Obituary Preview: Wilbur Pearl Gilliland, age 88, of Fostoria, entered eternal rest on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home. He was born June 18, 1933, in Risingsun to Pearl and Aretha (Kerr) Gilliland. On June 23, 1955, Wilbur married Janet Stahl and she preceded him in death.
Wilbur graduated from Risingsun High School. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served during the Korean War. In later years, Wilbur owned and operated his own roofing company, Gilliland & Son Roofing.
Wilbur is survived by two sons, Mark (Kelli) Gilliland of Risingsun, and Steve (Carie) Gilliland of Arcadia; five grandchildren, Danielle, Josh, Alexa, Jacob, and Taylor; five great-grandchildren, Madilynn, Dawson, Delylah, Crew, and Braedon. In addition to his wife and parents, He was preceded in death by a daughter, Belinda Ann Gilliland; brothers, Walt, Accel, Darrel, Stan, and Ronnie; and sisters, Virginia, and Idella.

Obituary Preview: Rose Marie Miller, 59, of Findlay, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Blanchard Valley Hospital. She was born December 8, 1962, in Portsmouth, Virginia. Rose was adopted by John and Alice (Fussel) Hurtt who loved her dearly. She met Rodney Miller, and they were married on July 25, 1998, and he survives.
Rose graduated from Findlay High School and worked in the food industry. Later, she worked at The Heritage Nursing Home as an Aide retiring after 15 years. She had a deep love of animals, but above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.
Rose is survived by her loving husband, Rodney; two nieces, Sabrina (George) Barrientos, and Romona Berry, both of Findlay; and a nephew, Cyrus (Lisa) Dillinger Jr. of Findlay. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Beatrice (Hurtt) Dillinger.
A Celebration of Rose’s Life will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2022, at New Life Assembly of God, 3120 Norcrest St., Findlay, Ohio 45840 with Pastor Dutch VanderVlucht officiating. A time of visitation will be one hour prior (10 – 11 a.m.) to the service at the church. Lora graduated from Mohawk High School and attended Tiffin Hair Academy. She enjoyed spending time with her children, but Lora’s pride was most on display when she was able to spend time playing with her grandchildren who each had a special place in her heart.
Lora is survived by her mother, Virginia; sons, Joe E. (Christine) Hunter, Jeff T. (McKenna) Hunter; daughter, Jaclyn Rae Hunter, all of Carey; 5 grandchildren, Harper, Hagen, Hazel, Quinn, and Zoe Hunter; 5 brothers, Owen (Nicky), Edward (Deb), Robert (Lisa), Richard (Marsha) and Ray Mullholand; and 1 sister, Oleta (Jim) Kin. She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Mullholand, and brother, Jerry Ray Mullholand.

Obituary Preview: R. Jeaneen Stepp, 86, of Findlay, passed away Monday, April 11, 2022, at her residence. She was born October 15, 1935, in Marion, Ohio to Carl and Gladys (Boele) Rippey. Jeaneen married Bill Stepp on December 21, 1956, and he preceded her in death.
Bill and Jeaneen co-owned and operated Straley’s Restaurant and Motel for many years. Later, Jeaneen worked as a receptionist at Marathon Oil Company for several years and retired as a greeter from Meijer. She was a woman of faith and attended Arcadia United Methodist Church. Above all, Jeaneen loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Her most joy was attending and supporting her grandchildren’s sporting events and activities.
Jeaneen is survived by her three grandchildren, Jennifer (Charles) Zehender of Findlay, Ashley Mayer of Boise, Idaho, and Jacob (Michele) Kuhlman of Findlay; six great-grandchildren, Noah Kuhlman, Kayleigh Zehender, Justin Zehender, Bexley Mayer, Dax Mayer, Nash Kuhlman, and Vivian Kuhlman. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Tamela Kuhlman; and two sisters, Twila Hazen, and Colleen Kirby.

Marcus was a quick witted and fun-loving individual who lived his life unapologetically. He had a knack for expression and could always find the words for any situation. A smile lived on his face. Marcus held a special place in his heart for Shaun Spitnale and Travis Trenor. He was a loving father, son, brother, and friend to many. Memories of him will live on in the lives he touched.
Marcus is survived by his parents; his five children, Bladen, Trey, Mason, Lyla, and Breighlyn; one brother, Nicholas of Austin, TX; and one sister, Ashleigh of Longmont, CO.

Obituary Preview: Bonnie Jean Schroen, age 71, of Jenera, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay. Born January 12, 1951, in Tiffin, she was the only daughter of Mark and Ethel (Myers) Evans. Bonnie and Roger D. Schroen were married February 12, 1977, and he preceded her in death in 2014.
Bonnie was a Columbian High School graduate. She enjoyed going to the casinos, fishing, drinking a nice cold Diet Pepsi, and loved her lunch outings with her daughter Jill. She was also a big fan of John Wayne, and word search. She also looked forward to spending the summer at her son’s house every year. Above all, Bonnie loved her grandchildren dearly. She loved spending time with them, playing games, attending their school activities, and absolutely loved her canine companion, Odie.
Left to cherish Bonnie’s memory are her children, Mark E. (Jessie) Schroen of Celina, and Jill M. (Christopher) Cascaden of Jenera; nine grandchildren, Mackenzie, Katelynn, and Alexa, all of Jenera, Skyler, Logan, Jacob, and Ava, all of Findlay and Tiffin, Imagene, and Amelia, both of Celina; one brother, Butch Lawson of Bridgeport, Texas; brother-in-law, Marvin Schroen of Findlay; and nieces, Sarah Francis of Findlay, and Angie Holman of Fostoria. In addition to her parents and husband, Bonnie was preceded in death by brother, Edward Evans.

Obituary Preview: Dale “Buzz” Sumner Buttles, 74, of Rawson, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2022, at Birchaven Village, Findlay. He was born June 4, 1947, in Merced, California to Harold and Marge (Sumner) Buttles.
Born legally blind, Buzz self-taught to play drums, guitar, bass, and piano. He led a successful music career and opened for artists including, Box Car Willie, Chubbie Checker, Terry Gibbs, Apple Ridge, Billy Crush Cruddock, and Ronnie Mcdowell. Buzz toured throughout Alaska, Canada, and across the USA. He sang for numerous weddings, funerals, and charitable events. He also played in bands that included: Sweetwater Express, Buzz Cokley, Wells Fargo, and George Jones offered him to be his bass player.
Aside from music, he owned a bicycle and small engine business where he repaired bicycles for the neighborhood kids. He also owned a Karaoke and DJ business. Among his many talents, Buzz enjoyed building and remodeling.
Buzz is survived by his ex-wife, June (Buttles) Freeman and their two daughters, Angie Buttles (Denny Jarrett), and Carrie (Allen) Harbor; ex-wife, Lucinda Reynolds and his stepson, Taylor (Kelsey) Reynolds; and two stepdaughters, Hallie Freeman (Sara Eicher), and Shelia (Liz) Wilson; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Mike Buttles of Gardnerville, NV, and Andy Buttles of Placerville, CA; special friends, Wilbur St. Myer of Rawson, John Richenback of Findlay, and Tim “Sarge” Fenner of Findlay. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother, Nana; and band members and friends, Larry, Virgel, and Hank Hensley.

He was born November 26, 1933, on the Nau family farm near Arcadia, Ohio, to his parents Robert W. and Alice B. (Nau) Painter. Bob married his high school sweetheart, Beverly J. Damon, in 1951, and were blessed with more than 70 years of adventures together. She survives in Pandora, Ohio. Bob is also survived by four children; Richard (Donna) Painter of Waynesville, OH, Deborah Miracle of Pandora, OH, Barbara Stahler of Findlay, OH, Jeffrey Painter of Findlay; son-in-law Mark Hein of Millersport, OH; one brother, Derol R. (Carol) Painter and family of Fort Myers, FL; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and many “adopted” family members.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lynn E. Painter; daughter, Roberta J. Hein; grandson, Jonathon D. Painter, granddaughter, Jennifer Shaw; grandson, BJ McDonald; son-in-law, Mick Stahler; and son-in-law, Robert McDonald.
Bob graduated from Arcadia High School where he was involved in FFA, 4-H, band, orchestra, and choir. He was a dairy farmer for many years. Later, he worked in real estate and insurance sales. At age 85, he retired from his last job at the Bluffton Senior Center where he especially enjoyed planning and hosting trips for the senior citizens.
He was a member of the Pandora United Methodist Church where he served as a Trustee and member of the choir. Bob loved music and sang in school, church, barbershop choruses, and quartets. He and Bev also enjoyed singing duets over the years.
It is said that “The most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother,” and our dad showed us that kind of love every day.

Deanna was a Cory Rawson High School graduate and worked for Ingram Book Company for 25 years. She enjoyed hanging out with her beloved dog, King, collecting Harry Potter and Alice in Wonderland memorabilia, and cheered for the Cleveland Browns. She also loved gathering with her friends for a movie and dinner. Above all, Deanna’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her daughters and grandchildren.
Deanna leaves behind her two daughters, Amanda Owen of Findlay, and Samantha (Glen) Gambler of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; five grandchildren, Chase Owen-Cooper of Watkinsville, Georgia, Alexis Cooper of Nashville, Tennessee, Caydon Cooper of Findlay, Ohio, Zander, and Tristan Gambler, both of Ft. Wayne; and one sister, Nicci McMeechan of Muncie, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Dean Owen, and her significant other, Ron Rizor.

Thelma loved gardening, cooking, and baking, and never turned down a good buy at garage sales. She loved telling stories about her life and growing up.
Thelma is survived by her twin sons, Gary, and Larry Rice of Findlay; daughters, Janet (O’Brien) Rice of Frankfort, MI, and Debra Rice of Findlay; 9 grandchildren, Crystal, Aleisha, John, Ryan, Dustin, Bob, Jamie, Brendon, and Samantha; 18 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 sister, Nancy Newton of Richmond, TX, and Gannett Meyers of Houston, TX. In addition to her husband and parents, Thelma was preceded in death by sons, John M Rice, and Stephen Rice at infancy; sisters, Virginia Chuich, June Samson, Doris Landon, Mary LeeChuich, Grace Swabado, Allison Swabado, and Sara Brimberry; brothers, William Swabado, and Donald Swabado; and a granddaughter, Danielle Rice.

Obituary Preview: Betty M. (Ramey) Aurand, 77, of Findlay, peacefully passed away Monday, March 21, 2022, in the comfort of her home surrounded by family. She was born November 9, 1944, to Homer and Elva (Jordan) Anderson in Springfield, Ohio. Betty married John L. Aurand who preceded her in death.
Betty worked at G.S.W. for many years until her retirement. She was a Life Auxiliary member of the V.F.W. and a member of the Moose Lodge #698. Betty loved spending time with her family and friends, playing cards and bingo. She enjoyed her older country music and blue grass. Betty spent a lot of time helping raise money for the veterans, Toys of Tots, and other organizations.
Betty is survived by her lifelong partner, Paul Ramirez Jr.; sons, Roy Ramey, and Floyd C. Ramey both of Findlay, and Jason D. (Stacey Phillips) Ramey of Arcadia; daughter, Deborah K. (Chuck Thompkins) Phillips of Findlay; nine grandchildren, Tia Collier of Phoenix, Arizona, Curtis and Brihanna Pugh of New Reigel, Ohio, Tyler and Amber Ramey of Sebastian, Florida, Sky Ramey of Findlay, Justin and Mackenzie Phillips of Findlay, and Jorja Fugate-Ramey of Ramond, Wisconsin. In additions to her husband and parents, Betty was preceded in death by her four brothers; five sisters; grandson, Austin Phillips; and granddaughter, Heaven Ramey.

Lawrence and Florence (Sheidler) Kagy in McComb. Darlene married her husband, Paul E. Rehus on December 4, 1965, and he preceded her in death in 2020.
Darlene was a homemaker and actively involved in helping her husband on the family farm. She loved gardening and was involved with the 4-H program. Darlene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking her favorite meals for the family, as it made her happy to see everyone together.

Gary L. DeWalt - December 05, 1934 - March 15, 2022

Obituary Preview: Gary Lee DeWalt, 87, of Findlay, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Bowling Green. He was born December 5, 1934, in Bowling Green to Keith and Vivian (Aldrich) DeWalt. Gary married the love of his life, Eleanor Ann (Hafferkamp) DeWalt on July 28, 1956. She preceded him in death in September of 2020.
Gary graduated from Bowling Green High School and then went on to graduate from Bowling Green State University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. In 1957, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving in Vietnam as a Naval Intelligence Officer, retiring at the rank of Commander. Gary and family were stationed in Washington, California, Colorado, Hawaii and Virginia. Upon retirement in 1979, Gary moved back to Ohio to enjoy life on his farm. He also worked several years as a purchasing agent for Midwest Laser Systems and as a salesman for Treadway Dodge in Findlay. His hobbies included: hunting, fishing, bridge, gardening, woodworking, beekeeping, planting trees, genealogy, and American history. Gary loved his family and was a faithful member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.
Gary is survived by his 2 sons, Daniel G. DeWalt of Findlay, Douglas G. (Nicole) DeWalt of Ottawa Hills; 3 daughters, Perri A. (Ed) Cox of Miami, Florida, Diane V. (Ben) Smith of Indian Land, South Carolina, and Julia C. Richard L. Bruielly - December 26, 1949 - March 13, 2022

Obituary Preview: Richard Lee Bruielly, 72, passed away on March 13, 2022, under the care of Bridge Hospice at Wood County Hospital. Richard was born in Corning, NY on December 26, 1949, to parents William and Geraldine (Mattison) Bruielly. He graduated from Corning West High School in 1968 and went on to graduate from New York State Technical and Agricultural University at Alfred in 1972 earning his associate degree in Applied Science. Rick was employed as a Manager at Saratoga Stud Farm in NY before moving to Indiana where he began working for Cooper Industrial Products. Rick moved to Bowling Green, Ohio where he was employed by Cooper and then Southeastern Container, where he retired in 2014.
From a young age, Richard had a strong interest and appreciation for animals and wildlife and at 12 years old he taught himself the art of taxidermy. He owned a popular taxidermy business throughout his adult life, even after retirement. Rick loved to spend his time volunteering at his church where he was a Deacon. His favorite ministries were the church food pantry and IDES, the International Disaster Emergency Service. Rick also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity.
In addition to his community service, Rick enjoyed following his favorite sports teams, the NY Yankees and NY Giants, hunting, fishing, and his taxidermy artwork. His interests also included classic cars, listening to music, and visiting flea markets for antiques. Above all, Rick enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his 6 grandsons, who were his pride and joy.
The family would like to thank Bridge Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion for Rick and his family during his final days.
Rick is survived by his mother, Geraldine Bruielly, of Corning, NY; daughters Sara (Victor) Meyer of Bloomdale, OH, Erica Bruielly of Bowling Green, Ohio, Leeanna Pugsley (Jeffrey) of Holgate, OH, their mother, Patricia Bruielly of Weston, OH, and his grandchildren, Trevor, Lane, Austin, Louis, Elliott, Owen and his 7th grandchild due in August; brother, William Bruielly II, of Gas City, Indiana, sister Bonnie (Dennis) Ainsworth, of Corning, NY, sister Karen (Joe) Thatcher of Beaver Dams, NY. Rick also leaves behind his companion dog Bugs and countless friends and neighbors, all of whom he loved as family. Rick was preceded in death by his father, William Bruielly, and sister Kimberly Bruielly. A public memorial service for Rick will take place at the Weston Church of Christ, 13355 Center Street, Weston OH on Friday March 25th, at 10:00 a.m. beginning with a visitation and a luncheon following the service. Obituary Preview: Joseph “Joe” Davidson Goodman, 85, of Findlay, passed away peacefully March 9, 2022, in the comfort of his home with his loving family at his side. He was born September 11, 1936, in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, to Garland L. and Lily M. (Waddle) Goodman.
Joe graduated high school and enlisted in the U.S. Army at the end of the Korean War in 1953 where he served and was honorably discharged in 1956. On June 2, 1957, he married his true love, Lillie E. (Greer). They moved to Findlay in 1966, where Joe took up a job with Cooper Tire and Rubber Company, retiring after 28 years of service. He was a very active Eagle Scout and a Vigil Honor Member of the Order of the Arrow. Joe was certified at University of Kentucky for Civil Defense, 1st Lieutenant Rescue Squad in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, and worked at Kentucky West Virginia as a gas line inspector for 9 years. He was a lifetime member of Amvets and DAV, a longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church, member of the Zebulon Lodge 273 of Prestonsburg, Kentucky, a 32nd Degree Mason,  Belonged to the Scottish rite, and a member of the Zenobia Shriners. He was an avid golfer and loved to fish. He also loved his 3 children, grandchildren and the love of his life, Lillie Ellen.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Lillie; daughters, Deborah Kay (Randall) Dillingham and Carolyn Ruth (Destrey) Roeber; he raised three of his great-granddaughters as his daughters, Kendyl “Mookie” (Joshua) Bame, Lily and Scarlette Szymanski; and raised two of his great-grandsons as his sons, Asher Sammet and Ezekiel Szymanski; three grandchildren, Melissa Szymanski, Kara Rose, and Anna K. (Isaac) Anderson; and six great-grandchildren, Evie Butler, Connall Johnson, Tatum Davis, Thain Spangenberg, Thaddeus and Thalia Anderson. He is also survived by one brother, Sam Goodman; and special family friends, Ana Heldman and Donnie Wolfe. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Joseph Davison Goodman II; sister, Mary Kathryn “Kakky” (Ron) Sanders; brother, Robert “Pig”Goodman; and great-granddaughter, Jordyn McKinney.

Ron is survived by his wife of 58 years, Susan (Clark), his four children, Philip (Roger)Atkins,  Carol (Rob) Edington, Beth (Patrick) Burton and Andrew (Jennifer) Atkins; seven grandchildren: Zachary Nye, Jacob (Rachel)Atkins, Elise (Steven) Steiger, Bekah (Liam) O’Linger, Isaac Burton, Susanna Atkins, and Caleb Atkins, five great-grandchildren as well as survived by his sisters Cheryl (Carl) Ernst of Findlay and Debra Atkins of Florida, sister-in-law Linda Atkins of Golden, Missouri, and many loving nieces and nephews. Preceding Ron in death were his father and mother, Clifford D., and Marjorie Pearce, of Findlay, as well as his younger brother, Tony, of Nevada, Missouri.
Born in Martinsville, Illinois, in 1942, Ron moved with his family to Findlay, where he lived the rest of his life.  Ron is a 1960 graduate of Findlay High School and attended Findlay College.
Ron worked for the city of Findlay in the Water Treatment Plant and then for Marathon Oil Company, retiring after 26 years. A long-time member of the Findlay United Brethren Church on Rector Avenue, Ron served his church family diligently for many years, including positions as chairperson of the Christian Education, Missions, and Personnel Commissions, and Administrative Board Chairman. Ron invested his retirement time by oil and acrylic painting, woodworking and raising domesticated birds.
Those who knew Ron, knew him for these things, all of which can be summarized by one word…. faithful.  Ron was faithful to his God, his wife, his family, his employer, his church, and his friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 9, 2022, from 4:00-8:00 p.m.at Hufford Funeral Home, 1500 Manor Hill Road, Findlay. A celebration of Ron’s life will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at First United Brethren Church, 629 Rector Ave. in Findlay.

She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Parish, served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years, sang in the Funeral Choir, and was a member of the Red Hat Ladies. She was also a dedicated blood donor and over the years, she had donated 40 gallons of blood in her lifetime! Even in death, Katie was a blessing to others thru organ and tissue donations. Always thinking of others.
Katie is survived by her daughter, Sally J. (Rodney) Griffin, of Findlay; son, Joseph J. (Cindy) Gates of Tennessee; beloved grandchildren, Katie, and Matthew Griffin, Michael, and Shelby Gates; and brother, Clayton Heydinger. Katie was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Heydinger.

Obituary Preview: Jerry McAdoo, 89, a fun loving, creative, story-telling Irishman died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2022, at his Findlay residence after a long illness.
Euchre was his game. Steelers were his team. Trivia was his superpower. He loved watching “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy,” playing games with the family, and rooting for any Pittsburgh sports team. He attended nearly every Memorial Day parade in Findlay insisting everyone wear red, white, and blue. He celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with gusto and marked the occasion by buying green carnations every year for his wife and daughters, and then daughters-in-law and granddaughters.
The only child of Jane (McGivern) and John C. McAdoo, Jerry was born on July 1 in Oakland, Pennsylvania, in the shadow of Pittsburgh’s Forbes Field, where he worked as a lad. He graduated from Burgettstown High School in 1950. He came to Findlay to attend college on a wrestling scholarship following a four-year stint in the Navy during the Korean War. In the Navy he wrestled and played rugby.
Through a college friend, he met Phyllis Fleck. In 1959, they were married on June 27, her parent’s wedding anniversary, a tradition carried on by their youngest daughter.  He coached his children in youth soccer and softball.  He participated in several bowling leagues, golf leagues, and card clubs throughout his life.
He retired from Cooper Tire Rubber Company in 1994, after a 35-year career as a supervisor. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council 957, and the American Legion Ralph D. Cole Post 3.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Philip McAdoo, of Lima, and Jamie (Joan) McAdoo of Maumee; daughters, Kelly Taylor, of Bowling Green, and Maureen (Paul) Sorce of Mason; grandchildren, Meredith (Daniel) Daugherty and Kyle Taylor; Megan, Max and Macy McAdoo; Colleen, Patrick (Tyler Seybold) and Sean McAdoo; and Jack, Molly, Mckenzie, and Luke Sorce; and great-granddaughter, Avery Daugherty.
Left to remember his many jokes and stories are also his brothers-in-law Bump Fleck and Mike (Sue) Fleck; sister-in-law, Mary Fleck; a beloved aunt, Ruth McGivern; and many nieces and nephews.
A son, Patrick, died in infancy.  He is predeceased by his son-in-law, Tom Taylor, and many in-laws in his wife's large family that he cherished. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 26, at 11 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 750 Bright Road, Findlay. All are welcome to visit prior to Mass in the Narthex from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Interment will immediately follow Mass at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery, where a military honors ceremony will be conducted and bagpipes will play “Danny Boy.”

Ruth graduated from Lincoln High School in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania in 1960. Five years later, she married her soulmate of 44 years, William M. Benjamin, until his passing. She was an assembler at RCA and retired after 25 years of service. Ruth enjoyed cooking, shopping, playing cards, and babysitting. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and grandchildren. She loved watching them grow up and cherished every moment she had with them.
