Pre-deceased by her parents, Eugene and Barbara Switzer, her brother Eugene Jr. and her loving husband, Edward Wingler in 2019. Alicia's spirit, a reflection of the love and guidance they provided, will be forever cherished by those who knew her. Alicia's journey through life eventually led her to Spotswood where she could be found brightening the day of patrons with her delicious creations as a baker at Shoprite in Spotswood.
She found beauty and solace in the presence of her cherished dogs, Abby and Shirley, who were her constant companions and a source of immeasurable joy. Alicia's love for her dogs was matched only by her fondness for flowers and butterflies, which inspired her hobby of making exquisite paper flowers.
Alicia's memory will be treasured by her devoted sister, Andrea and her husband Tom Bialoblocki of Spotswood, who stood by her through all of life's highs and lows. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her nieces and nephews Kieran, Brittany, and Christopher. She especially had a special bond with her niece Olivia who was her most favorite.
Those who knew Alicia understood that her life was a reflection of the things she held dear - family, friends, and the simple pleasures that each day can bring. Obituary Preview: Francis M. Whelan, 83, known affectionately to friends and family as Frank, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2024, at his home in Keansburg. He was born and raised in Greenwich Village, New York, prior to moving to Keansburg in 1969. Frank's life was one of steadfast love and commitment, illustrated by his beautiful marriage of 61 years to his loving wife, Maureen Whelan. Together, they built a family that became Frank's pride and joy. He was a devoted father to his two sons, Patrick (Alekandra) Whelan and Frank Whelan, and cherished the time spent with his two grandchildren, Gaby and Amanda, as well as his two great-grandchildren, Simon and Ellis. The legacy of Frank's gentle spirit and wisdom will live on through them. In his professional life, Frank was a respected figure on Wall Street, where he served as an order processor. His career was defined by his hard work and integrity, leading to a successful tenure at Lobe Partners in New York, from which he eventually retired.
He enjoyed his trips to Atlantic City, where he found joy in the thrill of the game and the camaraderie around the bingo tables. Frank was an avid fan of the Knicks and the Yankees, supporting his teams through thick and thin.
Frank's character was one of admirable simplicity; he was a good man, whose actions spoke louder than words with his dedication to his family and friends. As a husband, he was tender and affectionate; as a father, he was supportive and nurturing. The loss of Frank M. Whelan will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to know him. She was born in Dunellen and was raised and was a life-long resident of Highlands.
Sheila was a homemaker. She loved watching her grandkids and encouraged family traditions. She enjoyed playing the Lottery, family game nights and trips to Atlantic City.
Sheila was pre-deceased by her parents, Stanley and Irene Wojdylak Sr. She is survived by her son, Kevin (Kelsey) O’Donnell; her daughter, Heather Hargrove; her brother, Stanley (Michele) Wojdylak Jr.; her grandchildren, Kevin III, Jaxson, Kennedy and Kinley; her niece and nephew, Jenn Dyson and Stanley Wojdylak III.

Claudia C Kemp - May 17, 1951 - April 09, 2024

Obituary Preview: Claudia Christine Kemp (known as Chris), 72, of Middletown, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2024 at home with her family. Born on May 17, 1951, in Point Pleasant, she was raised in Manasquan. Later in life Claudia  moved to Florida before returning to New Jersey in 2017 to live with her daughter and family.
Claudia's path was illuminated by the love of her family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, David Kemp, in 2017. Claudia was also predeceased by her two brothers, Louis Franz and Robert Blaine as well as her parents Claudia Caragius and  Jesse Blaine. Claudia's spirit is carried on by her daughter Stephanie (Ed) Applegate and their children Ryan and Alexis. Claudia was so proud of Ryan who is becoming a police officer and loved Alexis “to the moon and back”. Claudia’s spirit is also carried on by her son Robert (Nichol) Mihalenko and their beautiful daughter Mackenzie. Claudia also had a very special place in her heart for her grandson Tyler.  Professionally, Claudia worked at The Methodist Homes in Neptune, where she served as a bookkeeper before moving to Florida where she had a couple different bookkeeping jobs.
Claudia enjoyed cross-stitching and making latch hook rugs as well as cross word puzzles. She also enjoyed music, especially the “Oldies”. Claudia traveled on many cruises with her husband David.  As the years went by, Claudia found solace and excitement in the stories unraveled in her favorite TV shows, with "General Hospital" holding a special place in her daily routine. She was also an avid reader, losing herself in the pages of books especially by author Danielle Steele.
Claudia Kemp's life was a life of struggles, love, passion, and strength till the very end. We honor her life by cherishing the moments we shared and by embracing the love she gave. Rest in peace, dear Claudia, knowing that your story is far from over; it lives on in the beautiful family you've left behind. May  you forever rest in peace free of pain and struggles.

Born on March 28, 1953, in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, she moved to the United States when she was 3 and was raised in Brooklyn, NY prior to moving to New Jersey.  Margie's infectious smile and kind spirit were a gift to all who knew her from the very beginning. Margie's life was one of devotion and love, especially to her family, who meant the world to her. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jaime Cruz, in 1995, who was a Veteran of the US Army during Vietnam. Margie and her sons where very proud of him. Her legacy is carried on by her two loving sons, Benjamin and Robert Cruz, who were the center of her universe. Margie's twin brother, Angel Rivera, and his wife Lydia, her sister, Patricia Cruz, and her husband Jose Peralta. The family circle extended too many nieces, nephews, and relatives who were touched by her nurturing presence. Though Margie did not pursue a career outside her home, she was far from idle. She poured her heart into homemaking, transforming her home into a sanctuary of love and comfort for her family and friends. Her home was often filled with the aroma of her cooking, as she delighted in preparing meals and inviting neighbors over. The warmth and welcome she extended to everyone who crossed her threshold. Margie's love for fishing and her endless appreciation for the beach. The tranquility of the waves and the joy of a catch were sources of immense pleasure for her.
Community was everything to Margie, and she always looked out for her neighbors, with her kindness and generosity. Whether it was through a thoughtful gesture or a helping hand, Margie's spirit of giving knew no bounds. Her friends were her extended family, and the bonds she formed were as deep as they were sincere. Above all, Margie was a loving mother. Her sons were her pride and joy, and she dedicated her life to their happiness and well-being.
Margarita Cruz's life was a testament to the power of love, the beauty of friendship, and the importance of family. As we say goodbye to Margie, we hold tight to the memories, the laughter, and the love she shared so freely.

Judith lived a vibrant and loving life, filled with joy, music, and cherished moments with her family. Pre-deceased by her parents, John and Emma Doneman, and her beloved husband Charles McAllister, Judith's legacy of warmth and kindness is carried forward by those she leaves behind. She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia McAllister Hicks (Matthew) and Judie McAllister Deacon (Richard); her grandchildren, Megan Emma Hicks and Benjamin Matthew Hicks; and her grand doggie, Leia. Her memory will also be treasured by many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and a multitude of friends whose lives she touched deeply. Judith's educational journey was marked by her graduation from the Academy of the Sacred Heart and the Katherine Gibbs School, laying a foundation for her commitment to excellence and service. She began her professional life working at US Testing in Hoboken, but her true vocation was as a dedicated homemaker and business partner alongside her husband. Together, they built a life of love and support. Her leadership and community spirit shone brightly as she took on the role of the first president of the American Legion Post 515 Ladies Auxiliary in Port Monmouth. Judith's unwavering support of veterans was further exemplified through her support of the VFW Post 2179 in Port Monmouth. Her faith was an integral part of her life, as evidenced by her active membership at St. Stephen's Catholic community in Winter Springs, FL. Judith was a Disney aficionado, cherishing every moment spent within the magical realms of Disney World. Her love for gambling was matched only by her appreciation of music, with a particular fondness for the melodies of Engelbert Humperdinck and the tunes of the 50s and 60s. Judith reveled in the experience of live music and attended concerts. Above all, Judith's favorite pastime was being surrounded by her family, sharing laughter and creating memories that would last a lifetime. Her absence will be felt deeply by all who knew her. Judith has left an indelible mark on the hearts of many and will be missed more than words can express.

Born and raised, in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico, came to the US in 1967 and lived in Jersey City, prior to moving to Keansburg 33 years ago. Santos's life was a testament to the enduring spirit of love, hard work, and dedication to family. Predeceased by his parents, Ricardo Lopez and Candida Torres Rivera, his daughter Betsy Torres, his brother Enrique Lopez, his sister Natalia Lopez, and his daughter-in-law Neysi Torres, Santos's legacy is carried on through his extensive and loving family. Santos's wife of 55 years, Estrella Lopez, remained a constant source of love and support throughout their lives together. His memory will be forever cherished by his children, Eddie (Judith) Torres, David Torres, Santos (Nida) Lopez Jr., Edwin Lopez, Carmen (Frankie) Morales, and Milagros Lopez, who will continue to honor his memory through the values he instilled in them. Santos's life was further enriched by his brother Ciano Lopez, his sisters Ortencia and Leonor Lopez, his 16 grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren, who all knew the joy of his generous spirit and the warmth of his presence. A hardworking man, his strong work ethic was also evident in the care he took in farming while he still lived in Puerto Rico. When he moved to the US, Santos was a factory worker. His commitment to providing for his family was a cornerstone of his character and one that won him the respect and admiration of all who knew him. Santos's passions extended beyond his work. He was an avid fan of the Mets, finding joy and excitement in the thrills of baseball. He relished every opportunity to share this love with his family and friends. Santos also enjoyed the entertainment of WWE wrestling, another pastime that showcased his fun-loving nature. A man who loved the outdoors, Santos found tranquility and satisfaction in fishing and crabbing. The quiet moments by the water were a source of reflection and peace for him. His love for barbecues with the family was legendary; these gatherings were filled with laughter and storytelling. Santos's green thumb was evident in his beautiful garden, a place where he nurtured plants with the same care he gave to his family. Santos Lopez lived a life full of purpose and joy with his ability to find happiness in simple pleasures and his unwavering support for his family.

Maryann Franklin - July 29, 1962 - March 16, 2024

Obituary Preview: Mary Ann Franklin, 61, of Palm Harbor, FL, formally of Keansburg, although unexpected, she passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday March 16, 2024.
Mary Ann was one of 11 children, born July 29, 1962 to Francis and Marion Brown of Hazlet. She married John Franklin of Highlands, NJ 43 years ago. Mary Ann and John Franklin lived most of their life in Keansburg, before retiring to Palm Harbor in 2017.
Mary Ann was predeceased by her parents, Marion and Francis Brown; her mother in-law, Mary Franklin; a brother, Robert Brown; a sister, Patricia Kenny; and two brother in-laws, Raymond O’Brien and Robert Franklin.
Mary Ann is survived by her beloved husband, John Franklin of FL; her loving children and spouses; John and Dede Franklin of Jacksonville FL, Regina Franklin of Bradley Beach NJ, Kelliann and Thomas Giufurta of Palm Harbor FL, Erin and Thomas Colabella of Port Monmouth NJ, and Megan Franklin of Palm Harbor FL, as well as her 17 Grandchildren; Victoria, Chase, Jack, Keeliegh, Lucas, Erika, TJ, Thomas Jr., Kaelyn, Kaiden, Travis, Kaelani, Madelyn, Lauren, Kaylene, Blake, Tanner, and 1 Great-Grandchild; Christopher. Her bond with her children and grandchildren was a source of immense happiness and fulfillment throughout her life. Mary Ann and John were very blessed.
Mary Ann is also survived by her loving brothers, Daniel Brown of Deal, Peter Brown of NY, Dennis Brown of Holmdel, And Eugene Brown of LA; and her loving sisters, Barbara O’Brien of FL and Kathleen Adlard of CA.
Mary Ann went on to be a home health aide for many years and most recently an employee of Publix in Palm Harbor FL. Mary Ann was elected to the Keansburg Board of Education, was a former member of the Keansburg PTA, and devoted much time to the Keansburg Titan’s sports and activities. She enjoyed hitting the casino and playing slots in AC. Maryann would never turn down the opportunity to join her grandkids in outdoor adventures, most recently enjoying time boating.
Mary Ann was loved by all and highly regarded in the community. Her home became a home away from home for many regardless of the situation. She accepted all as her own and became a second mother to many. She gathered many nicknames over the years from those whom she loved and those who loved her just as much. Mama Dukes, Big Lovin, Mere, Gammie Gammie. Mary Ann was more than a mom, an aunt, a wife, and a sister. She was most importantly a friend and cheerleader to all. Life will never be the same without her.

Professionally, Tom dedicated many years to Kenco Wire and Iron Products in Keansburg, where he honed his skills as a welder. His craftsmanship and attention to detail were well-known and respected, and his contributions to the industry left a lasting impact. Tom was a valued team member and a friend to many, known for his reliability and willingness to lend a hand whenever needed.
Outside of work, Tom's passions were simple but deeply fulfilling. He enjoyed going fishing.   Tom also had a talent for playing pool, often gathering with friends at local establishments to share in the camaraderie of the game. These moments of leisure were not just hobbies for Tom; they were an extension of the warm and sociable spirit that he carried with him in all aspects of his life.
Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Edna J. Kuyl, who passed in August 2023. He is survived by his wife, Donna Bailey Cooney of Keansburg. Tom also leaves behind a legacy through his children: a son, Thomas R. Cooney Jr. of Keansburg, and two daughters and sons-in-law, Chastine and Shaughn Roche, and Carriele and Michael Parks, all of Keansburg. Tom's brother, John Cooney, and sister-in-law, Janice Bell, of Keansburg, also mourn his passing.
Perhaps one of Tom's greatest joys was being a grandfather to his eight grandchildren, Sara, Sean, Ryan, Carriele, Michael, Kyle, Donovan, and Shealynn. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, March 16, 2024, from 5 PM to 7 PM. As per Tom’s wishes, he will be cremated

Obituary Preview: Thomas John Oswin Jr, 36, passed away suddenly on March 7, 2024. He was born on October 23, 1987, in Long Branch, New Jersey, and grew up in Middletown, New Jersey, where he currently resides. He was employed by Sprinkler Master of Middletown.
Tommy was a good man with a big heart.  He was the type of person who always had your back and was there when you needed him the most.  During a friend’s difficult time, he hugged him for so long, that we weren’t sure he’d ever let go.  Without hesitation, Tommy has ran into burning buildings and smoking cars to make sure everyone was okay. He received a Middletown Civilian Award after actions he took that contributed to the safety of the community.  Tommy enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and loved ones.  He enjoyed watching football and was an avid Falcons fan. As a true 80’s kid, he had a love for Ninja Turtles.  His sense of humor was sure to always put a smile on your face. Tommy was a cherished son, brother, cousin, uncle, grandson, nephew, boyfriend, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents   Richard C. Her life was marked by a deep commitment to her family, a passion for her work, and an unwavering enthusiasm for the simple pleasures life had to offer.
Predeceased by her father, Joseph McGinnis, and her brother, Richard Prevost, Donna's legacy is carried on through her beloved husband of 23 years, Jimmy Finn of Hazlet, and her devoted mother, Mary McGinnis of Ocean Township. Donna was a loving mother to her daughter, Michele Prusakowski of North Carolina, and a cherished grandmother to her granddaughter, Casey Gomez.
Her memory will also be treasured by her brothers, Michael and Ramona Prevost of Ocean Township, and Joseph and Kathy McGinnis of S. Amboy. Her sisters, Dawn and Carmine Annunziata of New York, and Rene and David Prevost-Garibaldi of Washington, NJ, and her sister-in-law, Marie Prevost, will miss her deeply. Music was one of her greatest joys, and she could often be found listening to the Rolling Stones, her favorite band. Donna had a flair for decorating and took particular delight in adorning her home for every holiday, creating a warm and festive atmosphere for all who visited.
Above all, Donna cherished her time with her family, particularly her granddaughter, Casey, who was the light of her life. Her ability to make every family gathering memorable with her laughter and love will be sorely missed.

Professionally, Sue-Sue dedicated many years as a landscaper for Sal Amsture Landscaping. Her passion for the outdoors and her creative vision brought beauty to the many gardens and green spaces she tended to with care.
Sue-Sue's interests and hobbies were a reflection of her dynamic personality. A die-hard NASCAR fan, she found joy and excitement in the world of car racing. Her own experiences racing cars at Wall Stadium were among her most treasured memories.
In her downtime, Sue-Sue could often be found meeting her friends at Jackie Keelen’s, where laughter and camaraderie were always on the menu.
Gardening was another of Sue-Sue's passions. She found solace and joy in the simple act of nurturing plants and watching them grow.
Rest in peace, dear Sue-Sue. Your memory will forever be a beacon of joy and love.

Dee was pre-deceased by her parents, the late Edward and Ruth Headden, her two sons Keith D. Rice Jr. and David G. Headden and her daughter Keisha Ann Rice.
She is survived by her adoring husband, Dennis Lewis and the love for her children was unparalleled. She was a guiding light to her daughters, Pamela (Rice) Rosko and her son in-law Ali Rosko and Penny Headden, and (Jamal) and her son, Keith Manny (Sharonda) Mott.  Dee's legacy will continue to blossom through her beloved grandchildren, John, Tanayah, Milan, Ronnie, Treshaun,  Ali Jr. and, Aaliyah, her great-grandson Luka and her close family friends Elaine, Chrissy, and Jeremy, and a host of many siblings, nieces, nephews, and adopted grandchildren.
A dedicated worker, Dee spent many years as a packer for the South River distribution center for the Museum of Modern Art. She also was a medical assistant, providing care and comfort to those in need with a gentle touch and a reassuring smile. Dee's interests were as colorful and varied as her personality. By creating beautiful pieces that she crocheted, that were as warm as her embraces. Her love for puppies was infectious and Dee was always in search of the next great shopping destination. The thrill of the game was a passion of hers, from spirited Bingo nights at St. Ann's and journeys to Connecticut, to scratching off lottery tickets in the hope of a lucky win. Her home was a hub of activity, with the television often tuned to her favorite game shows, as she enjoyed her snacks. Big family dinners and birthday celebrations were the highlights of her year, where laughter filled the air and love was served in generous portions. Above all, Dee cherished her family. Her grandchildren were the apples of her eye, and she reveled in their accomplishments and milestones. Each hug, each shared secret, each burst of laughter was a thread in the tapestry of memories they will hold dear.

Jim’s heart and his life's work were dedicated to the community of Keansburg. He was predeceased by his parents, James Sr. and Barbara Merkel, as well as his stepmother, Grace Merkel. Jim's legacy is carried forward by his loving wife of 35 years, Beth Merkel, and his devoted siblings: Terry Blake of Middletown, Sue (George) Calmon of Union Beach, Kelly Merkel (JD Shannon) of Brick, and Karen (Trevor) Kirkpatrick of Brick. His role as a cherished uncle to Janelle, Ryan, Casey, Brandon, Dylan, Kendra, and Patrick and as a great-uncle to their children, brought him immense joy. Jim's lifelong friendship with his best friend and "brother," Michael Donaldson and his wife Patricia, stood as a testament to the depth of his loyalty and love. Jim served in the US Navy as an E-4 from 1981-1985. Professionally, Jim served his community with dedication and pride as a Post Office carrier from 1987-2019. He continued to protect and serve as a part-time Fire Inspector for both Hazlet Township and Atlantic Highlands. Jim's passion for public service was further exemplified by his involvement in local governance, having been a three time member of the Board of Education in 2009 and was the Deputy Grand Marshall in 2008 for the Memorial Day Parade. Jim's commitment to fire safety and community service was unparalleled. He held the esteemed position of New Point Comfort Fire Dept. Chief in 2007 and again in 2017, and he bravely served as Assistant Chief in 2024. His contributions to the New Jersey Fireman's Relief Association as a life member, his role as Department Chairman of the Keansburg Fire Department Commissioners, and his lifetime membership in the Bayshore Active Chief's Association highlighted his unwavering dedication. Jim's leadership and guidance were also felt through the numerous executive positions he held within the Keansburg Fire Department. Beyond his service, Jim's personal interests painted the picture of a man who loved life's simple pleasures. A dad to his beloved dogs, Shamus and Lady, reflected his compassionate spirit as an animal lover. Jim found relaxation in brewing beer and casting a line while fishing. His getaways to West Virginia provided him with cherished moments of tranquility and reflection. A true sports enthusiast, Jim coached Baseball and Football for numerous years. His allegiance to the Yankees and Redskins showcased his passion and loyalty. In his leisure, he could often be found engaging in friendly competition, whether playing Cornhole, bowling, or simply enjoying the melodies of country music. Jim's life was a tapestry woven with dedication to service, the warmth of family ties, and the pursuit of his passions. His presence was a beacon of strength and compassion, and he will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his community, the joy he brought to his loved ones, and the smile that could light up any room. Chris was born on December 5, 1980, and grew up in Brick, he attended Brick high school and graduated in 2000. He earned his black belt in his teen years. He was an avid “Gym Rat” his whole life. He was a proud member of the “ADD” Allstars.
Chris was a hardworking Electrician with IBEW Local 102 Electrical Union and at the time of his passing he worked for Sal's Electric in Jersey City. Prior to joining the Electrical Union, Chris worked for the US Postal Service, which brought him to meet his wife Monica, while delivering mail at her place of work. Chris resided in Middletown, with his wife and three young children. Chris was pre deceased by his grandparents, Joe and Winnie MacDonald and Richard and Jean Rufalo; his uncle, Richard Rufalo; his cousin Max Rufalo;
He is survived by his; his loving wife Monica (Jeleniewski) MacDonald and his three young children Kennedy (8), Declan (6) and Harper (2) his parents, Robert and Deborah MacDonald; His sister, Jennifer MacDonald; his father and mother in-law, John and Clarisse Jeleniewski; his sister in-law and husband, Ashley and Mauricio Vayda; his niece, Sadie Vayda; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Chris was a life-long Raiders fan, part of the Raider Nation. He enjoyed “making gains” weight lifting at the gym and play wrestling with his kids. Chris loved watching his son Declan play flag football and Kennedy cheerleading for the Middletown Eagles. He adored his youngest daughter Harper and loved cuddling on the couch. Chris was a family man, who enjoyed the simple things in life, providing for his family and making memories together. Chris and his family enjoyed their summer vacations in Wildwood and loved mowing and caring for the neighbor’s lawns.

Predeceased by his parents, Dennis McKeon Sr. and Patricia McKeon, his brothers, Thomas and Dennis McKeon Jr., and his father-in-law, Frank Dimaira, Larry's legacy of love and dedication lives on through his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Kathleen Dimaira McKeon , and their two sons, Lawrence "LJ" McKeon Jr. and Kaden "KK" McKeon, all of whom reside in Atlantic Highlands. Larry also leaves behind his brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Donna McKeon of Middletown, Sean McKeon of Middletown, and Edward and Dana McKeon of Florida; his mother-in-law, Ann Dimaira of Atlantic Highlands; and his sisters-in-law, Jenny Dimaira of Atlantic Highlands and Patricia McKeon of South Carolina and his brother-in-law, Peter Dimaira of Florida. However, his entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as the part owner of K&L Ice Cream. With a jingle and a smile, he brought joy to many as he drove the ice cream truck through the neighborhoods of his community.
Deeply involved in local sports, Larry was a guiding force for the youth of the area, coaching wrestling at Keansburg, and basketball and baseball in Atlantic Highlands, as well as football in Middletown. His passion for mentoring young minds extended to his role as an assistant Scout Master of Troop 22 Boys Scouts in Navesink, where he shaped the lives of countless scouts with his wisdom and patience.
A man of faith and fellowship, Larry was a proud member of the Reverend Joseph J. Donnelly Knights of Columbus, where he attained the rank of a third-degree Knight. His commitment to his community was unwavering, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
An avid sports fan, Larry's enthusiasm for the Giants, Rangers, and Notre Dame was infectious, and his love for skiing was matched only by his skills in the kitchen. His culinary creations were a testament to his belief in the power of a shared meal to bring people together.
Above all, Larry's world revolved around his boys and his wife. He was a mentor to any child in need, always ready with a supportive word or a helping hand. His presence was a source of strength and comfort, and his influence will be felt for generations to come.
