Joyce was born on July 22, 1943 in Abingdon, Illinois. She was the daughter of Willard “Red” and Myrtle (Landon) Malone. She married Stanley B. Simms on February 19, 1966 at the Abingdon Christian Church. Together they celebrated 49 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on March 13, 2015. Surviving Joyce are her son, Stanley R. (Sarah Jo Dennis) Simms of Oneida; two brothers, Donald Malone of Abingdon and Dale Malone of Galesburg; and numerous nieces, nephews and chosen kids and grandkids. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and seven siblings, Mary Irwin, Kenneth Malone, Willard Malone, Elbea Malone, Dick Malone, Dolly Brock and Bob Malone.

Joyce was an Abingdon High School graduate. She attended Rockford School of Practical Nursing where she graduated the LPN Program 1964. She then went on to Carl Sandburg College where she received her degree as a Registered Nurse. Joyce loved nursing, she started her career at the Research Hospital in Galesburg and would continue on to work at Cottage Hospital and retired as the Corporate Director of Nursing for RFMS. She was also an EMT with AOW in its early years. Joyce enjoyed crafting, baking, cooking, sewing, painting and making her own greeting cards. She also loved to sit down to a good word search puzzle. Joyce loved to go fishing and especially looked forward to the yearly family vacations in Minnesota. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 12:00 P.M. at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory, 204 East Prospect Street, Oneida, IL 61488. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at the Oneida Cemetery. Rev. Bob Malone will officiate. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory, Oneida Illinois. Memorials may be made to the family. He was the son of Donald and Alvaree (Dutton) Motz. He married Catherine Fahlund at Grace Lutheran Church in 1986. Surviving Rodney are his daughter, Mallory (Robert Pfeffer) Motz of Dahinda; siblings, Daniel (Lisa) Motz of Knoxville, Linda Sue (Jack) Swanson of Kentucky, Donald "Gus" (Toni) Motz of Wataga and Jason (Jackie) Motz of Wataga; grandchildren Weston and Saige that he thought the world of and they loved him so much; several nieces and nephews; his good friends, Bill Crawford, Jim Lamb and Tiny. He was preceded in death by his parents, nephew, Travis Swanson and uncles, Johnny Joe Motz and Charlie Motz. Rodney was a "Jack of All Trades," who worked in Track Maintenance for Burlington Northern and as a private salvage specialist. He also worked in lawn care and tree trimming. Rodney was an avid fan of NASCAR, loved going to car shows and the Rutledge Flea Market. He participated in demolition derbies when he was younger. Rodney mostly enjoyed his time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. Cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at the Wataga Cemetery. Rev. Gary Bryan will officiant. A celebration of life will follow services starting at 2PM at Motzees in Wataga. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory are assisting the family with arrangements. Surviving Millie are her loving husband, Bill of Wataga; children, Robin Green of Oneida and Billy (Diana Hood) Green of East Galesburg; grandchildren, Addisyn, Boden and Remington; a sister, Susan Liepitz of Oneida; nephew Erik (Amanda) Liepitz of Knoxville; a niece, Amanda (Nick) Soper of Oneida. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Wayne. Millie was a 1969 graduate of Galesburg High School. She worked as a waitress at Casa Sierra, cashier for Caseys in Wataga and was a dispatcher for the Wataga Volunteer Fire Department. Millie enjoyed reading and crocheting. She was a caring and giving person, who loved animals. Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be held from 2:00 - 5:00 PM, Saturday, May 11, 2024, at the Sparta Township Hall, 100 East Willard Street, Wataga, IL.
