Evangelist Jerline McDuffie-Lockett - June 11, 1936 - November 28, 2021

Departed: 11/28/2021 (Chicago)
Obituary Preview: “…Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” Hebrews 11:1 KJV
Evangelist Jerline Fayne Mcduffie-Lockett was born in Osceola, Arkansas on June 11, 1936, to the late Rosie Fayne-Beamon and John Fayne.  Evg. Jerline was united in Holy Matrimony to Rev. William Lockett on June 13, 2009, in Chicago, Illinois who preceded her in death. She and her first husband King David McDuffie, Sr were married in 1958 where he preceded her in death in 1999. They were blessed with ten children (8 boys and 2 girls).
Evg. Jerline was a woman of God that loved everybody she would not let anything stand in her way and her model was to keep moving forward, to not look back, and to make the best out of life. She always believed that without faith, things are impossible. Conversely, by always having faith, she believed everything would fall into place as a true woman of God.
Evg. Jerline was a hardworking woman, who devoted her life to helping others. She was very active in the community and fought for the rights of others. She Marched with Rev Jesse Jackson (Operation Push/Operation Breadbasket) in the 1960s and 1970s, fighting for equality, economic opportunities in black communities, housing, jobs and the rights for others and black-owned businesses. She also fought for Welfare Rights.
Operation Breadbasket was modeled after selective patronage program developed by Leon Sullivan in Philadelphia. Breadbasket used the persuasive power of black ministers and the organizing strength of the churches to create economic opportunities and help industries selling their products in black communities.
Evg. Jerline started Mcduffie Outreach Ministries, where she ran a daily food pantry out of her basement. She could not bear to see others homeless or those who did not have a place to stay, so she took them in, especially during the time of our dangerously cold, inclement Chicago weather. She started to hand out food to feed the homeless as well as clothing to wear. Her Ministry attracts hundreds--Lines to the end of the block. She also helps others to set up their own food pantry and work with churches to do the same. She kept Church Service in the basement as well. She went to visit the sick in the hospital and pray for them.
Evg. Jerline was a sweet soul with a kind heart. She was always very family oriented, and very protective over her loved ones. She would give you the clothing off her back, along with a loving lecture. She will always be remembered for her generous and caring spirit. She always carried a beautiful smile, even during the time of her illness and pain. Although her steps were slow and her breathing became difficult, she always carries that radiant smile. She worked diligently in the church where she was ordained and acquired her evangelical robe. She dedicated her life to Christ at a very early age and continue to lead and encouraged others to do the same.
Evg. Jerline was featured in the Chicago Tribune Newspaper coming to the aid of an elderly 101-year-old lady whose food pantry was robbed. She helped the lady to restore and replenish her lost. Evg. Jerline always looked forward to celebrating her Birthday annually. Two/three months before her birthday, she started to call the family reminding them of her upcoming party. Her home on Wentworth Avenue, where her children was raised, was nicely decorated (…by one of her sons Solomon), where she would greet you with one of the biggest smiles.
Rest in Heaven Evangelist Jerline McDuffie-Locket, your work on earth is done and we thank you for all that you have done. You’re the last of your siblings. You lived 85 years on earth. Fond memories will forever linger in the hearts and minds of your remaining 8-children, grand-children, great-grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, In-laws, numerous Family members and Friends. We love you and will miss you Mama Jerline!!! By the way, say hi to Dad, and our siblings--Alphonso and Jackie for us. Tell them we love and miss them!

Franklin will always be remembered as a man of big ideas, an eager heart, and a spirit that always maintained its childlike wonder. He will be greatly missed. Tributes Daddy’s Hues By Renah Shoshannah Jones ã November 29,2021
Whatever the canvas, whatever the assignment he would crush Just give him a pencil, marker, pen, or paintbrush Cold with it since his born day He was In Living Color before In Living Color in every single way A lil southern Georgia boy whose first love began with putting pencil to paper Drawing, coloring, creating for him there was nothing greater So much so, one of that little boy’s drawings ended up in an issue of Ebony Jr. The offspring of the major magazine Years later his future would be in advertising A Storyboard Illustrator, his talents touched many brand names for commercial prints and on the screen So dope with freehand sketching the vision drawn by him for many a shot or scene He once worked on the Michael Jackson and Michael Jordan music video for the song JAM back in the day, TomehewasthefirstRockStarIknewhewasa big deal getting that type of play Dad was always down for a good laugh or festive time Surrounded constantly by his eclectic taste in music flowing to his own rhythm and rhyme Throwing art parties like Club Jump and Club Jump 2 It was the epitome of how grown art folks do Terrific art showcased on the walls by respected peers, To party guests doing body painting on a model so novel and comical had folks in tears, To the DJ bumpin making the bass thunder and pound And can’t forget the skateboarders rolling all around They were doing stunts down the hall just outside the massive loft door And plenty of other shenanigans it was a colorful sight for sure In spite of his imperfections or afflictions as he’d sometimes call them when we’d talk He was a dedicated Artist and would always walk that walk Whether it was the poster he drew for my Clean Up Day Parade in grade school, a series of abstracts, numerous Packy Lane renditions or a simple dazzling painting of a couple dancing. Dad was always on a mission, always romancing. Romancing anyone who had the pleasure to lay eyes upon his gift, his imagination Romancing and conjuring a special titillation He was about that Art Life professionally and for recreation. Multifaceted and humorous, Dad was always ready with great conversation. Holding court about the latest great book he’d read, movies he recently enjoyed or the never- ending societal ills. Sometimes the combo of his intelligence and artistry just gave me chills Though Dad had his share of cutting up and misbehaving testing our patience on many a day, He was one of kind with his own tender way. He loved motorcycles, he appreciated an amazing car design, He relished a great mix of cuisines and adored a stellar glass of wine. He once told me he loved each woman he’d been with, Adrienne, Michele, and Althea During their respective time and season. How he managed to snag them at all, he said sheer Luck had to be the reason. After laughing at himself in a sweet moment he told me how much he loved me and my sisters Khaveri and Shmura ever so much and please darling girl please stay in touch. So many memories of my Dad standing at an easel or at his desk working on his next masterpiece Memories of him cracking jokes, snapping his fingers The last time I saw him, to when I was with him as a little girl at the Fine Arts Theatre vividly lingers. The birthday parties on Yates, many a BBQ with the whole crew, kickin it at Nana’s Dad playing with the dogs Bear and Luigi barking happily going bananas. I got to witness Dad get married in that terrific suit He was a good-looking sight And now, it’s a lifetime gone, gone overnight His last Act is done he no longer has to fight. He tussled, he did his best and gave it all he could Franklin Pearce Campbell you’ve left an amazing impact and we know your heart was good Rest well Husband, Father, Friend and Brother Palette in hand with us always In Living Color.
Dear Dad, I wish you knew how much I missed you. That I wasn't ready to say goodbye to you. I replay our last conversation in my head a lot and I try to hold on to your advice. I try to hold on to the sound of your voice and every detail that is you. I pray to God everyday throughout my day that your soul is free, and you are truly at peace. I really want to thank you with my whole heart for being my dad. My soul chose yours for a reason. I love you so dearly. -Shemi
