Obituary Preview: Sister Betty Rose McClain was 66, and departed this life Sunday April 17, 2022 in Florence County. She was the mother of Miya McClain, Tasha McClain and Albert McClain Jr. You may visit the family at 1009 Spain Rd. Mullins.
Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the True Faith Apostolic Church, Chevy Road, Mullins on Saturday April 23, 2022 at 2:00 pm. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Marion. ~ Bett’ Celebration of Life ~ “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” IITimothy 4:7
Early Easter Sunday morning, the Lord called Betty Rose McClain to Glory. While her homegoing was unexpected, she peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home.
Betty was born on January 22, 1956, in Mullins, SC. She was the second child of the late John Allen and Aggienora Davis, along with nine other siblings. She was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and accepted Christ at an early age. She later received the gift of the Holy Ghost and became a member of the Highway Christian Church in Marion, SC. She was educated in the Marion County Public school system. Betty married Albert McClain Sr, and from this union were born Three children; Miya McClain of Savannah, Ga, Edna Latosha McClain of Mullins, SC, and Albert (Latika) McClain, Jr. of Columbia, SC. She leaves to cherish Six Grandchildren: Keitrey Howard of Virginia Beach, Va, Keith Howard, Jr. of Asheville, NC, Alayshia Howard of Savannah, Ga, Larenzo McClain, Layden
McClain, and Lauren McClain of Columbia, SC; one great-grandson, Julius Howard of Nashville, Tn.
Betty work for many years at Anvil Knitwear in Mullins, SC until she relocated to Asheville NC where she worked for Boost Transportation. While in Asheville, Betty received a Paralegal Degree, but due to a calling from God, she returned home. Once back in Mullins, she began to work for PDRTA as a bus driver where everyone knew her as “Ms. Betty”, and she remained there for the next 32 years. In 2012 she became a member of True Faith Deliverance Temple where she remained a member until her death.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, John Allen and Aggienora Davis, four siblings; Mae Vern Davis Godbolt, Marlena McBride Abrams, Dallas Davis, and Deborah Davis McBride.
She leaves to cherish five siblings: Randy (Aundra) Davis of Marion, SC, Karane Davis of Mullins, Freddie (Michelle) Davis of Mascotte, Fl, John Davis of McCalla, Al, and Tamra (Theron) Lampley of Marion, SC. As well as A host of nieces and nephews: Lakesha Davis of Mullins, Kelvin Davis of Mullins, SC, Kimery(Angel)Lewis of Columbia, SC, Malinda(Arie) Graves of Marion, SC, Tiffany (Kevin) Gerald of Mullins, Dallas McBride of Asheville, NC, Dequavis Davis of Raleigh, NC, Miracle McBride of Florence, SC, Jejuan Davis of Trenton, NJ, April (Khary) Fenderson of Trenton, NJ, Kristen Davis of Mullins, SC, Fredrieka Davis of Mascotte, Fl, Freddie (Sarah) Davis of Legrande, Ga, Sylvetta Reaves of Charlotte, NC, Janique Davis of College Park, Tx, Mychal Godbolt of Austin, Tx, Travis Reaves of Columbia, SC, Richard Anthony of Nashville, Tn, Nora Davis of Dallas, Ga, Keshon Lampley of Dillon, SC.
Betty has a loving host of in-laws Two Sisters-in-law, Edna Smith & Elizabeth Swinton Four Brother-in-laws Roosevelt McClain (Leola), Willie (Winnie) McClain, Charles McClain, and Andrew McClain. Fourteen Nieces Tammy Swinton, Penny Swinton, Avis Swinton, Felicia Swinton, Samantha Williams, Mary McClain, Lynette McClain, Jennifer Horton, Jessica McClain, Kim McClain, Wanda McClain, Christina Davis, Ashley Legette, and Brenda Frieson. Ten Nephews Willie Lee Swinton, Tony Swinton, Eric Swinton, Ernest McClain Jerome McClain, Andrew McClain, Walter Davis, Willie Davis, Curtis Campbell, and Anthony Campbell.
She also has a grand host of great-nieces and nephews and friends. Betty was known by so many and loved by all. Her special friends were Anne, Cat, Minnie, and Lynn.

Mary Frances (Pee) Eaddy was born June 30, 1936, in Centenary, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late (Mr. and Mrs.) John and Roseta (Bowens) Pee. Mary was preceded in death by her late husband, James Eaddy Jr., her siblings Ezekiel Pee, Willie Ann Freeman, and John Junior Pee.
Mary attended and graduated from Terrell’s Bay High School. She was the first female bus driver in Marion County for Terrell’s Bay HS. Mary married and moved away for a while because her husband was in the US Army.
She was a faithful member at White Hill Missionary Baptist Church for fifty plus years. She was the musician, lead singer, Sunday School teacher, Pastor’s Aid President, head cook, and Missionary. Mary was a committed member who believed in serving the pastor, congregation, and the Kingdom of the Lord. She not only served in the church but also the community. She played the piano for Bethel AME Church for years. She offered her musician skills to the community when they needed a musician for funerals, church anniversaries and evening programs. Mary was just always willing to help whenever she was needed.
Mary is survived by her children: James A. Eaddy of the home; Angela D. Johnson, of Mullins, SC; Sharon J. Owens (Ricky) of Mullins, SC; Lorriann McClure (Bernard) of Hinesville, GA; and Tyrone Eaddy (Friend, Mary Jane) of Hinesville, GA; 11 grandchildren, 11great-grandchildren; three foster children, Kendrick, Dominic and Allen Brice; two god-children Janien (Ben) Howell of Boydton,Virginia; and Michelle Howell of Florence, SC; one Aunt, Fredrener Pee, of Centenary, SC; three brothers, James F. Pee (Gladys) of Marion, SC; Charles E. Pee (Glen) of Penderboro, SC; and Michaël E. Patricia Hines Johnson was born on March 29, 1945, to the late Robert and Annie Rea Hines.  She made her transition from earth to glory to be with her Heavenly Father on April 12, 2022, at her home in Marion, South Carolina.
“Ms. Pat” successfully graduated from Johnakin High School, Class of 1963.  She was a cheerleader.  She didn’t like math!  After high school, Mother Johnson became a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) starting out in Marion Memorial Hospital.  She will be greatly remembered for her acts of kindness and patience shown to everyone of her patients.  She trained future nurses and CNAs.  She was formerly married to Reverend Dr. Willie R Johnson, together they have the beautiful daughter Raenette Johnson of Marion, SC.
Ms. Patricia Johnson joined the Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church many years ago and served over 30 years in whatever capacity was needed.  Mother Johnson loved the Lord Jesus Christ and she was not ashamed to tell anyone.  She loved cooking tasty meals, watching television shows such as Texas Walker Ranger and game shows.  She liked sleeping with her hands on her waist like Al Bundy and yelling “BINGO”.
Patricia Johnson was preceded in death by her son, Patrick Lenair Johnson, her sisters Mary Ila Waiters and Arletha Hines.
She leaves to cherish fond and loving memories: one loving sister, Jacqueline Bethea of Marion, SC; one loving and devoted brother, Jack (Genine) Davis Jr. Of Washington, D.C.; four God-sisters:  Sandra Bethea and Betty Inman of Marion, SC, JoAnn (Larry) Langdon of Maryland and Bessie (Ervin) Burrell of New York; one loving and devoted daughter, Raenette Johnson of Marion, SC; one daughter-in-law, Joyce Johnson; two loving sons, Kelvin (Natasha) Gurley of Des Moines, Iowa and Kenneth Johnson of (Tammy) Baltimore, Maryland; special cousins, Lorine Nichols and Faye Davis; twelve grandchildren:  Patrice, Teairra, Deven, Patrick Jr., Shameirra, Remeirrez, Zerrick, Zavier, Harlem, Gia, Ezra, and Seriya; seven great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mrs. Carol Godbolt Williams was born in Dillon County Sough Carolina on July 25, 1954.  She was the daughter of the late Mr. Earl and Mrs. Savannah Godbolt.  She placed her sword in the sands of time to study on no more on Friday April 1, following an extended illness. Carol was blessed with two beautiful children.  Mrs. Toni Williams (Michael) Abram and Mr. Cameron (Tamya) Godbolt.
Carol, was educated in Marion County and was a 1972 graduate of Marion High School.  Following graduation Carol attended and received her certification in Business Administration from Marion-County Vocational Center.  This certification led Carol to become employed with Marion County Dept. of Social Services.  Carol tenure at Marion County DSS spanned 35 years. Carol was a faithful member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church for fifty plus years.  During this time, she held many positions, the finance dept, culinary dept, she was a member of several choirs, hospitality pastor’s aide.  Carol never refused to serve her church.  A quiet member whose presence and dedication will never be replaced.
Carol, leaves to cherish her fond memories, her primary caretaker a loving and devoted daughter Toni of Marion, SC and a loving son Cameron of Greenville, SC.  A nephew who was reared in her home and became a second son Mr. Craig (Latrena) Godbolt of Fayetteville, NC.  Two beautiful grandchildren, who were the apple of her eye, Master Ahmad and Princess Micha.  These two were G momma heartbeats.  Three brothers, Mr. Earl Godbolt Jr. of Marion, SC, Mr. Curtis (Helen) Godbolt also of Marion, SC, Mr. Sylvester (Pearl) Godbolt of Sumter, SC.  Three sisters Mrs. Lillie Kate Walker of Plainfield, NJ, Mrs. Mellie Huggins of Philadelphia, Pa, and Mrs. Betty Campbell of Augusta, Ga, a very special niece Mr. Romell Washington of Portsmouth, Va.  Two deceased brothers Mr. Clarence Godbolt and Mr. Alphonzo Godbolt, two deceased sisters Ms. Dora Godbolt, and infant Mary Ida Godbolt, two deceased grandchildren, Master Cameron Godbolt and Princess Maleah Godbolt. Carol memories will also be cherished by a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Jennifer Brown 58 was born on ???? She was the daughter of the late JC and Janie C. Brown. She departed this earthly life on Monday, March 28, 2022 at her residence in Mullins, South Carolina.
Jennifer attended the public schools in lower Marion County, Terrell’s Bay High School in Centenary, South Carolina.  She was a member of Mount Olive Seventh Day Adventist Church, Marion, South Carolina. Jennifer was like a mother to many. If you were hungry she fed you, if you needed a place to stay she would put a roof over your head. She was such a nice woman, maybe even too nice. Everybody wanted a plate from “Mama Jenny.” we love you Mama Jenny and will miss you!!!

Preston was born August 27,1975 in West Palm Beach, Florida to Mr. Bernard and Arlene Gerald.
Preston was educated in the public schools of West Palm Beach Florida, and Marion County.
Preston was employed at Leisure Pools in Marion, SC where he was a faithful and dedicated worker. “Preston The Person”
Preston absolutely loved his family, especially his beautiful grandbaby Ryleigh. Ryleigh was his pride and joy, his little muffin. Preston was truly an extrovert. He loved interacting with his family and friends. Preston was always willing to lend a helping hand to whomever, whenever he was around no matter the task. Preston was a wonderful cook. He really enjoyed cooking out, and deep-frying fish at our family get togethers. Our Beloved Preston will certainly be missed.

On March 27, 2022, Marilyn Deloris Harps quietly and peacefully slipped away to be with the Lord.
Marilyn was born to the late Jerome and Mary F. Harps on September 2, 1954 in Marion, South Carolina.
Marilyn attended the public schools of Marion, SC.  She attended Wise Chapel AME Church as a child.
Marilyn moved to Columbia, SC at an early age. She worked at the Babcock Center, for many years, in housekeeping until she retired. She resided in an independent living program at Babcock. She later was moved to an independent living program at Bridgewood Apt. Chestco Corp. in Columbia.
Marilyn was an humble and loving person. She especially loved her family. She always greeted you with a smile and hug when possible.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Jerome and Mary Harps, three brothers: Jerome Harps Jr., Acie Lee Harps Sr., Letrone ‘Pop’ Harps; sister: Janis Harps; and nephew: Treymayne Harps.

Henry was passionate about everything, always happy, a little shy, and had a smile on his face. He never met a stranger, and he was just a very loving person. For that Henry was known as “Buddy or Possum” his nicknames speak for itself.

During the quiet still morning hours of March 22, 2022 Mrs. Remell Bennett departed this life in Atlanta, GA.
Remell was born on November 11, 1943 to the late Douglas Abraham and the late Azalea Graves Abraham.  She received her education in the Marion County School System and graduated from Terrell's Bay High School in the Class of 1962.  It was in the Friendship Community that she met the love of her life, Mr. Pearley Lee Bennett.  They wed in 1967 and  were married  for 37 years until his death.
Remell accepted Christ Jesus as her Lord and Savior at an early age and devoted herself to Friendship AME Church, where she served as the President of the Pulpit Aid, a member of the Communion Committee, the Kitchen Committee, the Friendship AME Senior Choir, and the gospel group The Sensationals.
Remell had several jobs that she loved, but the most noted was Walmart, where she was employed for over 17 years.  Affectionately known as "Mel" or "Momma Mel" she became a mother figure to many of her co-workers and customers alike.
Anyone who knew Remell knew that she had a heart of gold.  She touched many lives and had several close friends whom she loved dearly.  She enjoyed the simple things in life, such as going to church, shopping, and socializing with her friends.  Her death has left many people  saying, "Lord, who am I going to talk to now?"  She will truly be missed. Remell was preceded in death by her sister,  Mable Davidson; and two brothers, Mr. Patrick Graves Abraham and Mr. Clarence Abraham. She leaves to cherish fond and loving memories two children:  Mr. Clifton Tyrone Bennett of Marion, SC and Tanya Bennett Brown (Bryant) of Atlanta, Ga; three grandchildren: Mr. Camry Bennett of Atlanta GA, Miss Zasha Bennett of Marion SC, and Mr. Jaylin Robinson of Atlanta GA; two brothers: Mr. Benny Abraham (Geneva) of Gresham, SC and Mr. John Hughes of East Windsor, NJ and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

Kelvin Antonio Foxworth, the son of Lola Bell Foxworth and the late Shavis Foxworth, Sr. was born in Marion, South Carolina on June 20, 1962.
Kelvin received his education in the public schools of Marion County, South Carolina.  He was a graduate of Marion High School class of 1980.  He was a woodworking instructor at Florence County Disabilities.  During that time he was instrumental in creating many woodworking products such as seasonal lawn ornaments and children’s rocking horses of many intriguing designs. He was previously employed with Mullins Leaf, Red Carpet, Harbor Freight, and RV Park in Florence, SC.
He accepted Christ at an early age and was a lifelong member of the Greater Singletary AME Church.  He was a member of the Greater Singletary Spiritualets Choir.
During his early years, he served as a member of the Boy Scouts of America.
Kelvin was affectionately known to his family  as “Captain the Colonel” a name bestowed upon him by his Grandmother Nelly and later called the “The General,” a  promotional name given to him by Uncle T.L.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Carol (Vivian) Foxworth, and a sister:  Mildred (Nathaniel) Ivory.
