Ronald Fredrick Wolf - April 14, 1949 - June 14, 2023

Departed: 06/14/2023 (Fernandina Beach)
Obituary Preview: Ronald Fredrick Wolf, 74, of Yulee, FL passed away peacefully with his family by his side on June 14, 2023 from complications of Multiple Sclerosis.
Ron was born on April 14, 1949, to Ralph and Gloria Wolf in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Raised in Milwaukee, where he married the love of his life and devoted caregiver, Jackie. They raised 3 children (and multiple dogs) then relocated to Friendship, WI in 1995. During his time in Friendship, he worked at Terrace Homes and for the City of Adams. He was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2009. Shortly after their retirement, Ron and Jackie relocated to Florida. After many setbacks and challenges, he refused to let the disease define him. Though he couldn’t speak well over the past few years, he communicated often with family and many friends through Facebook messenger. His memes, videos, and daily affirmations will be missed by many. One of the things that meant the most to him was being with his family and seeing his loved ones have a good time. (If you know, you know!) Ron will be remembered for being a loving father and husband. He was a lover of dogs, the outdoors, and the Green Bay Packers. (Not necessarily in that order) He would give anyone the shirt off his back and his last $2.
Ron is survived by his wife of 56 years Jackie Wolf; daughter Juliane Oberbeck (Brad Oberbeck), son Ron Wolf Jr (Denise Wolf), daughter Jennifer Wolf-Beaster (Brett Beaster) and 7 grandchildren Michael Wolf, Jeremy Filocha, Emily Beaster, Gauge Oberbeck, Athena Oberbeck, Hailey Wolf, and Jack Beaster. His mother Gloria Wolf, his brothers David Wolf, and John Wolf.
Also Survived by other family members, Cousins, Nieces, and Nephews.
Ron was predeceased by his Father Ralph Wolf, Father-in-law Earl Wagner, and Mother-in-law Lorraine Wagner.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an obituary?

An obituary is a written notice that announces the death of a person, typically including their name, age, date of birth and death, and a brief biography. It's often published in newspapers, online obituary platforms, or funeral home websites to inform friends, family, and community members of the passing.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to honor and remember the deceased, while also providing essential information to those who knew them. They help to notify others of the passing, allowing them to pay their respects, attend funeral services, and offer condolences to the grieving family.

Who typically writes an obituary?

The responsibility of writing an obituary usually falls on the family members or close friends of the deceased. Funeral homes or obituary writers may also assist in crafting the obituary, especially if the family is overwhelmed with grief or lacks the necessary information.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the deceased person's full name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, military service, hobbies, achievements, and surviving family members. It may also mention any notable accomplishments, charitable work, or community involvement.

Can I include photos in an obituary?

Yes, many online obituary platforms and funeral homes allow you to upload photos of the deceased to accompany the obituary. This can be a meaningful way to personalize the tribute and help others remember the person.

How long does it take to write an obituary?

The time it takes to write an obituary can vary depending on the complexity and detail desired. On average, it may take around 30 minutes to an hour to gather information and craft a well-written obituary.

Are there any specific guidelines for writing an obituary?

While there's no one-size-fits-all approach, it's generally recommended to keep the tone respectful, concise, and factual. Avoid using overly sentimental language or clichés. Instead, focus on highlighting the person's unique qualities, achievements, and contributions.

Can I include humor in an obituary?

Absolutely! Humor can be a wonderful way to celebrate the person's life and personality. However, be sure to balance humor with sensitivity and respect for the grieving family.

How do I submit an obituary to a newspaper or online platform?

Check with the newspaper or online platform for their submission guidelines and deadlines. Typically, you'll need to provide the written obituary, along with any accompanying photos or details, by email or through an online submission form.

Is there a cost associated with publishing an obituary?

Fees for publishing an obituary vary depending on the newspaper or online platform. Some may charge by the word or line count, while others offer package deals or free listings. Be sure to ask about costs when submitting your obituary.

Can I make changes to an obituary after it's been published?

In most cases, changes can be made to an online obituary with relative ease. However, printed newspaper obituaries are more difficult to alter once they've been published. Be sure to proofread carefully before submission to avoid errors.

How long will my loved one's obituary remain online?

The duration of an online obituary varies depending on the platform or website. Some may keep the listing active for a few weeks or months, while others may maintain it indefinitely. Be sure to check with the hosting site for their archiving policies.

Can I share my loved one's obituary on social media?

Absolutely! Sharing the obituary on social media can help spread the news quickly and reach a wider audience. Many online platforms even provide social sharing buttons for easy posting.

What is a death notice versus an obituary?

A death notice is a brief announcement of someone's passing, usually including only basic information like name, age, and date of death. An obituary is a longer, more detailed tribute that provides additional context about the person's life.

Can I include quotes or poems in an obituary?

Yes! Quotes or poems can add a personal touch and help capture the essence of your loved one's spirit. Choose ones that resonate with their personality or values.

How do I ensure accuracy in an obituary?

To ensure accuracy, verify all details with family members or reliable sources before submitting the obituary. Double-check dates, names, and spellings to avoid mistakes.

Can I include charitable donations or memorial information in an obituary?

Absolutely! Including this information allows friends and family to make donations in lieu of flowers or other gestures. Specify the charity or organization along with any relevant details.

What if I need help writing an obituary?

If you're struggling to write an obituary or need guidance, consider reaching out to a funeral home director or professional writer who specializes in crafting tributes. They can provide valuable assistance during this difficult time.

How do I handle sensitive information in an obituary?

When dealing with sensitive topics like cause of death or personal struggles, exercise discretion and tact. Focus on celebrating your loved one's life rather than dwelling on potentially painful details.

Can I include pet information in an obituary?

If your loved one had beloved pets that played a significant role in their life, it's perfectly acceptable to mention them in the obituary. This can be a touching way to acknowledge their importance.

How do I preserve my loved one's online obituary?

You can save a copy of the online obituary as a PDF or screenshot for future reference. Additionally, some platforms offer options to create a permanent digital archive or memory book.

What if I want to publish multiple versions of an obituary?

If you want to publish different versions of an obituary (e.g., one for local news and another for social media), be sure to tailor each version accordingly. Consider varying levels of detail and tone depending on your audience.

Can I use an existing template for writing an obituary?

Yes! Many resources offer pre-designed templates or examples to guide you in writing an obituary. Feel free to adapt these templates to fit your needs and style.

How do I cope with emotional difficulties while writing an obituary?

Writing an obituary can be a challenging task emotionally. Take breaks as needed, seek support from loved ones or professionals if necessary, and prioritize self-care during this difficult time.
