obituary Preview: Randall “Jason” Roberson, 48, of Jay, Florida passed away on December 10, 2023.

Jason was born on January 12, 1975, in Brewton, Alabama. He was a 1993 graduate of Flomaton High School. He continued his education at Southern Union Community College where he received a degree in Industrial Electronics and Electricity. Upon graduation, Jason began his electrical career at Smurfit-Stone Container where he made many lifelong friends. In 2005, he began working for ExxonMobil. He spent 12 years at Mobile Bay, 2 years in Russia, and almost 5 years in Nigeria as a maintenance advisor. Due to his work ethic, he was highly regarded in the ExxonMobil Circuit.

Jason will be deeply missed and loved by all that knew him. He loved to plan trips for Amanda and the kids, hunt with his boys, and take his “Taylor Brookie” to get ice cream. Jason loved spending time at Lake Martin, cooking for his family, growing a garden, and keeping his yard immaculate. He will be remembered by his contagious laughter, corny jokes, and his giving heart. His ability to connect with people and make them feel valued was a testament to his genuine, humble, and warm-hearted nature. While Jason’s family grieves his loss, they choose to remember Jason in a way that honors his spirit. Jason attended Century Church of Christ. He loved his family and friends unconditionally.

Jason is survived by his wife of 23 years, Amanda Roberson; and their three children, Kaden (21), Trent (18), and Taylor Brooke (6). He is also survived by his parents, Randy and Wanda Roberson; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Obie and Reta Nevels; brother, Dylan Roberson; brother-in-law, Derrek Nevels (Bambi); sister-in-law, Lauren Nevels; nieces, Tara, Kassidy, and Kinzie Nevels; and a special Aunt, Barbara Johnson. Along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

A Memorial Ceremony will be held on Friday December 29, 2023 at Cornerstone Christian Church, 14047 S Alabama Street Jay, Florida 32565, with visitation from 12:00-2:00pm and service at 2:00pm.

Rod’s hobbies were fishing, hunting, and rodeoing before his health no longer allowed him. His greatest joy was spending time with his family as well as his church family. Rod and Dawn served on the bus ministry for many years, bringing children to church each week. Rod was a retired Boilermaker.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Otho and Mozelle Roberts; and his brother, Larry Roberts.

Rod is survived by his loving wife of 18 and a half years, Dawn; three daughters, Cheyenne Roberts, Haley (Michael) Ragan, and Megan (Ryan) Hunt; two brothers, Jeff Roberts and Randy Roberts; sister, Becky (Jimmy) Jones; and several nieces and nephews.

Obituary Preview: JoAnn Wise McNac was born May 18, 1951, and went to be with our Heavenly Father on October 19, 2023.

JoAnn was born in Santa Rosa County and has made it her home for most of her life. She was born to Hollis and Stella Wise. She married her husband of 39 years in 1969 and had 3 daughters who she loved very much. For many years, JoAnn was a homemaker, raising her girls till they were old enough to do for themselves. At that time, she started working for Sessions Peanut Company in Allentown, Florida. For over 20 years, during peanut season, she left the house before the sun came up and got home after it had gone down. It was hard, dirty work but she really loved it, although she was glad when the season was over. When she retired, she was very restless; she just did not like sitting at home. You could find her hanging out at Sutlers Farm Supply or over at her buddy Gary's house. She loved visiting with people. She could be in a conversation and tell that person, “Well, I better get back to the house”, but continue talking for another 30 min. She loved her family and her friends. She was a hardworking and tough woman and told you what she thought very straight forward. That was just her.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Hollis, and Stella Wise; her husband, Willie A. McNac; her brothers, Edward Wise, Lloyd Wise and Ray Wise; and her first grandson, Matthew Crapps.

JoAnn leaves behind three daughters, Ann Crapps, Sherry Millitzer, and Carrie McNac; two grandchildren, Trisha Crapps and Timothy Crapps; and one great granddaughter, Charlotte Crapps. She also leaves her siblings, Gene (Barbara) Wise, Wayne (Mae) Wise, Ruby (Tom) Young, and Carrie Middleton; and many nieces and nephews including special niece and nephew, Wanda Pugh and Mike Jackson. She also had special friends Gary Jones, Anthony Cozart and Keith Jones.

We, her three girls, would like to thank them and our Aunt Ruby and Uncle Tom for pretty much stopping their lives in Jacksonville and coming here and staying for months to help with mama. We would like to thank Dr. David Smith and the nurses and staff at Jay Medical Clinic, all the nurses at Jay Hospital we love you all, Dr. Yasmine Alsayd and the nurses in the chemo room at Sacred Heart Cancer Center, and hospice care from Vitas Healthcare. With all your help we got to have our mama with us for over a year through this final battle of hers.

There will be a Celebration of Life at Pineview Methodist Church in Allentown Florida. on October 22, 2023, at 2:30pm. Bring a covered dish and join us for fellowship. Also 15 great grandchildren, Byrce, Zemma, Mattie, Brynlee, Zaiden, Zaylee, Braxton, Emmersyn, West, Dallas, Lillyanna, Ezeckiel, Waylon, Loretta, and Walker.

Almie is survived by several nephews, great-nephews and their wives; and several nieces, great-nieces, and their husbands.

Joan was born and raised in Gaastra, MI, the oldest of three children born to the late John and Jean Piwarski. After graduating from nearby Stambaugh High School, she attended Nursing School at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN and became a Registered Nurse. It was there that she met her husband of 63 years, Bob Nowicki, from Chicago, IL. Upon marrying in Gaastra, MI, they moved to the Chicago area of Homewood, IL and started their family. In 1974, with three daughters and a dog in tow, they relocated back to where they first met and called Rochester their home for 50 years. Joan’s passion and pride came from being a dedicated and loving wife and mother and making sure her family was safe, happy, healthy, and loved. In her free time, she enjoyed being active both as a participant and a follower of sports. She enjoyed playing tennis, golf, bowling, bridge, bingo, and hanging out with her friends. She was also an unwavering supporter of The Minnesota Twins, The Minnesota Vikings, and The Minnesota Wild!

Joan is preceded in death by her parents, John and Jean Piwarski; two grandsons, Nicholas and Zachary Burt; her parents-in-law, Bruno and Sally Nowicki; and brother-in-law, Dennis Nowicki.

One of his favorite past times was singing old country and gospel songs. He loved playing the guitar with his dad, brothers, nephews and grandchildren on the front porch. James had a way with animals. He was good at caring for them. He especially loved raising his roosters, chickens, horses and dogs. James had a heart of gold. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
