Obituary Preview: Northbridge- Kenneth W. Morvan, 64, passed away on Sat., April 16, 2022 at UMass Hospital in Worcester after being stricken ill.
He is survived by a daughter, Amy Murphy of Northbridge; 5 siblings, Beverly Chaput, Donna Beardsley, Gary Morvan, and Bill Morvan all of Northbridge, and Gail Berti of Grafton, as well as 3 generations of many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Donald, and Joseph; and 4 sisters, Pat, Brenda, Diane, and Marcia.
Born in Northbridge on September 22, 1957 he was son of the late William and Florence (Mcquade) Morvan and grew up in Northbridge, where he resided all his life. He was educated from the Northbridge public school system and worked as a drywall installer.
Kenny was an adventurous, happy go lucky guy, always looking for a good time and some laughs. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, horseback riding, fishing, and swimming. He had his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying out of the Hopedale Airport with his nieces and nephews. He will be remembered as a lady’s man who liked to party.
As to his wishes, Kenny will be cremated and there will not be any services. A celebration of Kenny’s life will be announced at a later date. Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville, are handling arrangements.

He is also survived by his 2 children, Nancy Crawford of Naples, FL and Michael Crawford and his wife Mia of Whitinsville; 3 grandchildren, Brendan, Ryan, and James; 2 great-grandsons, Beau and Colt; in-laws, Beverly Crawford of Worcester, Glory Crawford of Auburn, Alice Labrecque of Whitinsville, Beverly Labrecque of Rockledge, FL,   and Sandra Woodcome and Sylvia Beaumont both of Whitinsville, and special cousins, Judith and Bob Burke of Milford; and many nieces and nephews. His son John Crawford passed away in 2011. He was brother of the late Hugh Crawford, Edward Crawford, and Julia Crawford-Miller.
Born in Worcester, MA on June 25, 1940 he was the son of Walter J. and Mary (Tringuk) Crawford and grew up in Worcester, graduating from Worcester Boy’s Trade.  Mr. Crawford worked as a maintenance mechanic at GE Telechron in Ashland. He also worked several years for the Postal Service in Shrewsbury. He served in the US Army and in the Honor Guard for President Kennedy ‘s Inauguration.
Walter belonged to the Oliver Ashton American Legion and enjoyed bowling and golf over the years. His greatest joy however was attending his sons and grandson’s sporting events. He will be remembered as a kind and thoughtful man and will be missed by everyone whose lives he touched. She is survived by her 2 children, Donna M. Lariviere of Northbridge and Paul W. Montville and his wife Keri of Fitchburg; 7 grandchildren, Kristin Toloczko and her husband Jon of Northbridge, Trevor Montville and his wife Danielle of Killingly, CT, Erica Lariviere of Northbridge, Nicholas Stebbins of Fitchburg, Troy Montville and his wife Sarah of Franklin, Nathan Stebbins of Fitchburg, and Cheyenne Montville of Fitchburg; 4 great-grandchildren, Aubrey, whom she affectionately called “her princess,” Evelyn, Kendra, and Tommy; her sister, Pauline Malinowski of Northbridge, and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Roger Bernard and Georgette Bishop.
Born in Uxbridge, MA on December 23, 1930, she was the daughter of Alfred and Marie L. (Letourneau) Bernard and grew up in Linwood. She lived in Linwood for 37 years until she and her husband had their house built in Northbridge on Highland St. in 1967. Always a hard-working woman, she worked for the former Rockdale Mill, Telechron in Ashland (formerly GE), then for Zymark in Hopkinton where she worked into her 80’s, retiring in 2011.
Theresa and her husband loved travelling, both inside and outside of the U.S., and they frequently went ballroom dancing at the former Lakeview Ballroom in Mendon. She also enjoyed taking trips to Foxwoods, playing bingo, and playing cards with friends. She and her great-granddaughter, Aubrey, would often play Rack-O at home for scratch ticket prizes. She was an animal lover, especially her great-grand dog Tucker, aka “Poopsie,” and was an avid Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. Above all, she loved all of her family and looked forward to holidays and weekly family dinners.

He is survived by his son Theodore "Ted" Harper of Leominster; a daughter, Karen Chansky and her husband Paul of Arundel, ME; 2 siblings, Bradford Harper and his wife Lucille of Whitinsville, and Elaine Miller also of Whitinsville, as well as many nieces, and nephews, and 2 sister in-laws, Nancy (Morin) Harper, and Nancy (Johnson) Harper. He also leaves his “4-legged friend” his cat, Blackie. He was predeceased by 3 siblings, Carl Harper, Peter Harper, and Beverly Weinmann.
Born in Milford on August 30, 1930 Owen grew up in Uxbridge. He was a Northbridge High School graduate and furthered his education earning an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Worcester Junior College. A veteran of the Korean War era, Owen served as a Sergeant in the U.S Air Force from 1950-1954 and was stationed in England. He worked many years as a Salesman for various chemical companies servicing the paper industry in Maine.  After his retirement in 2000, he continued to work part-time providing transportation services to the elderly and physically challenged, which he did well into his 80’s. He was a resident of Lunenburg for 58 years.
Owen was a big fan of Jazz music, and even played the trumpet in his younger years. He also enjoyed horseracing and spent nearly every August in Saratoga attending the Travers Stakes and various races, and he was an avid golfer. While he was in the service Owen was a middle weight boxer, and continued to be a fan of boxing throughout his life.

She is survived by her three children and six grandchildren, Debra McCarthy and her husband Jack of Estero, FL, and their two children, Taylor and husband Michael Catalina of Vernon, CT and Conor of Webster; John B. Kelliher lll and his wife Lori of Sandwich, and their two children, John B Kelliher IV and wife Kirsti of Myrtle Beach, SC., and Daniel of Sandwich; Eric Kelliher and his partner Kim Chilingirian of Salisbury, MA, and his two children Grace and Thomas of Shrewsbury.  She was predeceased by her daughter Christine E. Kelliher and siblings, Varteras Varteresian, Anna Hagopian, Ethel Asadoorian, and Alice Garabedian.  Auntie Joy will be greatly missed by her many nieces and nephews.
Born in Newton on December 24, 1934, she was the daughter of Maderos and Ogenie (Harangi) Varteresian.  Joy lived in Auburn for the past 6 years, previously living in Centerville and Whitinsville.  She was a graduate of Northbridge Public Schools, and started her career in finance at the Credit Union in the Whitin Machine Works, before moving to Cape Cod with her husband in 1979.  She worked for Cape Cod Anesthesia Assoc. and was the bookkeeper for the family-owned business, New Village Square Realty Trust, in Sandwich before her retirement.
Joy and her husband Jack loved spending time on Cape Cod beaches, taking in many sunsets.  She enjoyed traveling with her family.  Some of her favorite vacations destinations included - the Caribbean, Florida, Hawaii and the White Mountains of New Hampshire.  Her grandchildren will cherish the many memories of their overnight stays at “Grammy’s House”.   She enjoyed quilting and crocheting with her friends, but her true love was cooking, especially for holiday gatherings.  She was a member of St. Patrick’s Parish in Whitinsville and Our Lady of Victory Parish in Centerville, where she was a devoted member of the Friday Grandmother’s Prayer Group.
The family would like to thank the staff at Life Care Center of Auburn and the nurses from New England Hospice for their compassionate care.

She is survived by her son, Darrin A. and his wife Krissy Reese of Chelmsford; 7 grandchildren, Alicia Grose, Allison Reese, Krystal Fantasia, Russel Gilbert, William Gilbert, Amanda Trudell, Brandon Trudell, Kira Trudell, and Michael Trudell; 7 great-grandchildren, Victoria Foster, Kendall Gilbert, Nathan Gilbert, David Grose, Lilly Grose, Ava Grose and Rose; 2 sisters, Lillian Ley and Nancy Owyby both of Richmond, VA, and many nieces and nephews. Peg was predeceased by her children Darlene Trudell, and infant David Reese, and by her grandson Kenneth Foster. She was sister of the late June Smith, Fred Jorgensen, and Judy Grose as well.
Born in Geneva, NY on Feb. 15, 1931 she was the daughter of Elmer S. and Hermine (Stuart) Jorgensen and previously lived at the School Street Apartments for 10 years, and before that she resided in Bellingham and Millis. Raised mainly in upstate New York, Peg’s ex husband served in the military, so she lived in many places after getting married.
Mrs. Reese was the head cook for Medvale Nursing Home in Medfield for 35 years. She also loved children and was a babysitter over the years. Affectionately known as ‘everyone’s mom’, Peg loved telling jokes, occasionally dirty jokes, and spending time with family and friends. She was an excellent baker and often showed her affection to family and friends by baking up delicious cookies and cakes. She will be forever remembered for her tremendous sense of humor, and her warm loving nature. Margaret’s memorial calling hours will be held from Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville on Saturday, March 26th from 5-7 PM. Her burial will take place in Seneca Falls, NY. Sansoucy and her husband Steve of Linwood; 2 grandchildren, Dan Briand of Shrewsbury, and Lauren Briand and her partner Steve Sarchione of Las Vegas, NV; a great- granddaughter, Sienna Tallulah Sarchione of Las Vegas, NV; many nieces, nephews, and in-laws, Andra Young, Dr. Dennis and Anne Feen, Richard and Kathy Feen, Diane and Jim Sears and Terence and Joyce Feen. She was also predeceased by siblings, Dorothy Kosciak, Raymond Young, John “Jack” Young, Paul Young and Peter Young.
Born in Whitinsville on July 27, 1932, Betty was the daughter of Peter and Margaret (Melia) Young. She attended Northbridge Public Schools and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Milford. She was “the face of Friendly’s” in Whitinsville where she waitressed for 40 years. She loved traveling with family and had been to Ireland 6 times. Her biggest joy was spending time with her family and friends, and opening her home to those she loved. She always enjoyed dining out, shopping, and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. She and her girlfriends, bowled on the K of C Keglerette bowling league for many years. Betty was a beautiful, kind and fun-loving soul and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a life-long parishioner of St Patrick’s Church and participated in their Spin Action ministry.
Her family would like to extend a special thank you to Darlene, Marie, Chris, Jane and the JHC staff for their love and wonderful care shown to Betty. Her funeral will be held on Sat. She is survived by 11 nieces and nephews, Cathy Briand-James, Joanne Briand, John Briand, Elizabeth Brodeur, Jean Goodwin, Janet Briand, David Levesque, Susan Levesque-Short, John Levesque, Joan Levesque-Arguin, and Robert Levesque; a brother in-law, Peter Loughlin, as well as many great-nieces and nephews and extended family. She was also predeceased by her brother Joseph Briand; 2 sisters, Rose Kerwin, and Margaret Maynard, and recently her niece Barbara Levesque.
Born in South Grafton on Feb. 29, 1928 she was the daughter of Arthur and Mary (Martell) Briand and grew up in Grafton. Anne attended Grafton Public schools and graduated from Putnam Catholic Academy in Putnam, CT. She worked in the Credit Dept. for the former Whitin Machine Works, and then for the former Denholm & McKays Department Store in Worcester where she worked for many years until her retirement.
Anne was a social, bubbly woman who loved life and always lit up the room. She enjoyed playing bingo, scratch tickets, word search puzzles, and playing cards, especially solitaire. A woman of great faith, Anne was a longtime parishioner of both Our lady of Lourdes, and Our Lady of Loretto Parishes in Worcester.
Anne was a resident of Beaumont/ AdviniaCare for the past 3 years and her family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff there for their kindness and support shown to Anne.

He is survived by 3 sons, John E. and his wife Jennifer Gosselin of Dudley, James A. and his wife Kelley of Northbridge, and Steven D. and his wife Katrine of Golden, CO; 4 grandchildren, Casey, Colin, Mikaela, and Trinity; 2 sisters, Doris Marie Moore of San Antonio, TX, and Jane T. Imholte of McLean, VA, and several nephews and nieces. Born in Worcester on April 2, 1940 he was the son of Joseph “Henry” and Florence (Gauthier) Gosselin and lived in Whitinsville most of his life. He was predeceased by 2 siblings, Richard Gosselin and Ann May Convery.
Mr. Gosselin was a graduate of Northbridge High school class of 1958, and Worcester State College where he earned both his Bachelors and Masters of Education degrees. He was an educator for 15 years, teaching Life Sciences at the Oxford Middle School, and Medway Public School. He then worked for the USPS. in Westborough for 21 years, retiring in 2005.
Donald served in the U.S Army National guard and was a past member of the Mumford Council Knights of Columbus, and the Northbridge Historical Commission, where he wrote a book about the former Whitin Machine Works. He  enjoyed singing with the Northborough Community Chorus since 1993, visiting the Senior Center, reading, singing, stamp collecting, and enjoyed country and classic music. He was a man of great faith and was very involved with his parish, St. Peters Church. He was a Eucharistic minister, and helped every year organize and set up for their holiday bazaar.

Born in Worcester on January 19, 1937 she was the daughter of Earle H. and Geneva B. (Bray) Treworgy and grew up and was a lifelong resident of Whitinsville. She is survived by cousins, Doris Yore of Woolwich, ME, Deirdre Jewett and her children Nicole and Nathaniel Jewett also of Woolwich, ME as well as good friends including Ken, Donna and Paul.
Donna attended Northbridge public schools and then furthered her education earning an Associate’s degree in Banking and Finance. She was Vice President at Sovereign Bank in Rhode Island for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed traveling and visiting with family in Maine during the summers, and was active in her church group over the years.

Isabelle and her partner Timothy Stevens of Windsor Locks, CT; 5 grandchildren, Justin Castell and his wife Kelsey of Whitinsville; Gerald N. Isabelle III and his wife Tara of Bossier City, Louisiana; Stacy Castell of Whitinsville; Dominick Yacino and his wife Nichole of Danielson, CT; Anthony Yacino and his partner Yoselin Lopez of Bristol, CT; and five great grandchildren, Natalie, Seth, Gracyn, Alex and Angelina. She was also predeceased by her sister Colleen Lewis.
Born in Uxbridge on February 6, 1938, Joyce was the daughter of Clarence and Edla Edwards. She attended and graduated from the Uxbridge Public School system. She lived in Uxbridge and Whitinsville through the early 90’s and then moved to Tarpon Springs, Florida where she resided until moving back to Whitinsville in 2010.
Though many of her memories faded, she never forgot time spent on Cape Cod when she was a child nor did she forget her favorite grand dog, Remy whom she cared for when his parents were at work or on vacation. She loved to read, crochet and cook. Her blankets and recipes will be enjoyed for many years to come.
Her family would like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers at Blackstone Valley Health and Rehab and the JHC hospice team for taking care of her these last few years.

Born in Moosop, Connecticut on March 29, 1924 he was the son of Henry and Aura (Frechette) Comtois and was raised in South Grafton. Alfred worked many years in the stock room for Dennison Manufacturing Co. in Framingham until his retirement. A simple man, Gene enjoyed good music and dining out. He was a resident of Rockdale for 70 years.

Thomas worked as a sheet metal mechanic for Victory Heating and Air Conditioning in Bellingham as well as several other companies including Comfort Air Systems. Educated in the Northbridge school system and Our Lady of the Valley School, he was a 1996 graduate of Holy Name High School.  Always an outdoorsman, Tommy loved a good campfire, fresh water fishing, ice fishing, and belonged to the local Bass Master Group. He also bowled at Sparetime Bowling in Whitinsville in a league for many years, and enjoyed spending time with his two faithful German Shepherds, Jasmine & Shadow. He worked many years as an Assistant Buyer for NEC Technologies in Boxborough before retiring.         A huge music lover, Don was an avid member of the Valley-Airs Drum Corps, and managed them for several years, and even drove the bus for shows. In his younger years, he and his wife Patricia enjoyed going out and dancing often, they especially liked Rock n’ Roll bands. Previously he worked for Riverdale Mills 24 years and Ford Motor Co. 18 years. A graduate of Northbridge High School, Class of 1970, he was a member of the MA Lobsterman’s Association. Family meant everything to Peter. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all. He will be remembered as a generous family man, who was always ready to lend a hand, while putting others ahead of himself. Tom taught in the Worcester Public Schools for 36 years, retiring from the position of Mathematics Department Head at North High School.  He enjoyed his membership in the Worcester Men of Song for over 65 years, where he sang in  quartets, including The Razor Sharps and The Mello-Deans.  He and his family enjoyed a vacation home at Priscilla Beach, Plymouth.  His retirement included many travel destinations in various countries.  He traveled with family and friends and developed friendships with lads in his favorite destinations, Ireland, England and Mexico. He also enjoyed Christmas vacations in the Bahamas with family.  Tom held memberships in professional and social organizations and served on the Northbridge Finance Committee for many years.
He leaves his wife of 60 years, Ann Mulligan O’Brien, their daughter Erin Anderson and husband Mark, their son Timothy O’Brien and wife Andrea.   He leaves 3 granddaughters, Katie, Julia, and Emily O’Brien as well as his brother James O’Brien of Florida.  His sister Mary predeceased him.  In addition, he leaves 4 nieces and 2 nephews in his O’Brien family.  He also leaves the many members of his Mulligan family. Always an academic, he earned degrees from Cape Cod Community College, Suffolk University, and attended both the University of MA and John’s Hopkins University. His field of study was economics and he actually interned in Prague for F.W. De Klerk, who ended racial segregation in S. Africa.       Always an avid traveler, he toured all of Europe as well as Africa. As a young adult he bicycled from Massachusetts to California and lived there several years. He was outgoing, social, and fun. Marc will be remembered for his intelligence, his love of adventure, his sense of humor, and his love for his family.      According to his wishes,  a Celebration of Marc’s Life will be announced at a future date. A graduate of North High School in Worcester he went on work as a full-time Firefighter and EMT for the Northbridge Fire Department for 12 years. He later worked at Beaumont Nursing Home in maintenance 12 years and finally at Alternatives Unlimited until his retirement in 2011. He was a U.S. Navy Vietnam Veteran, serving aboard the USS Energy.
Dick was clever, funny, and never lost his sense of humor despite his illness. He enjoyed reading, puzzles, and splitting wood to keep his home warm and comfortable. He liked to be active, going to the gym, and spend time outdoors. He truly loved everyone in his life and wanted the best for them. He was a wonderful man who will be deeply missed. Born and raised in Northbridge on Nov. 12, 1948, Robert was the son of the late Lucien and Georgette (Nero) Morrissette and lived here all his life. Bob was educated at St. Peters School, and graduated from Northbridge High School in 1963. He furthered his education at UCONN and earned his Allied Health Bachelors Degree in 1973.
Robert worked as a Physical Therapist at Doctor’s Hospital, Fogerty Hospital, and the VNA in Rhode Island for many years. He also taught at the Bancroft School of Massage in Worcester. After retirement he dedicated himself to caring for his parents.
Bob was good with his hands and was skilled at building and carpentry. He especially loved playing baseball and later watching his kids play sports. He enjoyed long drives on his motorcycle to the White Mountains and visiting relatives in Canada. Robert was extremely dedicated to his family. He was selfless making sure everyone was taken care of. He was a graduate of Northbridge High School, Class of 1966 where he played football and ran track. Jim worked over 35 years as an Envelope Adjuster for New England Envelope in Worcester. He then was employed at Classic Envelopes / Supreme X in Douglas many years until his retirement in 2016. He continued working there part-time until his death.
Jim loved spending time with his family and his friends- most of whom were like family to him. He would always greet you with a smile and a joke. He loved  “The Ranch” in Webster where he and Sherry camped for the past 14 years. The friends he made there were his “ranch family”. Always competitive he enjoyed playing pitch and poker, horseshoes, golfing, and visiting the beach. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He was a longtime member of the Oliver Ashton American Legion.
